New bug in Firefox

Dear Firefox Supportline,
I have found a bug and would like you to fix it in the next versions of Firefox.
Code example:

TEXT

Another text

If to delete feature "overflow" with value "hidden" for the layer which removes floating, then an unnecessary margin is created.
Best regards, ZEOS

how much money i will get, if i tell you a new bug in Firefox 8, i found a new bug in Firefox 8, i tested this bug on chrome but their is no issue with this .

About the only way you could get money is by reporting a serious or critical security vulnerability that has not been reported before.

• The new version of Firefox does not seem to allow multi-touchscreen pinch/zoom feature. Is this a bug or is there something I can do to fix the problem? Thanks.

Since the new version of Firefox (which I love, esp the reduced menu bars at the top, leaving more web page viewable space), I am unable to use the multi-touch pinch/zoom function to resize pages. the scrolling still works, and all worked fine before.
Is this a bug or is there something I can do to fix it?
Thanks for your time.
Mx

Not a fix but if it's just a web site here and there that you find yourself using the pinch zoom feature you can use the IE Tab 2 addon to automatically use the ie engine and the zoom works.
You lose the other firefox features on those pages but as I said, if it's just a few sites it's worth a look.
I sure hope the Mozilla community fixes this in their desktop PC version soon. You can't gripe if it's free so I just keep waiting. :)
Their android and iOS version supports it so why not the PC version?

• How do I change the tab sizes in the new version of Firefox?

Hi,
Thanks for any help in advance.
Of course the new Firefox is messing with me...But I have one specific question...
Facts...
1) I own a iMac...17 inch...So I can open lots and lots of tabs at once.
2) I just rebooted my computer back to brand new.
3) I'm working on finding all my old stuff, but can't seem to find two specific items...
In the previous version, and before I rebooted, I had about 40 tabs (Including Cluster Tabs) opening-up whenever I started a browse session. But now, I can't seem to control the size of the tabs, so they get less narrow as I had them?
I've already downloaded "Vulcanize Tabs" but that's no help...I think it was a specific theme that allowed me to do this, but many of the themes don't work with this new version of Firefox.
I suspect I'll just have to wait until the themes are updated? Or, do you have a better idea?
Also...
I want to get rid of the "X" on each tab and only have a close tab button on the far right of my tabs navigation bar.
Any help?
If so, thanks again!
Ps...Is there a way to reverse my downloading of this newest Firefox version and go back to the previous one until this new one gets many of the bugs worked-out?

• How can I bookmark all my tabs in a bokmarkfolder without adding them one at a time in the newer versions of firefox?

In older versions of firefox a had the ability to instantly add all my open tabs to a folder of bookmarks. I really liked this feature, it was very convenient when I was doing something and was interrupted and wanted to be able to get back to where I was at a later time.
However I have not been able to find this feature in the newer versions of firefox.
Where do i find it?
I hope you have not removed it, because that would be a real shame.

Some menu entries in the main menu bar are hidden if you use the mouse and only appear if you use the keyboard to open the menu (Bug 626825).
You can see the difference if you use Alt+F to open the File menu or other menus like the Edit menu (Alt+E) and Bookmarks menu (Alt+B) and compare that to what you see if you use the mouse to open the menu after you have made the menu bar visible by tapping Alt or by pressing F10.
* "Bookmark All Tabs" (Shift+Ctrl+D) no longer shows in the Bookmarks menu unless you open the Bookmarks menu via the keyboard (Alt + B).
* "Bookmark All Tabs" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of a tab on the tab bar.
* "Bookmark This Page" can be accessed via the right-click context menu of that browser page.

• Internet Shortcuts saved on Desktop open new instance of Firefox 3.6 using clean profile--how can I make it open all shortcuts using current profile?

I rely heavily on Firefox's profiling ability to assist me in my web design projects. Lately, using Firefox 3.6, I have run into some problems with how it opens Internet Shortcuts that are saved locally (i.e.- shortcuts that reside on my Desktop). When I double-click on one of these shortcuts, a new instance of Firefox 3.6 is loaded with the saved website from the shortcut, but it's also initialized a fresh profile (i.e.- my bookmarks are gone, no add-ons, etc.--it's as if it uses some sort of "hidden" clean slate to load the shortcuts).
Is there any way to force Firefox to load all shortcuts into whatever profile I'm currently using at that given moment? I think the reason this has happened to begin with is because of the fact that I did some stuff to Internet Explorer awhile back that caused some problems with the Internet Shortcut associations and it all led to this eventuality.
I'm running Windows XP Pro and have the following profiles with my Firefox versions:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 3.6\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p Firefox3.6
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox N\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p FirefoxN
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 3\firefox.exe" -no-remote -p Firefox3
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 2\firefox.exe" --no-remote -p Firefox2
When I go into the "Folder Options / File Types" and double-click on "Internet Shortcut", I have the following within the "Advanced" settings (for the "open" action):
Action: open
Application used to perform action: rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l
"Use DDE" is checked...
"DDE Message" is blank...
"Application" is "shdocvw"...
"DDE Application Not Running" is blank...
"Topic" is "System"
Again, I think the root problem here is to do with the profiles and how they're handled when being opened with Firefox but I can't discern how to apply a fix with all this as I've obviously goobered this up a bit. I would really appreciate some professional knowledge on this and would prefer to avoid any reinstalls of anything if possible.

