Need to add Menu Item to Search Result Template page

Hi Guys,
I am using UCM 11g and I am customizing serach result page.
When we do search on UCM, we get a search result page. This search result page has a two drop downs (on the top right) "Change View" and "Search Action" in the blue strip.
I have to add one customized dropdown option in "Publish Selected", it worked well with 10g by overriding searchapi_result_menus_setup include but not working in 11G.
Appreciate your help on this, Thank you
Thanks,
Ashok

Is there any way to solve this problem?Try this link - [http://pscode.org/jh/bin/helpsetter-apidocs.jnlp]. It is sand-boxed, like an applet. It should prompt if you want to create shortcuts, click OK/Yes.
After you run it, open the 'All Programs'/system menu. There should be an item under the 'JavaHelp System' menu for the 'JavaHelp System JavaDocs'. That link is to launch the application again. [Java Web Start|http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_webstart.xml] *(<- link)* is what installs the menus. JWS can also install menus specifically for application help.
Older applications declared the required menu items and desktop shortcut in the JNLP launch file, but JRE 1.6.0_18+ offers the IntegrationService *(<- link)* to applications, and provides feedback on success/failure. Note that some systems will ignore requests for desktop integration. Ubuntu Linux will allow for the creation of desktop shortcuts, but silently ignore requests for menu items.

• Add "Save" button to search results

Hi,
a customer would like to add a "Save" button to search results to enable users to download documents in KD instead of opening them.
Results can be for instance from a crawled file system.
How can I do it?
Thanks.

As long as your list is bring crawled, which it must be, your custom columns should get mapped to managed properties. You can now update your Search Results Web Part's Item Display Template to retrieve this additional particular managed property,
and then display it if there is a value.

The library is being crawled and I added the column to "Managed Properties" on the search settings on O365 and mapped it to the actual column. Now I don't know how to add it on the "Search Result" Webpart to include the Column Property before
displaying the name of the document

Hello,
Normally, when I use my online account, when i select a document to open with excel or with adobe, the applicaiton installed on the PC, is used to open the files.
Can you check the under control panel, default programs, and see what program is associated to the PDF files?
When you try to open one of those pdf files from your back, what happens?
If you download them to the HDD, are they automatically associated to ADOBE?

• How to add menu item in Virtual Folders Actions Menu

Hi ,
I am writting a custom component which will add some action on documents and virtual folder.
I am able to add the menu item for DocInfo, but not able to add Menu Item in Virtual Folders Actions Menu.
Please help!!
thanks

I am able to add the menu item for DocInfo, but not able to add Menu Item in Virtual Folders Actions Menu.What exactly you are trying to modify? If web GUI, it should be following the same principles as your "DocInfo" changes (only the basis service is COLLECTION_DISPLAY). If you are trying to modify Desktop Integration Suite, I'm afraid there is no help (at least, I have not heard that DIS could be modified by custom components).

• Links in Search Result Templates

I´m having troubles trying to put a working link in custom Description field while creating a head line based Search Result Template.
I have added description field to customize columns
I have marked Use Advanced Description Form check
and
I have put a very easy (and unuseful) link like this under Main Information textfield
*<a href = "www.google.es"><$dID$></a>*
and
*& lt;a href = "www.google.es"& gt;& lt;$dID$& gt;& lt;/a& gt;* (without spaces between & and lt /gt)
I need UCM to show a link to google called as dID,
dID
But I´m getting
*<a href = "www.google.es"><$dID$></a>* literally
instead.
How can i get this?
Thank you very much
I know is a very stupid question and probably i have only to call some idoc or something like this but im not capable to do it.

