New Application Server

I have just built my first solaris 9 application server, my only problem is, that when i bring in up onto the network, my main sun box with my oracle 9i databases starts to have issues. Any connections to the database's are either very slow or they timeout. I have checked ip address and hostname and domain name.

Hi Bjorn,
You can install the second application server and you can reuse the existing db server.
But attention once with installation of second application server the first one it will not work properly anymore.
You will have to check two tables tblServerInfo and tblAppsetInfo.
These two tables can determine what application server is used.
So after the installation of second server check these tables and make sure your appset is using the right application server.
Normally I will have all servers with suffix 1 into tblappsetinfor and into tblserverinfo I'm keeping just the records with suffix 1 and I will delete the other records.
After that I will check if these records from tblserverinfo are right or I'm doing the appropiate changes.

  • Oracle 10g - Creating a new Application Server using standalone OC4J 10g

I have some issues in creating a new app. server using standalone oc4j 10g 10.1.3 instance. After I created the app. server instance, I tested the connection and it says connection refused. I used the userid as oc4jadmin and the password as welcome. I am getting a message connection refused. For connection, I used the default hostname "localhost" and I didn't mention anything in the URL path.

    Thanks Steve..
Here is what I am trying to do.. I want to create a new app server instance (i.e.) stand alone oc4j server, where I can deploy my web service and run a test.
    Oracle JDeveloper 10g:
Under Connection Navigator, Application Server --
    1) Right click to 'Create New Application Server Connection'
    2) Connection type as 'Standalone OC4J 10 g 10.1.3',
    3) Username ==> oc4jadmin, Password ==>welcome, checked the Deploy password.
    4) Hostname: localhost RMI Port: 23791
    URL path: <<blank>>
    5) Test Connection ==> getting a error message...

  • CCMS configuration for historical data of a new application server

Out CI & app servers are configured in CCMS before I joined the team. Around months back a new application server added but it seems for that CCMS is not capturing histrorical data.
In ST6N, I get all app servers name including the new one. When I click on the new app server and click on Snapshot then detailed information for CPU,memory etc are displayed but when I click on resources under "Previous hours" or "History" to get CPU,memory etc details then an error pop-up is displayed i.e. "No Performance MTEs  availbale for category CPU" or "No Performance MTEs availbale for category MEM" [availbale <- SAP typo].
How to make sure that we can get previous hours and as well historical cpu, memory use informations ?

Hi, the data you are trying to see is collected by saposcol.
    1) Log on to the specific application server and verify that everything is working correctly with saposcol:
    ST06->Operating System Collector->Status
    ST06->Operating System Collector->Available days
    ST06->Operating System Collector->Log file.
    2) Installing an additional App server should have configured the statistical data setup automatically:
ST03N - check if the the app server is listed.
    ST03N->Collector->Performance Monitor collector->Log
    3) Check transaction RZ03 that there are no conflics in the Operation Mode.
    4) Run the program RSCOLL00 manually on that app server.
This should give you a starting point .....

  • Trouble creating new application server connection

Hi. I am trying to create a new application server connection in jdev 10.1.3.1.0. I am taking all of the default settings in the wizard, and I am specifiying user name, password and checking deploy password. When I click test connection on the last screen of the wizard I get:
Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://localhost:23791/default:
Error reading application-client descriptor: Error communicating with server: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused: connect [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]
Does anybody know how to correct this?
    Thank you.

    Hello Anil,
The error that you are getting indicates that the user that you are using to install the dialog server does not have enough rights to connect to the SAPMNT share of the central instance.
    Please do the following:
1.) Make sure that you are using a domain admin ID or a local admin ID that is on both systems with the same password.
2.) Verify that SAPMNT is shared on the central instance by using the "net share" command from a Windows command prompt.
3.) Make sure that the domain admin or local admin group is added to the file level permissions and share level permissions of SAPMNT with full rights.
Also the general install guides will also have instructions on how to install a dialog instance as well.
    Hope this helps you,
    Thomas Wagner

  • New Application server on existing Non-Unicode CI

    Hello all,
We upgraded our BW 3.5 system to BW 7 ehp 1 late last year; due to the need for increased capacity we want to add an application server.  The BW 7 system is Non-Unicode (NUC), and in SAPINST GUI I do not see any options for a NUC installation.  I found a Note stating this fact, "all new installations will be Unicode by default".
So my question is, what are my options here?   A UC conversion project is not an option at this time.  We have a couple of projects that require no BW down time for the next 2 months.  However, at the completion of those two projects is when the extra capacity is needed; so I don't have a window to conduct the conversion.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jose

    >  "all new installations will be Unicode by default".
    >
    > So my question is, what are my options here?   A UC conversion project is not an option at this time.
Since the start of BW 7.0 all installations are Unicode-only and all upgrades have to do a Unicode conversion. The reason is the fact, that BW 7.0 makes heavy use of Java which is not supported with non-Unicode backend systems:
Note 975768 - Deprecation of Java features with non-Unicode Backend
Note 838402 - Problems within non-Unicode system landscapes
So before installing new unsupported system landscapes I can just highly recommend (not to say 'urge' you) to convert your current BW system to Unicode. With a good preparation this can be done on a weekend - or less.

