Navigation passing values question

Hi All,
I have two reports master and detail.
On the master report, i have an employee name column and the value interaction type is navigation which links to detail report. Is there anyway i can pass more than one value or employee id thru navigation link to detail?

Hi...
In your main report you are navigating to detail report based on values of employee name.. not with the employee ID.
But in detail report you have kept is prompted on empid..
How it could work... as you are not passing any empid values to your detail report from your main report... to apply filter on for empid values..
So if you want to navigate based on employee name then, you need to keep Is Prompted on empname only for detail report also..
So try it.. It works..

Simple Passing Value Question

Please help:
Using Oracle 10g - Apex 3.2
This seems too easy...simply want to pass the value of a radiogroup selected item to another page.
The first page (263) is a summary page displayed as radiogroup P263_SUMMARY_LIST :
CD Special Rate - 45
Checking Additional Rate - 33
Checking Special Rate - 25
Checking Waive - 1,139
After the specific item above is chosen the "Continue" button should pass the value of the selected item above to the new page 238 to a hidden field called: P238_PROD_TYPE.
What am I doing wrong? The "Optional URL Redirect" seems straight foward:
Set These Items P238_PROD_TYPE
With These Values &P263_SUMMARY_LIST.
Using javascript alerts I verified that P263_SUMMARY_LIST is populated correctly, but when I hover the "Continue" button and look at the url contents, I see that the receiving field value isn't populated.
Another thing that isn't clear to me...what is the source value or expression for the hidden page item (e.g. P238_PROD_TYPE)?
I've tried using a reference P238_PROD_TYPE and created a computation:

but still nothing!
Additional information (this all woks fine):
I probably don't need to do all this, but to ensure that the P263_SUMMARY_LIST has the value I need - I created an onload process with the following code that sets the focus to the first radio button and sets the value:

Here's the solution: apex 3.2
I was trying to accomplish the same functionality by setting the parameters @ Button level w/Optional URL Redirect
Only way I could get it to work was using the "Branches" section of page processing:
My Page 263:
1) Create a Button with Optional URL Redirect as "Target is a ----No Target---
Basically just create a regular SUBMIT button with nothing happening.
2) Create Branch
Point:
Branch Point ==> On Submit: After Processing (After Compution, Validation, and Processing)
Sequence ==> 10 (user defined)
Action:
Target Type ==> Page in this Application
Page ==> 238 (target page trying to pass value)
set checkbox ==> save state before branching
Set these items ==> P238_PRODUCT_TYPES
With these values ==> &P263_SUMMARY_LIST.
When Button Pressed ==> SUBMIT
The value is now passing!!! Still don't understand why this couldn't be accomplished @ Button level w/Optional URL Redirect (seems more logical to set it @ the source instead of a 2 step approach).

Navigate between 2 reports and pass values between 2 different columns

Hello
I have a question about navigating from 1 report to another while passing the value from column 1 to column 2 in the second report...
In OBIEE 11G, I create action link on report 1, column 1 and this action link is navigate to BI Content and the destination is report 2. Now report 2 has column 2, which is an alias of column 1 from report 1, from user's point of view they are the same, but from OBIEE point of view they are different.
My action link is able to navigate to report 2, however, the value in column 1 which I clicked to execute the navigation, does not get passed to column 2 in report 2..
Is there a way around this issue?

I think he meant the global namespace.
You set a :global_your_name_here to a value and that value is available in your entire application. See the help file section on the global namespace for more information.
Forms parameters are parameters that you form picks up from the outside when it starts. The calling entity must supply them in the URL or they will be set to null. You set them up in the object navigator in the Parameters node.

Pass values dynamically to the WHERE clause in SFAPI

We have a requirement to pass values dynamically (in the run-time of the interface) to the WHERE condition to our SFAPI query.
Eg -
SELECT person, personal_information, address_information, phone_information, email_information, employment_information, job_information, compensation_information, paycompensation_recurring, paycompensation_non_recurring, job_relation, accompanying_dependent,         global_assignment_information, direct_deposit, national_id_card, person_relation
          FROM CompoundEmployee
          WHERE last_modified_on >= to_date('LAST_RUN_DATE') AND
                       last_modified_on <= to_date('CURRENT_RUN_TIME')
LAST_RUN_DATE is stored in a custom entity for which we execute another OData query. The custom entity is updated with the CURRENT_RUN_TIME once the interface has been executed successfully. So the next time the interface is run it picks up the LAST_RUN_DATE from the custom OData entity.
SAP PO has the functionality to run a dynamic query for OData adapters. Refer to Note 2051137 - PI Successfactors adapter : Dynamic odata query and single synchronous sfapi query
Eg - select fields from position (this is what you state in OData query path in the comms channel; this is static); and you have an advanced tab in comms channel where you mention dynamicquery and set it to true (this points to a XSD which has the keyword TOP, SKIP & FILTER in it).
This gets the filter values passed from the BPM from another query (from a OData cust_table).
So the whole query is - select fields from position filter field a = x field b = y etc. Field a field b are fields in position that are you passing values x and y in run time of the interface.
SAP PO also has the advanced tab feature for SFAPI for dynamic query.
Question is -
how to use it?
has anyone implemented this before?
What does XSD will look like?
How do we pass values to the fields to the Where clause for SFAPI.
Any ideas are welcome!

