Need sysdba access to edit initialization parameters

When I log into enterprise manager, go to database, then initialization parameters..
it says 'You are not logged on with sysdba privilege'
my preferences - credentials has sys and password in the sysdba fields..
what needs to be done

What you need to do is logout, and log back in with a user that has sysdba privileges.
After you click on Logout, you will see the options:
- Log out of Database: database_name
- Display database login page after logout
Use this option to reconnect to the database as a different user
Log out of Enterprise Manager and all other targets
(Logged in As YOURUSER)
Select - Log out of Database and Display database login page after logout.
You will then get the option to connect as sysdba. Change Connect as "Normal" to SYSDBA.

  • Need to access TestStand Sequence Step Parameters from Excel Macro

    Trying to create an EXCEL spreadsheet containing a list of all steps in a TestStand Sequence including Parameter names and types. How can I access the parameter names and types from EXCEL Visual Basic? It seems the API provides access to sequence parameters, but not step parameters.

    mmghost,
    Unfortunately, in TestStand 2.0, it is not possible to access the step parameter information.
    In TestStand 3.0, there are a few more APIs exposed that give you access to the step parameters. In TestStand 3.0, these are the steps you would take to get that information:
    1) Get a hold of the step object of interest. There are many ways to do this. For instance, starting with the Sequence Context you can get the Sequence object, and then get a step object from the sequence.
    2) From the Step object, get the Module object.
    3) At this point, you need to cast the Module object to the specific adapater type module you are using. For this example, we will assume that we are using the CVI adapter, so we would cast the Module object to a CVIModule o
    bject.
    4) The CVIModule object contains a Parameters collection of type CVIParameters, which contains the type information.
    For different adapter types you would just cast the Module object to a different specific module (LabVIEWModule, ActiveXModule, etc).

  • Minimum initialization parameters that need to be specified

    During Database Creation, will specifying these initialization parameters be enough:
    db_name= mydb
    control_files = ("C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\MYDB\CONTROL01.CTL","C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\MYDB\CONTROL02.CTL","C:\ORACLE\PRODUCT\10.2.0\ORADATA\MYDB\CONTROL03.CTL")
    db_block_size=8192
    undo_management=AUTO
    Also, is there an order in which these need to be specified ?

    Hi All,
    Now I'm learning JSP . I want to access the initialization parameters using jsp. How to do it. I used the following code , but it shows null
    initparameter.jsp
        <html>
         <body>
              <h1>

                        out.println("InitParameter Checking");
                        out.println(application.getInitParameter("param1"));

         </body>
    </html>I configured the following tags in my web.xml.
            <servlet>
              <servlet-name>initparameter</servlet-name>

    Thanks in advance,

    try overriding the jspInit method and then call getServletConfig() method and call getInitiParameter() on that ..infact the config implicit object would iachieve the same .i don't understand why it's printing null in your case .let me test and see

  • Session parameters / initialization parameters

    what are session parameters? What are initialization parameters?
    When we do: alter system set....., does need a restart of the machine? of Oracle instance?
    thx

    Initialization parameters are those defined in your pfile or spfile (init.ora).
    Some of these parameters can be redefined at session level:
    see http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96536/ch14.htm#1014104
    To get the parameter values, you can for example, run
    show parameter <parm>
    When we do: alter system set....., does need a restart of the machine? No
    of Oracle instance?Yes if the parameter is static, no if the parameter is dynamic.

  • Need help accessing the router web page.  I have been tol...

    Need help accessing the router web page.  I have been told my router is acting like a switch and the IP address is not in the proper range.  I have tried reseting the router (hold for 30 sec and unplug for 5 mins).  Didn't work.
    thanks

    What router are you using?  Almost all Linksys routers use 192.168.1.1 as the default local IP address, but there is at least one that uses 192.168.16.1 , namely the WTR54GS  (not the WRT54GS).
    You need to try again to reset the router to factory defaults.
    To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
    1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
    2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
    3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
    5) Power down the router.
    6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
    7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
    8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
    9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
    10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank (note: a few Linksys routers have a default user name of "admin" (with no quotes)), and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
    If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
    If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
    If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
    If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.
    Please let me know how things turn out for you.

