Nested tables won't allign with primary table

Hello all. It looks like I’m faced with another
table-related obstacle. While I was creating one of my inner pages,
I’ve utilized nested tables to create a column on the left
hand side of the page that will hold my secondary menu, while the
other column will hold a flash element and page content.
Although I’ve inserted all nested tables with
“0” cell spacing and “0” cell padding, and
the visual aids seem to suggest that the values of the nested table
are identical with the primary table that holds them, the nested
table that will hold the movie and page content isn’t flush
with the table above. It seems to be off only by 1-2 pixels or so,
but since there will be an image right underneath the menu this is
quite obvious.
I have attached the code for your information (line 165,
166).
Thank you for your time and suggestions. I really appreciate
it.

Change this:
<table width="572" border="0" cellspacing="0"
cellpadding="0">
<tr>
<td height="200" valign="top"><img
src="img/place_second.jpg" width="572"
height="200"></td>
</tr>
To this:
<table width="572" border="0" cellspacing="0"
cellpadding="0"
align="right">
<tr>
<td height="200" valign="top"><img
src="img/place_second.jpg" width="572"
height="200"></td>

  • Primary Key in nested tables

    Let's assume I have a table containing only one column with users. Behind this table I have a nested table containing different lists. Thus, one database row consists of one user and different list names. However, every user should be only allowed to use unique list names, e.g. the listname "list 1" should be only one time usable for one user. But also every other user should be able to use this name, so the restriction of the key should refer to every row, NOT to the whole nested table.
    If I set listname unique, this name can only be used one time for ALL users, not just for ONE. I thought nested tables would manage such problems - what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks again. I tried your solution and it worked. However, I have to admit that the whole task is a little more complicated and so I'll just post the SQL-Statement:
    CREATE TABLE JMEDOCS.KARTEIVERWALTUNG (
         KVUSERID VARCHAR(30) NOT NULL,
         KVKOSTSTELLE JMEDOCS.KARTEILISTE_NT,
         CONSTRAINT KVUSERID_BENUTZER FOREIGN KEY(KVUSERID)
         REFERENCES JMEDOCS.BENUTZER(USERID))
         NESTED TABLE KVKOSTSTELLE STORE AS
    KARTEILISTE_NT_TAB
         (NESTED TABLE KLNEUELISTE STORE AS
    KATLISTNRNEU_NT_TAB,
         NESTED TABLE K_LISTEN STORE AS KATLISTEN_NT_TAB
         (NESTED TABLE KLKATLISTNR STORE AS
    KATLISTNRALT_NT_TAB));
    If I would like to put the following piece of code somewhere in this statement - where do I have to put it?
    ((primary key (nested_table_id, klkostnr)) organization index compress)

    Can you explain what do you mean by the following?
    "PL/SQL tables (a.k.a. Index-by tables) cannot be used as the basis for columns and/or attributes"There are three kinds of collections:
    (NTB) Nested Tables
    (VAR) Varrying Arrays
    (IBT) Index-by Tables (the collection formerly known as "PL/SQL tables")
    NTB (and VAR) can be defined as persistent user defined data types, and can be used in table DDL (columns) and other user defined type specifications (attributes).
    SQL> CREATE TYPE my_ntb AS TABLE OF INTEGER;
    SQL> CREATE TABLE my_table ( id INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, ints my_ntb );
    SQL> CREATE TYPE my_object AS OBJECT ( id INTEGER, ints my_ntb );
    /IBT are declared inside stored procedures only and have slightly different syntax from NTB. Only variables in stored procedures can be based on IBT declarations.
    CREATE PROCEDURE my_proc IS
       TYPE my_ibt IS TABLE OF INTEGER INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;  -- now you see why they are called Index-by Tables
       my_ibt_var my_ibt;
    BEGIN
       NULL;
    END;That sums up the significant differences as it relates to how they are declared and where they can be referenced.
    How are they the same?
    NTB and VAR can also be (non-persistently) declared in stored procedures like IBTs.
    Why would you then ever use IBTs?
    IBTs are significantly easier to work with, since you don't have to instantiate or extend them as you do with NTB and VAR, or
    Many other highly valuable PL/SQL programs make use of them, so you have to keep your code integrated/consistent.
    There's a lot more to be said, but I think this answers the question posed by Sri.

  • Do nested tables conflict with ?split-by-page-break:? -getting blank pages

    I have an RTF template with multiple levels of groupingwith sub-totals and pagebreaks at several levels. I'm using nested tables to keep the lowest level group together. The nested table works fine as far as keeping the rows together - if a group doesn't fit on a page, it is pushed to the next page; however, it has created some blank pages in the report. The first time I report the lowest level group details, if they don't fit on one page, I get a blank page followed by the data. Each time the lowest level group changes, this may or may not occur depending on the amount of data.
    If you have come across this before or have some suggestions, I would really appreciate a response. I've been working on this for quite some time and have run out of things to try.
    The template is quite complex and the XML very long, so I won't post. However I can email them to you if you'd like to take a look.
    Thank you for your help,
    Tam

    Thanks for replying.
    Yes, I tried removing the <?split-by-page-break:?> and using MS hard page break (ctrl-enter) and that doesn't work either. My totals moved to a separate page by themselves and I'm still getting the blank pages.
    <?split-by-page-break:?> did exactly what it was supposed to until I added in the nested tables. It's very possible that I did something wrong with my nested tables (only my second XML report). Does anyone have a sample with nested tables that they would be willing to share?

