Navigate to url is producting a white flash before url loads
Hi,
I wonder is someone can help me. I have placed brief swf in an html page. There is a simple enter button which should load the next html page. I have used:
var link:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://www.adobe.com");
button_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onClick);
function onClick(event:MouseEvent):void
navigateToURL(link)
button_mc.buttonMode = true;
however there is a white flash screen before the url opens
How can I avoid this.
Thanks!
Hi,
Maybe it is only because the HTML background of the new page is white, so it shows before the swf is actualy begining to be in the page.
But a link to what you are doing would be helpful.

White flash before iFrame loads?
Hi all,
My site all worked good (nataimages.com) in Safari 3 but with Safari 4 I started getting this white flash in my portfolio page before iframe loads. It looks ugly. I started looking for the fix and I found out that it's something called FOUC (flash of unstyled content) and can't fix it.
Does anyone know the fix for it?
Thanks.

hey there- i am trying to put flash into iweb. It works, using code from iWebunlimited, but there is a white box that flashes before the video loads... I've tried so many different encoders, iweb code, etc..
see it here:
http://web.me.com/misterscott
Any idea as to what is causing the white flash before the video?
thanks so much......!!
scotti am trying to put flash into iweb
You succeeded as far as I could determine.
Anyway. The browser needs to download the files, puts them into place and render the lot.
That takes some time.
Also, every brand of browser has its way of doing that.
And black and white on a page is the largest contrast you can imagine. Use less contrasting colors. -
Safari white flash before loading a darker color page
Hi,
I wonder if this can be improved: my website's pages (in frames) have a grey background set and an additional grey image on top. In Netscape-Seamonkey, they load fine in grey color. In Safari however, there is an annoying white flash between two pages. Is there something that can be done about it? Thanks!
Paul>So, when you load the pages directly ... no white flash
I maintain actually another website, built on the same frame set (www.schilliger.com). It has only about 30 pages and they are mostly accessed by links located on the left frame. Once the first page has loaded with a white flash, then further browsing is without this annoying effect. Why it persists on the photo website is a mystery...
>Or, you might decide that its not worth it, and not enough users will see this as to make it a priority issue (as it initially appears to be Safari-only).
It's been this way for years probably. I seldom use Safari so I did not notice until the other day. And it's quite possible that I already asked the same question a few years ago but did not find a solution... Not a big issue in any case.
Thanks to All for the brain storming around this question!

Stage flashes white just before images load
Hello Forum members,
I have a strange problem. I have developed a Flash slideshow that loads 6 images from the web server using an xml loader (the image names are in an
xml file), then loads these images into an array. I have an xmlloader to read the xml file, and a Loader that loads the images from the array,
and then changes the images every 4 secs or so.
My problem is that when the web page is opened from a client, the space where the flash object is located (in a table)
flashes white until the images are loaded. I thought I could fix the problem by making the stage the same color as
the background on the web page. No dice, I still see a white box (800x320 px) that is the size of the stage, and the size of
the images.
When I compile it on my computer, if I look fast I can see a quick flash of white just before the images load!
The web site is: www.andiamoadventours.com. I did not develop the page, but put the Flash code in the index.html page.
There is quite a lot of javascript on this page, maybe developed in Dreamweaver.
Any ideas on this? I can attach the action script code if desired, for more clarification. Let me know on this.
Basically, the images reside in a folder on the web server, the xml file has the image names, the xml loader reads the xml file,
and when it is complete, goes to a routine that takes the name of the image from an xml list I create, and then loads an array.
I load the image into the loader, etc. This is clearer with the code. I am using CS4 and a document class, slides.as.
Thanks,
eholz1Hello dmennenoh
I replaced the old code with the swf object, and added a background color to the embedded definitions,
This solved the problem!
Thanks, I will keep this in my memory

White flash on projector load...
I'm sure everyone has figured out ways around this, but I
have not seen a definitive answer to solve this problem once and
for all.
This happens on both standard and shockwave projectors for
mac and pc. I have a swf in the project, but it isn't on channel 1
nor the first frame and it doesn't play until the user engages it.
I also have the a black splash screen and the stage itself is
black. The problem only occurs as the projector is loading.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. ThanksOk So. I tried making the article pdf, jpg, and png. No change. My folio is set to v26.
The best solution I've come up with is to not have a background image in the animation. If the animation has a transparent background and transparent poster, The background image has to be a static image placed in indesign. If the animation loads the same background on top of the poster then i get the white flash or the image will appear to have a color change.
So its work around that limits the use of animations. -
Empty Movie Clip Shows White Box before Movie Loads
Hi all!
I created a type of slide show template that imports external
swfs. Everything works, but the client doesn't like the white box
created by the empty movie clip that appears before the external
swf loads. Does anybody know how to get rid of this? Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated!