  • Database Initialization Parameters Removal list 9iR2

    I have seen Oracle Metalink Document: Database Initialization Parameters and Configuration for Oracle Applications Release 11i Doc ID: Note:216205.1
    https://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:654135795036791041::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,216205.1,1,1,1,helvetica#9iR2
    This document has a removal list and states that these parameters should be removed from the database initialization parameters file for 9iR2, while I can see some of the parameters being used which are hash_area_size, sort_area_size and optimizer_mode.
    Please clarify.
    Thank you
    Adith

    You would need to set "hash_area_size" and "sort_area_size" if you have 8.1.7.X database. For 9i and 10g you do not need to set them, and this is exactly what is mentioned in the note.
    If you check "Release-specific database initialization parameters for 9iR2 (9.2.0.X)", you will find the following:
    As of 9i, the automatic memory manager is used. This avoids the need to manually tune sort_area_size and hash_area_size

  • Initialization Parameters for JSPs ??

    Hi All,
              Is there any way to provide Initialization Parameters for JSP ??
              If so how should it be done on Weblogic ??
              Thanx In Advance,
              Navaneeth.

    Hi Navaneeth ,
              If we want to provide Initialization parameters for jsp , we need to register a JSP as a servlet using the <servlet> element.
              Registering a JSP as a servlet allows you to specify the load order, initialization attributes, and security roles for a JSP, just as you would for a servlet.
              <servlet>
              <servlet-name>MainServlet</servlet-name>
              <jsp-file>/myapplication/critical.jsp</jsp-file>
              <init-param>
              <param-name>Name of the Parameter</param-name>
              <param-value>Value of the Parameter</param-value>
              </init-param>
              </servlet>
              go through the link ,you will find the documentaion on this

  • Passing Runtime initialization parameters to a Servlet

    Hi all.
    Plz.let me know, how do you pass runtime initialization parameters to a Servlet. Also, when do we need this approach. Thank You.

    Global parameters that may change should be passed as parameters so that the servlet doesn't have to be recompiled to make the change.
    Here a global parameter is used to store a timeOut value. This value is written to every web page to force the page to refresh.
    <web-app>
        <servlet>
            <servlet-name>
                KioskServlet
            </servlet-name>
            <servlet-class>
                KioskServlet
            </servlet-class>
            <init-param>
                <!-- number of seconds of inactivity until timing out -->
                <!-- 300 = 5 minutes -->
                <param-name>timeoutValue</param-name>
                <param-value>300</param-value>
            </init-param>
         </servlet>
    </webapp>

  • Why do we need write access to Java installation Directory

    We are Upgrading from Siebel Analytics 7.8 to OBIEE 10.1.3.4.
    As OBIEE needs Java 1.5 or higher as a pre-requisite we are planning to uninstall Java 1.4 and install latest version of Java 1.5.
    According to OBI Installation and Configuration Guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10415_01/doc/bi.1013/b31765.pdf -> Page 39 "If you are installing using the Basic installation type, make the user or user group permissions
    writable for the user installing Oracle Business Intelligence, for all JDK 1.5.0 installation directories,
    subdirectories, and files". Can anybody let me know why we need write access to Java Installation Directory??
    Thanks,
    Chandra

    I had this same question and asked Oracle. Here's what I was told:
    Per Dev:
    "For OBI Presentation Services and OBI Publisher, jdk fonts files are copied into the JDK location because we do not bundle our own JDK. To ensure the install can do this you need to ensure that the Oracle BI installer has permissions to copy files to the specified JDK location.
    This means that if the same user who installer/untarred JDK is also installing Oracle BI, the install should work. In this case the the permissions of the JDK is probably 755.
    It will not work if a root user installs JDK and a normal user installs Oracle BI because the normal user does not have access to write to the JDK location or will not work if the JDK location is read-only, i.e. 444. In this case running chmod -R 777 will work."