Wow, I did not think this would be that difficult! For whatever reason, I've found that the anchor tag just doesn't get encoded correctly. Must be a bug...
Anyway, here's a way to get it to work, but very round-about:
1. Create an idoc file (ie. description.idoc) with this code, and check it in:
<@dynamichtml custom_desc@>
<a href="http://www.google.es"><$dID$></a>
[add any other code]
<@end@>
2. In the "Main Information" text field of your search template, add this:
<$include custom_desc$>
3. In the "Advanced Options", click on "show additional options" and put this into the textbox:
<$docLoadResourceIncludes("dDocName=[ContentID from step #1]&RevisionSelectionMethod=LatestReleased")$>
You'll obviously need to checkout/in this idoc file anytime you want to change the description. There's gotta be a better way, but this is something you can use if you need it right away.
Good luck, and please award points as you see fit.

• Thumbnails on search result template

I need to put some kind of thmbnails on search result template.
I am pretty sure , that there was a thread in this forum and perhaps there is a component for it, but cannot find it. Or maybe i am wrong.
Thank in advance

All content types have an icon associated with them - you can view this in COnfiguration Manager.
If you do not have Inbound Refinery and you checkin content items and then view them in a search results setting that shows thumbnails then you will get this icon.
Even if you have IBR some items will not have thumbnails.
You can choose the icon on a per content-type basis.
Does that help?

• Is it possible to select multiple files on the W8.1U1's SEARCH RESULTS window page? For instance, if 10 CPP files are found by the seraching mechanism, can I select all 10 files and have them open in Visual Studio at once?

TIA.

Brandon, this forum member is known since a long time ago an arrogant (he thinks he knows more than every other) and stupid(*) (full of misconceptions). His first post is a very good example of what I just wrote. How does he dare to suggest to use File
Explorer, if W8.1 already has a system built for doing just this search? Do I have to open File Explorer in the folder (or somewhere near) the item I'm looking for? What about the other items in folders above it? This suggestion is stupid(*). He even
asserts that I'm using Modern UI! I'm not! I'm using the desktop, but his misconceptions make him write such idiocies(*) with such arrogance: asserting what he doesn't know (arrogancy and stupidity). And more, this guy is no one to say he/he/he to me, because
I know he is what you deleted from my posts, and more, he is often crying, moaning and snivelling like a spoiled child in this forum and messing up any thread posting stupid(*) images of programs imagined/designed/developed by others. All posts from him in
this thread must be trashed (you should do it). He has nothing to contribute POSITIVELY in this thread, but just to MESS IT UP.
(*) stupid, I can write, after all, you didn't delete this word from this ... poster.
Now, look at the first reply: this forum member has no idea how much stupid is his 'work around'. And this 'work around' does not answer my question and even does address the environment I mentioned: W8.1 U1 search results window page, and not File Explorer!
His second post just reassures me he has no idea what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. He even mentions Win-w(!) which proves he totally ignore what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. A user like this one, must have many monitors to
keep him busy looking at them, and having excuses for not read and learn technical documentation. It's ignorance about technical aspects of computer issues that makes him post bad bug report and a bad idea in Connect site:
Using Get-Date -Format "CyM" to work around some bugs
https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/884502/using-get-date-format-cym-to-work-around-some-bugs
Only total ignorance about PowerShell makes someone post such bad 'bug' report. He got critics about his bad post, but I'm sure he doesn't understand.
Column headers for alias should include DisplayName instead of just Name
https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/908152/column-headers-for-alias-should-include-displayname-instead-of-just-name
In fact, the information displayed is already DisplayName, but this guy has no technical knowledge to understand what is happening.
These 2 forum members just messed up a thread that should be free of negative contributions, besides off topic.

• How to set a customized search results template for all users

Hi.
I know the customized search results views are stored in a file called pne_portal.hda that resides on every user's subfolder in data/users/profiles/...
Is there a way to set a customized search results template for all users? If it's impossible, is there a way to modify the Headline view? I'm not able to find the resource or template where this view is.
Thanks in advance.

