New blog entries

When setting up a new entry for a blog in iweb, is there anyway to not have the usual template pictures, graphics and text show up each time? I don't want to spend time tweaking it each time. I've looked throught the iweb help and can't find anything......

In iweb, open the blog you want to update; click on "Entries", right click on a previously edited entry and choose the "duplicate" option. It will duplicate the edited entry without the custom template images or text.

  • Help, my new Blog entries, since iLife '08 upgrade, don't show ANY text!

Ever since upgrading to iLife '08, my new Blog entries do not show any of the text once it is uploaded to the server. In fact, all of my recent Blog entries now have all thier text gone when viewed online. Only Blog pages in "Archives" are still normal. What gives?! They all look good in iWeb, but not live. Thanks for your help. Wayne
    [email protected]

Hi Cedric. I went ahead and took down all recent changes to my site, and then just re-uploaded my last good set-up from iLife 2006. I think iLife 2008 changes how blog pages are addressed. As an example, my two most recent good entries show on the web as:
    http://waynelhenderson.com/Blog/693901ED-99E6-42D3-8AA9-7F8338989B47.html
    http://waynelhenderson.com/Blog/629035FF-E021-4B9D-AFE5-D091583E0676.html
Notice the long string of numbers, letters, and dashes, after the word /Blog/? My iWeb in iLife 2008 no longer puts those types of strings at the end of /Blog/. Instead, the Blog web entries show as:
http://waynelhenderson.com/Blog/Entries/2007/10/26Tuning_In_With_Wayne_Henderson_podcast_39_%26_40%2C_by_Wayne_Henderson_Voice-ove rs(206)984-1446iPhone_GreenpeacePackers!.html (before I took it down because it wasn't working right).
Could the fact that instead of the string of number, letters, and dashes after /Blog/, my iLife '08 uses "/Blog/Entries/2007/10/26_Tu....etc" have anything to do with my problem of text not showing?
I've always used the same fonts, sizes, and colors. But now it's not working. What is weird, however, is that if I did Select All, and Copy and Paste the web page contents onto Notepad...the text IS THERE...just not showing on the web.
    Argh!

  • New blog entries experience "error updating .Mac", and no "add comments"

Blog always worked fine. Now new blog entries get error updating .Mac message. New post does appear online, but there is no Add Comments option, despite it being selected in the inspector. Also, the blog main page doesn't show a title in the title bar at top. Might this have something to do with the new Mobile Me features (which I haven't tried or signed up for). When I delete the new posting and publish, it publishes fine. This error even happens with the template pg, so it's not anything to do with my formatting. Thanks for your help.

I have not tried publishing a new Blog entry since the new "me" thing, but I did try just a text edit on an existing Entry and republished the Entry. It seemed to function normally.
However, all of my Comments are missing from all my Blog entries - although the hit counts are still there.
And my Slide Shows won;t work and thumbnails won't enlarge on my photo pages.
Everything was working perfectly before this big "improvement" we just got.
I sure hope this is temporary or I just might throw a fit. There was a lot of valuable stuff in those comments, and if there won;t be a Comments function at all, I won't be able to keep my blog at mac. com or me whatever.
    Why fix what isn't broken?

  • New Blog entry screen not rendering properly in IE9 on Windows 7

I have set up a Blog site in Sharepoint 2013 and all seemed to be working OK, I am running Windows 8 with IE10.  When the blog site was accessed from a Windows 7 pc using IE9, all initially looked OK, however when I clicked on the link to add a new
blog post, the page looked like this:
I have tried this on both a workstation and via remote desktop, everytime it is accessed using IE9, this issue pops up.  All other parts of the SharePoint 2013 site so far seem OK.
    Any suggestions?

    Hello,
Try to set browser compatibility mode to IE9. You can access browser compatibility mode setting in Developer Tools menu.

  • File extension missing for new blog entry pages

I have a blog and have created new entries, but I can't publish "because the file does not have a file extension." (I clicked on the publish button and also tried in the menu "Publish to Mac.com." Neither works.
I thought whatever was necessary to connect a new entry to my blog was created automatically. I'm not even sure what a file extension is. What is it?
In the Site Inspector I can do nothing. All possible commands are grayed out. Maybe I'm not supposed to make a hyperlink for a file.
Thanks for any help you can give. Edify

Will I have to clear the cache every time I want to upload new material?
you don't have to clear the cache to upload the material, you sometimes have to clear the browser's cache to see your new page,  for the old page in the cache may prevent your browser from displaying the new page properly.
BTW, the same is true for any visitor to your site - if you change your page frequently and find that you have to empty the cache, then any visitor to your site also will experience the same problem and should know that he/she should empty the cache if the page looks funny.