    You need to change the pcdStartup.properties file.
    This file is the place where settings for folder like import and export are defined.

  • Recommended database initialization parameters databases for OBIEE

    Hi ,
    We are implementing OBIEE. We created 11gR1 (11.1.0.7) databases - one for datawarehouse and second for ETL repository. Can anyone please suggest the recommended database initialization parameters for the same. I searched metalink and got for EBS (11i/R12) and not for OBIEE.
    Also, if you have any best practices documents for OBIEE, please provide the link.
    Thanks in advance for your help

    You need to look for OBIA (Apps) not OBIEE:

  • Small bug: Database configuration - Initialization parameters

    Hi!
    SQLDeveloper version: 3.2.20.09
    View -> DBA -> Database configuration -> Initialization Parameters -> right click "Open" -> editor with "Parameter" and "Value" (inter alia) columns appears
    Changing value for parameter "optimizer_features_enable" isn't working:
    Example:
    Parameter: optimizer_features_enable
    Changing value from 11.2.0.1 to 9.2.0 -> commiting changes -> ORA-02017 error appears ("integer value required")
    In "Messages - Log" window appears the following statement: ALTER SYSTEM SET optimizer_features_enable=9.2.0 COMMENT='' SCOPE=MEMORY
    I think rather it should be: ALTER SYSTEM SET optimizer_features_enable='9.2.0' COMMENT='' SCOPE=MEMORY
    It looks like a small bug.

    Hi dz_r,
    One workaround for this case is, when editing the data in the grid cell, to enclose the Oracle version in single quotes. After committing to apply the update (which works), the grid refresh strips away the single quotes, leaving the desired value displayed in the cell.
    So this is, as you say, a small bug. Note that not all parameters of type String require single quotes, e. g., cursor_sharing=exact. Probably any String beginning with a numeric digit should be enclosed in quotes automatically.
    I logged the following bug:
    Bug 16733790 - UPDATING INITIALIZATION PARAMETER OF TYPE STRING FAILS IF BEGINS WITH A NUMERIC
    Thanks for reporting this,

    i am developing a flex web application which needs to access Other domain (Payment Gateway API),is there any other way other than cross domain policy available ? please help.
    we donot have access other domain thats why we want other solution..

    All the paths to CFCs are the same in my live production site.  Can you be more specific as to what you mean by "RemoteClass aliases in your AS Classes and CFCs (if any) are correct."?  How will the app know that the CFC is on http://myLiveSite.com instead of http://myDevSite.com?  The only line of code that I have noticed that points to a URL is the endpoint in a file called _Super_XXX.as.  And at the top of that file it says that the file is not meant for editting.
    To clarify...I see your app/code all exists on a server access via a web browser so I can understand that everything still works when deployed.  Mine is a mobile app so when I am developing and testing on my local computer the URL points to my local development machine.  However when I deploy it to a mobile device like a tablet and run the app, it needs to be able to access a cfc on a remote server via a different URL ie. my http://myLiveSite.com/myCFC.cfc instead of http://localhost/myCFC.cfc
    Thanks for your help!  I will now take a look at your thread.

  • Udb needs to access keychain on startup every time. WHY?????

    Every time I start my Mac Mini I get a box that says "udb needs to access ........keychain". I enter my password and plow on. Why do I have to do this every time? It annoys me.
    I am running 10.7.2 and am using iCloud.
    Thanks
    Dave

    I seem to have fixed the problem by creating a new keychain. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why this problem would arise in the first place.
    EDIT:
    After creating my new keychain and adding new items to it, and then running First Aid to check what would happen (using the Repair instead of Verify), I see that it deleted my login keychain - again. Here's the log:
    Repair started
    Checking keychain configuration for Gary (user ID=501)
    Home directory is /Users/gary
    Checked login keychain
    Checked password for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked settings for ~/Library/Keychains/login.keychain
    Checked default keychain
    Checked keychain search list
    No problems found
    Repair completed
    Why does it do this?
    I also found my old keychain, and just re-imported it again. But, this appears to be, well, a very blatantly obvious bug.
