Need time in 'sssss'  format

Hi,
I am developing a process which takes a file say a.txt as input and processes records in it and outputs 3 files say b.txt,c.txt,d.txt. To make them unique we had appended date in 'sssss' format to the file name expecting something like b_00321.txt and so on.
When I run the process i get the same time appended to all the 3 files such as b_00321.txt, c_00321.txt,d_00321.txt .
SimpleDateFormat dateFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("SSSSS");
strFlNm = "b_"+dateFormat.format(new Date());
Not sure why. Kindly help.

I second josah that if you're create the names within the same milisecond
you dont get unique numbers.
I also noticed the existence of System.nanoTime() and did a smal test :
for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
        System.out.println( Long.toString(System.nanoTime() )//
             +", "//
             + Long.toString(new Date().getTime()));
     }the nanoTime() depends on the os you're using, and in my case (linux)
I did get better results with the nanoTime() method.

  • In the advanced tab of languages and Region the time and date formats will not change

    For a certian Application I am using I need to change the format of the Time and Date. I had no problems in Mountain Lion. In the advanced tab of languages and Region the time and date formats will not change. I need the date format to read as 01/01/14 and time format to read 13:00. As I said this was easily done in Mountain Lion and all previous Apple OS. I suspect it's an issue with in the OS.

    You're right, it has been that way for a long time. I've never bothered reporting it as a bug since it's simple enough to deal with, but reporting it would be a reasonable thing to do.

  • Adding time into date format

    Hi
    Is there any easier way to add time value "now" into a date format with time value 00:00
    I managed to add the time
    Value(dateVariable)+(Value(Now())-Value(Today()))
    I just wander if there is any easiest way to do that or if there is any planed options for that?
    Thanks

    Hi Brutton
    I know about this. My scenario is that I use my custom date picker where user can pick a date. For easier date picking I use date format (today) and then adding day ,month or year into that so the date formant is in time 00:00. I
    need to add now time in that date so I can sort entry by date and also by time in a collection I managed to do that with the format mentioned above but I just wander if there is also any other way to do that. We already have excellent code DateAdd where we
    can add days months and years but I can't really add time with this code. I don't think that DateAdd can add time into date format or at least I haven't figure it out yet. If not there would be nice to have A TimeAdd code then instead of calculations

    Hello,

    the following info are necessary,
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:java="http://xml.apache.org/xslt/java" exclude-result-prefixes="java"
    version="1.0">

    but java SimpleDateFormat doesnt support yyyy-mm-ddThh:mm:ssZ.
    thanks in advance.

    Hi wwuest,
    I use the following code to generate such a date format :
              try {
                   SimpleDateFormat sdf = new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd");
                   Date date = sdf.parse(strDate);
                   sdf.applyPattern("yyyy-MM-dd'T'hh:mm:ss");
                   strDate = sdf.format(date);
              } // catching the parse exceptionMaybe you could try this method and see if it pass through xsl with :
    new SimpleDateFormat("yyyy-MM-dd").applyPattern("yyyy-MM-dd'T'hh:mm:ss'Z'")Bye

    I have a Western Digital external hard drive that needs to be re formatted for use on my iMac, but I do not want to lose existing data, is this possible ?

    Formatting a disk always erases all the data on it. Your only option is to back it up elsewhere and restore it once formatted.

  • How do I change the spacing before or after a hard return in Pages 5.5.2?    I am working on an academic article and need to specify paragraph formatting (OS X Yosemite 10.10.2)

    How do I change the spacing before or after a hard return in Pages 5.5.2?    I am working on an academic article and need to specify paragraph formatting (OS X Yosemite 10.10.2)

    Hi Michele,
    Select the paragraphs where you want to change the spacing.
    Format Panel > Text > Spacing
    You can change 1.0 - Single to something else, or type a number in Before or After.

    How do you Change time from number format(ie. 3.50 hours) to regular time format( ie.3:30)

    I performed the following function in order to get my report to view the information the way that I wanted to see it:
    put this formula across from the caption âu20ACu0153Display Stringâu20AC within the âu20ACu0153Format Fieldâu20AC window for description.Â
    whileprintingrecords;
    MonthName(tonumber(Mid({CartonHistory.DateTimeStamp},5,2)),true) & Mid({CartonHistory.DateTimeStamp},7,2) & ", " & Mid({CartonHistory.DateTimeStamp},1,4)Â & " " & Mid({CartonHistory.DateTimeStamp},9,2) & ":" & Mid({CartonHistory.DateTimeStamp},11,2) & "." & Mid({CartonHistory.DateTimeStamp},13,2)
    It converts dates from: 20061212102311xx to: Dec12, 2006 10:23.11.

  • Date Format (Need result in date format)

    Dear ,
    i have worked on this query which produce result in error, infact i need result in date format and this format 'MON-YY'. :
    select to_date( EFFECTIVE_DATE,'MON-YY' ) as MON_YY FROM GL_JE_LINES
    but now EFFECTIVE_DATE is like this format '12/31/2008'

    I tell again: a date has no internal format.
    There is only a default output-format for date-objects wich is used as default output format and for implicit date conversions.
    If you want to know the actual nls_date_format for your session you can use:
    select * from nls_session_parameters where parameter='NLS_DATE_FORMAT';You can change it for your session with:
    alter session set nls_date_format='<your_new_date_format>';Please take a look at:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams122.htm
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/sql_elements004.htm#sthref405
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14200/sql_elements003.htm#BABGIGCJ
    The internal storage of a date-object does not depend on the actual value of NLS_DATE_FORMAT.
    This will only used for output and for implicit conversions e.g. with to_date or to_char without explicit format.
    To select a date from a table is also an implicit conversion to character, because you want to see characters on your screen.

    Not quite.. it will work on a NAS that has Time Machine Extensions.. many do.. the big brands.. Synology, QNAP, Netgear, etc.. and even some small one, I am using a cheapie made by zyxel works fine..
    But some like buffalo have no updates to later versions of OSX.. Apple dramatically changed the way Lion handles AFP in network disks.. so plenty of companies had to release updates.
    See this for setup info.
