Netvault - Oracle APM

I am trying to use Netvault - Oracle APM for doing RMAN Managed backups. I have situation now where I can do the backups properly. But every time I try to restore the backup it fails.
The error stack is as given below:
ORA-19507: failed to retrieve sequential file,
ORA-27029: skgfrtrv: sbtrestore returned error
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text
If any one is using Netvault - Oracle APM for RMAN backups please let me know how this issue can be resolved. I am using version 5.0 of Oracle APM.

The provided error stack is too generic, it would be interesting to know, WHICH error is returned by the MML. Almost each MML problem returns these 3 error lines.

Using Oracle APM (Authorization Policy Manager), I need to grant the 'authenticated-role' a privilege to access a particular taskflow.
Usually one is able to search for a role and add it, however the 'authenticated-role' does not turn up in the search. How do I add it?
If I create such a role, how will I be able to link it to the appropriate enterprise role using APM.

Installing Oracle Entitlements Server (Derby) and oracle.security.apm.derby.ear not found

Weblogic 10.3.5
OES 11.1.1.5
Redhat 5.5

I'm try to setup an evaluation domain for OES so I followed the setup for using the derby database. I have the derby schema setup correctly and I have create the OES domain using the Oracle Entitlesments Server Derby Template - 11.1.1.0. This goes through fine, but when I start the server I am getting the below error. The oracle.security.apm.derby.ear file is not in that location nor is it anywhere in the oracle home dir. So I'm not sure whats wrong, doing a search for the oracle.security.apm.derby.ear file on google returns nothing.

I too come accross this issue. But, I didn't installed any patch on top of OES.
I just rebuild the OES schema in database and it started perfectly. Hope it helps.
B/W did you tried to configure external user store to OES like LDAP??

Query off of Oracle using WinSql - Need help with query

I am trying to query off of Oracle using program WinSql.
I have a table(tticpr200110) that has the following sample data:
ITEM     CODE     T$AMNT
23500076 ACL     .0049
23500076 APM     0
23500076 APO     .0093
23500076 EXP     .0001
23500076 RES     .0072
and what I want it to look like is:
ITEM     ACL     APM     APO     EXP     RES
23500076     0.0049     0     0.0093     0.0001     0.0072
(actually I need the last 2 columns added together to be MATL-but can deal with that down the road).
Seems simple enough, but I don't know to put into the columns.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as soon as possible would be even better.

My table - tticpr200110 when it runs I get the following sample data for part number 23500076:
The first coloumn ITEM is the part number.
The second column CODE is 1 of 5 different cost codes
The third column is the cost for that code for that part.

I want to make a query that makes the data look like this:

(similar to a pivot table in excel or acess)

Java APM Agent initialization failed: SEAgent.config.xml does not have a valid event sender configured

Today I tried to configure JAVA APM on a CentOS 6.4 server with tomcat6 installed through the normal RPM package. Adding this server to SCOM was no problem and it shows itself as a 'Deep Monitored Configuration'. The last part of enabling
JAVA APM fails. I have followed the following process:
1. Imported the JAVA APM MP's
2. Extracted the JAVA APM Files
3. Copied those files to my CentOS server
4. Added the JAVA_OPTS to my tomcat configuration file
5. Restarted Tomcat
When I look for the log file which needs to be created through the installation of the APM agent it cannot be find. When I look into my Catalina.out file I see the following errors:

I'm running tomcat on a CentOS release 6.4 (Final) server. I installed Tomcat 6 through an RPM from the CentOS sources. I have installed Apache Tomcat/6.0.24 wit JVM version 1.7.0_09-icedtea-mockbuild_2013_01_16_18_52-b00, the JVM Vendor is Oracle Corporation.
My tomcat configuration needs to be done in '/etc/tomcat6/tomcat6.conf'

Oracle Linux 6.4 installs, runs, and manual shutdown OK ... but restarts itself after 10 minutes or so

Successfully installed Oracle Linux 6.4 operating system , which subsequently runs as expected.
When Oracle Linux 6.4 is shutdown using standard GUI system/shutdown ,
it does a clean shutdown and power-off as expected ....
UNTIL some 10 minutes or so later , when Oracle Linux 6.4 reboots all by itself from a fully powered-down state.
Likewise when Oracle Linux 6.4 is shutdown using standard command line " shutdown -h now" ,
it does a clean shutdown and power-off as expected ....

Clearly it is NOT desirable to have the operating system able restart of it's own accord.
A manual shutdown is typically done for good reason , and the server should remain shutdown.
The previous version, ie Oracle Linux 6.3 did not exhibit this behavior.
When Oracle Linux 6.3 was shutdown, it stayed shutdown

Assuming your network interface is eth0, execute "$ ethtool eth0", like below, and indicate what you get for the lines "Supports Wake-on" and "Wake-on.

Then check in your BIOS (usually under APM) for any enabled power-on settings associated with PCI or PCIe bus (your NIC will use one or the other).

Using APM to lock down attributes in 11.1.2.1.0

I am new to APM and OIM.
I want to use the policies in APM to deny edits to certain fields (say Display Name on the my information page) for a normal user, but allow edits for someone with the User Administration role.
Reading the documentation here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37115_01/dev.1112/e27150/securityarch.htm#CEGDHJHC it seems to be as easy as adding the denied fields to OrclOIMDeniedAttributesDirect in a policy like OrclOIMUserSelfServiceDirectWithAttributesObligation (if I'm reading it right).
My question is, where do I get the attribute names from that I want to deny? Are they the database fields, the ones in web composer or the ones in the ldap server? Or should they be attributes that exist in the APM attributes section already? Or, is there something I need to do to OIM to allow the attributes to be understood by APM?
Any help would be appreciated.

