Nationality column in W_employee_d for OBI Apps?

Hi,
Where is Employee Nationality column in data warehouse for OBIAPPS 11.1.1.7.1 ? As for BI APPS 7.9.6.4 Nationality column is available in W_EMPLOYEE_D table but in new version OBI APPS 11.1.1.7.1 we are not able to find NATIONALITY Column in W_EMPLOYEE_D.
OS: windows 2008 R2
BI APPS: 11.1.1.7.1
ODI: 11.1.1.7.0
Offering: HCM

Sher

Dear DylanWan,
Thanks for your feedback. Can i find EMPLOYEE NATIONALITY column in W_HR_PERSON_LEG_D ?
one more thing in our case we are having 4 Different Business groups and these Business groups are having Different legislation per country. Now my question is under different business groups (different legislation) how employe information will be populated like Nationality etc ... ?
Example:
Business group ID: 80    Business group Name: Canada
Business group ID: 210  Business group Name: UK
Business group ID: 110  Business group Name: USA
Business group ID: 119  Business group Name: Dubai
In case of business group (DUBAI) tax is deducted from employee salary and Nationality is saved in Attribute 16 in PER_ALL_PEOPLE_F table in HRMS.

    Hi
If you do the install from the sofware lsited (btw I would challenge the choice of the SEA vs the SIA) , you will face an issue for your project as you will end up with an empty database and you will not be able to extract any data for dashboards.
Check the licence agreement on the virtual machine available with SIebel preinstalled as you might use them to save on the effort of install and also get some sample data to play with.

  • Problem with OBI Apps v7.9.5 installation on WinXP SP2

We are attempting to install OBI Apps v7.9.5 on a WinXP SP2 machine. However, upon clicking the setup.exe file, we get the following error message -- Unable to load the launcher file index. Invalid file type in the index.
As a pre-requisite for OBI Apps, JDK 1.5.x and OBIEE v10.1.3.3.1 have been installed without any issues. Hence, not sure why we are getting the above error for OBI Apps. We have searched Oracle documentation, blogs and forums, but not found any reason or solution to this problem.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you..
Edited by: OBIGuy on Nov 2, 2009 1:00 PM

Thank you for the input. The contents of the installation directory are as below:
    Oracle_BI_Applications
    |- doc (folder)
    |- createResponseFile.bat
    |- installWithResponseFile.bat
    |- media.inf
    |- setup.exe
    |- setup.jar
    |- version_apps.txt
Before posting this query, I did run the setup.jar file. However, when the installation process reaches 100%, it terminates with the following error - */version_apps.txt does not exist*. Also, it rolls back the complete installation, so I do not get the OBI Apps files/directories such as DAC, dwrep, RPD, Web Catalog zip, etc.
As shown in the directory structure, this file does exist. My guess is - since I am running the JAR file and not the EXE, it is unable to resolve the path of version_apps.txt correctly and hence throws this error. Having gone through related blogs and posts, I understand that OBI Apps can be installed on Win XP SP2.
    Any inputs?

    - Add an TNS entry to the apps vm
    - enter the credentials in informatica (workflow manager)
    - enter the credentials in the DAC

    Hi All,
I have question to the Gurus that I am searching for Talent Management in OBI Apps Human resource , is it available in 7.9.6 version because we have 7.9.5 and it is not there in that ?
    Thanks for quick response,

    Hi Amol,
We have downloaded and setup the BI Apps to see what they are all about. I personally exported a report of all the requests in the latest version, 7.9.6, and there is nothing affiliated with "talent".

  • OBI APP implementation on custom ERP

    Hi,
Can you all please advise as to how to proceed with a OBI APP implementation over a customized ERP application platform.
I was thinking of proceeding in somewhat these lines
1> Determine the custom objects applied to the ERP source(New tables, New columns etc)
2> Installation and configuration of OBIAPP in same lines as we do for a vanilla environment.
3> Apply the ERP customizations to the installed warehouse (Bringing in the custom table, fields to the warehouse , changing the corresponding ETL maps, adding new ones ,workflows, new DAC execution plans etc).
    Thanks for inputs
    Cheers
    Dhrubo

    That sounds about right.
Make sure you spend some time working through the ETL's it's often an iterative process to get customizations to function exactly the way you want them to.

