    It's not possible to read from a file without using classes from the core API*. You'll have to get clarification from your instructor as to which classes are and are not allowed.

    Any ideas to get around this would really help out.

    Connection used Views, ODBC System DSN is setup properly.
    Approach for import from business view manager and import wizard.  both methods failed to import the Business View and underlying reports.
    I figure I may have imported the Business View wrong? From Business View Manager I exported from my dev server then imported to prod server.
    Apparently I learned exporting my business view also includes the Data Connections that the Business Views are dependent upon.
    So which ever folder you specify it copies it there. Originally the all Data Connections Resides on the root folder. To return it to the original location. I deleted what I had exported. Exported this time to the root folder, then only deleted the business views, foundation, elements. Then exported again to the folder where I intended then only deleted the Data Connection.
    Makes any sense? So I then had to re point the business views and all the dependent objects to the data connection that resides in the root folder.
    I tested the connection, it works fine. I properly updated my crystal reports to the business view in production. Did a sample extract it works as expected.
    However when i try to publish, either from Crystal or Publish wizard i get the same error?
    As a work around i am thinking, after updating the business view in the crystal reports, shall i re map the fields?? or reexport the business views again?
    Any help will be surely appreciated.

  • Problem with reading data from screen and inserting in table

    hi ther,
    im new to abap-webdyn pro. can anyone suggest how to read data from screen and insert into table when press 'ADD' button.
    i done screen gui , table creation but problems with action. what the content of acton add.
    is ther any link that helps me or tut??
    thankx in advance!

    Hi,
    Create a context node for the screen fields for which you want to enter the values with cardinality 1.1.....
    Now in the layout of your view bind the screen input fields to that context node(attributes) to the value property of the input fields...
    Now in the action of ADD button....
    --> go the wizard and select the read node button and select the node which you have created it generates the auto code for you.....
    for example if the node is contains aone attribute like MATNR
    reading the node from wizard will generate the code as....
    DATA lo_nd_matnr TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node.
      DATA lo_el_matnr TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element.
      DATA ls_matnr TYPE wd_this->element_matnr.
      DATA lv_matnr TYPE wd_this->element_matnr-matnr.
    * navigate from <CONTEXT> to <MATNR> via lead selection
      lo_nd_matnr = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_matnr ).
    * @TODO handle non existant child
    * IF lo_nd_matnr IS INITIAL.
    * ENDIF.
    * get element via lead selection
      lo_el_matnr = lo_nd_matnr->get_element( ).
    * @TODO handle not set lead selection
      IF lo_el_matnr IS INITIAL.
      ENDIF.
    * get single attribute
      lo_el_matnr->get_attribute(
        EXPORTING
          name =  `MATNR`
        IMPORTING
          value = lv_matnr ).
    here the variable lv_matnr will contain the entered value......
    now you can use this value for further process.
    Thanks,
    Shailaja Ainala.

       this is how i would create a jsp page.
       to output the results in an html table
       you can get the column names from the resultset

    <body>
    <table>

  • Help needed in reading data from a Crystal Report

    I am trying to read data values from a saved crystal report. (groovy code snippet below)
    I open a new ReportClientDocument and set the RAS using the inprocConnectionString property.
    Then I get the rowsetController and set defaultNumOfBrowsingRecords, rowsetBatchSize and maxNumOfRecords all to 1000000
    Using the browseFieldValues method after that returns only 100 records. I want to get all.
               ReportClientDocument clientDocSaved;
           def pathout=rc.pathToSavedReports+rr.path;
         //****** BEGIN OPEN SAVED SNAPSHOT ************
         clientDocSaved = new ReportClientDocument();
         clientDocSaved.setReportAppServer(ReportClientDocument.inprocConnectionString);
            // Open report
         println("Reading file in.")
         clientDocSaved.open(pathout, OpenReportOptions._openAsReadOnly);
           def rowsetController = clientDocSaved.getRowsetController()
         rowsetController.setDefaultNumOfBrowsingRecords(1000000)
         rowsetController.setRowsetBatchSize(1000000)
         rowsetController.setMaxNumOfRecords(1000000)
         //setup metadata
         IRowsetMetaData rowsetMetaData = new RowsetMetaData()
         Fields fields =  clientDocSaved.getDataDefController().getDataDefinition().getResultFields()
         rowsetMetaData.setDataFields(fields)
         def values = rowsetController.browseFieldValues(fields.get(0), 1000000)
         values.each{value->
            println(value.displayText(new Locale("ENGLISH")))
    Before using the browseFieldValues method I was trying to use a rowsetCursor
                //get the rowset cursor to navigate through the results
                RowsetCursor rowsetCursor = clientDoc.getRowsetController().createCursor(null, rowsetMetaData)
                //navigate through the rowset and log the name and value
                rowsetCursor.moveTo(0)
                while(!rowsetCursor.isEOF()){
                     Record currentRecord = rowsetCursor.getCurrentRecord()
                     //println("current record number: " + rowsetCursor.getCurrentRecordNumber())
                     for(int i=0;i<fields.size();i++){
                          //println("Column - "+fields.get(i).getName())
                          if (currentRecord.size()>0){
                              println(currentRecord.getValue(i))
                     rowsetCursor.moveNext()
    the currentRecord was always an empty list and I did not get any data values at all.
    Am I missing something in using these approaches?
    I'm fairly new to using the Java SDK for CR. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • I need help restoring data from my time machine.