    HI
    In JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0,
    1. Click on the tab for the Connections navigator.
    2. Right click on Application Server and select New Application Server Connection.
    3. Enter a descriptive name for the new connection, and select the appropriate connection type from the drop down list. Click Next.
    4. Specify oc4jadmin for User Name, then enter the oc4jadmin password. Click Next.
    5. Select Single Instance for Connect To, then provide the host name where BPEL is installed, the OPMN port number, and the OC4J instance name (the default for 10.1.3.1 is oc4j_soa). Click Next.
    6. Click Test Connection. If you have been successful, you should see "Success!"
    7. Now, right click on Integration Server and select New Integration Server Connection.
    8. Specify a connection name and click Next.
    9. In the drop down list by Application Server, select the Application Server Connection you just created. Again, specify the host name where BPEL is installed and the port number. This port number will be the same that you specified for the Integration Server Connection to the home OC4J container. Click Next.
    10. Test the connection. You should see something like:
    Application Server: OK
    BPEL Process Manager Server: OK
    ESB Server: OK
    11. Now, return to the Applications navigator, and try to redeploy your process using the Integration Server Connection just created. (It is possible that you will have to close JDeveloper and then reopen it for this to work.)
    Cheers

    Thanks in Advance!!

  • How to change the excel file name which is in Application server...

    hi friends,
my requirement is getting failed, when i'm trying to change the file name which is in Application server using the FM: SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE.
when i execute above FM, i can see all my required details in SM69 like:
    COMMAND NAME: ZSPOOL_TEST1
    OS: Windows NT
    TYPE: Customer
OS COMMAND: cmd rename Y:\OBRZ.PDF OBRZ38582.PDF
once the above FM is executed, i'm getting SY-SUBRC = 2 (exception: COMMAND_NOT_FOUND).
so, can any one guide me how to resolve this issue or is there any other way to rename the file which is in AS?
    thanks in advance...

    Hi ,
First you can tranfer the AS server file to a new application server file.
Then you delete the original file .
To do that you can write code as follows --
DATA : w_file(8) TYPE c VALUE 'FILE_NAM', " your present AS file name
           w_new(8) TYPE c VALUE 'NEW_FILE',
           fs_itab(255) TYPE c,
           t_itab LIKE TABLE OF fs_itab.
OPEN DATASET w_file FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.
    DO.
READ DATASET w_file INTO fs_itab. " Reading value from the AS file to field string
      IF sy-subrc NE 0.
        EXIT.
      ELSE.
APPEND fs_itab TO t_itab. " Populating internal table form the file value
      ENDIF.
    ENDDO.
OPEN DATASET w_new FOR INPUT IN BINARY MODE. " creating a new file if that does not exist
    LOOP AT t_itab INTO fs_itab.
TRANSFER fs_itab TO  w_new. " Transfering to file
    ENDLOOP.
    CLOSE DATASET w_file..
DELETE DATASET w_file. " Dleting the old file
CLOSE DATASET w_new.  " Closing the final file

  • Problem in Connecting to the application server

    Hi,
I have used this JMS previously to connect to Sun Application Server PE 8 and it was working fine, but lately I installed Sun Application Server 9 (GlassFish) to my computer without removing the previous application server. I just changed all the classpath configuration pointing to the new application server instead of the old one. The previous application server is stopped and I mostly start the new application server without even starting the previous one. I also changed the folder name of the previous one, in case that something is pointing to that location.
I created the ConnectionFactories and JMS destinations as I did before, and the code is the same, but unfortunately it is not working and it's giving me this error:
    com.sun.corba.ee.impl.transport.SocketOrChannelConnectionImpl <init>
WARNING: "IOP00410201: (COMM_FAILURE) Connection failure: socketType: IIOP_CLEAR_TEXT; hostname: myhost; port: 3700" org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE:   vmcid: SUN  minor code: 201  completed: No

    RBUtilSystemException.java:2348)
Is it important to remove the first application server completely ?
Have you ever encountered to such a problem?
    Regards,

    Hi,
I guess it is nothing to do with the previous application server existance.
It seems this is a known problem some time back if you have a java version "1.5.0"

  • Adding another application server.

    Hi Experts,
My company is having 2 system landscape.
DEV & QAS in one and PRD in one server.
in recent years, my company is growing faster.
i.e increasing number of End users and database growth.
and now the task is to add 2 or more application servers.
my doubts about application server are as follows:-
1 *Deploying application server means is tht installation of sap central instance in
new server or installing an Dailog instance ?
2 *How to add new installed application server to the existing land scape ?
3 *how to group up the added application servers in to a group , so that the
user will get connected to sap by tht group of application server?
requesting you to give some inputs on adding new application server and
    solution for database growth ?

    Hi graham,
You mean to say, if i install Dailog instance in new server and connected to lan with same ip class as PRD server. that will appear in SMLG.
so, there is no concept of selecting new server from PRD. i.e by STMS router or RFC .
and after adding the new application server i can create new group in SMLG
(by combining all the application servers, so tht user logons will be distributed.)
    is that right.
if any RFC connection has to maintained from PRD to new application server.
    please let me know that.
    thanking you