  • Photo problems in blog entries...

I am having problems with photos and images displaying in blog entries. I am able to place photos in the text of my blog entries but upon publishing some will display and some won't (in any web browser or system used).
I have tried emptying Safari caches and reloading pages but to no avail. Some photos are still missing (they are displaying as a small question mark when viewed online).
What's worse is that reinserting the photos in iWeb and then republishing will make some of the missing photos appear on my site while others that were displaying okay previously will now be gone.
The result is that many of my blog entries are always missing photos.
Examples of this can be seen by clicking to view the various entries here:
    http://web.mac.com/jtbcmac/iWeb/MaiTai/MontrealTiki/Archive.html
    and here:
    http://web.mac.com/jtbcmac/iWeb/MaiTai/OtherArticles/Archive.html
I am currently trying to reload things, so pages may or may not look ok when you view them.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)
      Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    UPDATE:
All seems to be fine now... after making minor changes on each of the affected pages and republishing a couple of times.
But I have a feeling the problem will re-occur... as it has in the past... when I make a new blog entry.

  • Linking to Adobe PDF on blog entry crashing iWeb

Help! I have been using iWeb to create a website and blog. In a recent blog entry, i linked to an Adobe PDF file on my computer. The link was functioning and working fine, and then I saved the entry and iWeb crashed. I managed to open it back up by sending photos from iPhoto to iWeb. The other pages of the website work fine, and other blog posts also work fine. I tried publishing and the site published. However, in both iWeb and online, the blog post with the linked PDF is now just blank. The PDF works fine on its own and is not corrupted.
I have tried editing the post as well as deleting it in iWeb, but every time I click either button iWeb crashes and gives me an error message. I cannot duplicate the blog post either. This would somehow be okay, but I cannot add a new blog entry in iWeb either (it crashes). other pages are unaffected. I have not attempted deleting the entire blog portion of the website yet. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the malfunctioning blog post besides deleting the whole website and starting from scratch? Bear in mind the back-up of the Domain I saved was after I saved the blog post. Is there a 3rd party app that I can open my Domain in to manually remove the blog entry, or someway to access the code to delete the data that way?

This JUST happened to me as well after linking to a PDF file but now I can't get iWeb to load up, well, it opens and I can see the inspector pane but that is all...the main window is not there and I can't seem to figure out how to get it.
I also noticed a bunch of iWeb stuff in the trash now in a "recovered files" folder.
    Any ideas?

  • IWeb losing, and then corrupting photos in Blog entries

I have an odd problem, and really need some help!
I've been posting blog entries with pictures at the end of the text for many months now (over 150 entries), and only recently have run across this problem. After creating a new blog entry, I post the site, and after the site is published, will go to the site and see that the picture in the blog index is fine, but when anyone visits the page of that blog entry, the pictures at the end of the text are gone, and the picture at the start of the blog has a box with an X in it. When I go back into iWeb, the file will either be fine, or will have the X and all of my past posts will have it as well. When I try to re-drag the picture in, it is saying the picture is corrupt. Yet somehow, the next day on the web, the pictures magically appear and all seems fine (after trying to republish several times). This has happened for the past week or so, but seems to be worse as of late.
I don't know if this is because of occassional connection outages (which seem to happen fairly often) and pictures not completely loading, even though iWeb thinks they are, or if this is from problems on the .mac servers, or problems on my computer with iWeb. I've tried quitting and rebooting, which worked the first time or two that this happened, but no longer helps.
It's one thing if iWeb is not working correctly, but if this is now corrupting my photos in iPhoto, this is a serious defect! Apple, PLEASE make the next version more stable - we're I just getting started and seeing this, I would have dumped iWeb, but after 4 months and many many entries, it is not easy to move this to a TypePad or other site.
iMac 24"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   MacBook Pro, 5.5G iPod Video, G4 Titanium Powerbook

I'm having this same problem. Is this a known bug?
On my iWeb site, the pictures in my blog keeping getting "corrupted" and are unusable, and the only way I can get iWeb to accet them again is to export them from iPhoto, do a save-as, and re-import them into iPhoto.
Please tell me there is some sort of fix.

  • Is there a blog entry limit?