    1)  On the time machine, where do I find the TRASH file that is located on the dock in my desktop?  I'd like to restore that to a prior date but can't find it.
    2)   I DID A VERY BAD THING & need help to get back to where I was before.   I wanted to delete files that were taking up lots of space.  My OTHER section  was using 160G.  I downloaded OmniDiskSweep and found that 120G was being used by my virtual machine (I run Quicken in Windows, through VMware).  I started to delete files that were called Snapshots assuming these were the snapshots that the program regularly takes of my files. Apparently they were not. I also deleted the program Windows XP Professional because that was never used.  When I try to open VM or quicken program, it says it is missing a particular snapshot, i.e. Snapshot 11104.  I deleted about 20 of these. I left all the other files that said Windows XP Home Edition.  But now it shows that I only have the Professional Edition, even though that's what I deleted.  I'm trying to restore from Time Machine and it looks like the information is not there - I've tried various different backups and nothing seems to have the information I need.  The earliest back up I have is from 5/7 when I started time machine on a new external 1TB HD.  Would that have the information I need since it's the very first back up?  Please Help.

    I am assuming it's real data because it's taking up storage on my HD.  It falls in the category "other" and the total of this section is 160G. Here is a snapshot of the virtual machine.
    I also took a shot of the VM snapshots & it tells how much space is being taken up by the snapshots.
    I've now changed the number of snapshots taken down to 12 (didn't know I had this option) & I can delete alot of the 21 snapshots that have already been saved.  I have no idea how much of the HD was set aside for the VM because someone else installed it for me 5 years ago.  I've had enough problems with it over the years that I've wanted to switch to Quicken for Mac or find another financial program to use. I've upgraded the VM 2x over the years, but didn't want to spend $100 for Version 5.   I understand the concept of a VM but that's about all.
    I did do the disk cleanup in Windows on the C drive.  I deleted 700 MB of temporary files and then compressed 4G of data down to 2G.  While the cleanup was progressing it said that the C drive was 30.99G and 78% of it was free.  That just doesn't make sense to me.  It recommended a defrag, so I did that also.
    I'm pretty sure it's real data because I recently had to switch from a 320G external HD for TM, to a 1T HD.  One TM backup was over 300G which I found to be excessive because I basically use my computer for mail, some word processing, and my financial data.
    Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it.

  • Need to read data from a jsp and insert in other jsp

    Hi,
    I have a jsp where i need to read from another jsp(which has data " header ---insert -----footer") and find a string "insert" in it and replace that string with a some value in the current jsp.
    Thanx in Advance.
    Sridhar.

    I have a jsp
    which needs to take headers and footers dynamically and insert them into my jsp.
    currently what i am doing is, using a script to get these header and footer and using document.write
    MYJSP.jsp looks this way
    <script src="/../Headerfooter.jsp"/>
    <script language="javascript">
    document.write(header); -->defined in -> /HeaderFooter.jsp
    document.write("<table>...</table>");
    document.write(footer);-->defined in -> /HeaderFooter.jsp
    </script>

