Anybody else wondering about this? Has anyone else with XP w/32 bit, downloaded the new Java update in plugins and are you running okay?
I want to update my Java plugin, but am waiting to see if others with XP, 32 bit have updated and how it works for them.
Thanks!Zukki, just go to your tools, addons and addon manager. It will bring you to your plugin page, and on the left top, in very small print, it has a link to check if your plugins are updated.
Oh, I left this open so that Zukki can see how to check to see if his update worked, Andy. I'll click that you solved it, once he gets a chance to see where to find the plugin update status.
Thanks for the link, Andy...the only reason I crashed is that I have very limited RAM. I need to look into buying more and am going to next week. Another topic for discussion! :) -
National characters and new Java API
Hi All,
I'm looking for your experience with new java api and national characters (like: ü, ś, ć, etc.). The problem is that when record was updated using MDM Data Manager, and retrieved using new java api - national character are invalid (in java string the national character are represented incorrectly).
It's strange due to fact that when I create or update this record from java API it's looks fine. Second finding is that old java api (MDM4J) works fine on text fields with national characters.
Maybe I forget to set something in server configuration / repository / or on java api connection - any help appreciated...
Regards, marcinWhile retrieving data via the Java API 2,
you should set the Unicode Normalization after the user session is authenticated.
I guess this is available in SP5 patch.
The documentation for this is available at
https://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/current/index.html
Package: com.sap.mdm.commands
SetUnicodeNormalizationCommand cmd = new SetUnicodeNormalizationCommand(connectionAccessor);
cmd.setSession(userSession);
<b>cmd.setNormalizationType</b>(SetUnicodeNormalizationCommand.NORMALIZATION_COMPOSED);
cmd.execute();
This command is used to set the Unicode normalization. This is used for the lifetime of the session. It should be set after the session is authenticated.
Unicode normalization is important when a text string is represented differently depending on the normalization used. The MDM server always store text strings in one normalization format. An user providing a text string to the MDM server and later on tries to retrieve back the same text string might get the text string back in a different normalization. To resolve this issue, the user can use this class to specify the normalization the user wants to work with. The MDM server will always return text strings in the normalization specified by this class. -
Creating a new position and updating IT 1028 using HCM processes and forms
I have to create a new position and update the related infotypes using the design time framework of HCM processes and forms. The problem I am facing is the info type 1028 is not a part of the de coupled infotype framework and does not appear in the service fields list. How can I update the infotype 1028? I was thinking of updating it using the FLUSH method of the class implementing the ADV services interface IF_HRASR00GEN_SERVICE_ADVANCED by calling the function module RH_INSERT_INFTY. But, how do I get the position ID created? Is there any other way of achieving this? Please help as soon as possible.
HI
Create one Function Module to return all the vacant positions and load that in a drop down.
For IT1028 you have to update via the RH_INSERT_INFTY.
Kind Regards,

Does anyone know if I can download this version of Java - for OS X 2012-005 - the new Java update is a total mess for me and is preventing me from working remotely... :-( really need to go back to older Java, don't have the Time Machine set up ... Thx
I wonder if it's a variation of this, of which I've seen many different symptoms...
http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/TS4135/TS4135_01-osx _1072-login_window-001-en.png
Resolution
Move the mouse or trackpad cursor over the center area of the login window so you can see the user icons. Click on the icon of the user that you would like to login as, type in the user's password, and press Return.
If the login window is configured to show only the name and password fields, type in the user's name and password into the fields, and press Return (even if you cannot see the rest of the login window).
Additional Information
This issue will not occur if the display is not sleeping when the account is logged out. Use the steps below to confirm that the account is not configured to log out automatically while the display is sleeping:
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. Click the padlock to unlock the preference pane and enter your admin password. Click the Advanced button at the bottom, then see if the option "Log out after N minutes of inactivity" (where N is the number of minutes) is enabled.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and configure Display Sleep to occur after the account is logged out, by dragging the slider to a number of minutes that is greater than N was set to in the previous step.
Important: If automatic log out is not needed, disable "Log out after Nminutes of inactivity" in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General. This will also prevent the issue.

Typing in Safari with the new Java update that I downloded today causes the spinning beach ball and slow loading of pages. As usual, Java is causing problems. Just once I would like to see things run without having to depend on Java.

