If I've understood you, you can't start into Mac OS X. Press X key after the startup sound, so your computer will start in OS X

I installed Mountain Lion in my IMac and now, some times, when I start up my mac it looks with a black screen and white text. I'm really worry about it, can somebody help me?

Don't worry, this is probably just Verbose Mode. It's perfectly harmless.  If you're not specifically invoking it, than it's probably down to an unwanted setting in NVRAM.  See this article on resetting NVRAM if it continues to bother you.

Be sure to start your iMac using its original grey System Install DVD: Insert that disc and start your Mac while holding the d key. At the Mac OS X Utilities screen select Disk Utility and format the hard disk. Select "Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)".
    Then, install OS X.

    Can you help me?

hi . I had the simalar  problems of my HP b209a-m printer not being seen on my wireless network> I could not add the printer and could not get the printer to join my network,  I found this post at HP discussion and it worked!
Each printer has different options/settings but it seems like the general idea should work ok if you can reset printer back to factory settings and find Printer IP Adress.
    This is for HP printers
    1. On the printer navigate to the Wireless or Network menu.
    2. Select Restore Defaults.
    3. On your computer look for a wireless network named 'hpsetup' and connect to it.
    4. Print a Wireless Network Test from the front of the printer to see its IP address. (on my b209a-m Printer the IP info was found by pressing the Wireless Icon)
    5. Type the IP address into the address bar of a web browser to see the printer's internal settings.
    6. Click on the Network tab and look for the Wireless Setup Wizard and run it.
    7. The Passphrase is the password you use on your wireless connection.
    8. Now change the network name on your computer back to your wireless network.
The printer will now be connected to your network.  With your the computer backyour wireless network network, you can re-add the printer from System Preferences.
Hope this works--- it did for me.

  • HT202159 I downloaded Dragon Express and now it won't open.  It says it is INSTALLED but it won't open when clicked.  Tried to trash it and start over but won't let me trash because it says it is open.  But it isn't!  Called mac help and they can't help e

I downloaded Dragon Express and think that it did not completely complete the download.  However, it says that it has been installed and my account has been charged 50.00.  However, when I click on the icon, it will not open.  I have tried everything from restarting, trashing the app, but it continues to tell me that I cna't trash the app because it is open.  I called apple support and they worked with me for about 30 minutes until they finally told me that the call had to end regardless of the fact that after all of their efforts, the problem was not resolved.  He gave me a link to get a refund and said it was easy to navigate however, it led me nowhere.  So now I am stuck with a worthless app, that does not work and a 50.00 bill to pay because I can't get support or link support to get a refund and even if I could get a refund I still have the Dragon express on my computer that does not work!!!  HELP!  I don't know how the app can be open when even support could not figure it out!  When I restart, the finder window opens where it never did before.

Well first of all this is a public forum, so keep that in mind. The users here generally can not look up your case numbers.
If AppleCare didn't work out for you, I believe your next step is
    iTunes Store Support
    http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
Unfortunately, their case indexing is on a different database, and they will not be able to look up your case number either. However, their support is free, and despite it may take a few bounces of emails back and forth, there is a decent chance they may be able to get a solution.
Or... you can still try to shoot the **** with us here, which is Ok as well. But you'll have to keep in mind we can't look up your case numbers.
By the way, the link for a refund, I think is for the same link I just gave you, so on second though, mabye it's best to just go there.

I've installed windows 7 with the help of bootcamp on my macbook pro 2011.
Please help me how to install mac drivers for windows7 64 bit???

You either download drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant and save to USB FAT disk, or you insert and use 10.6.x OS X DVD when in Windows and install and run the SETUP from there.