  • Key differences in OBI Apps Spend Procurement and Spend Classification

    Hi,
Can someone please explain the key differences in OBI Apps Spend Procurement and Spend Classification version 7.9.6.2 vs. version 7.9.6.3?
    Regards
    Vanaja

There doesnt seem to be much diferences in terms of functionality or features. If you check the release notes..there are a few differences in the 7963 release related to bugs or packaging:
If this is helpful or correct, please mark the response as correct or helpful.
Here are some of the sections from the release notes:
Section 1.3.28, "Currency Conversion Not Done in Purchase Agreement for Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics"
*1.3.32 'Days Payables Outstanding' and 'AP Turnover' Columns Are Missing*This issue applies to only those Oracle BI Applications customers who have implemented Procurement and Spend Analytics without implementing Financial Analytics.
*1.3.43 Oracle EBS 12.1.3 - Contract Lifecycle Management Impact on Oracle BI Applications Release 7.9.6.3*This issue applies to only those Oracle BI Applications customers who have implemented Procurement and Spend Analytics for E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.1.3 along with Feature Pack for Oracle Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) for Public Sector. CLM Feature Pack is deployed as an add-on to Oracle EBS 12.1.3 for delivering an integrated acquisition management solution for federal government procurement.
CLM functionality has introduced changes to the Oracle EBS data model that affects data extraction and loading for Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics. Customers with Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and the CLM feature pack must apply additional filters to exclude CLM records and to ensure that it does not interfere with V7.9.6.3 Procurement and Spend Analytics functionality.
    Workaround
No work-around is available for this issue.
*1.3.56 EXPENSE_INVOICE_POSTED_DT Not Pulled From AP_CHECKS_ALL.CHECK_DATE for Oracle E-Business Suite*This issue affects Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics. The measure 'Expense Reimbursement Cycle Time' as shipped with this release does not work in the subject area Employee Expenses – Overview. The measure uses the column EXPENSE_INVOICE_POSTED_DT_WID in the fact table W_EXPENSE_F fact, but this column is sourced from AP_EXPENSE_REPORT_HEADERS_ALL.EXPENSE_LAST_STATUS_DATE during ETL.
    Workaround
This issue is addressed by Oracle E-Business Suite patch 10038359.

  • What's the best way to do authorization for my app?

The authorization situation is somewhat complicated for my app.
Each component of the app is authorized based on not only the user, but also the page number, the value of at least one P0_ITEM.
From what I've seen so far, there are two different options of setting the authorization for the component:
    1. Set its Condition
    2. Set its Security Authorization Scheme
Here is my understanding for each (from my limited experience with APEX):
    1. Set its Condition
+ Can pass in parameters such as :APP_USER, page numebr, P0_ITEM. So I can just create one function that does all the authorization
    - Have to combine the SQL query with the component's non-authorization display conditions, if any.
    2. Set its Security Authorization Scheme
+ By name, it seems like it should be used for authorization
    - Cannot take in parameters relating to the page, such as the page number --> therefore I will need to create many different schemes, for all the different pages.
#2 will end up with a long list of schemes (each with its own SQL queries) for different pages, which doesn't seem as efficient as #1 with far fewer SQL queries and just take in parameters.
    Which one should I pick?
    Thanks!