After you have added a new where clause on the detail VO, try re-executing VO's query by DetailVO.executeQuery()
If it doesn't work try re-executing the MasterVO's query after you have added the where clause on the detail

How to add Navigation attributes values via ABAP while creation of CVC

Hi,
I have a requirement like, I have to add navigational attributes to the cvc record while CVC creation ( /sapapo/mc62 transaction).
There were two scenarios: 1. Usually when they load master data from BW side those navigation attributes available and when we do CVC creation it's automatically picks those values. If NOT then i have to bring Market segment and Business unit navigational attributes values from ECC via RFC function module by passing MPN and End customer division as a input.
I am facing problem when BW side if business unit and Market segment were blank.
Do we have any Function modules available to add navigational attributes data and should update corresponding master data tables.
Please help me step by step process on this.

Are you intending this as a commercial solution or a work around?
To take an existing equivalent, one would build a view in the database tailored for each grid in an Oracle Forms application. Or a separate query layered over tables for each form/grid in a Delphi or Access application? Even if it is ninety nine percent the same over half a dozen forms/grids?
And now you've added a whole slew of "slightly different" rowSetInfos to maintain.
So if you wanted to add a column that needs to appear everywhere... you've just increased the workload multi-fold?
That would be a management nightmare, wouldn't it? Not to mention yet more performance cost and a slower system?
Hmmmm..... I'm not sure I like where this is headed... someone needs to do some convincing...

Now i have a requirement that i Need to show this view from MVC controller.

Pass values between pages

Hello experts!
I am trying to pass value between two pages without page submit.
I set item value from first page to session state by dynamic action. Then I am trying to pass this value to second page, I use button which redirects to second page and sets item value on second page with value from first page.
But approach this does not woks as I expected. The value from the first page is not passed to the second page when I click on button. Value is passed to the second page only if I:
1. set some value to item on first page (e.g. XX);
2. click on button which redirects to the second page;
3. get back to first page;
4. set some new value to the item (e.g. YY);
5. click on button;
6. then the first value from session state is passed to sthe econd page (value XX)
Could anybody tell me where I make a mistake, or what is wrong in my solution?

Why do you want to navigate between these pages without a page submit? As APEX has to render page 3 anyway, why not submit and branch?

Cannot pass Value Using getURL() in Flex 2.0

I have pasted a piece of code to pass value using query
string,I am sure there wouldn't be any problem with code.But I get
error calling getURL() method.
The error I am getting on compilation is,

In the meantime, getURL has been changed to navigateToURL().
See the docs for details.
Also, I think you are mixing Flex 1.5 and 2.0. 2.0 does not
use a server, and you do not call mxml file directly. Instead you
compile the swf with FlexBuilder or the command line compiler, and
call the html wrapper.

JSP Custom Tags, Tag Handlers, Passing values

Multiple questions here while I try to work with custom tags (its a requirement):
From what I have had so far - I have a .tld file, a .java file and a .jsp page.
(this is not a working version as I just got it from a website)
platform: tomcat on an xp box.
I was wondering if we can pass the parameters that are passed to the the jsp page (like blah.jsp?param1=value1&param2=valu2 ) to the tag handler?
This is because the processing that I need to do in the handler would depend on what I have in the passed values.
Any help in letting me know where to place those files on the tomcat context root would help. Please see, I do have a couple of servlets running on the box also and they might be in the same context root.
Any good short tutorial link is also welcome as a short answer as I try to unravel the custom tags in jsp.

I am using TomCat 5.5
What I need to do using tags is to build a web-page on the fly by polling a couple of different tables in the database.
This is to be done using a jsp and custom tag (requirement) which would be able to handle any resultsets. We also have to come up with pageContext attribute names and supply column names as those attributes. Thus we will have to come up with the meta data file and a tag library descriptor as well.
I found a helloworld solution on a website and was trying to modify it to meet my needs. But I guess I under-estimated the work that needed to be done in this one.

I'd go about this a little differently (probably not the best way):
1. Create view object lk_department (lookup). In the query add a union with something like "select null as ID, 'All' as name' from dual;". This adds a null value that they can select by leaving the combo box on "All". Add a 'order by id" so the null value is the first one. When creating the combo box you want it set to navigation mode, so select the whole viewobject from the data palette rather a specific field.
2. Create a jTextField for the "Jobs" field.
3. Create an application module method that does something like:

Can applet pass value back to web page?

if i run an applet in a web page, eg: aspx
is it possible for me to pass value back to the page?

if say i'm playing a maze, which written in applet.
and the applet is run under a web page.Lika applets usually are.

Passing values to APEX items from external site

All,
Is it possible to pass values to APEX page items from an external web site?
For example, I have an external web site where users type in a username and password into fields. When they click the 'log-in' button in the external site, I would like to have those values passed to the APEX log-in page. If possible, I would like to have the APEX log-in occur 'invisibly' and the user taken directly to the home page of the app. If that's not possible, it would be nice to simply have the 'user name' and 'password' fields filled in on the APEX side.
I'm using APEX 3.0.

The general answer is yes. You can use the f?p syntax to set the value of any APEX item - http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32472_01/doc/appdev.300/b32471/concept.htm#sthref185 .
In your specific example, the main question should be is it wise? The mere fact that you are using a login process suggests you have something to protect in your application. The f?p syntax uses a plain text for the items’ value, which means that the user name and password will be completely exposed.

Using the call
navigation->set_parameter( name='myparameter' value = myvalue ).
you can set the page parameter myparameter to the value myvalue. This value can then be used for processing in the subsequent page.
If the form field (in the layout part) and the page parameter are of the type string and are specified by the same name (in this case, myparameter), the following abbreviation can be used:
navigation->set_parameter( 'myparameter' ).
Using the set_parameter you can pass only the parameters of type string. If you wish to pass more set of values then you can call a method and then export the values of the drop down.
