Need to Call VB DLL from Oracle forms 6i.  Please help.

Dear Friends,
I am having a DLL which is created in VB. DLL having one function, that function having some IN parameters and it will return Char or Number.
Please tell me how to call, send IN Parameter and Get out value.
Advance Thanks.
Best Regards,
S.Mariappan.

I am using ORA_FFI to register the library sucessfully, but getting error "PDE-DFF004 Can't find function clstest.ShowPopup in library C:\temp\testdll.dll", when register the function.
Has anyone successfully call a VB DLL using ORA_FFI.
Thanks.
-- Register the library
dll_handle := ora_ffi.load_library('C:\temp\','testdll.dll');
-- Register the function and parameters
test_handle := ora_ffi.register_function(dll_handle, 'clstest.ShowPopup', ora_ffi.C_STD);
ora_ffi.register_return(test_handle, ora_ffi.C_INT);

    hi
    try something like this.
    DECLARE

    - To make the above Form generic so that you can run any Crystal report from it, then create

  • Insert / Update from Oracle Forms -- URGENT Please thanks

    Hello All,
    I need to create form which can be use for two purposes. i.e insert and update
    I have one table called emp which has 50 columns.
    Only four columns has not null constraint.
    I need to insert values in only these columns.
    From SQLPLUS it can be cone as below:
    insert ito emp values ('333','2222','007','AA','01-JAN-2007','','','','','','','','','',........);
    After that I need to update one of the coulmn with the value as
    update emp
    set zipcode = 'Y'
    where empt# = 007;
    How could I achive this from Oracle form.
    Any help will be appricated.
    D

    Why handle updates in the On-Update trigger? Oracle Forms already handles this for you. You update a data value in a field and click on the SAVE button (assuming you have a Save button) and the Oracle Forms handles the Update. The On-Update trigger is provided so you can perform processing in addition to the default UPDATE.

  • Calling web service from oracle forms 10g

    Problem Description:
    I'm following the steps as per the doc:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/10gr2/howto/webservicefromforms/ws_10_1_3_from_forms.html
    to create a java stub to call external web service and then use java importer in oracle forms to call this web service from oracle forms.
    WSDL for external web service used is http://gend:83/DesignService.svc?wsdl
    The service was developed by us.
    Calling the web service using JDeveloper works fine but when I complie in Oracle Forms it returns wrong number of types of arguments in call SENDHELLO.
    The code from oracle form to call web service is as below:
    DECLARE
    jo ora_java.jobject;
    xo ora_java.jobject;
    rv varchar2(2000);
    ex ora_java.jobject;
    str varchar2(100);

    WHEN ORA_JAVA.EXCEPTION_THROWN then
    ex := ORA_JAVA.LAST_EXCEPTION;
    message(Exception_.toString(ex));
    END;
    Any help/ideas on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    My primary skill is PL/SQL but the only information I found on Oracle's site to call a web service from a 10g Form was creating a jar file and importing the java class. Since I don't want to ask our corporate IT to make changes on the UNIX box for the jar files I went a different route.
    I use UTL_HTTP.BEGIN_REQUEST to call a URL then load I load the data to a table as a CLOB since we have more than 4000 characters. Now I need to parse the XML and load it into a form. I have never done this so if there is a helpful site please let me know. I have looked at several sites but none do what I want.

  • How to call pdf files from oracle forms

    I have a pdf file in the server , I need to call this and open when a button is pressed in the oracle forms.
    Please let me know how to do this.
    Thanks,
    Previn

    Frank,
    I have oracle applications and I want to open a pdf file located in the server from a button in oracle applications.
    Previn,
    you don't mention the Forms release you are running.
    If you are running Forms on the web, you can use
    web.show_document() to load files from the Web if
    they are accessible via HTTP.

    Yes, it is the message line - so basically this call fails => rv:= CurrencyConvertorStub.ConversionRate(jo,'CAD','USD'); and control goes in the exception block
    WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR then
    message('Unable to call out to Java, ' ||ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR);
    Below is the code from java stub that was generated using JDeveloper by using web services stub/skeleton and associating the WSDL

    requestData.add(new Object[] {"ToCurrency", ToCurrency});
    requestBodyEntries.addElement(toElement(wrappingName, targetNamespace, requestData));
    requestBody.setBodyEntries(requestBodyEntries);
    requestEnv.setBody(requestBody);

  • Calling Crystal Reports from Oracle Forms 10G

    Hi everyone,
    I am trying to call a crystal report from Oracle Forms 10G.
    I have a button on my Form which when clicked calls a Crystal Report which the uaser then wants to save as a PDf file.
    Can someone please send me the code to do this and also the exact steps that are to be followed.
    Thanks
    Fm.

    Hi Andreas,
    I am trying to call the crystal report from an Oracle Form using a URL. No batch file is being used here.
    I am looking for a peice of code similar to run_product or run_report built in in Oracle which calls an Oracle report from an Oracle Form.
    Also I dont want to display the report on a screen or a window in Oracle Forms. I would like it to run just as we run an Oracle Report from an Oracle Form.
    Is that possible ? If yes please let me know the steps to do this.
    Thanks

  • Calling Sql*Loader from oracle Form builder

    How do i call sql* loader from my forms to import the external data in different formats into my existing database?
    Specify the flexibility of sql* loader to import external data from .txt files or .xls files.
    Would be thankful if certain examples are given along with the answer.

    Hi,
    1. First you have to create seperate ctl (Control files) which maps to different file formats
    2. Using Oracle Forms,
    2a) You can use the 'HOST' command to execute the command line ie. In this case executing
    SQL*Loader script
    2b) You also have the feature in ORACLE forms to read text files and load the data into
    ORACLE db.
    This can be achieved by using TEXT_IO package which comes with ORACLE Forms.
    Hope this helps

  • Exception when calling web service from Oracle forms 10g

    Hi All,
    I am trying to integrate Oracle Forms 10g(V 10.1.2.0.2.) with Web Services.
    There is a java class named 'authenticate' which is generated using Oracle JDeveloper.
    This class is included in the forms application by using "Import Java Class" feature.
    Forms built the following funtion based on that class:
    -- Method: authenticate (Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/String;
    FUNCTION authenticate(
    obj ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a0 VARCHAR2,
    a1 VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 IS
    BEGIN
    args := JNI.CREATE_ARG_LIST(2);
    JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a0);
    JNI.ADD_STRING_ARG(args, a1);
    message('here1');
    RETURN JNI.CALL_STRING_METHOD(FALSE, obj, 'mypackage/AuthenticatorWebServiceServiceStub',
    'authenticate', '(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;)Ljava/lang/String;', args);
    message('here2');
    END;
    However when the above code is invoked it shows the message 'here1' on the form and then throws the following exception: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.ClassCastException
    Please suggest me what's wrong with the code. I appreciate your time and help.
