Need the table name

Dear All,
If we do some changes in purchasing document (PR, PO etc..) where does the data will be saved and how can we retry from the table.
Functinally we can find this under the environment menu with Item changes.

You can get all partners and their type in table EDPP1, depending of the partner type you need to go to specific table for address and other details, like for partner type KU(customer) goto KNA1,etc for partner type LI(vendor) goto LFA1 etc for partner type B(bank) goto BNKA etc ....

Sometimes we need to download the table for the desired information if the same is not available from a particular report. How to look for the table name? Is there a report or a particular feild, where we can find the name of the particular table?

Hi Friend,
If you want to see the structures then go to SE11. Sometimes it happens that you cannot find the table names but only fields. In such case, if you want to find the Table names which is not available, then go to SE90.
Abap Dictionary > Fields > Table Fields.
Now Enter the Field name in Right Hand Side of the screen then Execute. You will see the all tables by which that Fields are used.

How to get the table name and bind columns names in an INSERT statement ?

I have an INSERT statement with input parameters (for example
INSERT INTO my_table VALUES (:a, :a, :a)) and I want to know
without parsing the statement which is the name of table to
insert to and the corresponding columns.
This is needed to generate the SELECT FOR UPDATE statement to
refetch a BLOB before actually writing to it. The code does not
know in advance the schema (generic code).

Once you have prepared your statement, you can execute the
statement with the OCI_DESCRIBE_ONLY mode before binding any
columns. Then you can use OCIParamGet to find out about each
column (column index is 1-based). You should get OCI_NO_DATA or
ORA-24334 if there are no more columns in the statement. Note
that the parameter descriptor from OCIParamGet is
allocated/freed internally by OCI; you do not need to manage it
explicitly. The parameter descriptor is passed to OCIAttrGet in
order to obtain for instance the maximum size of data in the
column OCI_ATTR_DATA_SIZE. You can also get the column name in
this way, although I do not remember the #define off the top of
my head. Getting the table name appears to be much more
difficult; I have never had to do that yet. Good luck. -Ralph

   for the PO (purchase order). i want to know where i can get this type of field
i.e 'initial approval date" in which table.

Hello Ajay Kumar,
Release process for PO will be considered as change of PO and it will be updated in CDHDR and CDPOS table, so you need to check these table entires for your report.

As far as I understand what you are asking for I would suggest 4 data dictionaries that will help you to know the table name from the column names
1. USER_TAB_COLS
2. ALL_TAB_COLS
3. DBA_TAB_COLS
4. COLS
These can give you detail information about the columns and respective tables at user, schema, dba level. Further information on the table can be found by querying ALL_OBJECTS table giving table_name as Object_name, or you can join the data dictionaries too.
To know about various data dictionaries avalible in Oracle please query select * from cat;

I am writing code for an electronic sales board display in my
office. unfortunatly the datasource that is available to me is an
excel file that is updated by the sales manager every day. each
sales persons information is listed in a different tab and the tabs
name is the same as the corrosponding sales person. unfortunatly we
hire and fire many sales people every month so I need to loop
through a list of the tab names outputing the results as the table
name for my detail query for each sales rep.
anyone have this query information?

Changing the table name while drill down at the dashboard query

I have a DAY fact table that has about 1B rows.
The purpose of this table is to store on hand quantity for each item per day.
On the presentation layer I have a dashboard that will display average on hand qty per year and then user can drill down to quarter/month/week and then by day level to see the actual value at evey level.
Its hard to run aggregation on fly as all my 3 TEMP tablespace 32gb each filled and then I get error can not extent TEMP file.
So I thought I will do the aggregation at the database level and store the aggregated data in another table. So at first dashborad will read this new aggregated table to display qty at yearly. As soon as user drill down to quarter the dashbord should query the actual DAY fact table by filtering for specific year and quarter.
IS it possible? Can I change the table name while I drill down to lower level?

Hi use,
Yes. This is possible in OBIEE. You need to use Action Links to have navigation between reports. The main idea is to have 2 analysis. One with your aggregated data by year (using your aggregated table), and another one with the rest of the hierarchy and data (using normal fact table)
You add an action link on this report, that can navigate to the second report. showing "the details" (in your case would be the rest of the time dimension).

Another way is to create 2 analysis, then go to the 2nd analysis, and filter the column year as "Is based on results of other analysis" and you select there the first analysis. In this case when you click on the year in the first analysis, this value will be passed to the second analysis so you can filter the rest of the hierarchy based on the year you clicked on the first analysis.

Get the Table name by providing the Sequence name

Hello,
I wish to retrieve the table name to which the sequence is related.
I understand that when the sequence was created, no reference is mentioned to any table. The sequence may be used across many tables.
But the DB definitely knows internally how many tables are referencing the particular sequence.
So, can anyone help me in finding the table (or all tables) referencing one particular sequence.

I share Adrian's scepticism. Using the data dictionary we could find all the program units - TRIGGERS, TYPES, PROCEDURES, etc - which use the sequence. From there we can find all the TABLES that are also referenced by those programs. And that's as good as it gets in Oracle. We cannot definitely say which tables use which sequences (although a good naming convention helps).
Of course, your DBA may have access to some accurate and up-to-date documentation. But that is maintained externally to the database and not derived from it.

I need to find out the table name of the perticular field is storing in database using FM (note: using Function Module or any standard program , not manually like press F1 -> technicall setting etc.. .)
[ Exmple: Field: "MATNR" is stored in table : MARA, so i need the program/FM to findout MATNR is stoed in MARA table ]
i need this FM for update values of material master ( mm01 ) stored in different warehouse using module pool program.

Invalid table name when pass in the table name as variable in dynamic sql

I need to create a stored procedure which will return a list of data to my java application like the following.
first, select the table name from the first table.
For example : SELECT T_NAME FROM MDR_SMSTABLES
second, select the data from the table which returned by first select statement
For example : SELECT * FROM T_NAME.
I use dynamic sql with cursor to select the data. But it returns "java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00903: invalid table name"
I fetch the table name to varchar2. I think this might the cause it returns me the this error. But i don't know what type should i put for the table name other then varchar2.

The only option to see the active table/ field name is through F1 --> Technical Information. Apart from this, you can use any 3rd part application like GUIex (INbuilt in SAP ECC 6.0 ... can be activated by clicking on the tri-color button on the top right), but you need technical knowledge to understand the information. As far consolidated list of MM tables is concerned, SAP don;t provide you the same at one place, it experience and knowledge which help you in this regard.
