Need to call SET ROLE for Oracle before running report

Hi all,
does anyone know how I can call SET ROLE for Oracle with Crystal Reports, before running report? I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 to design report (with Server Oracle connection) and Java Reporting Component to run report within a J2EE apllication. If anyone has any idea, I'd greatly appreciate as I'm in trouble.

Just a thought...
If your report's datasource was an Oracle stored procedure, you could call a function to set the role from that SP
You would be in the same Oracle session from Report --> SP --> Function, so the role would be retained

We are curretly looking at tools available to do impact analysis in Oracle Forms and Reports. This is for the maintainance of a large Oracle application developed using forms and reports 10g. We use Oracle Designer but only to maintain the db structure and not for forms and reports generation. Our intension is to find out the impact of db model changes, stored procedure changes in Oracle Forms and Reports. Please suggest any tools that are currently used for this purpose.
I remember manually maintaining the CRUD matrix for Oracle Forms and Reports for maintainance purpose. CRUD matrix will have the list of all the tables which are affected by the module. But this is a manual activity and hence the responsibility is with the dev team to keep the document updated. Please suggest if there is any alternative to this way which can be more effecient and less error prone...
I also wonder how these are done in Oracle ERP? how the apps team in oracle is maintaining the forms and reports?

Quest (the makers of TOAD) have a tool called SQL Impact which gathers data from forms, reports, triggers, packages etc.
FormsMate is a simple, cheap alternative for comparing or searching in forms.

Alternatively, you can export forms to xml (with iff2xml90.bat) and reports to jsp (with rwconverter) and simply grep those and your sql scripts. There are grep tools for windows if you need.

If you're on 11.1.1.x (for example 11.1.1.5 or 11.1.1.4), please refer to http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24269_01/doc.11120/e23975/upgrade_from_r1.htm for upgrade procedure.

How to set commandtimeout for oracle client

Hi ,
does anybody have an idea how to set the command timeout for ODP or MS managed oracle client for oracle.
This property does not seem to be supported . Although there is property exposed for command time out it does not work for odp and for MS oracleclient it is not present at all. Could anyone provide a workaround for it.

Hi I need help in creating role for DEVELOPERS and HCM GUYS in ERP DEV. sys

I am working as a Support Security Consultant. Now I have assigned to another implemenation Project.
My client asks to create 2 roles in DEV. system the requirement is:
1) He asks to create a role for develpoers in dev system fro devepment activities ( report creation, screen creation..etc..) and these people don't modify the HR related tables
2) He asks to create role for HCM guys in development system to work on HCM Configuration and to work on HCM areas but these people should not involve into develpometn activites
My questions is what are the tcodes we have to maintain in the roles to reach his requirement.
I asked the same thing to my Client he doesn' t provide any information
Please anyone help me on this

Set font for Oracle

Hi all.
Can somebody help me?
I'm using:
Linux redhat 9 and Oracle for linux: 8.0.5.
I use a program run on window and insert data into oracle, the font of data show on oracle is true. but when I run a client on linux, also insert data into oracle, but font is failed.
I exported: NLS_LANG and ORA_NLS33 in .bash_profile file but nothing change.
How can i config font for oracle client?

Existing usage tracking can be used to identify bottlenecks and improve performance as well as show who has accessed what. Still, at present time, it's not possible to have developer's tracking. OBIEE execute stored procedure to load tables before running report

I want to execute a stored procedure to load database tables before running a report in OBIEE .
I need to pass 2 parameters to the stored procedure which loads into tables.
In the Connection Pool --> Connection Script Tab --> Execute before query, I wrote the below query using the repository variables VAR1 & VAR2 to execute the

Do we require OC4J started before running reports

I noticed that starting and stopping OC4J path in Developer Forms and Reports is the same.
For Forms I have to start the OC4J before running forms.
Is that a requirement even for reports or it't not necessary. The reason I was curious is, because, if reports does not need it, then why it appears even in the reports developer --> sub menu

Hello,
The Reports Builder uses its own "in-process reports server". It is configured by rwbuilder.conf.
So, if you execute the reports from the Reports Builder, you don't need to start the OC4J.
But if you want use the "Reports Servlet", it will be necessary to start it.
