Need to host weblogic server as a windows service

Hi,
I need to host weblogic server as a windows service, Along with the log file in which I can log the System.out.println statements.
I am having weblogic server 10.3.4
Thanks in advance
Harshal

Hi Harsgal,
You can use the Windows Service configuration script mentioned in the following link:
http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?page_id=2594#comment-3454
Ans as you mentioned that you want to see the System.out.println statements also in the server.log then in that case please add the JAVA_OPTION in the same script mentioned in the above link as *"-Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true"*
Example:
echo off
SETLOCAL
set DOMAIN_NAME= Test_Domain
set USERDOMAIN_HOME= C:\BEA103\user_projects\domains\Test_Domain
set SERVER_NAME=ManagedServer1
set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
set WL_HOME=C:\bea103\wlserver_10.3
set ADMIN_URL=http://AdminServerHostname:7001
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m  -Dweblogic.log.RedirectStdoutToServerLogEnabled=true
call "%WL_HOME%\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
Topic: Managed Server As Windows Service
http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=680
Also if you want to create a Separate STDOUT and STDERR file to collect your System.out.println Statements then please add the following MEM_ARGS as well inside your script:
JAVA_OPTIONS=-Dweblogic.Stdout=D:\bea_home\wlserver_10.0.2\user_projects\domains\syncro_domain\ASstdout.txt  -Dweblogic.Stderr=D:\bea_home\wlserver_10.0.2\user_projects\domains\syncro_domain\ASstderr.txtThanks

  • WebLogic Server 6.0sp2 Windows Service Failures

I am trying to run WebLogic (with SSL) as a service instead of a task. The installNTService
cmd script runs ok but when the service is started it fails without any error
messages. The service runs for about 5 seconds. I cannot find any error messages
in the log. Any ideas of where to start looking?
    Thanks,
    Deb

It looks like you are mixing SP1 and SP4 components in the server classpath.
Leaving aside the issue of supporting WL 6.1 ( nearly 10 years old! ), you should look at the classpath which will be listed in the server's log file when it starts up.
If this error has just recently started, has there been a modification to the startup scripts, or has there been a new patch installed?

  • Conver weblogic Admin server to a windows service

I used the following scripts to conver weblogic Admin server to a windows service :
    SETLOCAL
    set DOMAIN_NAME=Sayesaman
    set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\jdev11.1.1.6\user_projects\domains\Sayesaman
    set SERVER_NAME=Sayesaman
    set WL_HOME=C:\jdev11.1.1.6\wlserver_10.3
    set WLS_USER=weblogic
    set WLS_PW=weblogic110
    set PRODUCTION_MODE=false
    set MEM_ARGS=-Xms512m –Xmx512m
    call "C:\jdev11.1.1.6\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
    ENDLOCAL
after running these scripts the windows service created successfully and running properly .
but the state of all web application is failed and even I can't deploy any web application and I get the following error :
    Class Not Found : oracle.dms.wls.DMSServletFilterr
Please help me to conver weblogic Admin server to a windows service correctly .