To save your sanity with this issue, my advice is to find a method other than desktop shortcuts to open those URL's.
1. Desktop shortcuts are going to open the Default Browser.
a. With multiple versions of Firefox installed that would be the last version that was installed when you have Firefox set as the Default Browser in Windows..
b. The Default Browser is going to use the Profile that shows a Default=1 in the profiles.ini file.
c. The Default Browser with the Default Profile isn't going to open if you have any other versions of Firefox already running, and the -no-remote command line parameter doesn't work in this situation.
2. The use of multiple Profiles and multiple versions isn't officially supported by Mozilla, and all the Bug reports that I have ever read about Requests for Enhancement have been WONTFIX'd by the developers. Basically we have to work with the limitations in Firefox and maybe improvise work arounds by ourselves. I've even seen a few threats about removing Profiles altogether in RFE Bug reports about Profiles.
I have had so many problems over the years with this Default Browser / Default Profile thing over the years that personally I find it easier to just set Opera as the Default Browser in Windows rather than have a Profile get b0rked because some other program I am using decides it wants to open the Default Browser unexpectedly. I don't use Opera for much, but it is a lot better than IE for purposes of being the Default Browser, considering the quirks I have seen with Firefox and multiple Profiles.
I have written a number of postings over at the MozillaZine Builds forum over the years about installing multiple versions of Firefox and using multiple Profiles. There's a lot of tips and comments provided by other multiple Profile users in one of those threads. Why don't you read those threads and see if it gives you some ideas or solutions I haven't thought of.

• New windows in Firefox 29 on Windows 8.1 don't open fully maximized when clicked through a link

New problem in firefox 29:
When I click a link that opens the new page in a new window, the window pops open in the last partially maximized state that it was in. Should I maximize the new window (in Windows 8.1) and close it and re-click the original link, the window opens again in the partially maximized state, not the last fully maximized state that I previously closed it in.
To create it as I've encountered it:
-go to https://news.google.com
-click on any article. the default behavior should be to open the article in a new window
-the window won't be maximized in my experience
-you can maximize the window and then close the window/ article
-re-click on the same article and the new window should appear again in the non-maximized state, not the fully maximized state that you closed it in previously
One point of note. Right-clicking the same link that opens the new window and specifically choosing "Open Link in New Window" DOES open the new window in a fully maximized state. I repeat, the new window does open fully maximized when you choose "Open Link in New Window" from the right-click drop downs menu. But, this doesn't happen with the simple left-click, which I'm concerned with.

Reverted back to version 28.0, 29 just isnt working, layout is a mess. (Ok i got the old layout back by installing and setting up Classic Theme Restorer, but once you remove the orange title bar, the screen resize bug appears.) Also its a very bad thing such a large graphical overhaul took place without prior notice. If i wanted google Chrome i would have just installed that, dont need FF to provide me with it. Might upgrade again if bugs and layout are changed, otherwise ill stay with 28.0 or maybe start using Waterfox.

• Navigation bar opens new tabs for links on the same site - only newer versions of FireFox does this! Why?

I've used this custom navigation bar for nearly a decade. New versions of FireFox open new tabs when I navigate to different pages on my weather site. Very annoying!!! I've tried turning off tabs, but then it opens NEW WINDOWS! These links ARE NOT ENCODED TO OPEN IN NEW WINDOWS! What is causing this? Looks like I"m going to have to switch to Chrome or go back to IE, since nobody at Mozilla seems to care about this. They seem to think it is a good feature and not a bug. What gave you the right to decide to open new tabs at random times? If I click a link on a site that is on the same site I'm already on, and the link isn't coded for _blank, then it should open in the same window!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

• New windows in firefox

Hello,
Little thing:
Everytime I open a new window in firefox, the new window is a little lower than the one just before it. After a while all the windows are lined up at the bottom and tons of room on top. I'm on a portable computer so I'd like to keep the new windows higher so I don't have to get so close to the keyboard!
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Vik

I agree with you 100%, counterpt. That behavior of Firefox always bugs the heck out of me when I see it. I have become more of a tabber lately and have actually started using Safari more lately, after a long relationship with Camino. But I agree that the way the new window opens down and to the right in Firefox is very bothersome.
Regards,
Steve M.

