Need a Flash Based Image Editing Plugin

Hello all,
I am looking for a product out there I can plug into a website that will allow users to edit photos (crop, resize, tint, redeye etc). Any technology will be acceptable (Flash, Silverlight, AJAX .NET etc). So basically I am looking for a web based photo editing tool that will seamlessly integrate into a website. It can be a web based service or an included DLL etc. Anyone know of any products out there?
Just to note I am actually surprised a tool like this is that hard to find. One would think this would be a common request.
Thanks to any for the help.

Hey I can help you [email protected] or talk on MSNM

  • How can I get a flash based plugin to load in CC 10.x

    Hello
How can i get a flash based creative suite plugin to load in Indesign CC 10.x?
I can get It to load in CC, but not In CC 10.x. Im using Flashbuilder 4.5. Do I need a newer version of flash builder/extension builder?
    Best regards
    / Pontus

    Yes, you can!
You need to make sure that you are using: "Adobe CSAW Indesign" and not "Adobe CWSAW".
Also you need to hack the manifest.xml and write someting like this:
    <HostList>
                <Host Name="IDSN" Version="[7.0,10.9]" />
    </HostList>
To get it to load in CC 14.

  • I'm new to Apple and have a new Ipad.  I can't view some images because I need a flash plugin like addobe.  What App do I need?

I'm new to Apple and have a new Ipad2.  I cann't view images that need a flash plug in like Addobe.  What app do I need?
    D

Flash is not supported on the iPad, and probably never will be as Apple don't want it, and Adobe have never managed to create a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices - and Adobe have recently announced that they are stopping development on all mobile versions of it.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter Puffin and Photon 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, and there is the built-in YouTube app.

  • I still use Aperture 2.1.4.  I need to export an image file with a CMYK profile.  Whereas a generic CMYK profile is listed in ColorSync Utility, it does not appear on the list of profiles in the edit portion of the export preset dialogue.  Help?

I still use Aperture 2.1.4.  I need to export an image file with a CMYK profile.  Whereas a generic CMYK profile is listed in ColorSync Utility, it does not appear on the list of profiles in the edit portion of the export preset dialogue.  Help?  Is there some way to add the CMYK profile to the list of choices that are available in the export preset dialogue such that I can choose it?

Thanks for your response.  My profiles are located within color sync utility as you can see here:
These profiles do not respond to clicking and dragging.  Since they are all in one place, more or less, I'm reluctant to make further attempts to relocate them.  Accessing the CMYK profile is the first difficult experience I've encountered with this arrangement.  I have never needed the CMYK profile until recently, and that need has now past.  However, it remains a mystery to me as to why it does not appear with all the others on the menu of export choices in Aperture 2, or on the menu of profile assignment choices in the Preview application (where again all the other profiles are listed as choices).  I'm beginning to think my current set up will permit me to view an image that was created in CMYK space, but does not easily assign, or convert to that space.  I don't face these restrictions with all the others, so it remains a curious circumstance for me.  I anticipate upgrading my computer and software in the near future which might alleviate this issue altogether.  Again, many thanks for your attention to this matter.  The reach of this community is astounding.

  • Plugins not showing up in Images - Edit With... menu

I've installed several Aperture 2 plugins (I currently and using Aperture 2.1). Every user guide states I can find the plugins in the following menu: Images -> Edit With...
The only plugin I ever see in the is Dodge and Burn.
Like I said, I run completely through the installer for the plugins. It asks for permission, says its installing packages, writing files, writing scripts etc. When I right click on Aperture and select "Show Package Contents", I see no traces of my installed plugins in the "Plugins" folder.
Anyone know how I can resolve this issue?

I just reread your OP. The plugins should be stored in: Root (not User) >> Library >> Application Support >> Aperture >> Plugins >> Edit (or just plugins w/o the edit folder)
    Are they there?
I just installed that plugin you linked to, and it worked fine. Have you restarted, repaired permissions etc? Remember that the Aperture application HAS to be in the applications folder, not in a sub-folder and not renamed to function properly.

I tried to install several search engines and I always this anoying message:
Sorry, you need a Mozilla-based browser (such as Firefox) to install a search plugin.

    Check out these add-ons;

Make any pages' search functionality available in the Search Bar

  • Plugin-container constantly opens and closes when i try to acces flash-based stuff.

When i try to see any media that requires plugin-container to boot, it boots up and then immidiately closes, and boots up again and so forth until it just gives up. It doesn't affect anything else in the browser other then inability to use any flash applications, such as youtube videos, other types of video-services and flash-based games. The plugin-container for Unity applications works fine and is not affected. I tried to reinstall Firefox and reset it, but it didn't work.

Reinstalling the flash player solved all of the problems.

