Navigating in save as

My G5 as suddenly stopped accessing my external hard drives, well to be more precise I have 6 macs on a network sharing 4 hard drives on a server I have set up using sharespace I can access 3 of the discs fine (up until a while ago all4) all the other macs on the network can access all 4. I can access and navigate this problem disc normally to look for search open and move files about. The problem only occurs when I try to save from within software as soon as I try to navigate to within the disc it crashes the software. I have tried photoshop, acrobat, freehand, illustrator with the same result. I have not changed any configurations that I know of to cause this problem. It is frustrating me as it is isolated to just one mac on the network communicating with one drive..any suggestions would help

Office 2008 has reportedly worked OK with Lion although I would doubt it's full compatibility. Office 2011 is fine with Lion.
Note that saving documents in Lion is not the same as previous versions of OS X. See OS X Lion- About Auto Save and Versions.

  • Enhancement request for Navigation Bar - save state before branching

    Hello,
I believe it would be nice and helpful to add the save state before branching option also to the Target section of a Navigation Bar Entry.
    Thanks,

There is no forum traffic to substantiate the reasons given for its removal. I certainly never encountered them. I don't see how it couldn't have been retained with documented restrictions.

  • HT5429 how do i suspend navigation to save my battery?

well that would just DELETE the app - why would i do that? the app is great, i just need to let it know when to stop using my battery to monitor my travels on a route i know (when it's gotten me back to I5, i KNOW the rest of the way home)
He's talking about the suspended app task bar that comes up at the bottom of the screen when one double clicks the home button, not the X in a circle that shows up when one holds down an app icon on the main display.  Pressing the minus in a circle at the upper left of the icon just removes the app from the background.
It is necessary to remove the app from the background task bar to fully turn off GPS because some apps keep GPS on line even when they are in the background.
Remember, X in a circle comes from clicking and holding an app icon on the main display--pressing the X will offer to remove the app from the iPhone.  The minus sign in a circle comes about when holding an app icon in the background task bar.

  • How do I get toolbars for Mozilla in Windows 8? I can't print an email, save it to a document folder. FRUSTRATING!!!

Where are the toolbars on Mozilla for Windows 8? There are no navigation, print, save as options. Have read several articles online, but when I right click on a blank space on a tab bar - no toolbar options show.

By the way, if you are in a pop-up window where you are prevented from showing toolbars, the keyboard shortcut for print is Ctrl+p and the keyboard shortcut to save a page is Ctrl+s. To open a new (normal) window, try Ctrl+n.

If you want to use 0COUNTRY as a navgational atttr. first go to info object 0BPARTNER and make 0COUNTRY as a navigational attr. save activate.
The go to cube or DSO and check Navigational attr box infront of this info object,
And then it will be available as a navigational attr in your query.

  • Scan/ Save/ Burn  Newbie

This is my first post, so please excuse me if I do something wrong and the fact that it is long.
Before I start I would like to say I spent hours trying to figure things out. Only to have my head hurt. I then decided to look through posts and solved a lot of the problem . Thanks to people like Terence, Old Toad, LarryHN and all the others that take time to answer questions us newbies don't know.
My goal: to scan and save then burn my moms old photos and negatives.
I have a Imac 0S X 10.4.11 and canon 8800f scanner . Software IPhotos, Adobe elements 4.0, Adobe bridge, Photostudio.
I am not using adobe bridge( at least I don't think I am) because it will not work with IPhoto from what i have read. And I am also not using Photostudio.
This is what I have come up with. I put a photo into scanner, open MP Navigator and Scan photo. I am scanning all photos in color 300dpi including the B&W. The negatives I scan in color 2000dpi.
After scan I save the file to MP Navigator in a Tiff. I then open IPhoto and import file. Is there a better way?
Thanks to you guys I can now open Adobe elements 4.0 while in IPhoto( I spend hours trying to figure that out before I read it) and I am slowly learning about editing with filters and unmask sharp.
The Questions: I read to scan B&W in color with RGB color profile. What is this and how to change setting? I open the scanner driver to ScanGear but I can't seem to find this.
I save this photos as Tiff and import to IPhoto where I can play around with editing. I read that I should save the original as tiff and work on a jpeg, just to save space on my hard drive. Also that I should have backup files.
So If I save the photo in MP Navigator as tiff, and I import it to IPhotos as tiff. When and how do I change and save them to jpeg? After I import the photos to IPhoto should I delete the photos in MP Navigator to save space on my HD? Or do I leave them there as my backup? I understand that saving as a Tiff is better but takes more space.I am going to burn the photos to DVD so my mom can see them on tv and give copys to my family so if they want to print some they can do it themself for the DVD. Is it better to burn them as a Tiff or as a jpep or does it make a difference?
I am not that computer savy and I have not had my mac that long so please try to answer in easy to understand way.
    Thank You