Thanks fac586 for the detailed response, and also everyone else who replied. You guys are very helpful and respond promptly. And we'd appreciate it if you changed "953006" into a real handle promptly.
    Andre mentioned using conditions:
The way I work around this is to have two functions, one which is used at the page level as a normal authorization scheme and one which can be passed variables which is called as a Condition and the name of the item is one of the variables, in effect giving it "self awareness".But fac586 said:
You can't pass "parameters" to authorization schemes. Use application items, APEX collections or application contexts to set current context before the authorization scheme is evaluated, and access these values in the functions.Does this mean, fac586, that we can avoid conditions altogether? No, it means that I prefer to use Authorization Schemes to control access to resources based on user privileges and security, and Conditions to control rendering and processing for functional reasons. Using the approach described above I have found it possible to maintain this separation.
Say if a page has two buttons, Button_A and Button_B. Button_A has a set of requirements for displaying and Button_B has its own set of requirements (some of which are shared with Button_A). So far, the only way that I can see of using pure authorization is to write 2 different authorization schemes, and set the authorization schemes for the two buttons respectively. What's the problem with that? Consider a more concrete example using a standard APEX report/form pattern for customer maintenance. Page 6 contains the report, and page 7 is the maintenance form with P7_CREATE and P7_SAVE buttons. Only users entitled to create new customers should have access to P7_CREATE, and only users able to edit customers access to P7_SAVE. This would be controlled by the CREATE_CUSTOMER and EDIT_CUSTOMER authorization schemes respectively. Functionally, conditions are used to show P7_CREATE if the P7_CUSTOMER_ID is null, and P7_SAVE if it's not null. We don't mix non-functional security considerations with functional requirements.
The CREATE_CUSTOMER and EDIT_CUSTOMER authorization schemes are of type PL/SQL Function Returning Boolean. These are implemented using package functions. Exactly how a user has create/edit customer privilege is determined in the package. Determinants that are shared by multiple schemes can be combined at this level. These implementations can be changed as necessary without requiring changes to the application.
The authorization schemes are reusable across pages and components. On page 6, CREATE_CUSTOMER can be used on the "Create New Customer..." button; EDIT_CUSTOMER on the report column containing the "Edit" links.
Each component of the app is authorized based on not only the user, but also the page number, the value of at least one P0_ITEM. So I guess this goes back to my original concern with Authorizations:
[Using purely authorizations] will end up with a long list of schemes (each with its own SQL queries) for different pages [and page items] ....
Re: VPD policies. Note that in the example above there's no need for the authorization schemes to "know" which pages/items are being evaluated. The P7_SAVE button and the page 6 link column are involved with the EDIT_CUSTOMER operation, so that authorization scheme is applied to them.

  • Configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 When Using Universal Adapter Exclusively

    Hello experts,
I have been working for a few days in trying to configure a fiscal calendar with universal adapter flat files as the only data source because Great Plains is the data source and since Oracle does not support it, we use universal adapters. We have had limited success with this but in configuring OBI Apps 7.9.6.3 and doing normal configuration things such as configuring fiscal calendars and mapping GL accounts to group accounts using the Universal Adapter in DAC, there is virtually no documentation. In fact, when I Googled the universal adapter version of the group account codes file, there were 0 Google entries for it.
I am sending this new thread in the hope that someone out there has successfully configured OBI apps 7.9.6.3 using the Universal Adapter and can point me to documentation of any sort other than the normal Oracle OBI Apps Config Doc which only briefly mentions it and then takes file examples that are OOTB and unconfigured in any way.
Specifically, I need assistance in getting fiscal calendars working with the Universal Adapter. I have W_MCAL_DAY_D populated and all of the Gregorian calendar tables. However, the remaining W_MCAL* tables only have one row in each of them. I have an SR open about it but no success resolving it yet. While doing the configuration work, we tried to map GL accounts to group accounts but there is no account range in the Universal Adapter source file unlike the Oracle EBS version so I am unsure on how to configure group accounts. Oracle documentation only refers to Oracle EBS, PeopleSoft, and JDEdwards. I am unable to find anything regarding the Universal Adapter.
If anyone has done this sort of OBI apps configuration before, please respond or send me URLs for related documentation. I am completely stuck and SRs are not yet helping so I thought I would try this.
Thanks experts and looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hi Krish,
You will have to create 20 Application Roles matching the Responsibility Names.
Use one of the following methods to set up application roles:
Create application roles in the policy store with the same names as existing responsibilities or groups in the source applications. Then, add the new application roles as members of Oracle BI-specific application roles groups, and the users will inherit this membership based on their own responsibilities or roles in the OLTP application.
Add new Oracle BI-specific responsibilities (Oracle EBS and Siebel CRM Applications) or roles (PeopleSoft Enterprise applications) in the source applications, making sure their names match the object security application roles in Oracle BI Applications, and assign OLTP users to these new groups. The users will then inherit the application role membership in the same way as described in the preceding method.
Application Roles in 11g are the Groups of 10g (http://blogs.oracle.com/robreynolds/entry/security_in_obiee_11g_part_2)