I think there's something more, because it keeps happening to me with the Finder where it says that it is not responding when I go to the Force Quit window.
Are you saying that the Finder is reported as not responding? If yes, try this:
Go to Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.finder.plist
Drag com.apple.finder.plist to desktop
Restart computer.
Monitor to see if anything changes, or Finder is still not responding.
Good luck.

i've setup a new account on my PC and its lost all my songs apart form 14 of them and i can only see my apps that were already on my iphone and ipad and also i cant download my songs/apps that i already own.
You have to download the iPhone version of the app - if there are two different versions and if you do not want to pay for the iPad version.
Look in the App Store for the iPhone version and then try to download that one, -
Default applets on brand new java card and spec support
Hi,
I have got brand new java card reader and real java card.
I want to just access it using Java and see if I can access stuff on the java card before i go ahead with next things.
I was thinking of just doing select on some applet which is present on brand new java card by default.
1. Does anyone know if any default applet is present on java card?
2. If yes, AID of that?
3. Is there any APDU by which I can find out which java card spec that card supports?
Btw, I am using Java Card 2.2.2 and the card i have should also have same support.
Edited by: unic.man on Jul 12, 2008 2:11 AM>
1. I know that any smart-card has a universally unique id which can be retrieved pro grammatically. Can you please tell me the APDU/API to retrieve it on Host app side? If not, card side at least?
I don't know much about unique IDs but basically you've got the ATR which is given to you every time the card is powered on. The ATR identifies a particular family of cards. If you want to identify each card you need to have a look at the GET DATA command (in Global Platform) and especially the CPLC (Card Production Life Cycle). Apparently you can get a unique ID by combining the IC batch identifier and the IC serial number.
2. I'm also struggling with deploying the app. It is not detecting the default installer applet via apdutool. I found some articles and netbeans plug-in talking about keys to download applet on card. Do you know standard keys/derivated keys to start secured channel?I don't think you can use the JCDK to install an applet on a real card. If you have a JCOP card I advise you to get the JCOP tools. And yes you will need the keys to establish a secure channel but I don't know what the default keys are on a JCOP card. -
New script fixes ExternalInterface() and FORMs
After many hours of frustration with this ExternalInterface()
in a FORM tag in IE problem, I have written a script that fixes
this issue before the SWF loads and therefore generates zero
javascript errors and allows the ExternalInterface() to function
properly.
The script is called SWFFormFix.js and is available from my
blog here:
Steve
Kamerman's Blog - SWFFormFix
I made a few pages with some examples of the problems that
people run into with ExternalInterface() and forms on IE, and a
demonstration of SWFFormFix in action:

The Oracle guys feel you need to write a script and it cannot ne performed from SSMS.... has anyone completed this process. If so, please let me know what I am missing.
Hi Charlie,
Firstly, you can use SSMS maintenance plans to perform availability database backup on replicas. However, please note that there are some known issues with using the maintenance plans on Availability Groups as the ones defined in this blog:
Maintenance Plan Does not Backup Database or Log of Database Defined in Availability Group.
Secondly, regarding to above error message, besides other post, please also check that
if you have the correct path for the backup files. You can run the following command to make sure you can see the file in the operating system:
Xp_cmdshell 'dir J:\Backup\forms\forms_backup_2015_03_16_154013_0667087.bak'
Thirdly, to implement effective backups on Availability Group, you can also customize you own stored procedure to backup the database and create SQL Server agent jobs on each replica. For more details, please review this blog:
Backing Up SQL Server Databases Participating In AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
There are also some articles about configuring backup on Availability Replicas for your reference.

JavaFX 8 and new Java 8 libraries
JavaFX 2 was clearly designed with an eye on new features coming in Java 8, particularly lamba expressions. As a result, there are some JavaFX APIs which have anticipated Java 8 library enhancements. For example, the javafx.util.Callback interface is basically identical to the proposed java.util.function.Function interface (see [url http://cr.openjdk.java.net/~briangoetz/lambda/sotc3.html]here or [url http://sett.ociweb.com/sett/settFeb2013.html]here).
Are there plans to retrofit JavaFX APIs to support the new Java 8 libraries (so I can pass a Function instead of a Callback to a setCellFactory(...) method)? It would seem to make sense to unify around the new Java APIs rather than having JavaFX versions of them. Should we expect Callback to eventually be deprecated in favor of Function?I guess I was envisioning scenarios where a (FX agnostic) business layer exposed Functions for manipulating data in the model. But I suppose "converting" these to Callbacks becomes completely trivial using function references... I was still thinking with my Java 7 hat on.
It still seems a bit unwieldy to have different core APIs replicating identical functionality, though. -
Have tried both installing Java 8, unistalling it and a version of Java 7 uppd. 67 that doesn´t seem to exist, but still is there... I´ve tried restarting my computer, activating plug in for Java 8, but I still get the message that I Need a plug-in to be able to show content.