    tobra:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The reason for scanning to color for the B/W files is that iPhoto doesn't not support the grayscale color mode that scanners use for B/W scanning.
I'm not sure why you're saving to tiff as it's a much greater sized file and will eat up disk space at a horrendous rate. Since iPhoto always works on a jpg copy when editing you can scan to jpg and always have the untouched copy (i.e. the digital negative) available for use if desired. If you're a professional then the tiff may have some more significance.
Here's how to use Photoshop Elements correctly with iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
The reason for using the RGB color profile is that is what is used by Apple for it's printing services and what's used for the internet. Most inkjet printers will work better with the sRGB color profile.
If you're going to burn those photos to a DVD to play on a TV then the largest size needed is 740 x 580 pixels as that's what's used for displaying on TV. No need to over shoot the target. BUT you don't want to scan that small because the photos may be used for printing at some time in the future.
If you use iDVD to create your slideshows that will be played on a TV you'll want to crop the photos to a 4:3 ratio before sending to iDVD. This will fit the picture to the available TV safe area the best. You can opt to include the original full sized image file on the DVD disk along with the iDVD slideshow or just burn a DVD of the original scanned files.
Let me urge to to consider getting an external Firewire hard drive to be used for backing up your boot drive. You can use Time Machine to do the backups or use a backup application like SuperDuper (for cloning the entire boot drive or just the User folder and contents) or Synk Standard for backing up selected folders to the external with incremental backups each day.
IMO using jpgs for the intended use are just fine.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • BI Web Designer ; save as View

    Hi Experts ,
I have created the Web Template. in that i want a option that when the user executes the report , he does his navigation and saves the report as View when right click.  can you please advise how can i add that particular option in the WAD ...so that when the user right click .. he should get the option to save as view.
    thanks & regards,
    M.S

    Hi Viresh ,
This is actually a specific requirement that has come up. i think when you excute the report from Bex Query designer and when you right click on the report then you get the option filter and drill down by etc..there they want an another option to appear as Save as view.
    They do not want Bookmark.
    kindly advise.

  • Navigation suggestions by a cabbie

I have been a taxi driver and computer user interface design instructor. So I have to give few suggestions to the guys designing software:
Sometimes I need to force the start position be point A even, if the satellite signal is not available. E.g., I am pretty sure where my home is. Maybe it is not the GPS position, but anyway, a start position. And I need to start navigation there without waiting. Often I can drive the first kilometer without the GPS functioning.
When I go to a strange location, it would be nice that the navigator would save and show visually my route so that it would be nice to drive back the same way.
When I plan a route, I often need to see forward and the cursor should not all the time be in the middle of the screen.
When I see that the navigation is doing stupid route alternatives in planning or in the spot, I should be able in advance to fix them.
I need to zoom smoothly the map in all situations - and shift the screen so that I could see more where I want.
Often I want to keep North to the top so that in simulation or in navigation the map would not circulate wildly. It helps me to orientate better and understand where I am. Sometimes circulation is OK.
I need to simulate my way sometimes faster and sometimes slowlier.
I need to find and see the cursor and its direction better. The present light blue brackets/ square is not the best. It could be an orange arrow or something.
Buying the navigation license was too complex when first time in the traffic. I got only the choices Scandinavia or Western Europe, but no indication, whether Scndinavia is included in the WE in this package. This forces me to buy the same license many times.
I have a Finnish system. For some reason it gives the points of interest in Helsinki in Swedish language only. It is not only strange, but it is offensive, same as you would give the instructions of Estonia or Hungary in Russian, or of Poland in German. Also foreigners need Finnish or then English names in Finland.
Not only software; why the navigation button is more difficult than it was in 9500 or in 9000? The same: why so black dark colour, old users need light backgrounds.
I would suggest Nokia to make better user requirements analysis before programming.

