Need help getting personal web sharing working again

I've somehow managed to hose my apache web server and am hoping someone can offer some advice to get it running correctly again:
my problem: I can no longer access my website files running on my mini server computer, and even when I run a simple local connection (127.0.0.1) from the mini, I get 403 Forbidden errors.
Background: I set up a web page on a mac mini that I had set up as a mini server many years ago. When I decided to resurrect the mini and use it for this purpose again, I noted that my website contents were not sitting in my user/sites folder, but instead, were in a folder called WebServer, sitting inside the Library folder of my hard drive. Unfortunately, I lost all of my notes as to how (or why) I configured my server this way.
I decided that I wanted to set up multiple local hosts to try to run two different web pages and followed the directions here: http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-host-multiple-websites-mac-mini-server-260994/
After messing around with this a bit I started to get the 403 errors and decided to remove all the additional code mentioned in the link above in the apache config file and go back to my original set up, but this is not working.
Is there a easy way to remove apache and install a default version like that which comes with OSX to start over with a clean config file, or can someone tell me where in the config file to search to see what else is going wrong?

Need help getting my EVDO to work again - lost without it!!

My BB no longer picks up the EVDO or 1X signal. All I have now is 1x. This started to happen when I returned to Canada from a vacation in Jamaica. For this reason I have a feeling that the problem may be software related and not a hardware problem. open the menu then do "register now".
exit, wait for the arrows to finish blinking.
then do a reboot : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
Soft reboot :
1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
- Alt
- Left Shift
- Delete
2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
Hard reboot :
1) your Blackberry device is on
2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
3) Put the battery back
4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.

Need help getting my phoen to work again. It wont get out of reboot mode just stays on its reboot red eye screen.

My MotorolaDroid Razr M was acting weird it wouldnt open apps. They would shut down automatically so I tried to reboot the phone and it stays in the red eye reboot mode and never goes to a usable mode. Help!

Personal Web Sharing Works on One Mac, Not on Other

I can't get Personal Web Sharing to work with my MacBook Pro. It does work with my iMac. Yes, I can turn it on just fine on the MacBook, by means of System Preferences->Sharing, but I can't successfully use the Personal Web http:// link I see there as a URL in my iMac's browser. When I try, it tells me it can't connect to the host, i.e., the MacBook. When I do the same in reverse, from my MacBook browser with my iMac as target (though the local IP address and the short-user-name are of course different), the connection works fine.
I don't think I'm using an incorrect local IP address to try to get to my MacBook. I've checked that. And I do have an index.html file in the appropriate Sites folder on each machine.
I'm using Mac OS Leopard 10.5.8 on both machines.
The problem also shows up on Safari on my iPhone. It can access Personal Web Sharing on the iMac but it can't on the MacBook.
I wonder if it's a Bonjour problem? I don't exactly know if Bonjour is running on the MacBook, or how to tell if it is, or how to activate it if it isn't running.
Or, if it's not Bonjour, what could it be?

'sudo apachectl start' asked for my password and seemed to have no complaints after getting it. But it didn't tell me anything, and it didn't make a difference.
After checking out some FAQs at

I tried 'apachectl -k start' and got:

no listening sockets available, shutting down

It made no difference whether Personal Web Sharing was on or off in System Preferences when I did that.
I do know that the Apache log file is apparently not there where apachectl expects it. I don't understand the other stuff it said, but it looks like maybe it was trying to use an IP address of 0.0.0.0 instead of 10.0.1.16.
10.0.1.16 is the local IP address of my MacBook.
I tried 'apachectl configtest' and got 'Syntax OK'.
I tried moving index.html to /Library/WebServer/Documents -- no help.
I tried creating a new configuration file in the way you said to try -- no help.
No matter what I try, I get:
Unable to connect
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 10.0.1.16.
I'm beginning to wonder if the Apache environment might not need to be reinstalled. But I'm not sure how. I'm running Leopard 10.5.8, but the original install disk I have is 10.5.1. Software Update moved me up from that to 10.5.8 over time. Your further thoughts and advice will be greatly appreciated ...

[SOLVED] Need some help getting the sound to work again

Recently I changed the motherboard and CPU to an AM3 platform, everything works with my previous setup except sound.
Reinstalling alsa-utils and rebooting had absolutely no effect. Google didn't help either.

Great. It took the bulk of my day trying to figure out how to get this thing to work.
VolWheel is now set to adjust "Master Front" (it was previously set to "Master" with the old motherboard) and the Sonata volume bar apparently works too, just like I wanted (adjusting the PCM volume by default). Good. Great ! Now I just need to set the "snd-hda-intel" module to load at boot so I don't have to type "sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel" all the time and this thread can be considered SOLVED.
sudo nano /etc/rc.conf
...and add the following:
MODULES="... snd-hda-intel ..."
(also removed snd-ac97-codec from the list because that's what the old mobo used)

PS: Just out of curiosity, why is it called "snd-hda-intel" ? Why intel ? The CPU is AMD, the chipset is Nvidia nForce, sound is VIA...

Personas has stopped working after Windows updates. Halp! How do I get personas to start working again?