Flash cannot be viewed by the most popular web devices (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, modern Androids, etc...), and that list is getting bigger.  Why would you even think of using Flash for your web site?

  • Need help to batch color editing images on PDFs

We received PDFs (total few hundreds pages) with average 2 to 3 square-up images on each page.
    Our job is to:
    1. open up those PDFs, use the image-editing tool (right-click) from the Advance Editing menu to select the images one-by-one;
    2. then edit the color using Photoshop, with a pre-save curve
    3. save it and get the image updated on the PDF.
As you can see, it is a very tedious job for a project of close to thousands pcs of images to be edited in the same manner. Thus I were thinking of using scripts (preferable applescript but javascript is fine too) to perform the task but I don't know where to start from.
Helps and advices are much appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi try67,
Thanks for your respond. Is there a better way to perform the task other than do it manually?
    Thanks!

  • Browsers crashing presumably due to evil Flash-based content + updates?!

I haven't had a problem with flash-based content until a couple days ago, when I installed a bundle of software updates, including 10.5.7. Since then, I have tried to access flash based content, such as pandora internet radio, youtube videos, and the standard view of gmail. On Opera, Safari, and Firefox, (all in which flash-based content worked before) I was left with the spinning rainbow of grief!
I have disabled the plugins for Shockwave Flash, which allows me to get around but denies me the ability to view videos or listen to music, which frankly is pretty ridiculous. So I proceeded to find some other means for me to have access without the spinning wheel of horror!
So I uninstalled the Flash 10 that I had, and installed and older Flash version: MAC 9,0,47,0
Now, I enabled the Shockwave Flash plugin, and I am able to view videos on youtube and google video. However, I am not able to listen to music on Myspace (claims I need the newest version 10), Pandora, or Gmail in standard view. So...the spinning wheel strikes again.
I am completely frazzled, and have read countless articles, each leading me nowhere, but more frustrated with Apple and their products. I have come to the conclusion that the browser, nor the sites are the problem.
The problem originates either from Macromedia Flash, OR the Software Update bundle Apple insisted that I install. I have a suspicion it's the latter. I know other people have been having similar problems with their Macbooks.
I've also noticed that Expose and Spaces are having very sluggish response times.
I'm looking for a solution, if anyone has found one.
Here is a recent compilation of my Software Update log:

I'm experiencing the exact same thing. I think the problem here is the 'Debugger() was called!' line in the console. For some inexplicable reason, the production release of the Flash 10 plugin has a debugger call left in it, and so Flash throws to the debugger. The call doesn't seem to be ignored, but the browser just blocks waiting for the return of a debugger that isn't there.
I'm not sure how Adobe managed to leave this debugger call in the production release of the plugin, nor why the browsers are attempting to throw to the debugger in binaries that are not being run under debugging. I would assume the debugger calls would just be ignored when the app is not being debugged. I'm a developer and I have Xcode installed on my machine, so maybe that has something to do with it.
So, I don't have a solution. I do remember having this problem before a while ago, for the exact same reason, and at some point it went away. (Presumably when Adobe released a new version of the plugin that removed the debugger call.)
By the way, I really wish posts on this site that make any reference whatsoever to repairing permissions would be filtered out. You have to wade through a 10:1 ratio of posts for absolutely any problem on this site that excoriate people for not repairing permissions before posting, versus posts with actual useful advice. If they guy above had just read the original post he may have seen what's going on. Instead he just ran a pattern match for 'repair permissions' against the post, didn't see a match, and pasted in his useless boilerplate about repairing permissions.

  • How can I pubish SWF interactive magazine to flash based website? It's not working!

I hope someone can help me launch my first interactive magazine (SWF) to our website with ID 5. Okay, my hard copy mag came out great so then I started on the interactive edition. Everything was going swell with adding 3 short videos ( FLV  ) and creating 3 slide shows. When I previewed it by exporting to SWF I could preview it in my browser fine. Page curls, fade in words (although the “hide until animated” options only works in two out of about 7 instances. (same settings) file:///C:/Users/lauralaptop/Documents/NEW%20PUBLICATION%20QUARTERLY%20JOURNAL%202011%20se pt%202/LIFE%20apr-may-june%202011%201st%20issue%20INTERACTIVE%20TRYOUT%20Aug%2031%204pm.ht ml
I then followed instructions from another Adobe exercise, exported it to Flash, went to Publish Settings, but of course when I pressed “publish” I didn’t get the same result as the teacher…I got an error message about text. I searched a forum with the same message I got and saw that making sure my text setting was set for Classic, solved someone else’s problem. So I did and was able to “publish”. But now, when I open either the SWF or HTML file, it’ just rapidly repeating the 12 pages in my file in a loop!
    file:///C:/Users/lauralaptop/Desktop/LIFE%20apr-may-june%202011%201st%20issue%20INTERACTIV E%20TRYOUT%20Aug%2031%204pm.html
I have spent most of the summer self teaching myself InDesign CS5 (not easy!) and am excited to be able to put out an interactive SWF file that can be opened in a Flash player through our Flash based website. I feel like I’m just inches away for launch but now I’m getting frustrated. Isn’t this going to be possible?
Also, when I publish it in Flash, it creates a SWF file AND an HTML file. But on our website, I have only one option to make a link to a document OR an outside link to open a file. How does that work?
Many thanks for whoever can help me out here. This was supposed to be a spring issue. Had to change it to summer and now I guess it’s a fall launch!

