  • Docs and examples

    Hi,
    First, the Cairngorm framework version 3 seems to be quite good - so hats off to the people behind the project (Alex, Francois, etc.)
    However, it would be really useful if you can convert all this scatterred HTML click after click online not easily printable documentation into a single (or multiple) coherent document, indexed with TOC - preferably PDF, similar to the Flex manuals. Further, Adobe consulting claimed that "a lot" of apps have been built using Cairngorm - can you provide some more real world sample apps with code - so far only have the old Conreats example.
    Can you please put some more effort to make this project successful since developers are investing a lot of time and effort by selecting/learning/adopting the framework - it seems even several outside groups that are not entirely vested in Flex and dont have much to gain, have spent a lot of effort developing open source frameworks (Swiz, Parsley, etc.). Whereas Adobe makes zillions of $ overall - can it not afford a few more resources on an important project like this that can make Flex and Flash pervasive ? It should payoff handsomely in the long run, besides being the right thing to do.
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Thanks for your comment Gary.
    I'll foward your message to my managers and try to get some "official" "budgeted" time for better and more documentation. :-)
    You are right, if they have zillions, they should share it :-)
    Meanwhile we will continue pushing
    * new content in our wiki on sourceforge.net at http://sourceforge.net/adobe/cairngorm/home/
    * samples in svn, a new one will come from our latest MAX presentation cf. http://www.jroller.com/francoisledroff/entry/flex_and_lcds_best_practices
    * and eventually whitepapers and more blog post around Cairngorm3.
    As for the Cairngorm3 reference page, it's actually a very good remark we'll publish a list and post it in our wiki (may be we could add your project in the list if you wish to tell us more about it)
    And if anyone out there feels like contributing docs , samples or code... please feel free.
    We really want cairngorm3 to be comminity driven (and not Adobe only).

  • Incorrect/outdated docs and examples?

    I was reading about the advanced section on BackingMap events - Advanced: Backing Map Events (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15357_01/coh.360/e15723/api_events.htm)
    I could not find AbstractMultiplexingBackingMapListener in the API docs nor did I find the correct method signatures as shown in the example. Is there something missing or deprecated in 3.6?
    Where can I find the correction versions of the docs?
    This example shows non-existent APIs:
    public class VerboseBackingMapListener extends *AbstractMultiplexingBackingMapListener* {
            public VerboseBackingMapListener(BackingMapManagerContext context) {
                    super(context);
            @Override
            protected void *onBackingMapEvent(MapEvent mapEvent, Cause cause*) {
                    System.out.printf("Thread: %s Cause: %s Event: %s\n", Thread.currentThread().getName(), cause, mapEvent);
                    try {
                            Thread.currentThread().sleep(5000);
                    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
                            // add Auto-generated catch block
                     e.printStackTrace();
    }

    Hi Ashwin,
    The class AbstractMultiplexingBackingMapListener can be found in the Coherence Incubator Common project:
    http://coherence.oracle.com/display/INCUBATOR/Coherence+Common
    The doc implies that this class ships with Coherence which is not the case. I'll raise an issue with the documentation team.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • Examples about ABAP Proxies and Web Services creation

    Hi everybody.
    I have been reading SAP NW PI 7.1 help about Web Service creation and sincerely, I am a bit confused. Also I have searched SDN forums, blogs and documents but my confusion persist.
    I will try to depict my integration scenario below.
    SLD are conformed by two machines: SAP ECC 6.0 system, client 100 and SAP PI 7.1 system, client 001.
    There are two integration scenarios.
    1. ABAP Client Proxy -> PI -> Web Service
    I need to consume a Web Service provided by a third part. They provided me with WSDL files and I imported them into ESR. I already construted all other objects (data types, message types, etc.). In the examples I found I cann't see what to do with those definitions, I don't find any suitable example. This is an asynchronous scenario. The Web Service will be consumed from SAP ECC 6.0 system through an ABAP Cliente Proxy.
    2. Web Service -> PI -> ABAP Server Proxy
    I need to provide a Web Service for others to consume it. I already have created the WSDL for Service Interface I created in ESR using the respective wizard in Integration Builder. This is an asynchronous scenario. The Web Service will be consumed by others outside landscape configuration. When the Web Service is consumed must run an ABAP Server Proxy.
    In spite of my investigation about Web Services building in SAP NW PI 7.1 I cann't finish my work successfully.
    I just need a good example, any suitable example for each integration scenario.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rafael Rojas.

    Hi,
    1. ABAP Client Proxy -> PI -> Web Service
    1. Create all necessary objects in ESR
    2. Create integration scenario objects with PROXY as sender SOAP or WS adapter as receiver
    3. Create client proxy in your SAP backend using SPROXY
    4. Create ABAP client proxy to execute the proxy which then will call your PI runtime to execute the webservice.
    2. Web Service -> PI -> ABAP Server Proxy
    1. Create your necessary objects in ESR
    2. Generate server proxy in your back end system
    3. Create integration scenario objects with PROXY as receiver and SOAP or WS adapter as sender
    4. Generate WSDL from integration scenario and pass it to your partner.
    You can find many blogs which discuss these steps in more detail.

  • I  need to scan docs and send by email

    I need to copy the steps to scan docs and send them by email.   I scanned 1 doc and my computer indicated it was sent to Adobe Acrobat pro 9 bur I couldn't find it to email.  I only have a medium need right now@@@

    Best to do --- open the Scanner software user manual (one comes with a scanner and the software you have to install).
    As well, review Acrobat's Help re: Scanning.
    Doing these two things the best way to ensure that most times most scanning you do is understood by you.

