Needed Instruction to deploy JSP app. to Oracle 8i?

I need the instruction to deploy a JSP BC4J application
developed by JDev9i to Oracle 8i. Web server is Oracle Http
server powered by Apache.

Hi,
The detailed steps are provided in Publishing Reports:
http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B14048_01/pbr_run.htm#sthref1410
But since you have already gone through the manual, here are the steps in brief:
Option 1: Suppose yo alerady have a J2EE EAR or WAR file that contains the rest of your JSPs, servlets, Java classes, EJBs, etc. In this case you need to add the reports JSP to your EAR / WAR. You can do this using any Java IDE like Oracle JDeveloper or Sun Studio. Once you have added the JSP to the EAR / WAR, you need to deploy it the EAR / WAR on the application server on the OC4J_BI_Forms instance. You can do this using Oracle enterprise manager browser-based console.
Option 2: Suppose do not have an application deployed. In other words, you simply want to deploy the reports JSP. There are 2 sub-options here:
Sub-option A: Create a new EAR / WAR file containing the reports JSP. You can again do this using any Java IDE like JDeveloper. The steps for creating a new JSP application are given in Publishing Reports 10.1.2:
Section 13.3.3.1 Creating a New J2EE Application
Sub-option B: You do not want to create a new EAR / WAR. This method is not recommended for production deployment, and is usually used only for testing. If you want to follow this method, simply copy the JSP file in the following directory:
OracleAS_Home\j2ee\OC34J_BI_Forms\applications\<appname>\<web-module>
This assumes that you have OC4J_BI_Forms instance on your OracleAS (it comes by default), and that you have deployed at least one application on this instance. This deployed application's name is <appname> above.
Let me know if you have more Qs.
Navneet.

  • How to deploy Jdev11g App on Oracle AS10g

hi can any one tell me the deployment steps for deploying Jdev11g Applications on Oracle Application Server 10g such as Adf Rich Client Appliacations

    Naveenapps,
As documented in the compatibility notes - you cannot do this.
ADF Faces Rich client requires JSF 1.2, which is not supported by OAS 10g.
An update: the compatibilty notes are [url http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/11/as_supportmatrix.html]here

  • Data sources in deploying web app. to Oracle Application Server

I am using simple web application - JSP with BC4J (JDeveloper 9.0.5.1).
I want to configure my application to use Data Source instead of JDeveloper connection and deploy it to production database, so DB administrator will take care of username and password.
First, I create a new application module configuration that uses a data source instead of a JDeveloper connection with BC config. name TestAppModuleWithDS.
Then I modify my application client (DataBindings.cpx) to use the new configuration (TestAppModuleWithDS).
After that I create deployment profile and deploy to application server connection and try to test it on standalone server, and on production server together with my DBA.
But the application is not running, always displaying error messages...
Please what is the procedure and how to set Config of ApplModule.
It is working properly with embeded server, but on standalone server there is an error:

iAS 1.0.x is StoneAge Technology (TM).
Using the E-Business Suite you should look into the newer versions of the Application Server. I believe that 10.1.2.x supports the EBS, otherwise 9.04 should do the trick. Webservice support is much better in the newer versions. 1.0.x is from around 2000/2001 so the Webservice technology back than was "different" :-)

  • CLASSPATH problem, deploying JSP app without right to modify classpath...

I want to deploy a JSP web app to apache server with JRun for running JSP, but I don't have the permission to copy the required library files to the classpath, nor modify the classpath to append my application's path. Is there any way to workaround? Thank you

Well, thanks for the tip. The answer is yes and no. Yes, the jar is in my classpath, but no the lib directory containing the jar is not included in the dist directory when I clean and build the project. This only happens when I include either the JavaHelp jars or just the jh.jar (which should be all I need) in the classpath. When I read the manifest file, it's clearly looking for /lib/jh.jar, but the directory does not get created on build (whereas, the lib directory is there if the JH jars are not included).
Makes no sense to me. Any idea as to what's happening here? The help system works great in the IDE.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Deploy Java apps using Oracle Apps Server 9i

    Hi Gurus,
Is it possible to deploy custom Java application using the bundle E Business Suite Apps Server?
If yes, can you provide me a reference or a step by step guide that will help me do so.
    Many thanks

Portal 10.1.2 is not yet JSR-168 compliant. You will not be able to deploy a portlet written according to the JSR-168 standard.
Check http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/portal/standards.html , it contains a link to a developer's preview of the JSR-168 compliant container.

To add on, when using the Console to deploy WebCenter Portal application, it does not offer a means to change ADF connections, including the essential MDS connection. To use the Console to deploy a WebCenter application, the MDS connection in the EAR file must be configured to the target deployment repository.
As such, in most case we should use the Fusion Middleware Control (em console) to deploy

  • I need help for deploy an EJB to Oracle 8i

I want to deploy an EJB on Oracle8i, but my JDeveloper 3.2
doesn't have the option "Enterprise Java Bean to Oracle8i", it
has only the option "CORBA to Oracle8i" in the deploy wizard. Is
    this correct?
JDeveloper 3.1 has the option "Enterprise Java Bean to Oracle8i"
in the deploy wizard. why doesn't Jdeveloper appear this option?
I need help or information about this.
    thank you.

