but as you are suggesting perhaps there is a 'better way' to do this now with the new Listener and Apex RESTful web services. I think it is great that we can now create RESTful service pretty easily from queries on one database through the Workspace RESTful services module, but how to ACCEPT values eludes this 'newbie' user of web services.

RSZCOMPDIR --> RSRREPDIR -->AGR_HIER
From RSZCOMPDIR get all the entries of queries.
compid is query name, take compuID and pass to RSRREPDIR.
get genuniid and pass to AGR_HIER's sap_guid.
AGR_NAME in AGR_HIER is role name.

We are in the process of migrating from BPC7 SP12 Microsoft sql server to BPC10 netweaver on a sql server with BW7.4 and need to integrate our home grown data warehouse which is on a Microsoft sql server. The data warehouse currently connects to BPC7 using integration services/analysis services and runs mdx queries to analysis services to retrieve data from the BPC7 cube (view only). Please provide documentation on how to create this same integration with our data warehouse using BPC10 netweaver on a sql server.
When you were setting up your ODBC data source for

button? There's a lot of options in there that I
didn't understand at first glance.Yes I clicked on the options button, but the only thing there is dealing with file extensions. I left it set to the default.
I have since tried closing my connection after I insert a record, I then try executeQuery, but still no luck. Seems strange that I can write to the file but not read from it. If any thing I'd expect the opposite problem.
I have also tried using the class "JoltReport" from the sun tutorial instead of my own with the same result.

Physical Data Service to Oracle Stored Procedure Package
i'm calling a package with the following signature:
PROCEDURE QUERY_ENTITY (

When defining the data source what to I type the OUT parameter as? My DBA tells me that it returns a reference cursor. I've randomly chosen quite a number of things which results in the error "Relational wrapper excpetion. could not find the corresponding sql type for output parameter P_RECORDSET.
Has anyone written a Physical DS that connects to Oracle Packages that return a refernce cursor rather than a specific data type?

You should probably be using "function" instead of "procedure" in your dataservice. You should only be using procedure (XQSE) if you are updating. Not that this is related to your problem - it's just something you should know.
Now for the REF CURSOR. You need to figure out what columns are being returned, and then define a schema to match, then use that schema as the definition. If you are lucky, the REF CURSOR will actually be a cursor from selecting on a table. If that is the case, you can create a new physical data service based on that table - which will result in a schema being created with the same name as the table. Then create a new physical data service based on the stored procudure, the type of that parameter should appear as "Unknown". Edit the parameter types and specify the type in the schema that was generated for the table. -

Would like to know how plsql in oracle may access data service in ODSI?
Have to use web service? or more 'native' library in plsql?
Thx!ODSI can be accessed as a webservice, as a jdbc connection using the provided jdbc driver or using the java client. Check the PL/SQL documentation to see what is possible.

Error in Validation Platform on Data Services
Hi again!
I´m doing a Validation from a query result. I have two links, one with FAIL and othe with PASS. When the query result is validate OK, the link PASS go corretly and write "hello" in a flat file BUT when the query result is validate FAIL, the link FAIL not work correctly, because it must write "bye" in the same fla file and don´t write anything.
What´s wrong?
The validation it´s only a check Field1 is null and the Action on Failure is send to fail
It´s necessary to do 2 validations if i want to do two links (one with FAIL and other with PASS) ??

The validation it´s very simple. I have a Query that it could give me null or a valid result, so i put the platform Validation.
Inside the Validation I activate the validation for the Field1 (the field result) and check if IS NOT NULL. In the Action on Failure i check "send to pass" so i supose that if the result is of Field1, it send to fail and in a new query, give the value "bye" (it´s to know that validation works correctly when the results ins null).
When i run the dataflow, if the Query give me the result correctly, the Validation go to "send to pass" and it works perfect, BUT if the query give me a NULL, it never give me a result.
I don´t have any warning or error.

when launching WD apps in the Portal you have to define a WD iView in the Portal. This can be started using the NavigationTarget parameter.
Parameters (ie. Business Parameters) that should be passed to the WebDynpro application can be defined in the iView itself - the iView attribute is called "Application Parameters". Here you can also define variable expressions like "emailaddr=<User.email>" so that the value of the email address is evaluated on runtime.
This way you don't have to care about URL encodings at all

How can I create a query with web service data control?
I need to create a query with web service data control, in WSDL, it's query operation, there is a parameter message with the possible query criteria and a return message contains the results. I googled, but cannot find anything on the query with web service. I cannot find a "Named Criteria" in web service data control like normal data control. IS validation rule export to Data Services invalidates datastore logon details
I am exporting an Information Steward 4.2 SP1 validation rule to Data Services 4.2 SP1; a part of the rule is a database table lookup. In the export process, IS creates a new datastore with that table I'm doing the lookup against.
The problem is that every time I re-export the rule after changing it, I have to maintain db server logon details in that generated datastore again.
Have I missed a configuration step, or it's just an error to raise through OSS?Hi Apurva ,

Let's make all the columns selected not nullable. You can do this with the Oracle Dev Tools. Specifically, PHONE_NUMBER and FIRST_NAME are the only nullable fields. I make them non-nullable and re-run the query and the same error occurs. Thus, these values should never be made null. Moreover, in all 107 rows, none of these row values consist of empty strings anyway.
Looking into the problem further, WCF DS is calling methods in the System.Data.Services.Internal namespace.

Specifically, we see your issue when the ProjectedWrapperMany method is called. You will notice that there is ProjectedWrapper0, ProjectedWrapper1...ProjectedWrapper8 methods also present in the same namespace. As soon as the number of columns exceeds 8, ProjectedWrapperMany is called and we see the error. We're going to ask MS to help analyze the issue since this is an .NET-internal method being called. -

Our company cannot justify having a full time data services functional developer to support our existing master data address cleanse / address validation process in data services. There is light work for customizing data services jobs and occasional support work for address validation issues. We have a full staff of SAP developers in most areas and are looking to train an existing employee to do two roles. Not being well versed in what is involved with data services support, can you help with what skill set would be a good complement to also learn data services? Would it be a BW functional developer? ABAP developer? Basis? Master Data functional developer?