Using embedded SWF, get a white flash when its to play
Hi,
We develop e-Learning content using swf files embedded in
DCRs. We have started noticing a problem with the new Shockwave
player 10.1+ in that there is a noticable flicker or white flash
before the swf plays or is told to move on.
Has anyone had a similar problem? Does anyone know a
solution?
We are using Director 8.5 and Flash 8.0. files published for
Flash Player 5.0.
SimonWell dont all fall over each other trying to post a possible
solution ;-).
Seems that we found the problem. We use shared script
libraries (cst & cct). It appears that there is a line in our
lingo code that sets the flash sprite cast member automatically
direct to stage. Shockwave player 10.1 + does not seem to like this
on standard speed machines and causes a flickering border around
the flash animations, which is really noticable. The line of code
reads as so:
sprite(channelNo).directToStage = true
We simply commented this out and the page functions fine.
Incedently, if I manually set the flash cast member as direct to
stage, we get the same issue, only more exagerated. This must be a
bug in the 10.1+ player as we don't get the issue at all on
machines running the 8.5 player.

Mac OS 10.5 - White flash on fullscreen
Hi all,
When fullscreening any flash video, be it from hulu, Youtube, whatever there is a 5 or 6 second white flash before the video will go full screen. This is on Firefox 3, 3.5b3, and Safari. The problem went away after I did an Archive and Install and came back a few days later when I installed Flash Player 10 so I could view a 10 only application.
Is this a known bug? Is there any way to make it stop, or do I have to do another reinstall and not upgrade this time to get rid of it?
Running the 2.0 unibody Macbook fully patched with 2 GB ram.
Thanks!Hello, were you able to resolve this issue? I'm having the same problem on OS 10.4 with Anyconnect 2.2.
Thanks -
Firefox 31, Windows 8.1, AVG, Spybot, dusabked addins ni change, used several suggestions on internet, nothing works. changed proxy settings to manual 127.0.0.1 and port as suggested - no change, could I have an NSA reroute of firefox?
Before doing anything I started Tor Browser Bundle, then exited. Started up Firefox – no 4 secs delay, very minor delay but no white page at all it seemed. Then clicked on the Open New Tab (x) and saw a white flash then the new tab – again a .5 sec delay or less before the new tab appeared.
Shutdown computer. Restarted and clicked on Fireforx shortcut. No blank white page anymore and no delay except for a very minor one.
But still had the white page flash when loading a new tab from the small x on the current page tab. Saw a white flash, then the new tab loaded. Shut down computer, restarted same problem with the new tab click on the small x - .5 sec or less white flash then tab loads.
Went into Firefox Add-Ons and disabled a number of items. Surprise no white flash on loading new tab. Decided to enable AVG PrivacyFix 5.0.11 – miracle, no white flash at all on clicking the small x on the current tab. loaded veryfast no delay there.
Will alert AVG of this issue. But still very surprised that the original main issue of having a 4 secs delay with a completly whtie screen with nothing on it except white disappeared after launching Tor Web Browser throws me for a loop.
Have not tried BlueHell yet and wonder why I should now in addition to the fact that AVG is certainly far superior to it. But if Bluehell does a better job than AdBlocker, willing to try it.
Problem appears solved – Why did Tor fix main issue? -
White flash during iDVD transitions?
Whenever I apply a transition to a button (play movie, select chapter, etc.), I get a short, white flash before the next video plays. Doesn't seem to matter what type of transition I apply (fade to black, push, etc.).
How can I alleviate this issue?
Many thanks.
JeffThanks Sue... not sure that's it as I don't think I'm working with a slide show. I simply choose a theme to start... import a video (or two, etc.)... then select a transition for the button. If the transition takes me to the start of the movie (be it dissolve, fade to black, etc.), there is a momentary white flash, then the movie starts. Kinda annoying. I'll read up on the slide shows.

White flash on screen before chapter plays
Hi,
In a project in iDVD '08, when selecting a chapter from the chapter menu screen, there is a white flash before a clip plays. This happens whether a button transition is on or off.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks!Figured it out- this is an issue with the iDVD preview function. The white flash was not present on the disc image I burned.

Black screen flashes before opening gmail
Hi, recently I updated to Firefox 4.0. Since then, every time I visit gmail.com a black screen appears. After a split second it disappears again and the usual gmail log in screen shows up. Why is that and how can I get rid of that black screen flashing before gmail loads? Has it something to do with the ad-ons adblock, flashblock and noscript I installed? They never caused any trouble in Firefox 3.x
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Hi
Is there anothe product for enabling flash content.Pallavi,
Adobe Presenter is a plug-in application to MS PowerPoint that allows you to add video, audio, Flash and quiz content in to a presentation and then author it out as a Flash based presentation that can the be delivered to others via the web. You are asking about enabling Flash content. In what browser/application are you needing to enable Flash Content?
The 'Not a valid presenter' message is most likely due to you not have the rights to author content to Harvard's e-learning system, but without knowing if the URL is for a Connect account or some other e-learning platform, it's hard to give any useful insight. -
When viewing sites using URL-Keeper mechanism I get a white flash between every page, only with Safari - Firefox is normal. I have tried 2.04 and 3.03b same result.
The flash is an intermediate white page or white state while loading? Only happening with Safari.Thank you Aldershot
I have changed the encoding preferences in DVDSP, with no change.
I will try to change them like you said ever so slightly to see how that goes.
Even change the rendering option to 'Software' from 'Hardware'.
Boy did Software take forever & made no difference.
In the meantime I don't use the video thumbnails when I use the menu transitions.