To copy the data of one account to another one, you can use the Shared folder, stored in /Users. You have to log in this user in order to copy the files to the folder, and then, log in the new user and copy the files to the folders where you want to store your files. Another option is to use an external drive.
To start by default with one account, open System Preferences > Login Options, and choose your old account next to "Automatic login"

  • URGENT! Need help to portalize a Strut JSP App for Portal!

    Hi,
I have create a little application using Strut ADF. This application only have one page. Can someone tell me how to portalize this in order to deployed it in Portal. I have create my DataSource in OEM and the only thing left is to portalize this jsp.
I have read the "How to create a Struts Portlet" but I don't understand it.
Please help me deployed this app to Portal. Is there any tutorial about this?
    Thank you!

    try this article
    http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDK/articles/pdkstruts/portletize-your-app.html
You will also need to download the relevant tag library for the pdk-struts extensions.
You can also download the java portlet wizard as an add-in for jdeveloper. This makes the creation of the files (for example provider.xml) required by portal easier.

  • Deploying BC4J JSP app to 9iAS (via EJB?)

Hello. Please help a newbie (new to Java, JDev, JSP, and 9iAS R2).
I've just built my first BC4J JSP app in JDev, and I've even setup a remote DCM connection to my 9iAS R2 server.
    1. JDev release notes say that BC4J deployment from JDev to 9iAS R2 is not supported. Confusing. What is the best way to deploy this app?
    2. I've created an EJB .ear file in JDev 9.0.3 and deployed it using the EM from OC4J_home. It seemed to deploy okay, but I don't know how to find it via an http path (I know, sounds dumb). Do I need to include a port number? Do I still point to my JSP page, or do I point to a servlet? What would a sample path look like?
    3. Can you recommend a good book, something like "Oracle 9iAS and JSP Apps for Dummies?"
    Thanks in advance.
    -Tony.

Hello - I've just asked one of the BC4J team to take a look at your questions, so please keep a lookout for a response.
I am not super familiar with BC4J, but since it's deployed as a J2EE application it should work in the following way:
When you deploy an EAR file which contains a Web application module, you have to tell the server what URL pattern it should use to know when to send the request to the Web application. The deployment screens in OEM prompt you to enter these URLs when the deployment is done.
Once the deployment is complete (and assuming that you've not modified the HTTP server port) you should then be able to access the application using
    http://<server-host>:7777/<url>
where <url> is the pattern you entered for the Web application during the deployment process.
    cheers

  • Registering JSP forms in oracle apps

    Hi,
Can anyone suggest me how to register JSP forms in oracle apps 11i (11.5.9 version), on Windows NT
    Regards

    Hi,
My question is, how do I run the form in the Oracle Apps? After registering it.You already have the steps in your post, just add the form to the menu and attach it to the responsibility.
My question is, how do I know if a form has a function that needs to be registered?Sorry, I cannot be of much help here, but you may check the Developer Guide and see if it helps.

  • Calling custom OAF page from JSP page in Oracle apps

    Hi,
I am working on a requirement to call a Custom OAF page from a JSP page in Oracle apps 11.5.10.
I have registered the OAF page and defined a function for it. When we call this OAF page from JSP (without parameter), the page opens up
    URL: http://APPSURL:8020/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=27221&resp_id=50312&resp_appl_id=515&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US
but as soon as I am trying to pass a parameter sr_id in the URL:
    http://APPSURL:8020/OA_HTML/RF.jsp?function_id=27221&resp_id=50312&resp_appl_id=515&security_group_id=0&lang_code=US&sr_id=106
    we are getting following error:
You are trying to access a page that is no longer active.
    - The referring page may have come from a previous session. Please select Home to proceed.
Please let me know if someone has faced the same problem...
    Thanks!!!

    Hi,
Before calling a OAF page..from external JSP page...u need to set certain mandatory parameter like transaction Id and context.

i have a jsp app sitting in jdeveloper 9.0.3
can i deploy this jsp app as portlet and see it from
    my portal?
    srini

    Hi Benjamin.
Can u explain more detail about the deployment..
I also use JDev and want to do like you do (that is deploy to 9iAS using JDev.
I tried to create new connection via Remote DCM..
    but it gave me error.
I also read & tried the article that u suggested..
    but still failed..
    So, my questions are:
1)In step one, where in EM should i install Oc4jDcmServlet.ear? in OC4J_Portal(the same place i deploy jpdk)?
"Install the DCM Servlet, Oc4jDcmServlet.ear, to a running Oracle Enterprise Manager instance. This servlet is required to run in the same OC4J instance (same JVM) as the Enterprise Manager servlet. The DCM Servlet is located in:
    <jdev_install>/dcm/lib/Oc4jDcmServlet.ear "
2)I download JDev into my drive C.
    and i did found /dcm/lib/Oc4jDcmServlet.ear
I not sure what to type..and where should i run the command..
In the article,it run from c:\winnt\system32\cmd.exe.
But when i ty to run it, it gave me error
"Exception in thread "main" java.util.zip.ZipException: The system cannot find th
    e path specified

    at java.util.zip.ZipFile.<init>(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(Unknown Source)
    at java.util.jar.JarFile.<init>(Unknown Source)"
should i run the command in the server?Where?
    What command should i type?
    Java -jar ${ORACLE_HOME}/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://${EM_OC4J_HOST}:${EM_OC4J_PORT} ${IAS_ADMIN_USER} ${IAS_ADMIN_PASS} -deploy -file Oc4jDcmServlet.ear -deploymentName Oc4jDcmServlet "
    Thanks..