I wasn't able to understand what was meant by this post. Therefore, I modified the standard template HeadLine View.
Columns for this template are defined in the include slim_search_result_table_header_setup (in std_page.htm).
Here is the modification of the code:
<$if customTemplateId and not (baseTemplateId like customTemplateId)$>
<$columnsString = utGetValue("customlisttemplates/" & strLower(customTemplateId), "columns")$>

<$else$>

<$columnsString="dDocName,dDocTitle,dInDate,dDocAuthor"$>

<$columnsString=columnsString&",xComment"$>

Hi to All,
Was looking for a profile option that controls the search results per page. We know there is the iProcurement section that a user can set the search results per page. But we are looking for a global profile option.
In researching this option within ML found the following profile: POR: Result Set Size. But this profile doesnt change the results per page.
Does anyone have thoughts on what the correct profile is or why the POR: Result Set Size is not working as expected.
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for your response. In Robohelp 8 there are no options for hiding the search results per page feature while generating the output. Can you please guide me. • Add new item in Search Panel

Requirement: Within a query region, add a new field to the results table and enable search by this field.
Approach:
- I added a new column within the results table by extending the VO. The search allowed property for this column is set to Yes.
- I added an LOV Input Item to the Simple Search Panel. Set the External LOV property to use a standard LOV Region/
I am trying to a create a Query criteria Map to map these two items. I am able to find my LOV input item in the Search Item property of the Query Criteria Map. However, I am unable to find the new column i added in the Results Item property of the Query Criteria Map.
Please advise.

• Add menu item in .exe-File

Is there any way, that i can add a menu item in the .exe-File?
I need a menu which is expandable for the customer!
thanks wiesi

Wiesi,
I thought this was an interesting question, because I noticed a number of people with previous questions who had serious difficulty with .rtm files and executables, and they weren't even trying to add or remove menu items dynamically. Are you using .rtm files to define your custom menus both in the development envuronment and in the EXE?
If so, I think I agree with Dennis and suggest that you abandon that approach and just build your menu programmatically, as shown in the example he points out. That way, you can create an arbitrary menu each time the VI or EXE is run. One wrinkle is that you now have to create some extra logic for constructing, saving, and loading your run-time menus. I put together an example (attached, LV 7.0) that demonstrates one way to go about it. I tested both in the development environment and after creating an EXE, and it works fine.
I'm interested in something else: how do you plan to make your EXE flexible enough to actually respond correctly to newly-introduced menu items? I guess you'll have to take some kind of a "plug-in" approach, where the anticipated menu choices will lead to the execution of additional code that you are packaging alongside the executable?

John

• Can't add menu item to showMenu panelCollection facet

Is that a bug ? JDev does not allow to add a menu item inside a showMenu panelCollection's facet. If you manually add it, it shows an error:
"Element at af:commandMenuItem not expected (missing required ancestor)".
The application runs fine. That error also shows up on the searchUI.jsff page from the Handbook sample code.
Jdev version is 11.1.1.2.0.
Thanks & Regards.

No, it's not a bug. You need a af:menu ancestor for your af:commandMenuItems:
<af:panelCollection id="pc1">
<f:facet name="menus">
<af:menu text="Actions" id="m2">
<af:commandMenuItem text="Delete" id="cmi1"
actionListener="#{deptBean.deleteRow}"
partialSubmit="true" immediate="true"
accessKey="D" accelerator="control alt R"
partialTriggers="deptTable"/>
<af:commandMenuItem actionListener="#{bindings.Last.execute}"
text="Last" accelerator="ctrl alt L"
accessKey="L" partialSubmit="true"
id="cmi2" partialTriggers="deptTable"/>
</af:menu>
</f:facet>
{code}

• The 'Search Google for' context menu is opening search results in a foreground tab, instead of a background tab. This started today when I upgraded to FF 13beta

I just upgraded to Firefox 13 beta. Previously when I use the 'Search Google for' context menu - (the menu item is shown when you select any text on a page and right click on it) - the search results page would open in a background tab. Now after the upgrade, seach results page is opening in the foreground. Really annoying :(
I'm using Firefox on Ubuntu 11.04

I see this change as well if I use the right-click context menu on Linux, so I can confirm what you see.
I don't know why this was changed and how to undo this new behavior.