Personas was working just fine. A few days ago there was a Windows update (somewhere along the lines of 20 updates). Both our Vista laptop AND our 7 Desktop were updated and now personas doesn't work on either computer . . . with the exception of one user account on the desktop. <--- which is weird, huh?
We are perplexed. When we mouse over a persona, the font color changes but the picture doesn't. When we wear a new persona again, ''only'' the font color changes but the picture doesn't. It seems to be 'stuck' on whatever our current persona is on the computer. I also tried uninstalling personas and rebooting and . . . the persona picture was still on the computer. More weirdness. I re-downloaded personas after this but the problem persists.
I've searched and searched and can't find anything on this. My best guess is that it has something to do with one of the Windows updates as several of them were security updates ... but this is only a guess on my part.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know what other information I can provide to try and resolve this problem.
Oh, both machines are running the current versions of Java and Adobe flash. We are running on Firefox 3.6.17 on both laptop and desktop.

Anyone else experiencing this problem? Anyone have any ideas/suggestions on what to look for to try and resolve this? Thx.

K. I don't pay much attention in my AP Comp Science Class.. but my teacher said if i can get this program to work i get an a for the semester... The program is Metrowerks Codewarrior IDE.. we are running it on windows 98 i think. She said she can't get it to compile.. so i guess it just needs to be able to input simple java programs (i.e. loops, just the regular crap) and compile them and run them...i have no clue what is wrong with it.. it could just need a patch...or we may just be going about it the wrong way...any help would be SUPER appreciated...

Need help getting this code to work

I am trying to get this code to work using "if else statment" but it will only do the first part and not do the second part in the else statement. Can anyone help me out? Here is the code:

I did notice that if I fiddled around this this part:

sometimes I can get the second part to work but not the first. I need it to do either or and this is getting frustrating.
I might also not even need "var R0 = 0". I put that there for the condition part. If that is what is causing the problem, I can take it out. But then what would the condition be? For this form, the default is 0 and then the calculation follows by user clicking on different prices. The first part is if they want to pay for the full conference and the second part is if they want to pay for either Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday or 2 of the 3 days. Is it possible to get this to work with both parts together? I am still stuck on getting just one or the other working. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Need help getting LCD monitor to work with G4 GeForce4 MX

I have a G4 that I haven't been using and want to get running again. It has a Nvidia GeForce4 MX video card. I had a huge CRT monitor and want to use a ViewSonic VX1935wm which I got a deal on. When I hook the monitor up it says that the resolution is out of range.
I can boot with my old monitor and change the connection and then get the LCD to work but only at certain resolutions.
Do I need to get a new video card, or can I get an adaptor? What kind of card should I get if it needs to be replaced? Or what other kind of monitor would be supported by this video card?

switchResX does something, but it doesn't solve the problem. i can now switch to the "optimum" resolution of 1440x900, 60hz. but when i restart the computer, it still won't work! i continue to get the "out of range" message and have to boot with my crt and then switch cables to do anything. also, the fonts in the finder menus look terrible, you can see the jagged lines.
displayConfigX won't let me test that high of a resolution without registering the product.. needless to say, i don't want to pay money if the results are going to be the same as with SwitchResX.
I sent an e-mail to ViewSonic support. Is it typical to have these problems? I am getting more and more confused as I learn more about this.

I need help getting Mini Bridge to work in PS CS6

I have already tried deleting the folder and rebooting the computer, I have tried creating a new user account, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire package and I cannot get Mini Bridge to work at all. It just keeps going to "Mini Bridge waiting for Bridge CS6..." and then never finds anything. I am having this issue on both my Macbook Pro Retina 15 and my MacBook Pro 13 (Early 2011 model). I cannot seem to find any other solutions to this problem online. I also made sure that both Macbooks are fully updated as well as all CS6 software titles. Please help me fix this!
I also made sure I added it to the exceptions list in the firewall too.

Need help getting guest access to work.

I have searched and Googled and found very little about enabling temporary guest access on an AEBS.
What I could find said just type in "the PIN number." OK, what PIN number? It appears that the device seeking access is supposed to supply it somehow and then I type it in while using the Airport Utility. I see no such number on the device. I also tried the "first one to try" method and got nowhere.
In both cases I was using an iPhone that wanted to use my network. Does this work with iPhones?

Neither the PIN nor the first attempt option allowed him on the network without giving him our password.
It's still not clear if or when this will work. At the very least, the documentation is terrible.

Need help getting Apple Extreme to work with Be box

Anyone able to give an idiots guide to getting Apple Extreme to work with Be Box wireless modem?
Used to have Orange (Wanadoo) broadband with Livebox wireless router, which i had my AE wired up to and it worked fine. Signed up with Be* and managed to get their wireless router working and communicating with my Mac OK. When i hooked up AE the green light came on but i can't manage to get my Mac to find it.
Any help would be very appreciated.

o Connect it wirelessly to the Be Box's wireless network?
If it is to go the wireless route, do you want the AEBSn to extend the wireless range of the Be Box?

Need help getting my applets to work on web pages!

I've been trying to get it to work for a while now, and I no idea why it won't work! I've tried all kinds of things to get it to work, but it still won't work. All I want to do is make a simple applet, don't care what it does, and put it on a web page.

It works fine when I run the applet in eclipse, and I've tried many different applets. I tried using a cool program I wanted to put online first, then I made a simple program to try, and then I even downloaded the file from a tutorial and didn't edit it at all... nothing works!