• Sending instant messages through yahoo email with new version of firefox

i cannot send instant messages through yahoo email in new version of firefox, how do i correct this problem

Hi hwkangel,
This sounds like a known issue reported here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=713014
There was a workaround posted, but I've not tested it myself. Here are the steps.
# Go into Yahoo Messenger Options - Change the Window in the dropdown to Tab and press OK.
# Then go back and switch it to small window and press OK.
The bug has already been fixed. So you can download the FF 10 beta if it is a really important feature for you.
Hopefully this helps!

• NavigateToURL bug in FireFox?

Hi all,
I'm expreiencing a strange bug with FireFox... I have the
following example application:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
layout="absolute">
<mx:Script>

import flash.net.navigateToURL;
private function onClick():void {
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("abc.html"));

</mx:Script>
<mx:Button label="test" click="onClick()"/>
</mx:Application>
So, basically, when I click the "test" button, the browser
should go to "abc.html".
Now, if I run the application locally, it works perfectly as
expected in both IE and FF. But, if I run the application off my
webserver (Apache2), then IE still works perfectly, but FF doesn't.
The behaviour I get in FF is as follows: when I click on the
button, roughly half of the time it will work as expected (ie opens
"abc.html" in a new tab), and the other half of the time FF
displays a "FireFox prevented this site from opening a popup
window" message.
Now the fact that this only occurs when the application is
served remotely is obviously due to FF's security model. But the
weird part (bug?) is that the "blocking" occurs randomly. If I just
click the "test" button a dozen times (slow or fast) the result
will be around half a dozen new windows, with the other half a
dozen blocked :(
So, has anyone experienced this problem before? Can you spot
anything wrong with the code in my example above? I've tried the
example on another PC, and it has exactly the same problem - both
PC's are running FireFox 1.5.
Any thoughts would be really appreciated.
Paul.

Hi leotemp, thanks for you reply. I've had a play with the
IFrame approach in the past, and it introduces some other problems
for the type of app I'm writing (can't really say what that app is
yet).
I've done some more playing with the problem, and how's this
for wierd mis-behaviour? ... I wrote an openNewWindow() JavaScript
function and placed it into the HTML wrapper that loads the swf
file. Then, if I call that function using navigateToURL, the same
problem occurs. But if I call that function using
ExternalInterface.call("openNewWindow","abc.html") then it *almost*
works... you see, the ExternalInterface version works well if the
call is made from a click handler (like the example above), but
unfortunately, I need it to work in the result handler of a SOAP
service call... and there, it is blocked again! Though this time
the blocking is a lot more consistant... ie it blocks about 9 out
of 10 tries :(
I'm assuming that the problem is due to FF trying to
differentiate between popups that are the direct result of user
clicks, versus popups that result from automatic scripts - blocking
the latter, but not the former.
Any other ideas?!
Paul.

• Preview.app new bug : stops opening new files

Starting a couple weeks ago, perhaps with my update to iLife 09 or perhaps related to a recent system update, Preview.app has a new bug for me.
If I open a few files (jpg, pdf, etc) with Preview.app, it will mysteriously stop opening new files. Double clicking the files in Finder, using Preview->Menu->File->Open, or any "open with..." functionality causes Preview to get the focus (come forward) but the file does not open.
I am not able to make it happen consistently with any set of files, but it is not any single file causing the problem. I've had this happen every day for the last couple weeks and it is now moved from annoyance to extreme annoyance.
If I close Preview.app and restart it, the same file that would not open will open fine. I have not been able to narrow this down, but I see this in Console:
4/17/09 2:12:29 PM Fri Apr 17 Preview[11193] * -[NSCFArray insertObject:atIndex:]: attempt to insert nil
As I said, the main thing I've changed recently is installing iLife 09. I'll continue to try to create a replicatable test set, but so far it seems more mercurial than that
Anyone else seeing this?

Well, let me describe it a different way. I do not believe there is any way permissions for the files I'm opening could have anything to do with this.
1) I open a jpg with preview, leave preview.app running
2) I go do something else
3) I open a PDF in firefox, it opens preview with the pdf
4) I go do something else
5) I open a jpeg with preview
6) I try to open another jpeg with preview and it does not open.
7) No file of any sort, even the same file I opened in step 1 or 5 will now open in Preview. Preview.app is now completely unable to open new files.
Generally, I leave Preview.app running. This bug makes that completely non-functional. It also means I can't use preview.app to compare images side by side because it so often won't open the images after a dozen or so files get opened during its process-life.

I installed the new edition of Firefox, but now am unable to use Downloadthemall application. Please advise.

Does the rest of the extensions list look accurate, and are the enabled/disabled groups correct? I wonder whether your extensions database has become corrupted. In the past, I have seen instructions to rename or delete certain files in your Firefox profile (settings) folder, but rather than copy and paste here, I think it's better to wait for someone more familiar with this area.