Request you to share the entire stack of error.
Meanwhile,I would recommend that you deleet the existing service created and re-create the service by following the below steps:-
    1. Create a text file
    %MIDDLEWARE_HOME%\user_projects\domains\servers\AdminServer\security\boot.properties
    Add the following lines
    username=weblogic
    password=
    Important to Note:
    a. If this step is not performed you will see the following generic error when the Admin Server is started in " background mode " via an MS Windows Service.
BEA-090403 Authentication for user weblogic denied
This error occurs because, by default, startup of Admin Server interactively prompts for the weblogic username and password. If the password is not supplied the error is thrown.
    b. As soon as you start the Admin Server the username and password values in this file will be encrypted. Be sure to stop / start the Admin Server as soon as possible to ensure the credentials are not exposed for longer than necessary.
    2. Create a command script called installAdmServer_Service.cmd which has lines like
    SETLOCAL
    set DOMAIN_NAME=ClassicDomain
    set USERDOMAIN_HOME=C:\middleware\FMW11g\user_projects\domains\ClassicDomain
    set SERVER_NAME=AdminServer
    set PRODUCTION_MODE=true
    cd %USERDOMAIN_HOME%
    call %USERDOMAIN_HOME%\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd
    call "C:\middleware\FMW11g\wlserver_10.3\server\bin\installSvc.cmd"
    ENDLOCAL
    3. For troubleshooting / debugging purposes it is helpful to redirect standard out and error to a text file. Although most information is captured in the AdminServer server log files, you will not see all standard out and error when the server is started via a MS Windows Service (unlike when you start an AdminServer from the command prompt using startWebLogic.cmd). To redirect standard out to a text file, backup and edit installSvc.cmd and change the line at the bottom of the file so it include the -log parameter e.g
    "%WL_HOME%\server\bin\beasvc" -install
    -svcname:"%DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%"
    -javahome:"%JAVA_HOME%" -execdir:"%USERDOMAIN_HOME%"
    -extrapath:"%WL_HOME%\server\bin" -password:"%WLS_PW%"
    -cmdline:%CMDLINE%
    -log:"C:\Middleware\FMW11g\user_projects\domains\ClassicDomain\%SERVER_NAME%-stdout.txt"
    4. Now run "installAdmServer_Service.cmd". The Service should be installed, it will have a name like ""beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%" e.g
    beasvc ClassicDomain_AdminServer
The Service "Startup Type" will be 'Automatic'. Just like any other MS Windows Service you can change the 'Startup Type' to 'Manual'.
Start the Service. The Service will come back fairly quickly to say it is started. The actual time taken for AdminServer to start and reach a state of 'RUNNING' will be longer - perhaps two or three minutes. The state of the server can be monitored by reviewing the stdout txt file.
    Notes:
An alternative to the boot.properties approach to specifying the Admin Server weblogic username / password is to add the following environment variables to your wrapper cmd script - installAdmServer_Service.cmd
    set WLS_USER=weblogic
    set WLS_PW=manager11g
The beasvc utility encrypts the login credentials and stores them in the Windows registry.
This is one of two possible methods for avoiding the username/password prompt when a server instance starts. The disadvantage to this method is that changing the username or password for the server instance requires you to delete the Windows service and set up a new one with the new username and password. Instead of this method, you can use a boot identity file. With a boot identity file, you can change the login credentials without needing to modify the Windows service.
Create a MS Windows Service for a Managed Server e.g WLS_FORMS
    Important to Note:
    1. The ADMIN_URL value should reference the AdminServer hostname and listen port.
    2. The SERVER_NAME value is case sensitive. For example, if you are creating a MS Windows service for a different managed server such as 'wls_ods1' then the value needs to match the case of the server name otherwise the startup of the server via the MS Windows service will fail.
    3. Be careful that there are no trailing spaces after each line in the command file - trailing spaces will cause the managed server to fail at startup. For example a trailing space in the ADMIN_URL value will result in the error
<Error> <EmbeddedLDAP> <BEA-171524> <Cannot determine the Listen address for the Admin server
    3. Now run "installAdmServer_Service.cmd". The Service should be installed, it will have a name like ""beasvc %DOMAIN_NAME%_%SERVER_NAME%" e.g
    beasvc ClassicDomain_AdmServer
The Service "Startup Type" will be 'Automatic'. Just like any other MS Windows Service you can change the 'Startup Type' to 'Manual'.
Start the Service. The Service will come back fairly quickly to say it is started. The actual time taken for the managed server to start and reach a state of 'RUNNING' will be longer - perhaps two or three minutes. The state of the server can be monitored by reviewing the stdout txt file.
    Hope this helps!

    Hi,
If you see your logs, you server has actually started in "RUNNING" mode. Its only throwing lot of "ClassNotFoundException" because I guess they classes are not available in classpaths. If you know the "jar" which contains which are being complained, copy the jar files to "DOMAIN_HOME/lib" which is simple way to add jars to classpath.

  • Running a 9.2 managed server as a windows service

Is it possible to run a WebLogic 9.2 managed server as a windows service? I was able to get the AdminServer to run as a service, but not my managed server. I am not using Node Manager. Should I be? Please help...

Yes. I re-installed and this time I installed node manager and it runs as a windows service. I then was able to get my AdminServer to also run as a windows service, using a script I found in the BEA forum. I start up my managed server now through the Admin Console and it runs ok. Only problem now is that the managed server is not running as a windows service, so that if the machine re-boots I have to manually go in and re-start the managed server again. Do you know how to make the managed server start up automatically too?

  • Creatting RFC  Server as a windows service

    Hi,
How to create RFC server as a windows service using sap.net connector. Please send me the sample code.

hi, I don't know which problem do you meet.
As I know, there is a console RFC server sample in the SAP dotnet connector install directory, you can have a reference.
And I thinks as a dotnet developer, it is not a problem to convert a console application to a windows service.
Especially using VS.net, it is single to develop a windows service. You can search a sample in MSDN.
    Hope it is useful

  • 64bit weblogic server installation on windows

    Hi,
We are trying to install 64bit Oracle weblogic Server 10.3.2 on windows 2007 Server. As per the documentation, The installation requires 64bit java installation and then execute the wl_1032_server.jar file.
We installed weblogic Server successfully and did not find any errors while installing the weblogic server. We created one Managed Server with the default options. We are able to start the Admin Server with out any problems.
But we are unable to start the managed weblogic server and we are getting the following error message while starting the managed webserver.
I have also tried with setting the following memory args also. But I am getting the same error in the managedserver log files.