I've been searching the forums for an answer, but haven't been able to find one. Before moving from Rapid Weaver to iWeb 2.0 (my blog), I am interested in knowing whether there is a limit to the number of individual blog entries you can have in iWeb?
Another quick question. . . the iWeb's Help Viewer says that you can add images using a media placeholder. When I insert a placeholder (and image) into a blog entry, the image shows up fine there. But none of the images show up on the summary page.
I have made sure that the excerpt setting allows plenty of room for the image, in fact, text under the image shows up in the summary, but there's just a blank space where the image should be.
Does the blog summary page no longer support placeholders/images within an entry?

There is an *+iWeb '08 Getting Started Manual PDF+* on line:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/iWeb08_GettingStarted.pdf
This is on Page 16 from the above manual:
"To add a new blog entry:
1 In the sidebar, click Entries.
2 Click the Add Entry button.
The new entry appears below the Title list with placeholder text and graphics.
3 Double-click the placeholder text to change the title and add your own text to the entry.
4 Drag graphics from iPhoto or elsewhere on your computer to replace the placeholder graphics. (If the Media Browser isn’t open, click Media in the toolbar and then click Photos to access your photos.)
If you make changes to a blog entry, such as changing the font or the background color, you can duplicate the entry the next time you add an entry and keep the same formatting."
There may be more info to read that you may need!

  • Blog Entries Saved to Folder

    Hi all:
I hope those of you who have already used iWeb 2 can answer me. One of the worste thing of the previous version of iWeb was that when I added a new post to my blog and saved it folder, it saved AGAIN all the other unedited posts and pages too. Therefore, when I add the 301th post I have to wait for iWeb to save all the 300. And this is pure madness.
Can I save only the new blog entries with iWeb 2?
    Thanks,
    -Antonio

I have note tested this yet but I feel quite sure nothing has changed for you.
When you add an entry to your blog your blog's base page has changed it's content; you understand that it must regenerate and upload that page anew. Your archive page too has changed in the respect that it has had the last listed entry on the base page added to the top of it's parade.
It only makes sense that it would have to upload both of these. So I assume it is storing these as two basic pages. One of which, in your case, is extremely large, the archival one. It's true a better approach would be to save 300+ pages and just use url's, but apparently they have decided against this.
I might suggest that you make an entirely separate page for your archival construction and route to it from your base page, rather than letting iWeb take care of all of that for you. If your home-made archival page never changes, it won't upgrade.
So you have your base page with 5 or 10 entries, your archival page with say another 20 or so, then you have your mega-archive as a different blog page inside iWeb, and route user with a url at the bottom of the iWeb archive page.
iWeb isn't the best tool for all jobs. If I was that industrious and had a 300+ entry blog I'd use iBlog (which is a **** of a nice program) or blog.mac, also a great program. Just a thought.
    Good luck!

  • Retreiving lost blog entry with Time Machine

I was working with a new blog entry, when iWeb suddenly quit unexpectedly. I've never been good at hitting the save button, so all my work was lost.
I do run backup with TM, so thought there might be a slim chance that all was good, but alas...
I find the Domain.sites2 file in TM, but when I hit restore this does not change anything! It does not matter which date I try to restore from... iWeb still looks exactly as I left it last. So there must be something I'm doing wrong. Can anyone enlighten me?
    Tnks!!

to restore a file (or folder) with TM you launch TM and go back to the time you want, select the item (iPhoto library in this case) and click restore

  • Blog entry names

I want to use FTP (Fetch) to upload only new blog entries, not the whole blog, to my own domain name. I found this, which tells how to do it (thank you very much!):
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2679140&#2679140
My question is, how do you tell which is the new blog entry when you save to a folder? The names are such long, gibberish-looking things, and the creation date is the same for all the entries. Does it save them in alphabetical order? Do I have to keep a list of all the blog names so I can look for the different one? (shudder)
    Thanks,
    Satya

i don't blog on the website i have, but one way to do this is to upload everything.
Alternatively, you could see what is different from what is on the FTP server and upload that.
    Good luck!

  • Publishing via FTP - only new Blog-Entrys ?

    Servus,
how to do for just updating the Blog, but not every time the entire Folder to an FTP-Server?
    Thanks for Informations
    iMac G5 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

To update your blog with only the new entry, rather than upload the entire blog folder each time, you need to upload the following items:
the new blog entry + the folder for the new blog entry,
the archive file and archive folder,
the blog file and blog folder,
    the images folder,
    and the rss.xml file
and the main site images folder

    Without using Posterous.
    How ?

Is it possible to add a new blog entries from an iPhone ?
No, you can't do anything to an iWeb blog without using iWeb. Use something else for your blog.