Thank you for your quick reply, Rob. Well, i can't open the link you gave me to mysite (got a 404 error), could you resend it?
Originally, I exported the file to SWF (player) and just tried to link that file from our flash based website. It opens fine, page curls fine, slide shows fine, but when you click on the photos with videos, page 5 (father and baby) and two others, the image disappears and only a white comes up to fill that area.
http://scpres.org/#/media-sermons-online/our-publications. Could you go to this link on our website to see what I mean? Go to the NEWSBREAK TRANSFORMS and click on the Life, Stories of Transformation.
Rob, here is where i have very limited knowledge: As I said we use a flash based (read very user friendly) web hosting company. When I am in the back end to upload the swf file, I have only one option  - "attach a video, attach a document, attach a link" so how would I upload a "folder" with more than one item to the server?
I thought it would be considered a video since the SWF file says SWF movie, but when I when i try to upload as a video, it doesn't come up as importable. (am i sounding really stupid?) Maybe I should admit that yes, I'm an ID5 newbie AND yes,  I'm no spring chicken but I have been working in CS2,3,4 for several years and now 5 and am quite proficient in the create aspect of Adobe products. It's just now the technical part about how to actually get my  in work published to the site. There isn't anyone else in my company able to help me so I have to reach out to this forum!
I love ID and this is just my first effort but I'm looking forward to creating many more interactive magazines for my company.
    Thanks for any help.

  • Does my 2008 macbook pro need adobe flash player and why is it so slow?

I was at another question and they had recommended downloading EtreCheck to get their question.
I am trying to find out if I need Adobe flash player installed?
Also, my Macbook Pro works fine online for speed, but opening any applications (pages, numbers, iPhoto,) anything installed is painfully slow.
    It plays youtube just fine.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press thereturn key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press returnthree times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Aperture, Photoshop, and Apple's possible direction for Image Editing

    All,
After using Aperture now for several days, and reading many different forum topics, in particular this one which speaks of desired enhancements to Aperture:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=253594&tstart=0
there is one thing that really sticks out on my mind. While all of us photographers have slightly different specifics to our workflow, in general they are very similar. And with respect to Aperture, there is one huge area where most of us seem to be hitting the brick wall: image adjustments, and by extension, image file management. Let me explain what I mean.
I think it is a fair generalization to say that the vast majority of serious digital photographers are using Photoshop (or some other image editing app, but I'm just going to refer to Photoshop for convenience) for post-processing of some kind. In using Aperture, and figuring out how to fit it into workflow, we've got this situation of how to move from organization and image library management to the full gamut of image adjusting functionality (photoshop) and back again to library management. The need to use photoshop then exposes the issue of how files are stored on the filesystem, etc. Stay with me here...
I have found myself thinking, and it is pretty clearly demonstrated in the forum topic mentioned above where folks are making suggestions for improvements to Aperture, that there's this barrel people are over in knowing whether Photoshop and Aperture should live in the workflow together, or whether Aperture should (or is intended to) replace Photoshop in the workflow. This got me to thinking about the fundamental question -- what is the intent, i.e. the vision for Aperture? Is it meant to replace Photoshop, or restated, is Aperture meant to be the app in which all image adjustments are to be made, OR is Aperture meant to just ease workflow, and is it intended not to be the primary app for image adjustments, but rather integrate with the primary image adjustment app?
The reason I bring this up is that the answer to this question makes all the difference in what enhancement requests and what people should expect from Aperture now, and in future versions. If Aperture is the primary place for image adjustment, then its obvious that there are some very significant additions that need to take place to Aperture, and likewise, the issue of putting images on the filesystem becomes much less important. However, if Aperture is a workflow-easer, then such image adjustment improvements are minimally important if at all, and filesystem / Photoshop / PSD file integration becomes paramount.
I know what Aperture does, what features it provides, etc. But I can't help but realize that its not really that clear (or I just don't understand yet) what the full scope of Aperture now and in the future is intended to be, and the forum topics are pretty decent documentation of the fact that the user base at this point is fairly cloudy on that too.
I can't help thinking that in the midst of the Apple pro line of tools, where we have tools that edit: video, audio, DVD creation, text effects, and now digital photography workflow, that there's one glaring hole: static image editing, i.e. a direct Photoshop competitor. I went through the Aperture video demos before Aperture shipped, and watched these photo pros talk incessantly about how "now there's an app that addresses how I work -- Aperture". That's great, but Apple has to know the role that Photoshop plays in present photography workflow -- for those pros too. So I'm sitting here thinking to myself, why would Apple roll out such a product with some clear workflow hurdles to common Photoshop usage.
Ok, here's the punchline: does anyone else here have a sneaking suspicion that Apple is not to far off from releasing their own image editing application that's a direct Photoshop competitor? I mean come on, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Sountrack, and by extension of the CEO to Pixar, Renderman. How can you not have a static image adjustment application entering the scene at some point?
I'm curious what others think. I'm just trying to make sense of how to fit the neat stuff I see in Aperture into a workflow that doesn't play very nicely with Aperture at some points (because I'm using Photoshop).
    Brad
    Powerbook G4-1.33GHz-17" / Powermac G4-1.4GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   PB: 1GB RAM, Radeon 9600-64MB / PM: 1.25GB RAM, Radeon 9000Pro-128MB