    Thanks scoobyman, I did it.
You see how difficult it is to give feedback to the all-knowing R&D teams. It is a shame how they have forgot many good principles that the 30 years old graphical user interface pioneers, Alan Kay et al., told us (Xerox, Apple). The designers now copy user behaviour models from data base design and from object oriented programming, when they should analyse human behaviour as it is, and use those nice technologies as enablers only.
An example of wong type of data base design paradigm is the fact that no more you can find contacts by company name, by part of telephone number or e-mail address or city. Yes, there is the other find statement, showing that features are available, but too complex.
I can almost see the classes of Java, when the programmers have directed the design and not vice versa.
It is a generation shift that lies behind, but one should not overlook other very good experience and research.

  • Saving images from Safari to a folder of your own choosing....

... Other than desktop or another preset.
It's just that I'm more familiar with the Firefox/IE system on windows, i.e., you right-click, choose 'save as', pic your folder, etc... It's handy when you're grabbing a lot of different images with different destination folders in mind, and most of for sequential purposes... being able to give it a file-name, such as A01, A02 etc etc etc
Now, I don't seem to be able to do this on Safari, but surely there must be a way? Obviously, I know I can go to preferences>general>save downloa files to , but this is cumbersome when I want to save to one location for one file, another for the next, and most of, it doesn't allow me to name the files- I just have to go with whatever they happen to be called.
Is there any way around this? I'm at the point where I switch over to XP for this sort of activity, which is far from ideal.

    You're welcome.
Interestingly, Apple once had the behavior of that menu item reversed. That is, Control-clicking gave you the "Save Image As..." option, while holding down the Option key changed the menu item to "Save Image to the Desktop." They changed the behavior many versions of Safari ago, to some people's consternation. In Apple's defense, I think they were trying to make things easier and simpler for the less-experienced computer user, who might have trouble navigating the Save dialog box or figuring out where they had just downloaded a file.

