Need help sorting a 'self-populating' plist file (vpn on mac leopard server - 10.6.8)
i recently configured my mac snow leopard server using terminal and had it successfully working.
i could vpn internally and externally to my server at its location.
i one day started getting the message
"The connection has failed. Please verify your settings and try again"
i did as the message said and everything remained the same;
- server IP
- shared secret
- username and password
- public IP address
- com.apple.ppp.l2tp.plist stil, configured correctly
on a mission i thought id configure it the normal way by entering the data into the server admin panel and tried flicking the VPN service on and it wouldnt work, i was also getting an error saying it could not launch the com.apple.ppp.l2tp plist.
upon investigation i found out that i had installed (but not running) iVPN... so i uninstalled this...
still i could not get a VPN connection so i checked the com.apple.RemoteAccessServers.plist and noticed it had doubled in size (originally 4kb and now 8kb).
i thought this was a mistake and deleted it knowing it would self create a new fresh plist file.... HOWEVER it constantly populates the info twice as shown below:

Thinking i was half clever i thought id do a restore to when i first set the server up... not successful
Secondly i wiped the drive with zero data and did a fresh install... still not successful.
There must be a way to fix this BS error!

I would think you could copy them over using rsync, which is part of the OS X server package. If you're not familiar with rsync there is a tutorial here:

Skip the stuff about installing and configuring rsync and just go to the part about using it to copy files between servers.

Can anybody help me to open a .dmg file on my MAC OS 9.2.2. the file is a Mac OSX 10.4 Tiger Boot Disk which i would like to run along side OS 9.2.2
Rincewind is correct is saying that DiskCopy 6.3.3 can mount many .dmg images on the desktop (thanks for the correction, R.). He is also correct in saying their contents will generally run only in OS X.
Interestingly, I find by testing that Disk Copy 6.4 and 6.5b11 are unable to mount several .dmgs that 6.3.3 mounts OK.
Trying to install OS X from a disk image that has been burned to disk in OS 9 is going to be a fool's errand, I'm afraid. Buy the correct installer disc set. -

i need help, i put my cd's in and everyhting and i filled it with songs ans i can play them and everything, but i hate thats itssorted in ABC order. i cannot figure how to put them so it is in order by the CD or the bandname.

message me on aim if you want [email][email protected]][email protected][/url]To group the songs into albums or artist groups, I would definitely suggest putting all the tracks from each album/group in its own folder on your PC and put the folder on the muvo in just the same way as you would put a single mp3. The player (in normal play mode) will then play each folder all the way through before moving on to the next one alphabetically (or numerically, if you put numbers at the start of the folder names) and you can then use 'skip folder' to skip through to find the particular album or artist you're looking for. Play around with the shuffle modes too - you can shuffle within folders or just shuffle everything if you want.
Tracks will normally be played alphabetically. To get them to play in order of track number, put numbers at the beginning of each file name. E.g.: file 'examplesong.mp3' would become '0_ examplesong.mp3' If you've got tonnes of songs and you're worried about it taking ages, the computer will do it for you! Click on 'my computer', then click on 'Muvo N200 media explorer'.. This shows the contents of your player. Choose a folder to reorder the songs in and click on it to display the songs. In the pictures along the top of the window, 4th from the right is an icon with a downward facing arrow and an A above a Z. Click on this, it's called 'custom sort'. You can then use the arrows at the bottom to change the order of your tracks to how you want them. Click OK, and they'll all be numbered in that order!

I don't think you can put folders within folders in the muvo, but just the one layer really helps organisation.

I used List Directory on advanced IO , to list all .. the Name is the same for all ... then i used Name_ concateneted with Serial(typed)* .. this command serial* ll list all serials equal the typed , in my case , ll exist only one , cuz its a count this serial .Then i pass the path to the delete , and its done !