    So Apple adds curves adjustments,
we'll need noise reduction, greater sharpening
capability, etc., etc., and then when we have all
those features, surely we'll need masking and select
capability to perform those adjustments selectively,
    etc. Where does it end?
Actually that could be a good cut-off point - add a few more/better 'global' adjustments but leave all mask, selection and layer based tasks to external editors. Personally, I used to swear by curves, but haven't really touched them in PS for a year since shooting more RAW and learning how to use the shadow/highlight adjustment properly. Sometimes for overall colour for JPEGs, but that bit can be done just as well in levels.
My workflow isn't particularly typical, but here goes.
Type of photography - stitched panoramas as a professional, plus general snapshots/nature/landscape as hobby. Single user with no network storage.
Currently I use a very organised folder structure in the Finder, along with aliases in DragThing docks for easy access to final stitched files, all with their own unique ID. RAW conversions are done in ACR/PSCS2, or Bibble if I'm in a hurry on the laptop. About 40% of the panos are shot in RAW, 40% are bracketed JPEG and the remaining 20% are 'single' JPEG. The panoramas go through quite a lot of post-processing in PS using a whole series of actions and AppleScripts.
I'm expecting my workflow to look something like this:
    1) Download directly into Aperture, possibly with added help from Automator/Applescript when it comes to proper date-based names.
    2) Divide download into a new album for each panorama.
2a) If it is a people pano there will be quite a lot of duplicate shots for each panohead position - make a stack for each position and choose picks - this bit will speed things up enormously by itself. Reorder stacks to fit correct order of images going around the scene.
    3) Export to TIFF (sometimes JPEG) and stitch using PTMac (sometimes Realviz Stitcher). Oh, and any people who think Aperture is limited, buggy and bad value should go and look at Stitcher - it costs the same, has a far more limited feature set, is on version 5 and by comparison makes Aperture look bug-free.
    4) Bring stitched panorama into Photoshop to adjust seams through layers if needed, flatten, final tone adjustments (usually using shadow/highlight), possibly some colour tweaks, sharpen. For bracketed shots I will blend together the three exposures at this point using a custom action - this kind of thing is unlikely ever to make it to Aperture.
    5) Bring final print-ready file into Aperture for cataloguing/backup.
5a) If file is too big for Aperture, make a smaller version for cataloguing and store original file in Finder. This gives me a good file for 90% of purposes, with the huge file available with a bit more work.
Too big? I've found that Aperture gets sluggish with files over 18-20,000 pixels wide, and chokes totally somewhere between 25,000 and 32,000 pixels wide - 'image format unsupported'.
To summarise - organise and convert in Aperture, stitch in specialist software, do PS-specific stuff then bring final image back in to join the source images.

  • Flash-based site will not appear; works in IE9. Can't see why

I'm an appraiser who uses a site produced by Core Logic called Realist & I use it every day. This site is - I think - flash based. When I go to the site I see the that the screen is loading with a progress bar, and when the bar is done, the screen is blank.
I have been using this software all along, but just reloaded Windows 7 Pro. I have Bitdefender as the antivirus. The thing is, this site works just fine in Internet Explorer 7 - so I don't see that it's a problem with Windows. This is strictly a Firefox problem and if not resolved, I'll have to stop using it almost immediately. I have no time to waste on browsers that cant view websites I need.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:
