New EDW to start use SAP or BO?

Good day all.
We are on the brink of starting a new EDW implementation for our company.
We were going to use the BI toolset from SAP.
With the planned product roadmap for SAP and BO what will be the best road to follow?
My points of concern are the following:
Develop with SAP BI, that will be basically be replaced or incorporated into the new Products which are mostly BO.
Train users on SAP BI and the retrain them just as they got used to it on the new tools.
Will it not make more since to develop the EDW in BO as this will lead to the minimum impact on Development and Users?

BI is to me basically a DSS system or Decision Support System. The data and tools in it should be Business Friendly and the Data contained in it based on Business Requirements. It should be an easy to use Business tool, and if you compare SAP and BO their is a huge difference.
To my mind you identify the Business Questions, source the data through ETL and Load it into a Database. Then you develop your reports and dashboards with maximum user involvement and deploy the system.
As SAP is not a RDBMS why use Net weaver for ETL? Why have 60 caracter limitations on fields?
Can we not use DI as the ETL tool and load data directly into star schemas on the underlying Database and plug the rich reporting layer of BO onto that?
DI has a far lower TCO than SAPBI. In BW 3.5 you had the PSA the ODS and then the Info cube. In BI7 you can skip some of these and load data directly to the Info Cube ... basically the ETL process in SAP changed, to be more on par with what was happening in the rest of the BI world.
I believe that SAP will dramatically change their BI applications as BO is more in tune with the users and the industry. Because BO was designed to be platform independent they have industry knowledge from a wider community, standards, and methodologies than SAP.
The "Extended Star Schema" in an Info cube can be out performed by the normal Star and Snowflake schema design any day. Why spend additional Money on the BI accelerator that is basically a second server to increase performance because you have too many joins in your info cube? I am sure this will also evolve as time goes by.
Why not use the functionality of your RDBMS for true OALP, all an Info cube is, is a 3rd normal form design. MDX cubes in SQL and Power play Cubes in Cognos and are real OLAP, not ROLAP as an Info Cube. A Cube should be an exactly that an data structure that contains all the data and their intersections pre calculated, that allow instantaneous results when you slice and dice them.
The only way to get that performance on an Info cube is with BI Accelerator and highly aggregated data.
Bi should be easy for Developers and end-users to develop. Why should you use ABAP to program transformations when the same task can be completed within seconds in DI through a modular graphical interface?
Think of the amount of coding that will be used to create a Web Report in SAP that has build in What if capabilities on the fly like in BO. In BO that report will take minutes to develop in SAP hours if you are lucky.
What will have the lowest TCO?

Problem in starting using SAP after installation

I installed the 'Web application server' from SAP NetWeaver 7.0 Java Trial Version.
But when I am starting the server, nothing happens.
Is the problem because I have not installed SAP Netweaver Developer Studio. How do i install that?

The password has to be OS user password (given during installation) or windows logon password

I am the new in SAP MDM, So Pls. guide me how to I start learning SAP MDM, what is the easy reference book with example or any document that guide me step by steps. Can I install Dummy SAP MDM server at our home for learning purpose.

I'm really, really confused and I'd appreciate some advice. I came here after searching for information on merging two apple IDs so let me start my saying that I understand that I cannot do this. I get that. The FAQ says I just need to start using my preferred Apple ID from now on. How exactly do I do this? Is it as simple as logging in with the preferred ID next time I purchase something? If I do that, what would happen to all my purchases under the old Apple ID the next time I sync my devices?
Here is the background to my situation:
I created an Apple ID when I first got an iPod many years ago. It was my e-mail address at the time. All my iTunes purchases have been made with that ID.
I bought my first Mac a couple of years ago. At the same time I purchased a MobileMe subscription. My MobileMe subscription was later converted to an iCloud account.
I'm no longer with the ISP that provided me with the e-mail address used for my first Apple ID. My only e-mail account is now my me.com address.
I tried to change my Apple ID to my new e-mail address but it said it couldn't be done because my me.com e-mail is already in use.
All my iTunes receipts go to my old e-mail address that I no longer have access to. I'd like my receipts to go to my me.com address.
I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch (all synced through iCloud), I also have an iPod Shuffle.
In order to get my iTunes and App Store receipts to go to my me.com address, I think the FAQs are telling me that I need to start using my me.com address as my preferred Apple ID. It seems to gives me an option of changing my e-mail address for communications but as soon as it realises that it is a me.com address it says I can't do it.
I'm concerned that if I just make make my next purchase with my me.com ID the next time I sync my devices I'll just have one song on there rather than my entire library. Can somebody please guide me through this?