Step 4: Install the Boot Camp Drivers for Windows
After installing Windows, install Mac-specific drivers and other software for Windows using your Mac OS X installation disc.  The Mac OS X disc installs drivers to support Mac components, including AirPort,built-in iSight camera, the Apple Remote, the trackpad on a portable Mac, and thefunction keys on an Apple keyboard.
The Mac OS X disc also installs the Boot Camp control panel for Windows and theApple Boot Camp system tray item.
To install the Boot Camp drivers:
1 Eject the Windows installation disc.
2 Insert the Mac OS X disc.  If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
    3 Follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
Windows that appear only briefly during the installation don’t require your input.
If nothing appears to be happening, there may be a hidden window that you mustrespond to. Check the taskbar and look behind open windows.
Important: Do not click the Cancel button in any of the installer dialogs.
4 After your computer restarts, follow the instructions in the Found New Hardware  Wizard to update your software drivers (Windows XP only).
5 Follow the instructions for any other wizards that appear.
6 Check for updated Boot Camp drivers by using Apple Software Update or going to www.apple.com/support/bootcamp.
If You Have Problems Installing the Device Drivers
If it appears that the Boot Camp drivers weren’t successfully installed, try repairing them.
    To repair Boot Camp drivers:
1 Start up your computer in Windows.
2 Insert your Mac OS X installation disc.
3 If the installer doesn’t start automatically, browse the disc using Windows Explorerand double-click the setup.exe file in the Boot Camp directory.
4 Click Repair and follow the onscreen instructions.
If a message appears that says the software you’re installing has not passed Windows  Logo testing, click Continue Anyway.
If you need to reinstall specific drivers, you can install one driver at a time. For example,if your built-in iSight camera isn’t working, you can reinstall just the iSight driver.
Individual drivers are in the Drivers folder on the Mac OS X installation disc.

  • Help with at start up folder that  flashes between ? and Mac OS Icon.

So I have an eMac that had Mac OS X 10.3.5 on it. About a week ago a software update came over on my Mac for 10.3.9. I tryed to download it and upgrade my OS. Somewhere along the line something crashed and I tryed to revert back to my 10.3.5 after that I turned off my Mac and turned it on again and I got the darwin screen. Now I dont have the original OS disk that came with this Mac, I got it off a friend of the family. I did have a Power Mac G5 OS X 10.4 CD that I was able to get into the CD by holding down C when started up. the Disk First Aid said everything was fine, and I tryed to install that and it told me that I could not install this software on my Mac. So someone I work with told me to erase the drive in the First Aid menu and the computer will reboot the OS. So I Erased the hard drive and went into the menu that lets you choose the start up OS and that did not load. Now when I turned on my eMac it just goes to a screen with a folder that blinks back and forth between a question mark and a Mac OS Icon.
Another person I work with has a Mac OS X 10.3 CD and said that should get everything up and running again , but he has not found it yet. Last night I tryed my parents iMac OS 10.2 CD and that CD will not load when I hold down C when I start the Mac.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks

They have a version of the Mac OS that will "only" run on that particular computer.
More accurately, this should read "...that will "only" run on that particular computer model." Those disks are always gray in color.
Generally, a Mac will not accept/run an OS version lower than the one it shipped with.
The Hobo is exactly on target when he asked for the specific model. There are two distinct generations of eMacs and that can affect recommendations. We can better help you if we know which one.
I'm a little confused about the disks. Did any of the disks you're tried or will be borrowing come from an eMac? Did your eMac come with 10.3 pre-installed or did you upgrade from an older version of OSX?
It's a little late in your case, but I have a way of dealing with Software Updates (SU) that's never (knock wood) killed any of our 13 Macs: When a system update is first offered, I don't let SU install it then. I finish what I was doing, closing all active applications, then use Disk Utility on my hard drive to Repair Permissions (RP) BEFORE I allow SU to install anything. Then I run it again AFTER SU finished. Permission repair is controversial but harmless, but I'm doing something right that has kept me from having update problems, so I keep doing RP before installing any updates that SU pushes out.

  • Crashes at start up, online help pages didn't help. War Craft 3 with Mac

First of all the computer I am using is a MacBook, i got it in November of 2007 at the time it was the most up to date mac book, it runs Mac OS X leopard and has 4 GB of RAM.
I have tried installing War Craft 3 Reign of Chaos and War Craft 3 The Frozen Throne on it many a time but to no avail.
So I tried the support section on blizzard's website, it said that I may need to download the latest DivX code, so I did that.
So I went and installed War Craft 3 Reign of Chaos in the applications section in the finder, after installing I double clicked the War Craft 3 Reign of Chaos icon and it worked.
So then I ejected the War Craft 3 Reign of Chaos disk and inserted the War Craft 3: The Frozen Throne disk. I clicked on the Frozen Throne Disk icon on my macs desktop and started up the The Frozen Throne installer, I noticed that instead of the installer saying Install The Frozen Throne (complete installation) like it did before I updated my DivX code it now said Install The Frozen Throne (upgrade from War Craft 3 Reign of Chaos) so I went and clicked the install button and I then noticed that instead of making me eject the Frozen Throne disk and insert the Reign Of Chaos CD and give the CD key of Reign of Chaos and the Frozen Throne AND my name like it did before updating my DivX code it only made me give the Frozen Throne CD key.
After that it installed and I double clicked the Frozen Throne icon but unfortunately the same thing happened- the frozen throne icon appeared on my dock bounced up and down and then was replaced by the Reign of Chaos Icon and then flicked between the two a few times then I got this-"The application War Craft 3 quit unexpectedly"
Please respond ASAP I beg of you