    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

    Thanks,
You are right and I've found a documentation below. Did you checked your Environment Variables or try to use full path of 64 bit Java installation?
How do I select between 32 and 64-bit operation? What's the default? The options -d32 and -d64 have been added to the Java launcher to specify whether the program is to be run in a 32 or 64-bit environment. On Solaris these correspond to the ILP32 and LP64 data models, respectively. Since Solaris has both a 32 and 64-bit J2SE implementation contained within the same installation of Java, you can specify either version. If neither -d32 nor -d64 is specified, the default is to run in a 32-bit environment.
Other Java commands (javac, javadoc, etc.) will rarely need to be executed in a 64-bit environment. However, the -d32/-d64 options may be passed to these commands and then on to the Java launcher using the established -J prefix option (eg: -J-d64).
All other platforms (Windows and Linux) contain separate 32 and 64-bit installation packages. If both packages are installed on a system, you select one or the other by adding the appropriate "bin" directory to your path. For consistency, the Java implementations on Linux accept the -d64 option.

    Kadir

  • Need help regarding Weblogic Server Hang up

We are facing a problem at the client’s place on the production environment.
The weblogic server is hanging up once every week. The application is running fine till then, but once the server is hung we need to restart the weblogic again.
Also after observing the behavior of the memory usage of the application in the weblogic admin console we came to know that the memory usage is gradually increasing day by day. We are not sure why this is happening.
We tested the application to check for any memory leaks using JProbe. We couldn’t find any memory leaks in the application. We even tested it onsite but couldn’t find any memory leaks.
I need some help on this issue as this is happening on the production environment and needs to be resolved as soon as possible.
The configuration we are having on the production environment is:
    bea:8.1
    JDK:1.41_02

    1. You say its a hang, get multiple threadumps and see whats happening at the time of hang. this will give you a clue into the work thats going on and thats stuck.
    2. are you seeing outofmemoryexception? If yes only then you will need to suspect the memory leak. First thing in such situation is try to increase the heap by about 1/3rd more (this is just a guestimate not a recommended practice) , that can potentially buy you time to analyze the problem.
    3. you should also check if weblogic objects are leaking , check the jprobe snapshots if you have any to see if you find any weblogic object that are not getting garbage collected and growing continuously. there have been a few memory leak fixes since 8.1 release. if you find something contact support@bea and find out if any existing fix will help.

    Dear all,

    C:\Users\Administrator>java -version
    java version "1.4.2_06"

    when i enter the command

it try to open the installation but give a fatal error like below
A fatal error occured, this application will terminate.
    any idea?

    Hi,
i did the same as you said, i.e i add this path to the PATH variable C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0
add the bin directory to this path, so you should have C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.7.0\bintest it in the command prompt with java -version and it should prompt you java 1.7
also be sure the generic jar is not corrupted.
and one more thing you should use this command to install with generic jar:
    java -jar wls1211_generic.jar

  • Need help installing sql server 2012 on windows server 2012 core

    Hi Guys
I am having trouble installing sql server 2012 on windows server 2012 core. I am doing this on VM and my VM is not connected to internet.
This setup is part of preparing lab for sql serve exam 70-462. I would really appreciate your help.
I am including the links to the log files that were generated after installation. There are following 2 files
    Component Update and
    Detail_Global_Rules
    Thanks

    Hi
    iworkonline,
Regarding to your original question, you can work around it according to Prashanth’s post or unclick the “Include SQL Server Product Updates" checkbox when installing SQL Server on your VM.
Regarding to your second question, I make a test using TechNet Virtual Lab and everything works as expected . Below are my steps.
    1. Choose Web client after laughing the Lab.
    2. Choose SQLONE machine and “OPEN CHARMS” as follows, then search SQL Server Management Studio, use it to connect to the default instance (which has been installed in the lab).
From your description, you get error message “Device not ready”. Could you please post more details? Are you installing SQL Server 2012 on the TechNet Virtual Lab?

    Hi
I forgot to add in my prevoius msg that I am able to start the weblogic
    server
from the cmd propt with out any error. The problem is only when I try
    to start
it as a windows service .
    Thanks

    Have you resolved this yet?
I had the same problem, and read that if I add the
"-password <password>" argument to the "beasvc.exe" command
in the "intallNtService.cmd" script, the problem was resolved.
To do this, you will have to use the "uninstallNtServer.cmd"
script to uninstall the service, edit the install script to
add the "-password <password>" argument to the beasvc.exe
command, then run the "installNtService.cmd" script to install
    the service.
    For me, it now works.
    Good luck.