Java 1.8.0_31 for Solaris Sparc missing Firefox plugin
Until now I didn't realize that Oracle planned to deprecate (Oracle) Solaris in favor of Linux.
Since updates to Java 7 will be ending in April 2015, I thought it would be a good idea to migrate to Java 8. I installed Java 1.8.0_31 on our Solaris 10 server and then tried to configure the Java plugin for Firefox. Low and behold! It is no longer supplied with the Java installation. Apparently, when Oracle removed 32-bit support for java in Solaris, they removed Java Web Start (javaws.jar) and the Firefox plugin (libnpjp2.so) with it. As I searched the web in vain for a solution, I recall that additional java functionality has been removed from the Java 8 build for Solaris as well, but I can't recall what they are right now.
Of course, Linux remains fully supported!! Too bad we invested in an all-Oracle solution for our aging Oracle Forms applications. I guess now we need to stay on Java 7 until we can migrate off the high performance (Oracle) Solaris dinosaur to a better supported Linux platform. Thanks Oracle for providing no risk solutions.
I've submitted a ticket to Oracle Support regarding how to get past this issue, but I thought I'd throw it out here too:
How can I run a java app (like Oracle Forms) using Firefox on Solaris without a Java plugin?Obviously Sun (excuse me, Oracle) does not intend to support the solaris-10/sparc/firefox-3.6 combination. Firefox 3.6 requires the NPAPI and/or NPRuntime interfaces to java, but oracle does not provide the new "libnpjp2.so" java plugin with the jre-6u18-sparc-solaris java download.
A search at www.oracle.com does not turn up any support announcement about this. You have to learn it the hard way. :(
If you want to continue to use sparc-solaris, downgrade to firefox-3.5 so you can use the old libjavaplugin_oji.so module. Otherwise run Linux or Mac OS X to stay in the unix camp. -

Forms Feature Obsolescence for 9i:
The Oracle Forms product suite has been around for many years now, and whenever
possible, has faithfully maintained compatibility with older product versions. With
the move to pervasive Web deployment and the release of Oracle Forms version 9i, we
are simplifying the product set and continuing to optimize the product for building
and deploying Internet applications. Read our new Obsolescence Paper at:

Is the problem here that you get a value error when calling the FileUploader package - if this is the issue then simply do a global search and replace in FileUpload.pll to change 256 to 512, then the variables should be long enough for Double Byte. If you're using Unicode then change all the 256's to 1024 to be safe.
The Java Code for the utility does not have any constrained lengths so I expect the problem is in the PL/SQL.
If this works then let me know and I'll amend the demo and re-post it. -
Adobe HCM Processes and Forms Start processes iView error
Hi,
We are implementing Adobe HCM processes. The forms based on the PCR technology are working fine. However, we want the new HCM Processes and Forms technology. We have implemented Business packages for MSS, HR Administrator and XSS (PC_GUI). ADS is configured correctly as the PCR Adobe forms are working fine.
We want to use the WebDynpro version of HCMPF and NOT the ABAP version. When starting the Start Processes IView (sap.com/paasrprocst) we get the error:

Can anyone tell me more about the cause this might have? Also, are there any further prerequisites for this iView to work?
Any help will be appreciated and rewarded accordingly.

Thomashello,

Forms services and form builder
Hi,
We are installing Oracle Forms 10g Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. What is difference between
Form Services and Form Builder. Which one developer should be used for migration,qa purpose?
Thanks
sandySandy,
Oracle Forms Services is a part of the Oracle Application Server and is used by the apps server to display a Form built with Oracle Forms. Forms run inside a Java container in a Web Browser (Internet Explorer, etc.).
Oracle Forms Builder is a Rapid Application Development (RAD) tool used for creating user interface applications. Your developer will use the Forms Builder to create new or modify existing Forms applications.
I'm not sure what you mean by Migration and QA. Are you migrating from an older version of the Forms Builder? As to QA, who ever is performing the QA would need the Forms Builder only if they need to look at the PL/SQL code in a Form for standards compliance, proper logic, etc.
Hope this helps.
Craig...