  • Field Report: We Test Drive the Car Dock

The Droid X  can do a lot of things. But, can it do them all at once? That is the proposition behind the car dock. To me, this is the ultimate test of this multifunction device. The dock itself is just a big piece of plastic that can be suctioned to the windshield or (if you REALLY want to screw up a major piece of your car) it can be mounted to the dashboard via a glue-on disk. Simple enough. I mount my GPS devices to the far left bottom corner of the windshield (so I can actually SEE traffic ahead). My fusebox (2003 Audi A4) is just below that. So, pull a fuse and add a simple device that plugs into the fuse spot and gives you a place to slide in the fuse you took out, plus add another fuse to power the big red wire coming off of it. To this I crimp connect on a female cigarette lighter connector. Most parts from AutoZone or RadioShack. Now I have a spot to plug in the unit without running wires all over the dashboard. You can choose a fuse that is always on or only goes on with the ignition. Done? Nope. One little problem. The dock does not contain any connection to the audio out. You have to run a separate wire (UGH!) to the headphone jack. The dock does contain a little grip to hold onto the wire so it just leaves a short dangling piece of wire tethered to the unit rather than lying loose. A nice touch, but I would really rather they get it together with these Android devices and make a standard for a DOCK CONNECTOR!!! Sorry, my pet peeve with these phones.
Once mounted and wired I fire up the car and the phone. Great, the thing is charging (settings>about phone>status>battery status = Charging). I see that, because the phone is in a dock, you get a new "intro" menu instead of the home screen. It appears that the car dock and the multimedia dock have a big magnet in them that triggers some new menus in the phone when you place the phone in the dock. 6 BIG buttons. Easy to hit and giving you the right options (Calling, My Location, Music, Voice Search, Last App or programmable, and Close). You can see what it looks like without a car dock by going to the main apps page and choosing "Car Dock".
I choose music. Again, 6 big buttons (Replay, Start/Stop, Forward, Back, Shuffle, continuous play - at least I think that is what the 2 arrows in an oval shape mean. I never use it). I fire up the stereo and notice LOTS of ignition noise. The music starts and the noise is still there... unacceptable. O.K. Back to Best Buy for a ground loop isolator. They sell these in several flavors. Try to get the one (online - e-Bay) with 3.5mm jacks to minimize the number of adapters. Search e-bay for "ground loop" and pick the 3.5mm one. About $12 - $15 shipped.  I could only get the RCA jack unit at the local Best Buy, so, back to RadioShack for a bunch of adapters to get the 3.5mm cables in and out of the thing. Once done... silence. No noise. But, you have to tinker with the music volume via the rocker switch. Thankfully, they made the dock so the switch is accessible.
O.K. now we want to go back to that big car dock menu. Home button? No, you must press the Menu switch (or pull down the menu from the status bar at the top of the screen and choose "Car Dock" from there - remember, you are multitasking now). There it is. Choose "My Location". You get the screen with a map (after you turn on the method of location - GPS, cell towers, or both) and 3 buttons on the right side (Traffic, Nav, and Google Maps). There is also a little compass button on the bottom right (locate me) and a looped around arrow on the top right (return to the car dock menu). From here you have to choose "Nav" to fire up navigation. The next screen gives you the "My location" and "Endpoint" choices. But nowhere is there "Recent" available. There is a small list icon to the right of the 2 input boxes. Tapping the icon next to the "Endpoint" box gives you the choice to go to a contact's address. Pretty cool. But, if you tap the "Endpoint" box you get the keyboard. Here is where things get a bit weird. There IS a "recent" feature, sort of, but you have to actually start typing something to get at it. Once you type any letter and wait a couple of seconds, the thing tries to match a recent address with what you are typing. Type one letter and you get a scrolling list (left and right scroll) with everything beginning with that letter. OR, you can just tap the microphone button and enter the address via voice. Once you have a destination, you can nav to it. Music playing (volume set by rocker), navigating with voice commands that (unfortunately) click off the music and then click it back on again. I would have preferred it just left the music playing and did the commands OVER the music. Maybe in the next release???? Anyway, the navigate volume is also adjustable. When you have the nav screen up, the rocker switch will adjust the nav command volume.
Great! Tooling along, music playing, navigating to a destination. But, what about when a call comes in? Well, there is good news and bad news. The unit switches over to the call screen, music stops, and turn by turn voice commands cease. That's right. You better either stop talking or pull over. You MAY be able to switch back to the Nav screen to at least SEE the turns. I did not test that yet. I'll give the group an update next week. Also, your car stereo becomes the caller's voice and the units microphone picks you up. Totally hands free. And it is pretty clear on both ends (yours and the caller's). Call ends and you MAY go back to the nav screen. If not, you must pull down the running apps from the top menu bar and choose Nav. You can also choose Car Dock and get that menu to go to the music player or go to Nav.
On one trip, it performed flawlessly. On another it was a disaster. The address it came up with was correct but the location it showed as "you have arrived" was 1/2 mile short. Same street just not there yet. When I tried to enter in my address to return home the thing rebooted. Nav got wierd on the way home and I just gave up. I'll give it a few more trip to see if it is going to work reliably. Till then, running music and making/taking calls appears to be stable.
My recommendation: practice first before you actually have to use the navigate function. It appears a little buggy. Also, carry a dedicated (Garmin) nav unit along as a spare. These devices NEED a cell signal to pull the map routes. Unlike a dedicated GPS with the maps built in, these units need coverage to pull a map. If you are navigating and lose signal, that is O.K. because (we believe) it pulled the maps for the entire route. However, if you go off the route AND lose coverage, you may be stuck. With all the memory these devices have, you should have the option to take a gig or so and keep the entire country map loaded. Next release?
In summary, the car dock and multitasking capabilities work, mostly. Like everything Android, there is a learning curve and it ain't perfect.
    Good Luck,
    Mike