If you have a external USB enclosure - trying installing your hard drive in that enclosure and connect it to your usb port - restart your macbook while holding down the options key.  If you Macbook boots to your desktop then you have a faulty cable.  If you get the same error, then your hard drive just died on you.
    good luck.

  • I just bought my iMac G3 and I was excited and ready to install Mac OS X 10.3, unfortunatley my Mac is having problems selecting it as a start up disc. I really want this to work. Can anyone help me? Mine is a tray loader.

I went to school this morning and picked up the Mac OS X 10.3 software from my advisor, I was super excited to get out of my boring Mac OS 8.6. My Mac is a tray loader. When I put the disc in the tray, it has no problem reading it, but when I go to the file to install and I press the restart button, my Start Up disc couldn't make Mac OS X 10.3 my start up disc. And when I tried using the Start Up disc on the file, it would restart, but when my screen turns back on, it flashes a question mark with a folder behind it and a Macintosh symbol and eventually begins running OS 8.6 again. Please help me!

    There are several things...
There is a firmware update that is needed for Mac OS X.  Fortunately, you can still boot into the "classic" Mac OS, because you need to be able to do so to install the firmware update, if it has not been already.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1263
The Mac OS X installation disc needs to be a retail disc, meaning a disc that was sold separately in a box for use with any supported Mac.  For Panther (10.3), I recall that it was black with a big metallic X, and it comes on three CDROMs.  If it's a gray disc that came with another Mac model, it probably will not work.
RAM - Your iMac needs to have a minimum of 128mb of RAM for Panther.  At least 256mb (or more) would be highly recommended.  512mb is the max.
Hard drive - The largest stock hard drive in tray-loader iMac G3 was 6GB, which is not very large for Mac OS X.  The installation of Panther will take up about half that space.  This does not prevent booting the installation disc.  It's just a consideration for doing the installation itself.
For a tray-loader iMac, you may want to go with Mac OS 9 instead (up to version 9.2.2).  Panther is a good version of Mac OS X, but there is not that much software that works with it.  On the other hand, Mac OS 9.x was the latest and greatest version of the Mac's OS for a LONG time, so there is a large library of old but useful programs.  Some are still being maintained today, such as
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/classilla/
Mac OS X on a tray-loader iMac G3 will feel quite sluggish.  Mac OS 9 will feel snappy, and require much less RAM and hard drive space.

  • Help with installing CS3 on new Mac

Recently purchased new Macs for the department. Cannot install CS3! It asks for the CS2 license number which we have. Turns out it doesn't recognize it. Called customer support and everyone had the same answer, but no solution. I purchased the CS2 corporate license when we had about 6 Macs. Now, we're down to 3 so I purchased the CS3 as individual suites. They said there is no workaround with getting CS3 to recognize the CS2 license! We called 4 different times and talked to 4 different reps who gave us all the same broken-record response. Any help with be greatly appreciated!

I believe that is essential what the customer service folks were telling my designer. However, both was installed before on the old Macs (CS2 corporate licensed and CS3 individual license) - that's the odd thing, is that it worked before on an older system. All we did was buy new hardware.
I hope this isn't Adobe's way of making us upgrade to CS4 - lol!

  • Can't start up with mac OS x---please help

i ran ONYX and i was advised to repair my hard drive.
so i inserted my mac os X disc while holding down the C key as the computer starts up.
it won't go to utilities, it goes straight to where u choose which account and password to login.
i repeated the whole procedure for four times, still it can't open disk utilities/repair disc.
i installed a firmware password before on my hard drive but it didn't asked for a password or something while i was starting up.
    please help. thanks.

The Macbook will not allow you to startup with your Install DVD while you have Open Firmware password enabled. Disable that first, then try again....
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106482
Launch the Open Firmware application to disable it.
