Need help adjusting code which allows button activation

Hi,
the basis of my problem is this. I have inherited some code
which is a matrix of buttons which give a score of 1-7 depending on
which button is pressed. The matrix consist of 6 rows and 7 buttons
and once all rows have a button pressed the final score is
calculated and a submit button becomes activated (it is de-active
until all rows have a score). This works fine, but I have added a
function in which you can press a button which de-activates one row
and activated another, so there are now 8 rows instead of 7, even
though I want the total score to still calculate when there are 7
scores to tally up the total. The code I have now works with the
first 7 scores, but when you add the 8th row it won't tally up the
score, and activate the submit button. I am attaching the code I
currently have to do this. I think part of te problem, is that I
don't actually understand every bit of the code. I know what it
does, but not exactly how it is doing it :-).
Anyway attached is the current code I have:

any ideas on this? I also tried adding a zero button to the
de-activated rows, but this does not work either as a score of 1+
is needed to activate the function.

  • I need help to decide which macbook pro is best for photo editing, editing movies and doing all the rest too like excel, word etc. 13"

I need help to decide which macbook pro is best for photo editing, editing movies and doing all the rest too like  microsoft office products ...excel, word etc.  I am new to the apple world and have liked the idea of the MAC Book Pro 13" but really dont know if this is good enough or if the computer will soon crash?
    13-inch: 2.6GHz
    with Retina display
    Specifications
    2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    512GB PCIe-based flash storage1
    Intel Iris Graphics
    Built-in battery (9 hours)2

That's a fine machine and, with 8GB of RAM and 512GB flash storage should serve you well for light video/photo editing as well as for 'normal' usage. And it should last you for years to come.
Good luck in making your decision!!

Check out the FileReference class... "The FileReference class

At this moment, you know as much as I do about it, so I don't
know if it's really what you need. But if it is, and you figure out
the code, it'd be great if you put the coded solution here for the

  • I need help on deciding which camcorder is right for me....

I'm going into college early September and my professor wants me to practice making films.
I'm getting a MacBook Pro tomorrow along with Final Cut Express, now all I need is the right camcorder.
Unfortunately, $200 is my budget, and I need a camcorder (mini or not) that has great 1) video quality (HD) 2) low-light quality and 3) good zoom.
When I'm shooting, I also need to have good audio quality and be able to hear when I review what was shot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my tuppence-worth after three years of amateur videoing and several hours of edited video (not artistic stuff, just records of things happening).
    1. Three years ago I was advised to get a mini-tape machine because FCE does not work well with non-tape machines. This was confirmed in this discussion group recently.
    2. Three years ago I was advised not to get a Canon machine - not because they are not good but because FCE has difficulty working with them. Sonys were thought to work well. Others might confirm or update this.
    3. Unless you like the awful current fad of continuously zooming in and out, in and out of focus and jiggling the camera purposely, use a tripod whenever you can, and failing that a monopod which is easy to carry attached to the camera and takes three seconds to position (assuming the legs are expanded). It greatly steadies the shot (but press it into the ground if outside to make sure that it does not jerk).
    4. On light level sensitivity which you mention, my Sony DCR HC96 which cost much more than you want to pay (but all the cheaper versions in that range have the same level) the Minimum Illumination is 5 Lux (Lux is a measure of light intensity falling on a subject so obviously 0 Lux is total darkness). This allows me to shoot in remarkably low light levels conditions, so the 5 Lux figure will give you something to consider when looking at specifications.
    5. My camera (but not the cheaper versions) has "Night Shot" which allows shooting in total darkness up to about 6 metres away using the infrared light on the camera.
    6. It also has Sony's "SteadyShot" which compensates for rapid shake (but not hosepipe shots of course). This was tested when shooting on a tripod on a hill in very windy conditions when I had to brace myself. The camera was vibrating noticeably but there was no sign of that on the footage. (I don't know whether the anti-camera shake system was optical or electronic). The manual indicates that the cheaper versions in the range also have this.
    7. Most beginners start by hosepiping (moving the camera all over the place to get everything in). My advice is to get that out of your system very quickly, and pan (s l o w l y) instead.
    8. As often advised in this forum, start shooting a few seconds before and keep shooting a few seconds after the shot that you want. This is to allow for transitions at both ends (the dreaded "Handles" thing). Also, at events etc. which you cannot re-shoot, aim to shoot at least 5 to 10 times the footage that will survive the average editing process. Therefore, carry spare tapes (if you go for that type) and a spare charged battery.
    9. I find that the cheaper the camera the greater the optical zoom. This might be due to the greater ease of designing a cheaper lens where compromises can be made. Beware Digital zoom — it doesn't add any extra info., just pixellates.
    10. I find that Scaling up a video clip in FCE by more than a few percent degrades the image (probably because video cameras are designed to make footage that will be shown via a DVD or TV when the footage has to be greatly compressed, so a lot of pixels is not economic, but I am only guessing here). Do a (optical) zoom during the shoot or use a still taken with a still camera which will have more pixels than a video camera. You can always Scale in FCE and then pan using Motion.
    11. You want to hear what you have just shot. I think that most cameras will allow this (in Play mode).
    Hope this helps.

You must be using an old Google version, mine found lots of stuff:
    1. Merge files using JFileChooser in netbeans 5.0\\
Depends on what you're merging, but here's Sun's basic IO tutorial: http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/essential/io/

  • Need help on deciding which Mac I should buy

Alright, so I have a very important decision I need to make and I really need help making it.
    My two choices:
Choice 1: My first choice is that I have $1378 dollars to buy a MacBook. My choice is the MacBook air 13" with 128 GB hard drive, 8 GB Memory, and 1.7 GHz processor.
Choice 2: My Dad does not want his MacBook Air 11" base model from 2012. He is willing to give it to me. In return, I will give him the $1378 and he will buy himself a $400 laptop from that. Then he will buy me a 500 GB Thunderbolt hard drive and a thunderbolt to hdmi adaptor for the MacBook Air. The remaining money will then go to me.
Either choice I take, I need a computer fast enought to do serious video editing with Final Cut Pro and Multi-tasking. Also, it needs to last 3 years. Which choice should I take. I have one week to decide. Either way, my dad will pay for my Mac OS X Mavericks Update.