To answer some of your questions
1 - Phone Call - You can get back to Navigation simply when you are on a phone call. Just press hard button 'Back'. Sometimes you get back to the navigation sometimes not. If not, then pull down the notification menu at the top and choose navigation. Back to maps at that point. The only thing at this point is that you lose the little green light bottom left corner. That is your traffic that shows a potential traffic tie up.
2 - End point - You can use your contacts as the end points. For safety, I input places I want to go to to my contacts with their address's. That way it is much easier than to type in the address on the road. You just select contacts, then scroll up/down to the contact where you are going.
3 - You can close (put to the background actually) the car dock program by pressing close. I put an icon on the home screen for the Navigation program so I can go directly into navigation. You can also program one of the buttons for Navigation (the one called App) so you don't have to go to My Location to get to the Navigation. Saves a step or two.
4 - Yes I have had the phone reboot in the dock a couple of times (owned the phone since it came out). I had it reboot twice in one trip one day, but removed the app that I just installed the night before and had it happen maybe once since.
5 - Personally, I would rather the music cut off when voice is telling me directions, if I ran that way. I turn off the voice directions because I can see when to turn, and have become good at seeing the turn within .1 miles of the turn. If it talked over the music, you might miss voice. But that is my personal opinion
6 - I have not had the problem of the map being off. Every time it shows me at the location (with picture of the location) I have been less than 1/2 a football field from the destination.  Not minimizing your experience, I just haven't seen it happen to me.

  • Problem in loading of flat file transaction data into BI7

    Hi Experts,
I am new to BI7, got in problem in creation of Data source.
I have fields in flat file are:
    CUSTID,SREPID,MATID,PRICE PER UNIT,UNIT,QUANTITY,TRANS.DATE
one of the row under the above fields is
    C100,SR100,MAT01, 50,CS,5,19991005
    Created infoobjects are:
    IO_CUSID
    IO_SRID
    IO_MATID
    IO_PRC
    IO_QTY
    IO_REV
    0CALDAY
    IO_QTY was created with Unit/currency '0UNIT'
In creation of Data source, under field tab system shown extra CS field, I did confuse that which infoobject should be map to this field. At the same time i created IO_QTY with 0UNIT so when i entered IO_QTY under infoobjects column, system automatically created 0UNIT infoobject. I didn't completly understand why one of the unit (CS) sat under the fields column. could you clarify me please.
And also could you please tell me the procedure of creating transfer routine for sales revenue as we didn't have this object in flat file (SS). In earlier version of BW(Addison Wesley Step by Step book) i did this at infosource level. Here i am loading the data without infosource so just i would like to know is it possible to create transfer routine at DS level or do i need to create Infosource in this case. If it is the case also could you please make me understand with procedure to create transfer routine for sales revenue.
Your solutions will be more appreciated with points.
    Thank you,
    Shri

  • Slow moving items report

    hey
there is a standard query for Slow moving items based on 0IC_MC01. I need to find out the last goods issue and last goods receipt date on this query.
Any one has any ideas ?
    thanks
    Laura.