  • Problems with Whitespace using nested tables from eclipse dtp oracle plugin

    Hi,
    sending from eclipse to oracle xe fails if whitespace is used:
    Example1: Nested table in nested table
    adress_table_typ has another nested table in it
    that works
    CREATE TABLE x (
    i INTEGER PRIMARY KEY,
    adressen adress_table_typ
    ) NESTED TABLE adressen STORE AS adressen_nt (NESTED TABLE tels STORE AS tels_nt);
    inserting a newline fails
    CREATE TABLE x (
    i INTEGER PRIMARY KEY,
    adressen adress_table_typ
    ) NESTED TABLE adressen STORE AS adressen_nt
    (NESTED TABLE tels STORE AS tels_nt);
    Example2:
    Two nested tables
    CREATE TABLE x (
    i INT PRIMARY KEY,
    l_table_typ,
    m_table_typ
    ) NESTED TABLE laptops STORE AS laptop_nt NESTED TABLE interessen STORE AS interessen_nt;
    and then an insert
    INSERT INTO x VALUES (123456,
    l_typ(laptop_typ('123', 'netop'),
    laptop_typ('234', 'thinkpad'),
    laptop_typ('345', 'iBook')),
    m_typ('a', 'b', 'c')
    which fails. Note that the INSERT works when copy&pasted to sqlplus. It also works if there is
    just one nested table.
    Am I doing somethig wrong or is this a bug in the eclipse data tools plugin?
    Regards
    - Peter
    PS; It is rather difficult to insert whitespace in that forum editor. Any possibility to have ascii?
    For a "whitespace" question rather important...

    A bit of an update on the original post. I was playing around with the plug-in xml file (e.g. eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.jst.server.generic.oc4j_1.5.100.v20070608\buildfiles\oracle.10.1.3.xml). I changed the following from "deploy" to "redeploy" and it seems to be working once the applicatoin is initial deployed. Of course, I have to change it back to "deploy" if it is the first time the application is being deployed. However; I would still would like to resolve this if there is something out there that fixes this problem. Or if everything points to an enviornment problem, I can continue to play with it.
    <target name="deploy.j2ee.ear" depends="check.skip.ear.deploy" unless="skip.deploy">
    <antcall target="package.module.ear"/>
    <oracle:redeploy

    password="${oc4j.admin.password}"
    file="${server.publish.dir}/${module.name}.ear"

  • Outer join with nested tables

    I am dealing with a nested table (I simplified the case
    for purpose of posting):
    CREATE TABLE boris_main_tab (
    IND_SSN          VARCHAR2(9) PRIMARY KEY,
    children          B_CHILDREN_TBL,
    ) nested table children stored as....
    where B_CHILDREN_TBL is defined like this:
    create or replace type b_children_type as object (
         child_ssn               VARCHAR2(9),
         child_first_name          VARCHAR2(20),
         child_last_name          VARCHAR2(20),
         child_dob               date
    create or replace type b_children_tbl as table of b_children_type;
    if I want to display person's ssn along with his/her children information I do like this:
    SELECT m.ind_ssn, c.child_ssn, c.child_first_name
    FROM boris_main_tab m,
    TABLE(m.children) c
    This is a statement I can find everywhere. But there is a caveat here, they
    forgot to mention. This is really an inner join, so I don't get childless
    people. Can you, guys, help me with the outer join syntax?
    I mean, of course, I found the obvious solution to make this inner join
    into a view and then join it with the boris_main_tab again this time using the
    regular outer join syntax. But it seems to me there has to be something simplier than that.
    But I can't find it. It really hurting me, since I have a few nested table
    columsn and people want to see the records where I need to mention a few of
    them, sort of like
    from boris_main_tab m, TABLE(m.children) c, TABLE(m.spouses) s
    where c.child_last_name <> m.spouse.last_name
    in cases like this the fact that EACH of these joins is inner join really
    hurts the logic.
    Respectfully,
    Boris

    Hi Borris,
    Found the following in the Oracle Documentation under: Oracle8i Application Developer's Guide - Object-Relational Features Release 2 (8.1.6)
    2 Managing Oracle Objects / Using Collections / Collection Unnesting
    URL: http://www.znow.com/sales/oracle/appdev.816/a76976/adobjmng.htm#1002885
    Oracle8i also supports the following syntax to produce outer-join results:
    SELECT d.*, e.* FROM depts d, TABLE(d.emps)(+) e;
    The (+) indicates that the dependent join between DEPTS and D.EMPS should be NULL-augmented. That is, there > will be rows of DEPTS in the output for which D.EMPS is NULL or empty, with NULL values for columns
    corresponding to D.EMPS.