The processors in the new MacBook Airs are not that much more powerful than the 2012 models, the real difference is in the battery life. When you say your dad has the base model, I'm assuming that is the 4 GB RAM/64 GB SSD version. You would be cutting it close on storage space, but the external Thunderbolt drive would make up for that. 4 GB RAM is also cutting it close, especially for video editing, but I hear the flash storage on the MacBook Airs helps compensate for that.
If it were me, I would go with option 2, considering you should have a pretty good chunk of change left over once your dad buys his laptop and your Thunderbolt accessories.

  • MacBook Pro smell and need help deciding on which MacBook Pro to buy

So I bought a 17-inch MacBook Pro from my brother in August of 2009. He bought it in March of 2008. A couple days ago I noticed that my MacBook Pro has been releasing a really bad smell almost as if burning plastic. But the smell isn't that bad. What could be wrong with my MacBook Pro? I'm getting a New 15 or 13-inch MacBook Pro in June so idk if I should just not worry about it? And I need help deciding if I should get a high end 13-inch MacBook Pro or a low end 15-inch MacBook Pro?

What could be wrong with my MacBook Pro?
Take your computer to an Apple Store. The staff will be able to check as to the cause of the smell.

  • Need help with adding Facebook share button

I need to add a simple Facebook share button in the row of social share buttons at the bottom of the page http://www.ottawapatentagency.com  I just need a simple button, I don't need any counts, nor any analytics. I tried to insert the code from the Facebook developers pages and follow the instructions, but I can't do it.
I am neither a Facebook developer nor a programmer, for that matter, help!

Have you created your Facebook share button code from the Facebook resource page below:
    Share Button
Once you have done that copy the code and paste it in your pages code, directly after the opening <body> tag.
Then add the <div> in which your Facebook share button will appear directly before your Google plus <div> (see below)
    <div class="fb-share-button" data-href="https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/" data-width="200" data-type="button_count"></div>

  • Need help Please. Which play nice with macs? Palm Treo's Or Tmobile MDA?

Hi all, I post on here from time to time, but hardly anyone ever answers my questions. Here's my dilema. I bought a Tmobile MDA over the weekend that runs microsoft windows mobile 5.0. And while playing with it have noticed some things about it that i think are'nt that good. For example, I like the fact that its a windows os, but think that it's flawed. I have done quite a bit of research but don't think that it's active sync software is even compatible with mac osx. so have'nt even tried to mess with it. now i'm still in the 14 day window and am thinking about returning it. but here's the thing....
I know that tmobile has EDGE, and it's considerably slower than verizon or sprints EVDO. (since i've researched it i know that edge is around the 70-170KBPS range when EVDO has 300-700KBPS) And tonight i was messing with this tmobile MDA and finally got it to work to connect to the net with it using bluetooth and it's "modem" ability to connect it to the web. But it S U C K S! i went to and did a bandwith test and i was only getting like 12.1-27.1kbps download (after running 2 tests) dude, it feels slower than dialup!
so with that bullet against it, comes the compatible part. I can't sycn this thing with my mac for NOTHING! do any of you out there have a palm treo? (either verizon, sprint, or att.... carrier X?) How does it sync with your mac? is it hard? any extra software i need to get/buy? have any of you used it to connect to the net? and if so, how's the speed? And here's an even bettter question... How long did it take to config it to work using the phone as a modem? Did you use bluetooth? or serial link? was it easy to config? Where did you find the instructions?
I know these are a lot of questions, but this is a large investment for me. I mean this thing ain't cheap and it does'nt really play nice. I don't mind paying a little extra, for some peace of mind, and knowing that it won't crash often and will work with my mac. Anyone out there got any other suggestions? I would really appreciate it. I would like your opinion on which one is the easiest to use that plays nice with a mac, and has a interface that's almost as nice. Thank you so much for your time. I will be following this post closely and comment you all back for your replys
Mac Book Pro 1.83 GHZ 512 Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It really is a toss up cause Ive owned two Treo's and Ive read extensive reviews on Windows mobile devices and it seems to me like they're pretty similar in the way of hardware and software(minus the fact of using different operating systems). So I think the determining factor really ought to be more focused on how much you're willing to pay, and the level of support you get for each device. I recently got rid of my Treo 650 due to an interesting touchscreen problem and got a windows mobile device(should come tomorrow)
in the way of syncing with a mac:
The Treo is extremely simple to set up and use with a Mac(keep in mind Im not talking about the 700w/wx)in every aspect. Palm provides OSx compatible software(though its almost impossible to get rid of after installation). However, in my experience, Palm does not really do a good job in the customer service department. While they have a rather extensive support page for each device(some of the info is outdated), that's pretty much all you get unless you don't mind spending hrs scouring various forums. Talking to customer service is a joke. Like I said I had a problem with the touchscreen and the best the rep could give me was "try a hard reset" and "send it in for repair".
I have yet to experience what windows mobile will be like. At the very least with syncing, theres syncing software made by people who had OSx in mind(ie: Missing Sync or Pocketmac) who will probably be able to help out a lot more in this area and possible also be able to help out with the other issues you mentioned.
a good place to check out would be howardforums.com, you'll probably get better answers there.