  • Implement OBI Apps 7.9.6 with Oracle EBS 12

    Hi
I have a couple of questions about the integration of OBI Apps 7.9.6 and Oracle EBS 12
The first is, which ETL tool is used for this integration? Informatica or ODI 11g
And the second is, my client is currently working on Oracle EBS 11 and plans to migrate to version 12, my question here is if the mappings and flows are fully supported version 11 to version 12 of the EBS or what I have to do to migrate?
I hope you can help me
    Greetings and thanks in advance

    Hi Luis,
Informatica is being used for the ETL. ODI will be an option when you move to Oracle BIA 11g (Fusion Application).
You should upgrade to the latest Oracle BIA (7.9.6.3) version for Oracle eBS. This prabably means that you have to move to Oracle BI 11g as well.
    Check the documentation here; http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/documentation/bi-apps-098545.html

  • Missing feature: APEX_APPLICATION_INSTALL not useful for TRANSLATED apps

    Hello, all and Joel Kallman.
Thank you Joel for confirming my bug reports yesterday. I have two more problems. One too simple to explain, another more complex but reproducable (related to ora-4031 in large pool with translated apps).
According to your blog post at YABAOAE
    http://joelkallman.blogspot.com/2010/07/apexapplicationinstall.html
APEX_APPLICATION_INSTALL intended to import application from command line.
It is great feature. But it is so great only for non-translated applications.
if I use translated application, I can't use ONLY command line. I still must logon to Apex Builder to SEED and PUBLISH before translated application wil be translated.
So, there are no expected benefits from using apex_application_install for translated application.
    Workarownd:
Didn't fint yet. Only manually clicking on seed&publish in Apex Builder.
Maybe I miss something easy and everybody kbows how to seed and publish from command line?
If so, please, let me know how to do it.
    Vladimir

    Hi Patrick!
Do you really think that it works?
It doesn't. Lets check it together.
All my DEV, TEST, UAT and other enviroments are on the same database.
In my example I will clone DEV to DEMO. Each of this enviroments has its own parsing schemas and workspaces.
1.I go to see DEV workspace. App 110 already seeded and published.
Home > Application Builder > Application 110 > Shared Components > Translate > Seed and Publish
I see there two mapped translated apps.
    Column "Strings" = 69.444
Please, remember this number. This number is the same for both mapped apps as they are seeded and published already.
    2. I export it with APEXexport including translation.
3.I import it into workspace DEMO as app 111 using great APEX_APPLICATION_INSTALL.
I preffer command line to export and import as it save time and reduce risk of mistakes. There are other reasons exists, not for this topic.
4.Now application is imported and I go to DEMO workspace to check result.
Home > Application Builder > Application 111 > Shared Components > Translate > Seed and Publish.
I see two mapped translated apps. It is good.
    BUT!
    Column Strings = 9251.
    Do you still remember 69.444?
To restore translations I must just SEED and PUBLISH manually.
So, there no way to create a copy of translated app WITH COMMAND LINE ONLY if the source and target apps are on the same database.
As APEX_APPLICATION_INSTALL intented to create a copy of application with command line, I tell you, it does not work for translated apps as expected.
    Vladimir.