    Hi Laura
There is a standard query for slow moving items based Multi Provider 0IC_MC01
and query is : Query 0IC_MC01_Q0001 is available as of 3.0B (role: SAP_BW_0ROLE_0003).
But if you get some msg: Redesign Slow Moving Inventory
    then do this following
Please change the definition of the MultiProvider 0IC_MC01 and the underlying Query 0IC_MC01_Q0001. These changes are included with SAP BW
    1. Administrator Workbench
       -> Change definition of 0IC_MC01
          -> Activate navigational attributes
             0MATERIAL__0DIVISION
             0MATERIAL__0MATL_CAT
             0MATERIAL__0MATL_GROUP
             0MATERIAL__0MATL_TYPE
          -> Identification
             mark ALL displayed characteristics/navigational attributes
-> Save, check and activate 0IC_MC01
    2. BeX Analyzer
       -> Change definition of 0IC_MC01_Q0001
-> remove characteristic 0CALMONTH (free characteristics)
-> add characterstics 0MATL_GROUP (rows) and restrict it to
             variable 0S_MATG
-> remove calculated key figure 0IC_MC01_CK0003 (columns)
-> add new selection "All materials" accordingly to
             example "All customers" (columns)
             - use InfoProvider 0MATERIAL instead of 0CUSTOMER
             - supress this structural element in the properties
-> add key figures 0ISSVS_VAL and 0RECVS_VAL (columns)
-> Save, check and activate 0IC_MC01_Q0001
The selection "All materials" provides all material numbers that are
stored in BW. So you can identify materials that have had no movements
within in the selected period. These materials show no values in key
    figures 0ISSVS_VAL and 0RECVS_VAL.
For information purposes you can also add other key figures.
You can also add other characteristics in the drill down for grouping
    purposes, like e.g. 0DIVISION.
If you want to have similar reports with 0PLANT you can also create
    a similar MultiProvider/Query with 0MAT_PLANT instead of 0MATERIAL.
Hope you got some idea and help

  • Internet explorer 11 slow or not loading pdf

    Window 7 Ultimate SP1. Internet Explorer 11 Version 11.0.9600.17420
    Adobe Acrobat Reader X
    Adobe Acrobat Pro X
Since updating to IE11 pdf's are either extremely slow (twenty minutes at least)  loading or will not load just getting the blue circle.
If it does load, any instructions thereafter are again either slow or a no go such as navigation or save.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank You

    Hi Mugelbbub,
Are you still facing this issue?
What is the current  updated version of Acrobat X and Reader X installed on your machine.
Where are those PDF located are they hosted on some website?
Is this issue reproducible with different browser like Google chrome or Mozilla Firefox?
    Regards,

  • Template or Stationery?  Which is better to use for building pages?

I'm going to start building my tier 2 and tier 3 pages, and want the nav bar on every page to update with the new tier 2 pages that I add.
Will a template or stationery page update the nav bar? The content will change on each page, but as I add the tier 2 pages, those will become part of the navigation bar throughout the site. How do I do this, or maybe the better question is...which should I use, a template or stationery?
    I'm using GoLive 6.
    Thanks,
    Kirstyn Sierra

    NAVIGATION AS A COMPONENT:
Basically, you build your navigation into a separate file that only has the navigation links and save it as a Component. Then, in your site pages, you drop in the Component into the page where needed. Later, if you add a page, you add the link to your Component, which then goes through all the pages you dropped the Component into and updates them to match what you just saved. You then re-upload all your modified files so the copy online matches.
    SITE TEMPLATE:
You build the entire page design template structure, putting everything where you want. You define "editable" regions in the template for the content that changes with every page (the main body content - basically everything except the basic structure and navigation) and save it into GoLive's Templates folder. You make new pages based on the template, and everything's locked except the part(s) that change on every page. You add the page-specific content to the editable region and save. Later, if you make a change on the master Template file, those changes are copied by GoLive into any page based on that template, but it ignores the "editable" regions so as not to override the page-specific content.
Either way you go, you'd need to read the manual for your version of GoLive for the specifics on how to set up Templates or Components (and post back here if you run into questions). I don't have a copy of GoLive 6 installed, so can't spout the details off the top of my head :-)