You need to retain the ID you are currently using for iTunes in order to retain access to your purchases. You should go to http://appleid.apple.com and log in using the iTunes ID, and add a contact address there - you could get a GMail account (free). You may be able to forward mail on from GMail to your @me.com address, I'm not sure about that.
You can continue to use the ex-MobileMe ID for iCloud - there is no problem about using two IDs in this way.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Your music will ONLY be where you put it.
It will not magically appear anywhere.
You buy one and only one download. it is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your music.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
Leaving your e-mail address on a public forum may not be wise.

How do I sync a new iPad that I've already started using, and don't want to lose the data?

I have a new-ish iPad that I have started using without syncing to iTunes.
I now need to sync iBooks, if that is possible, with my iPhone. I gather that the best way to do this is to link the iPad and iPhone up with iTunes.
When I plug the iPad into my iMac, it appears as though it will delete all the existing content on my iPad as it thinks it is a brand new, unused iPad. I don't want this.
How do I connect the iPad to iTunes for the first time, without it erasing what I already have on it?

Sadly, none of this works.
I have backed up using PhoneView and iCloud. When I plug the iPad in, I can't access anything other than a binary option that says 'set up as a new iPad' or restore from a previous back-up. Sadly, none of the iCloud back-ups that I have done from my iPad appear in the list.
Looking at the list provided above, I can only do steps 1-3.

- This doesn't work. A pop-up appears saying that I have already authorised 4 devices. It won't let me do anything else with this.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your iTunes library).
- Greyed out - can't do this.
- None of the things below therefore work either.
6. Right click your phone in the left device pane & select "Reset warnings".
7. Right click again and select "Backup".
8. Right click again & select "Restore from Backup", select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your iTunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select "Merge".

The Apple TV (with the exception of the Apple TV 1) does not sync, it streams everything from your library on your computer or from the internet.

Anything you downloaded with the first Apple Id will forever be tied to it, and will always require it to update.
The question here is, why did you think you needed to create a new Apple ID? What was the problem with the first one?
To get rid of th old one, you'll need to delete everything you downloaded with it, and then sign out of the ID in several places around the iPad.
Go to Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID->Sign out.
Repeat the process, for Facetime, Messages, Mail and any other App you need to sign out of.

I have all tabs set to open with Google search, but when I open a new tab and start typing, the letters appear in the address bar and not the Google search bar. It didn't used to be like this!

One of my set of home pages is the basic Google search page. When I open this, I can immediately start typing and the words appear in the Google search box.
If however I open a new tab (white cross far right of tab bar) and start typing, the words appear in the address bar, not in the Google search box. Of course once I click in the search box I can carry on: but I'd like to make it start there as it does with the homepage.

If you want a specific webpage (like the Google page) to always open when you open a New Tab, you can use the following add-on to Open New Tabs with your Favorite Pages:

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe mode:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut

If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

i got my new iphone a week ago. i started using it straight away, before i knew about icloud and that i could sync all my contacts, etc to the new phone. i then turned on icloud for contacts - this worked fine. today i tried putting my music onto my phone. i clicked 'recognise a B's iphone' in itunes - this has synced music and apps. the only problem is that i have lost all my text messages from the last week. the phone is showing old messages from december 2012 only! can i delete these and get my recent messages back??

You did more than sync the new iPhone with iTunes since syncing with iTunes does not include text messages.
The first time a new iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or set up the device as a new iPhone.
The former replaces all data on the iPhone that is included with the selected backup for the other iPhone or iOS device. The latter does not.
If a backup for your new iPhone was not created with iCloud or if created and has been updated since the backup was transferred from the other iPhone or iOS device, the previous data on the new iPhone is gone.

Hi Larry. I see. It is a file I have worked on previously, and the font is Myriad which I though came with the system. I just changed to Myriad Pro and the pink box disappeared. Thanks for the assistance, I know a new thing!