Errors while using RMAN APM in Bakbone

I am trying to implement RMAN using Bakbone Netvault. The thing is I am able to take a backup without any problems. But when I try to do a restore to the DB from the Bakbone tool it is failing with the following error message. I am not sure what is going wrong.
The error message is as follows:

Yes, it's solved. Sorry for the long delay in reply (Mike) - I'm not getting email notification of replies from the forum, even though I've set them.
As a solution, use disk2vhd instead of the SC12VMM P2V wizard, which will seemingly always fail in this situation in my hands.

Installing Oracle Linux 6 For 11g

I'm downloading Oracle Linux 6,2 64-bit with the single intention to simply install Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition and I've never used or installed Oracle Linux before. I know that in order to install Oracle 11g database, I will need to have some kind of graphic utility like X but I do not need a Desktop Environment like Gnome or KDE (which is not permitted on servers per company policy). Can someone tell me what exactly or which specific options I will need to minimally install Oracle database 11g? I don't want to install the entire DVD content to my server but rather know what packages are required and ONLY install those. I don't know if the Linux installer has a fairly self explanatory / easy to use options based on me using this system as a database server but if anyone can please help, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Sorry everyone but I've retured back from vacation to focus back on getting Oracle Database 11.2.0.3 installed on Oracle Linux 6.2 64-bit. I've got the O.S. up and I thought I selected all the correct / required packages to perform the standard installation using the Universal Installer but it's not working for some reason. I'm unable to forward my 'xclock' session from the database server host to my workstation (Ubuntu 12.04 Linux). When I open a terminal window on my Ubuntu Linux machine and type 'xclock', the application opens w/o any issues. When I SSH into my Oracle database server and attempt to forward the X11 session over to my machine, I get:

you need to customer support identifier which is called CSI for can login metalink(https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html)
If you dont have metalink account there is no way to see doc or download patch.
Pretty simple process:
1) You purchase a perpetual or term license from Oracle;
2) At the beginning of the period, during the valid term you purchase
Support for the period (1 year);
3) Oracle sends you the CSI.
Easy to do at http://store.oracle.com armed with a credit card.

Oracle BACKUP without specific agent

Hi forum,
I would like to use a backup software (in this case NetVault) but without its specific agent for SAP/Oracle. 1,5 TB database on a 40 LTO cartridge.
We havent enough space for a brbackup of filesystem.

Oracle Entitlement Server(OES) Security Module

Hi,
I am a newbie in OES domain. I have installed OES Server 11.1.1.2 to protect an application.
What I am confused about is how to decide which Security Module(SM) to use for configuration post client installation?
Kindly provide your inputs.

Just an FYI for you, this product does not get much focus in the forum here. OES was added to the OIM product with 11GR2 version to handle some of the security for it in the last few years, but there is minimal use of it beyond installation. Most individuals who have worked with it have done nothing beyond just logging in to the apm console and seeing that it's there or adding a permission for a new task flow. It only requires checking a box during the domain configuration to include. Your best bet might be asking oracle in an SR if you have an existing client CSI you are working with.

My main point of confusion is that going from ORACLE 10G's capabilities, especially with new features like the 10G Database ASM, Streams, Transportable Tablespaces, 10G Application Server APM, Workload Management and all of 10G Enterprise Manager Grid Control array of features, systems built on this infrastructure cant be referred to as a grid, atleast from the foregoing excerpt.
Please can someone put me right, assuming i am going wrong. I am researching into grid technology and where Oracle technology fits.

you shouldn't confuse - Oracle Grid is just hype
but seriously this one is enterprise grid computing or
computing on demand or utility computing.
It's different from academic (classics) grid.
Main goal of enterprise grid - reduce TCO of datacenters.
It's based on usual "idiots" report of Gather (or may
be IDS) that server's CPUs are too underload (idle).
So you should dynamically distribute workload between
few servers in RAC cluster (now named as Grid).
And of course, it will be work automagically
so bosses can fire all datacenter's personnel
and manage just push one red button.

To Confgure RMAN backup through Netvault

Hi All,
I have configured RMAN backup through a Net-Vault. Previously I was taking User Managed backup, Backup ran successfully. I have issues with RMAN Backup through NetVault.
The following is the error message received.

RMAN-04005: error from target database:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
Failed with exit code 3
RMAN returned exit code 3
But when I take RMAN backup directly(Without Netvault) with that oracle user, I have no problem - Backup Runs properly.
What should I do to take Backup through NetVault.

No it's not at all possible to take backup of multiple database through the manually allocated channel.
Allocating the channel manually is only possible while running the commands in batch mode
eg. run {
allocate channel ch1 type disk format='/backup1/RMANBACKUP/PROD521_%s_%p';
allocate channel ch2 type disk format='/backup1/RMANBACKUP/PROD521_%s_%p';
backup database setsize=12582912;
release channel ch1;
release channel ch2;
And you can connect through single rman prompt to only one target database not more than that. So at any point of time you connect to only one database you can user channels to backup that database only.

Error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from Oracle BPEL..

Hi ,
We are facing some error while invoking a WS-Security secured web service from our BPEL Process on the windows platform(SOA 10.1.3.3.0).

but sttill,after deploying it and passing values in it,we are getting the following error on the console :-
“Header [http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing:Action] for ultimate recipient is required but not present in the message”
Any pointers in this regard will be highly appreciated.

We've tried to call that web service from an HTML designed in Visual Studios with the same username and password and its working fine.
But on the BPEL console, we are getting the error as mentioned.
Also if you can tell me how to set the user name and password in the header of the parter link.I could not find how to do it.
