NetWeaver UME user database

Hello Experts,
For SAP Sourcing 7.0, In a scenario the Buy Side and Sell side users need to be authenticated against NW UME data base. So while configuring the Directory settings the driver is set to NW UME. (for both internal and external users). And attributes (NAME, F.NAME, L.NAME and EMAIL) are mapped with NW UME (Users will be createdpushed to NW  in SAP Sourcing and UME). Along with this "bypass_error_block" property is set to "TRUE". When a new user is created in SAP Sourcing 7.0, The same user is created in the NW UME sucessfully.
But while accessing to the URL few errors were noticed;
1) For the first time, When tried to open buyside URL; SAP Netweaver log on page is displayed asking for the user credentials and when the user credentials are provided it takes to the SAP Sourcing page. BUT Is it that when we configure with NW UME, the users need to access through Netweaver log on page (or they will access the SAP Sourcing page)
2) For the second time, When tried to access the system portal(fssystem) on the same explorer, the SAP Sourcing log on page is displayed. And system ID log in happened successfully.
3) Now if the same buy side URL(fsbuyer) is opened on the same explorer then SAP Sourcing log on page is displayed (not the SAP NetWeaver) asking for user credentials and when user credentials are provided it throws an error "Entry Doesn't exist".
(NOTE:- It was verified that the URL for point 1 and point 3 are one and the same)
4) In order to get back to the NetWeaver log on page to access the SAP Sourcing system, we need to close all the explorers and reopen the buyside portal.
More over; For the Enterprise log in, one interesting property was found; when we try to log in for the first time it throws an error " Entry doesn't exist". But from second time onwards it successfully allows for log in.
Is there anyone who is facing similar type of error. Or is there any other settings need to be done for cluster and directory configuration?
Your help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Jagamohan

This tool looks interesting, and might be useful to Rao, but it would need some improvements to make it secure. I suggest using cryptographically secured session between the domain controller and the SAP system so that password changes can be send to SAP, and then captured by an RFC function module, and written into SAP user store. Since RFCs in SAP can be secured using SNC, and AD uses Kerberos, it would be good/easy to use Kerberos to secure the session between the DC and SAP ABAP when passing the password over the network. Then, the J2EE engine can be configured to use ABAP as the user store via UME. The end result is that Active Directory can be used to authenticate to SAP, and if AD is not available, or wide area network is not available the ABAP/UME password can be used locally.
One issue worth considering, is what happens when there is no network connection from the domain controller to the SAP system ? The software would have to queue the request so that when network connection is back, the password change is pushed to SAP system, and then the two password stores will be in sync at all times. Without this queuing system there is a chance the password will get out of sync.
Obviously, a lot of work to do in order to make this work, especially if you want it to work securely and reliably. However, it has some possibilities.
Take care,
Tim

  • Netweaver UME and LDAP sync ( user data)

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to support the offiline availability for one of the netweaver servers in the landscape . We are planning to integrate all the java netwevaer systems with LDAP and is there any possibility to sync all the user data including password to the netweaver UME in case of LDAP not available. So, users can do some tasks in offline mode with LDAP .
Any information regarding would be greatly appreciated.

  • Attribute to lock Portal UME user

    Hi SAP Expert,
Does anyone know the attribute for locking UME user id in Portal Batch Import?
I am trying to use 'Portal batch import' to mass lock portal users, that is by importing a batch file with corresponding uid. I search up and down and couldn't find the attribute that responsible for the lock status in portal.
Have anyone experience a similar issue and know where to look for the lock attribute label?
    Thanks in advance.

    Jim,
It sounds like you already have a text list of  users, who have left the company and the list is too long to easily search for each individual user and lock them.
One thing you could do is the following:
    1. Create a group called temporary.
    2. Add this group to all the users as follows:
    [user]
    uid=john.doe
    last_name=doe
    group=temporary
If your SAP NetWeaver system is 7.0 or earlier, this removes all other group assignments from these users! If you have SAP NetWeaver 7.1, you can use the following syntax:
    group=+temporary
. This add the gorup assignment without removing the others.
    3. Start identity management and display all users who are members of this group.
    4. From the Table selection menu, choose Select All.
    5. Choose Lock.
    6. Enter the reason for the lock.
    7. Choose Lock.
This seems to be a rather roundabout way to achieve your goal. Unless you are talking about thousands of users, it still might be easier to lock each user by hand:
    1. Start identity management.
    2. Copy the user name into the search field.
    3. Search.
    4. Select.
    5. Lock.
Repetitive, but not nearly as destructive.
SAP NetWeaver Identity Management offers additional functions, enabling you to trigger the locking of users automatically and removing all authorizations, say if your HR system changed the users status. But it does not sound like you have that option right now.

  • UME - User accounts - Entity is inconsistent

    Hi,
We have pointed our UME to the LDAP (i.e. AD) to pull out the user records. We did not know to make that into effect, we have to restart the Application Server (i.e. J2EE). So we were not able to see the LDAP as a possible data source in UME.
Meanwhile, we created some test users in UME, which have the same userID as that in LDAP and SAP. So for example, we have Baldwin01 in UME, in SAP, and also in LDAP. This seems to allow the email to be sent out successfully during the various provisioning process in ERM, CUP.
However, recently, our administrator account in UME got locked out due to password lock-out. To solve this, we activated the emergency account SAP* to unlock the administrator account. and as part of this process, the Application server was restarted.
This restart seem to have an impact on the UME, as now, we can now see the LDAP as a data source, when previously we were not able to. and we could also see all LDAP users. However, we are now not able to log on to those users that was previously created in UME (i.e. the Baldwin01 example above), as the UME now seems to detect 2 Baldwin01, one created in UME and one pulled from LDAP. To add on to the problems, every single LDAP pulled record has this "Entity is inconsistent" issue pegged to the user account.
We tried to run a consistency check, and accepted the interactive repairs, but the "Entity is inconsistent" issue remains.
In GRC, from the launchpad, because it is authenticating against the UME, none of the accounts can log on, except the Administrator account. The only time we can use the UME users is when we request access in CUP (where we are prompted to logon using my network ID (i.e. LDAP) and pw).
We really appreciate help on how to resolve this "Entity is inconsistent" issue. Many thanks!

    Hi,
I have never seen this issue. In this case, this issue is not at all related to GRC products. You should try to delete all the earlier UME user accounts. If you can not remove them then remove the LDAP datasource association with UME and then remove all the UME accounts. Once this is done, reconnect LDAP as UME datasource.
If this does not resolve then you should open a customer message with netweaver team.

    Hi,
We recently have memory error messages on the POA and on the Client.
The error seemed to follow several C042 errors:

Error: Memory error. Memory function failure [8101] User:
I cannot find any process that is accessing the user database at that time (GWcheck, Backup)

  • How get scott user database schema in oracle 10g express edition

    hi
plz any on can tell me how to get the scott user database table details into the oracle 10g express edition
Iam created the user as scott but but i didn't get the table details
...plz give me the details correctly.

You will go into this path C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\rdbms\admin\scott.sql. You can get scott.sql script yhen you need to run the script like @C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\rdbms\admin\scott.sql. Otherwise you just copy the below script and save it into one file then run that file using @

  • How can I share a Tiger server's User database to a Panther server?

I need some help to set this up. Keep in mind I do not have a DNS server.
I have a Tiger server with Xserve and an older Panther server, both on the same local network. I have a whole bunch of users setup on the Tiger server. The Panther server does not have any users setup on it. I do not want to have to type in all the users all over again in the Panther server. What I'd like to be able to do is somehow share and syncronize the user database on the Tiger server with the Panther server.
I looked into the Open Directory settings but I do not understand what to do. How do I configure the Tiger and Panther servers respectively so the Panther server can sync with the Tiger server's users database. Is this possible? It seems like it with Open Directory, one being the Open Directory Master and the other being the Open Directory Replica? But I just don't understand how to set this up. Also the Panther OD settings seem quite different than Tiger's in Open Directory.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi
It may be best to set up your 10.4 Server as an Open Directory Master first and then use Directory Access on your 10.3 Server to connect to the Tiger Server so as it can use the same User Database. This should be possible. OD Master/Replica relationships are not possible if the OS versions are different, even if the Master was 10.4.11 and the Replica was 10.4.10. You have no chance when its 10.4 and 10.3.
    http://images.apple.com/server/macosx/docs/OpenDirectory_Adminv10.5.pdf
The link is for 10.5 but the basics are the same. This is a recent post that describes how to set up an OD Master:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1377046&tstart=0
I'm guessing that your 10.4 Server is Standalone and is serving simple file services only (AFP and possibly SMB/Windows). If this is the case (and I can't see how it can't be) then your users will be in the local NetInfo node. This will be the default node that is presented to you in WorkGroup Manager. You always get a warning that your are working in an invisible node (if you have not disabled this) when working in the Server's local node. Don't worry there is nothing wrong with the warning. WorkGroup Manager on Panther (10.3) Server works the same way.
You could if you wanted to simply export the Users and Groups from WGM in 10.4 and import them into WGM on 10.3. This should save you having to key them all in again. If the prospect of configuring internal DNS Services and all that goes with it seems to much for you then this is probably the simplest option. How do you do this? Launch WGM (its the same for both versions), select the Server Menu and select Export after first selecting desired users. Do the same for Groups. Use the same procedure in reverse. The Users and Groups files are not very big and can easily be transferred using a memory stick etc.
There are differences between the two versions which are mostly to do with Server Admin. In 10.4 Server there are more services. One of the Services will be Open Directory. In 10.4 Open Directory will only show a green light by the side of the service if it is in any role other than Standalone. Server Admin on 10.3 Server will always show the green light by the side of the Open Directory Service. This does not mean that it is an OD Master, you have to click on Settings and inspect the Role to see what it actually is.
You should be able to connect to a 10.3 Server with 10.4's Admin tools but don't be tempted to use Server Admin to configure/change anything on the 10.3 Server. You should not be able to go the other way 10.3 > 10.4 using the same tools.
Internal DNS Services are a requirement for LDAP Services (and pretty much everything else) on Servers generally, although for simple file services not absolutely necessary. Internal DNS Services do not have to be configured on the Server itself just as long as they are configured on another server, for example, on the same network. If these are the only two servers on the network then you will have to configure DNS Services on either one or both of them depending on what you want.
Not available on your 10.3 Server but is on your 10.4 Server are Access Control Lists (ACLs). This is a permissions model that is in addition to the standard POSIX permissions. Think carefully about how you provide permissions to your network clients if there is a mix of client OS, 10.3, 10.4 etc.
    Hope this helps, Tony

  • Permission to run SQL Server DTA - dbo access needed --- to the user database, or msdb ?

    Hi All,
I am remotely working with a developer who wants to run DTA (SQL Server 2008 R2). I gave the AD Group "ALTER TRACE" permission, and also "execute" permission to xp_msver in master db. I also read that
the user needs to be in dbo group. This is to the user database they wish to use DTA with, correct ? I just want to be sure that dbo to msdb is not needed.

  • Using AAD as a user-database

I'm wondering if it's possible to use Windows Azure Active Directory (WAAD) as a standard "user-database"? Let me explain..
We currently have a standard, "home-built" user registration system build on top of SQL server, MVC, etc. The users in this database are registered users of the site, and have used email address to register (from various domains, such as gmail.com,
    yahoo.com, live.com, etc.).
The idea would be to "lift and shift" these user accounts into a WAAD tenant and replace the home-grown system we have. Why you ask? Two primary reasons:
    - Allows us to take advantage of the myriad of authentication methods provided by WAAD (two-factor, etc.)
    - Safer than on-site storage of credentials, which is a business we don't want to be in.
The key difference here is we're not using any sync'd directory, and are talking about users with domains different than the WAAD root domain. I realize this is very different than the traditional use cases for a "directory", but it really enables
    some powerful scenarios (if possible).
So, to wrap up - is this possible? Are there alternatives?
    Thanks!!!

    Thanks for the reply, Paul!
"If you do not want the logins to be in your domain, they can be external - either their own AAD or Microsoft accounts."
Therein lies the problem - the accounts we're talking about are neither of these. They are not even directory-related accounts. They are traditional web-style registration accounts, using email addresses as usernames from organizations we will never control
(Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Amazon, etc.). And, by that very nature, these logins are definitely not in our company domain (nor would we want them to be).

    Hi Abdul,
Can you check if the remote agent on the windows server box is running the same 4.2.1.15 version as well.
Like if  ACS -4.2.1.15   then make sure that remote agent is also 4.2.1.15
    or
if ACS is running 4.2.1.15 patch 2 then remote agent should also be 4.2.1.15 patch 2
Let me know if the version is same and if not then install the remote agent correctly and try again.

  • SSO with different ECC and UME user

    Hi everyone!
I'm in MII 12.1.10 and trying to configure MII for SSO logon on ECC through JCO connector. My problem is i have different user in ECC and UME. SSO was configured successfully when user are equals
ECC have a user mapping for users from AD and it's works for SSO on SAPGUI for example.
On MII, user are logged in with AD user. But when i try to call a RFC with a logon ticket didn't work.
So, SSO logon works if, and only if, ECC user and UME user are the same? Can ECC validate the ticket with AD mapping user?

    Hi Francisco,
The both user name of ECC and UME should be same.
Then only the ticket can be validated.
Can you maintian sam euserid and try the scenario.
    Thanks
    patrick

  • Trouble with Component Wizard and User Database

    Hello,
I am a user of Circuit Design v.13.0 Power Pro Edition (Windows 8 Pro x64, intel Core i7 3GHz, 4GB memory, 500GB HDD).
On MultiSim, I tried to create a 324-pin component via the Component WIzard, and had this component listed in the User Database.
I failed, however, to register the symbol (ANSI Y32.2) created on the Symbol Editor, receiving an error saying something like:
"The ANSI symbol for component ......... cannot be found or is invalid. The symbol is saved in the database. Check if the symbol is correct."
(This is an English intepretation of the original Japanese, so may not be the exact English error message.)
Actually, no symbol appears on the Database Manager.
I have found that this error does not occur for pin counts equal to or fewer than 144.
Furthermore, other 324-pin and 256-pin components created on MultiSim v.12.0 caused an error when I tried to edit these components in the User Database, with a message like:
"A trouble occurred in reading the symbol data of component ..."
Could anyone tell me how I can resolve these problems?
I will greatly appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Akira

    I have the same problem. I am using Multisim 13.0.1 (13.0.1059) with database version 13.0.c, Win7 x64
I found that when you have a component symbol with 146 pins, it works, but when you add one more pin, you get an error saying, "The ANSI symbol for component [my component name] in family [component family name] is missing or invalid. The symbol will still be saved to the database. Check to ensure the symbol is correct.
Multisim will not allow opening the component in the database for editing. If you try to place the component on a schematic, you get the error "There was a problem reading symbol data for component [component family name]/[my component name]