Need help Sorting an Arraylist of type Object by Name
Hey guys this is my first time posting on this forum so hopefully i do it the right way. My problem is that i am having difficulties sorting an Array list of my type object that i created. My class has fields for Name, ID, Hrs and Hrs worked. I need to sort this Array list in descending order according to name. Name is the last name only. I have used a bubble sort like this:

before many time to sort an array of my class TStudent according to GPA. This time though i tried using an Array list instead of just a simple array and i can't figure out how i would modify that to perform the same task. Then i googled it and read about the Collections.sort function. The only problem there is that i know i have to make my own comparator but i can't figure out how to do that either. All of the examples of writing a comparator i could find were just using either String's or just simple Arrays of strings. I couldn't find a good example of using an Array list of an Object.
Anyways sorry for the long explanation and any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

Need urgent help in configuring Client to Site IPSec VPN with Hairpinning on Cisco ASA5510 - 8.2(1).
The following is the Layout:
There are two Leased Lines for Internet access - 1.1.1.1 & 2.2.2.2, the latter being the Standard Default route, the former one is for backup.
I have been able to configure Client to Site IPSec VPN
1) With access from Outside to only the Internal Network (172.16.0.0/24) behind the asa
2) With Split tunnel with simultaneous assess to internal LAN and Outside Internet.
But I have not been able to make tradiotional Hairpinng model work in this scenario.
I followed every possible sugestions made in this regard in many Discussion Topics but still no luck. Can someone please help me out here???

Neither Adding dynamic NAT for 192.168.150.0/24 on outside interface works, nor does the sysopt connection permit-vpn works
Please tell what needs to be done here, to hairpin all the traffic to internet comming from VPN Clients.
That is I need clients conected via VPN tunnel, when connected to internet, should have their IP's NAT'ted against the internet2-outside interface address 2.2.2.2, as it happens for the Campus Clients (172.16.0.0/16)
I'm not much conversant with everything involved in here, therefore please be elaborative in your replies. Please let me know if you need any more information regarding this setup to answer my query.

Thanks again for your help, got it working. Actually the problem was ASA needed some time after configuring to work properly ( ?????? ). I configured and tested several times within a short period, during the day and was not working initially, GUI packet tracer was showing some problems (IPSEC Spoof detected) and also there was this left out dns. Its working fine now.
But my problem is not solved fully here.
Does hairpinning model allow access to the campus LAN behind ASA also?. Coz the setup is working now as i needed, and I can access Internet with the NAT'ed ip address (outside-interface). So far so good. But now I cannot access the Campus LAN behind the asa.

File Sharing Speed with Leopard Server/ Windows XP
Went from Panther Server to Leopard Server. Panther worked fine. Leopard Server we've had a lot of problems with Windows XP clients. We run data files from the server. Using Panther the file sharing speed was comparable to putting the data file on the PC itself. When we moved to Leopard the speed went through the floor. 8 seconds on the PC and 4.5 minutes on the Server. The server is a substantially stronger machine with a lot more resources - but we've had to stop using it for it's intended purpose.
Help?Same problem but almost the reverse. 10.5.2 server, windows clients file browsing, opening and saving speed is great, but our 4 iMac clients (Leopard also) really, really slow to generate thumbnail views of files and open them. Happens across several shares, seems to be a problem with AFP, although now after disabling AFP on some of the shares, it is happening on SMB as well. I have read several other discussions on this forum that attempt to deal with AFP performance issues, but none provide a real solution. Now that it is also happening with the SMB protocol as well I am getting a bit concerned.
Any advice or even a link to more info would be greatly appreciated. -
Mod Rewrite & .htaccess File on a Mac (Leopard)
I just copied all my websites over from my PC to my Mac and

have simply become invisible. So what program do most people
use to
create .htaccess files on a Mac? Do I need to track down my

Also, I've read that mod rewrite doesn't work a Mac unless

it. Actually, I assume that isn't true for Leopard, as I
checked several
pages on my CMS, and they seemed to be working.

for me. Can

Mac tell me
what obstacles you ran into?