  • Need XSDs, API Java Docs and Java (with callback hooks) extension sample

    Would someone(Sue Harper?) please give us an ETA on when the info we developers need to develop extensions to SqlDeveloper will be made avaialble by Oracle?
    We have been waiting over a year to:
    1. Get the XSD files the poster refers to - the list of XSDs is on the page cited but all of the links take you to a generic download page and the XSDs are nowhere to be found. These must exist somewhere so it is very frustrating that no one on the development team will provide them.
    2. Get the API Javadocs so we can understand the java classes available and how to use them. As with #1, these must be available to the development team so why won't Oracle release them to us?
    3. Get a working example of a Jave extension. The lone example provided is not useful since it is really just an XML extension written in Java.l A useful Java extension would show how to create the hooks to cause SqlDeveloper to perform callbacks to the Java extension code when certain user actions take place. Same here as with #1 and #2. It's hard to beleive that someone on the dev team doesn't have the code for a simple Java extension with callbacks.
    JDeveloper has 'hook' elements in its example extension.xml files but there is no documentation for SqlDeveloper to show the equivalent.
    Please either provide the above requested items, provide an ETA on when Oracle will provide the items or at least be gracious enough to tell us Oracle won't provide the items.
    I'm sure there are many like myself that would love to start working with extensions but can't because Oracle won't share information and data that almost assuredly already exists.
    Waiting patiently. . .

    Hi,
    I'm sorry are feeling so aggrieved by the apparent lack of response from the SQL Developer team. There is a lot of information on the Oracle Wiki, where it has been available for well over a year. The detail and examples were initially created and published in 2008, while the xsds were added earlier this year. The recent OTN migration (in July) broke the links to the xsds, which I was unaware of and am glad you brought that to my attention.
    I see from your note that you have found the Oracle Wiki and the examples, so your complaint is really that the examples are not sufficient. Oracle is not hiding the detail, and we have every intention of adding more. This is just like any other feature request in the product. We are prioritizing the work that must be done and right now the team is focusing on those features most requested by the broadest audience. We do plan to add more and it was on our feature list for the next release. Like all features features proposed for future releases, we can't guarantee they will be included and we don't provide dates. The advantage of this particluar "feature" is that it is not dependent on a release date and can be updated after the next production release.
    We already have a number of customer teams writing Java extensions to the product very successfully.</p>
    <p> I will update the wiki withthe XSD link, but until that is done here they are:<br>
    Dialogs<br>
    Displays<br>
    Editors<br>
    Navigators<br>
    Query<br>
    Snippets</p>

  • Need to update Enddate on Garnishment Doc and G ordr usg BDC in trans PA30

    Hi
    I have done the Record which changes the end date on the garnishment Doc and Garnishment Order in transaction PA30. But i need to run a program in a batch which will read the data from a flat file and update all the employees above date.
    Now i got the reading from the flat file part done. But the Automatically created program from BDC is not updateing. Its looping through and every thing but the following part is not working. BTW the Auto program added lots of field and stuff. but i just need to update Enddate every thing else should be the same. so i commented out some of the lines. And I was trying to get only the employee number from the flat file. But if i need more stuff as input that can be arranged too.
    So here is my code where it suppose to update the endda. Please tell me why its not working...

    Were you using third-party software when the panic occurred? Is the panic repetitive or it just happened once? IN the latter case it could simply be a software glitch. But if it's repetitive then there's some other problem either hardware or software. Use the Console application in the Utilities folder and review the console log around the time of the panic to see if there are additional clues to the cause of the panic.
    The error indicates that the problem was a failure to respond to an interrupt by the CPU. Now this could simply be caused by a software glitch, but it could be a hardware problem related to the CPU. In the latter case the panic would probably become repetitive, in which case you would want to take the computer in for service to be sure the CPU isn't failing.

  • I need some working examples with pl/sql records and pl/sql tables.

    i am new to pl/sql tables and pl/sql records. i need some working examples on pl/sql records and pl/sql tables from basics to hoghlevel.how to use then procedures and functions and packages.

    i am new to pl/sql tables and pl/sql records. i need some working examples on pl/sql records and pl/sql tables from basics to hoghlevelThere is no such thing as PL/SQL "+tables+". This is a misnomer and creates the perception that a PL/SQL "table" is somewhat like a SQL table. Nothing can be further from the truth. The correct term is "+collection+" or "+associative array+". Compared to SQL tables, these are very primitive structures, very rigid structures, cannot scale, and can be quite expensive memory wise.
    That is not to say do not use an associative array or collection. These are very useful tools.. but only when applied correctly. Like using a collection for a bulk fetch to transfer more rows between the PL and SQL engines and thus decrease context switching.
    Unfortunately, quite often we see the row-by-row and slow-by-slow approach - where the developer uses SQL as an I/O only layer, pulls rows into expensive PL engine memory into record structures and arrays, and then process the rows there.
    So before looking at working example (even the wrong approach's code will compile and run and work in practice), make sure that you know the fundamentals of correctly using the PL engine and correctly using the SQL engine. And these fundamentals can be summed up into a very basic rule:
    Maximize SQL. Minimize PL/SQL+
    Get this rule right, and you will have a sound foundation for writing performant and scalable Oracle applications.

  • Hi - I have just bought my first IPAD and I need to transfer from my MAC a 'recipe file' consisting of many, doc and docx files - I have also just bought Keynote to do this but I can't seem to transfer,, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

    Hi - I have just bought my first IPAD [3 rd gen, no wifi] and one of the things I want it to do is to accept transfered word files
    preferably as folders from my MAC - I just bought Keynote but it doesn't seem to work. My files are all doc and docx so I think
    perhaps looking into it more I should have bought Pages instead,, but I don't want to spend more money on another app if
    possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?