    header = "<html>...<table width=\"100\">....";
    footer ="....</html">

  • Need help - select data from NCLOB column problem

    Hi,
    Im having problem retrieving data from NCLOB columns via ODBC. After SQLExecdirect on my SELECT statement call to SQLFetch gives me following error:
    ORA-24806 LOB form mismatch
    I tried following two ways of data retrieval:
    SQLExecDirect(hstmt,(SQLTCHAR*)szSQLStatement,SQL_NTS);
    SQLBindCol(hstmt,3,SQL_C_TCHAR,chBuffer,sizeof(chBuffer),&iDataLen);
    SQLFetch(hstmt);
    OR
    SQLExecDirect(hstmt,(SQLTCHAR*)szSQLStatement,SQL_NTS);
    SQLFetch(hstmt);
    SQLGetData(hstmt,3,SQL_C_TCHAR,chBuffer,sizeof(chBuffer),&iDataLen);
    Both times call to SQLFetch gives me ORA-24806 LOB form mismatch error.
    INSERT and UPDATE for this table works just fine.
    If I change NCLOB type to CLOB works just fine, but I will be storing Unicode data, so using CLOB cant be a solution
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vlad

    Yes, the 9.2.0.2 driver can be downloaded from OTN. I don't believe it will solve your particular problem, but it will help in general. If you don't grab the latest version, you'll probably have to chack the "Force SQL_WCHAR Support" option in the DSN configuration.
    From the help file
    "The C data type, SQL_C_WCHAR, was added to the ODBC interface to allow applications to specify that an input parameter is encoded as Unicode or to request column data returned as Unicode. The macro SQL_C_TCHAR is useful for applications that need to be built as both Unicode and ANSI. The SQL_C_TCHAR macro compiles as SQL_C_WCHAR for Unicode applications and as SQL_C_CHAR for ANSI applications."
    My first thought would be that your application is not being compiled as Unicode. If you substitute SQL_C_WCHAR for SQL_C_TCHAR when you're dealing with NCLOB columns, I suspect you'll have better luck.
    More help file
    "The SQL data types, SQL_WCHAR, SQL_WVARCHAR, and SQL_WLONGVARCHAR, were added to the ODBC interface to represent columns defined in a table as Unicode. These values are potentially returned from calls to SQLDescribeCol, SQLColAttribute, SQLColumns, and SQLProcedureColumns. In Oracle release 8.1.7.0.0 or 9.0.1.0.0, the Oracle database does not support encoding columns as Unicode. These values would not be returned from the ODBC Drivers for Oracle release 8.1.7.0.0 or for Oracle 9.0.1.0.0 databases.
    In Oracle release 9.2.0.0.0, Unicode encoding was supported for SQL column types NCHAR, NVARCHAR2, and NCLOB. In addition, Unicode encoding was also supported for SQL column types CHAR and VARCHAR2 if the character semantics were specified in the column definition.
    Starting with release 9.2.0.2.0, the ODBC Driver supports these SQL column types and maps NCHAR to the SQL data type SQL_WCHAR, NVARCHAR2 is mapped to SQL_WVARCHAR, and NCLOB is mapped to SQL_WLONGVARCHAR. The SQL CHAR column is mapped to SQL_WCHAR and the VARCHAR2 column is mapped to SQL_WVARCHAR if the character semantics are specified for the column. While the Force SQL_WCHAR Support option is still available in the 9.2.0.2.0 ODBC Driver, it is no longer required for Unicode support."

  • Streaming data to disk, need help reading data into Power Spectrum/Octave vi

    I'm streaming data to disk in one loop, however once this finishes I'd like to read the data into power spectrum vi/Octave analysis vi in another loop. The data from the read vi is a string and power spectrum vi needs 1d waveform. Does anyone have experience with this process?

    From your general description, I gather you are streaming to a text based file (comma or tab separated spreadsheet format) and would like to analyse this data with a power spectrum or octave analysis when you finish. Since you are streaming, I assume you have a lot of data. Do you have more than one channel?
    In any case, you have two simple options (and lots of complex ones). You can either read the data back from disk and convert it to a 1D array (try the Read From Spreadsheet File.vi - will get a 2D array, take the first column or the column of your choice if you have more than one channel) or you can use the Spreadsheet String to Array primitive to create an array from your text data before you save it to disk.
    If your data rate is slow enough, you can analyze as you acquire and store.
    Taking your data as text is very inefficient. What you really want to do is read the data as binary, use that for your analysis, and use something like the Write to Spreadsheet File.vi to save text data to disk.