    Hi
    i was using AWM since 9i just because it creates OLAP metadata with a new API called CWM2, and Oracle Enterprise Manager was using a propietary API .
    With AWM 10.1.0.4 building your OLAP metadata is very simple, you can define your Dimensions, cubes, measures and even you can load your data from your source system.
    You can refer to the Oracle® OLAP Application Developer's Guide where you can find more information on this tool.
    And relative to your error i will recommend that you build on a dimension-by-dimension basis and try to validate your OLAP Metadata.

    I hope if anybody can help in this case or I you know any reference about similar cases
    Thanks

  • Please help with multiple insert query into nested table!!!!

    I am having a problem with inserting multiple references to objects into a nested table using the following query:
    INSERT INTO TABLE(SELECT Taken_by FROM courses WHERE course_number= 001)
    (SELECT REF(p) FROM persons p
    WHERE p.enroled_in = 'Computing for Business'
    The database says that p.enroled_in is an invalid identifier. I know why this is. This is because the field enroled_in is part of a subtype of person called student_type and the query above is not accounting for this properly. I would like to know the correct syntax to use so I can insert into the nested table wherever a student is enroled into the 'computing for business' course. My full schema is below:
    CREATE TYPE person_type;
    CREATE TYPE student_type;
    CREATE TYPE staff_type;
    CREATE TYPE course_type;
    CREATE TYPE module_type;
    CREATE TYPE address_type AS OBJECT
    Street VARCHAR2 (30),

    County VARCHAR2 (30),
    Postcode VARCHAR2 (9)
    CREATE TYPE person_type AS OBJECT

    Address address_type,
    DOB     DATE
    ) NOT FINAL;
    CREATE TYPE staff_type UNDER person_type
    Staff_number NUMBER (2,0)
    ) FINAL;
    CREATE TYPE student_type UNDER person_type (
    Student_number NUMBER (2,0),
    Enroled_in VARCHAR2(50),
    MEMBER FUNCTION getAge RETURN NUMBER
    )NOT FINAL;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE BODY student_type AS
    MEMBER FUNCTION getAge RETURN NUMBER AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN Trunc(Months_Between(Sysdate, DOB)/12);
    END getAge;
    END;
    CREATE TYPE module_type AS OBJECT
    Module_number VARCHAR2(6),
    Module_name VARCHAR2(50),
    Credit NUMBER(2,0),
    Taught_in VARCHAR2(50)
    CREATE TYPE students_tab AS TABLE OF REF person_type;
    CREATE TYPE modules_tab AS TABLE OF REF module_type;
    CREATE TYPE course_type AS OBJECT
    Course_number NUMBER (2,0),

    CREATE TABLE courses OF course_type(
    constraint pk_courses primary key (Course_number)
    NESTED TABLE Taken_by STORE AS students_nt,

    By the way I am using oracle 9i and trying to insert into the nested table data from a subtype (i.e student is a subtype of person)

  • How to work with nested tables

    HI Everybody,
    I have a relational table one of whose columns is an object and another column is a collection stored as a nested table. I would like to set up a user interface ADF Rich Client, where I consider the parent table as Master and the nested table as Detail. If I build a READONLY master and detail view with a view link based on the primary key of the parent table, it works fine. However, when I try to generate entities from the views, the detail view object disappears from JDeveloper. Otherwise, when I try to make business components from tables, the nested table is not listed. Do anyone know a solution?

  • How to insert into a table with a nested table which refer to another table

    Hello everybody,
    As the title of this thread might not be very understandable, I'm going to explain it :
    In a context of a library, I have an object table about Book, and an object table about Subscriber.
    In the table Subscriber, I have a nested table modeling the Loan made by the subscriber.
    And finally, this nested table refers to the Book table.
    Here the code concerning the creation of theses tables :
    Book :
    create or replace type TBook as object
    number int,
    title varchar2(50)
    Loan :
    create or replace type TLoan as object
    book ref TBook,
    loaning_date date
    create or replace type NTLoan as table of TLoan;
    Subscriber :
    create or replace type TSubscriber as object
    sub_id int,
    name varchar2(25)
    loans NTLoan
    Now, my problem is how to insert into a table of TSubscriber... I tried this query, without any success...
    insert into OSubscriber values
    *(1, 'LEVEQUE', NTLoan(*
    select TLoan(ref(b), '10/03/85') from OBook b where b.number = 1)
    Of course, there is an occurrence of book in the table OBook with the number attribute 1.
    Oracle returned me this error :
    SQL error : ORA-00936: missing expression
    00936. 00000 - "missing expression"
    Thank you for your help

    1) NUMBER is a reserved word - you can't use it as identifier:

    Or whether a INSERT statement with SELECT clause will do that for youby using this technique, it took 47:08:45 to copy 7252 rows
    and by using a cursor for loop took 49:03:23 to copy 13567 rows
    So there was appox. 40% increase in performance by using pl/sql. I thought it could be even faster using the bulk-bind ing features and nested tables.
    OR i just want to know ....how to correct the block of code that was given in my 1st msg without changing its logic.
