Netca, dbca gives java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

I downloaded and installed Virtualbox with the Developer Days appliance:
OTN Developer Days.ovf OTN_DD_ROOT_1.vmdk OTN_DD_ORACLE_1.vmdk
No problems bringing up the virtual server and 11g, however when I try to run dbca or netca, I get:
oracle@localhost bin]$ netca
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/net/ca/NetCA

Unix version here is:
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.18-194.17.1.0.1.el5 #1 SMP Wed Sep 29 15:40:03 EDT 2010 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
Is this not a full version of 11g or possibly a java config issue?
Has anyone fixed this?
Thanks,
Larry

Well,
I had the same problem...
It seems that a folder $ORACLE_HOME/assistants (and it's subfolders) is missing.
Try to copy that folder from a database installation where netca and dbca are working (I've copied it from a database (same version as the database in virtual machine) which is installed on my computer with Windows 7 operating system on it) to $ORACLE_HOME in virtual machine (/home/oracle/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome2).
It should work :)

Boris

  • Signed Applet  gives "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" message

    I am using a Signed Applet to access resources on the disk and as well as to write on to the disk.
    My Applet class "Applet.class" is bundled along with other required jar files(SignedA.jar , SignedB.jar) into a single jar file "SignedApplet.jar". The external jar files have also been signed using the same key.
    When I run this applet, it gives an error " java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError" for the classes that Applet.class tries to access in the external jar file SignedA.jar
    Please help

    You need to set your classpath correctly. Search the forums for NoClassDefFoundError and you will find hundreds of posts on this topic. Many of them have answers explaining how to set your classpath.

  • Loadjava gives java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : oracle/aurora/sqljdecl/SqljDecl

    Hello!
    This is in continuation of the earlier posting from me. I tried to use loadjava on the JdbcCheckup program which tries to make a default connection using kprb. (I made appropriate modifications like changing main to a method). The command line I used was as follows :
    loadjava -u scott/tiger -oracleresolver -r -force JdbcCheckup.class
    I get the following error:
    internal error : unanticipated exception :
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : oracle/aurora/sqljdecl/SqljDecl
    I have Oracle 8i (8.1.5) and JDK 1.1 installed on the server. I cannot find the class SqljDecl in the Classpath or in any of the (logical) directories. Does this class come inside a particular zip or jar file?
    Please help.

  • Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld when running SQLJ program

    i can compile the program but i can't run it. when i try to run ( java HelloWorld) it gives java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: HelloWorld error message. i have set the classpath, path and oracle_home accordingly to the oracle SQLJ documentation. i'm using win2000 and j2sdk 1.4.0. please help.
    this is my sqlj's code:
    import java.sql.Date;
    import java.sql.SQLException;
    import oracle.sqlj.runtime.Oracle;
    public class HelloWorld
         public static void main(String [] args)
              java.sql.Date current_date;
              try
                   Oracle.connect(
                        "jdbc:oracle:thin:nicole:1521:kwanyee",
                        "y2net",
                        "y90583008"
                   #sql { SELECT sysdate INTO :current_date FROM dual };
                   System.out.println( "Hello" + current_date);
              catch (SQLException e)
                   System.err.println("SQLException " + e);
              finally
                   try
                        Oracle.close();
                   catch (SQLException e)
                        System.err.println("SQLException " + e);
    }

    I am not too sure about sqlj ...if this suggestion doesn't work I can show you the statndard 'java' way to connect to Oracle. But try this, you probably need to add the oracle drivers to your classpath. Look for a file named classes12.zip ...and add that to the classpath settings like this (on my box):
    @SET CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;G:\ORACLE\ORA81\JDBC\LIB\classes12.zip

This appliation works in Tomcat 7.5. It gives error in wls 12.1.3 and  12.1.1 . Please advice on how to debug/ resolve...

    Hello, rajeysh.
    Thank you for your reply, I have tried this method but it did not work, the problem remains the same.
    Please notice that with the reference you've quoted the error is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/sysman/emSDK/common/nls/MessageBundle while mine reports the error java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/help/Help.
    So, if you have any other ideas I would appreciate it.

    create a Jar file from the netbeans and run at the command prompt with following
    i have included all the jar files from the jwsdp-2.0 pack in the manifest file and have
    also specified the main class
    java -jar test.jar it gives following error
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/soap/SOAPFaultException

    You need the JAX-RPC classes in your class path.

    I notice that wssec.jar which is in the classpath for registryTester.bat is not present in %WAS_INSTALL_DIR%\lib\wssec.jar location. Is that the problem?
    Thanks!

    Seems to be a CLASSPATH problem. Try:
    java -cp  .  ExampleProgramIt should help. (Beware there are three arguments, the . is the second.)
    Maybe you have a classpath variable set where the path doesn't contain the working directory (the "."). You may then consider adding it to the end.
    Hope it helps

  • Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in Jdeveloper 9.0.5.2.(Build 1618)

    Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError org.apache.struts.taglib.BaseHandlerTag
    Hi,
    We are using Jdeveloper10g version 9.0.5.2(Build 1618) as our IDE. We have a struts based controller architecture in our project. So we frequently use struts tags in our jsp pages. The application is working fine but sometimes when i do some changes in one of or a number of the jsp files in Jdeveloper , after recompiling i get the above error in number of jsps though i haven't touched those jsps at all.
    I found a work around for this problem by just shutting down the Jdeveloper and again starting it.
    It gives such kind of errors for only stuts based tag containing jsps.
    Do anybody has any solution for this persistent problem.
    My whole team is facing this problem.
    With Warm Regards,
    Datta.

    No anyone knows?

  • Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in execution

    Hi, I compile my code right but when I'm executing the code I get the following error:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: jahuwaldt/tools/NeuralNets/NeuronFactory
    This is my code:
    import jahuwaldt.tools.NeuralNets.*;
    public class Gene
    public FeedForwardNet OOLFFNet;
    public Gene(int newNumInput,int newNumOutput,int newNumHidden,int newNeuronHLayer)
      OOLFFNet = new FeedForwardNet(NumInput,NumOutput,NumHidden,NeuronHLayer, new BasicNeuronFactory() );This line that fails is the last one.
    In the directory of jahuwaldt/tools/NeuralNets I got the file NeuronFactory.class. So I don't know why the code compiles right but when it is in execution mode gives the error non class found, when the class is in the directory. Any help?. Thanks in advance

    Hi, thanks again. I'm stuck with this I have test several options but I still get the same error. These are some options that I have tried.
    java -classpath  C:\NeuralNet\jahuwaldt\tools\NeuralNets\NeuronFactory\*.class; sim.app.OOL.OOLWithUI
    java -classpath  C:\NeuralNet\jahuwaldt\tools\NeuralNets\NeuronFactory\NeuronFactory.class; sim.app.OOL.OOLWithUIWhere is the problem?, I think that they are the same that the example from the java help.
    java -classpath C:\java\MyClasses\myclasses.jar utility.myapp.Cool
    Thanks again.

    It even tries to tell you what's wrong. Run class "start.HelloWorldSwing", not "HelloWorldSwing".
    I bet that copying that error message without the class name into Google would have given you the answer right away.
