Newbie question: sqlca.sqlcode positive or negative?

Good afternoon,
we have a database based application, launching SQL queries on an Oracle 8.1.7 database.
These queries return sqlca.sqlcode values, like 0 in case of succesful and 1403/-1403 in case of unsuccesful.
Exactly the latter is a problem: the whole application is based on the following condition:
sqlca.sqlcode = 0 => OK
sqlca.sqlcode < 0 => NOK
This works fine on our test lab, where the return values are always negative (-1403) in case of a "not found", but it seems that at client's side, sometimes a positive value (1403) pops up, resulting in a bad behaviour.
My question: is it possible to configure Oracle in such a way that the return codes are always negative (in order for us not to change the whole application)?
Thanks
Dominique

Thanks for the fast reply.
The mentioned solution however doesn't work:
1. The problem is not that I always have a positive value, but sometimes a positive and sometimes a negative one, so multiplying with -1 would just turn bad results into good ones and vice versa.
2. Moreover in order to change the value of the code, I would need to change the application, and I am looking for a way in which I don't need to do so. I am looking for an Oracle parameter that prevents differents signatures for the same SQL return codes.
Kind regards
Dominique

  • Newbie question about palettes positioning...

By default, the swatch and layers palettes are open and located on the right of the screen... and while playing around with the program, I seem to have "unlodged" these windows so that the open document now goes UNDER the palettes. And it's very annoying. The palettes are now floating above the document, even if I move them back into their original space.
How do I recreate the gutter that originally was holding these palettes?

You can arrange each panel and group of panels in the workspace however you like with your mouse. Hold down left click and slide around!  Right click on a group icon and you will get a drop down menu of options.
You should be able to left click and slide it back into place to re-dock into the workspace, otherwise reset the work space by selecting whichever workspace preset you want to use.
In the event you don't already know,
On the top of the Photoshop window on the right side, if you don't have them tucked away, should be some workspace presets. Esentials, Design, Painting, Photography, etc. If you do have them tucked away you can pull them out with your mouse.   You can also find the preset workspaces under  Window / Workspace >
Essentials is the default which will have the Color-Swatches-Styles group placed at the top of the workspace.
The Design and Painting presets will also place the swatches panel back into the upper right side of the work space panel.
You can also customize the workspace by selecting what you want in your workspace panel by clicking Window / and then checking everything you want in your panel. You can choose to save your customized work space via Windows / Work Space / New Work Space.  Give it a name and save

  • Positive and Negative Frequency deviation Calculation

    Hi ,
Iam using PXI 5600 with PXI 5620 for RF measurement.
I need to measure Positive and Negative frequency Deviation. The NI example vi "MT RFSA Demodulate FM.vi" gives peak Frequency deviation . Can any one please help me to find positive Frequency Deviation and Negative frequency deviation from it
    Thanks,
    Niju.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Niju,
First things first - the 5600+5620 combined is what we refer to as a PXI-5660 RF Signal Analyzer.
The PXI-5660 cannot be progammed via the NI-RFSA driver. The Modulation Toolkit FM example you reference is for the PXI-5661 and PXIe-5663 analyzers, both of which use the NI-RFSA driver.
You should use MT ni5660 Demodulate FM.vi, located under ni5660 examples.
    Now on to your question...
When you perform an FM demodulation, the resultant data out of the MT Demodulat FM subVI is frequency vs. time, with the frequency (Y axis) values being relative to the specified carrier frequency. So, the data is frequency deviation (Hz) vs. time. All you need to do to get positive and negative frequency deviation is to use a LabVIEW Array Max & Min primitive from the Array functions pallette. This will give you the min and max value of the FM data which will be the peak negative and peak positive frequency deviation.

  • Positive and Negative Sign

    Hello everyone,
May I know why the standard freight cost is negative sign in SD but positive sign in COPA.
Also sales and various kind of cost are showing positive sign in COPA. No negative sign in COPA?
    Thank you.
    Regards.

    Hello,
It is also possible to transfer conditions from MM to update billing data in pooled payment in the Information Systems (IS) retail system. These are transferred according to the same rules as SD conditions. Conditions from SD are always transferred to COPA with + signs, with the exception of credit memos and returns.  The reasons for this is that the signs for revenus are handled differently in the different applications of the system.  For example, revenus are positive in SD, while they are negative in FI. Consequently, COPA accepts all of the values as positive, and then subtracts deductions and costs from revenues in IS.
Note that indicator transfer +/- is not used to compare the different use of +/- signs between FI or SD and COPA.  If you active the indicator, only the positive and negative values for the condition in question will be balanced.  This guarantees that the sum of the negative and positive condition values are displayed as a correct total value in the value field asigned to that condition.
In order to perform transfer conditions from the billing documents the same definitions must be established for the value fields in Profitability Analysis and both pricing and conditions types must be defined in SD.
    Regards,
    Ravi

  • Is there a way to count the number of times an array moves from positive to negative?

I have an array of values, and I need to find the number of times that the array changes signs (from positive to negative, or vice versa). In other words from a graphical standpoint, how many times a certain line crosses the x-axis. Counting the number of times the array equals zero does not help however, because the array does not always equal exactly zero when it crosses the axis (ie, the points could move from .1 to -.1).
Thanks for you help. Feel free to email me at [email protected] I only have lv 5.1.1 so if you attach any files, they cannot be version 6.0.

Attached is a VI showing the # of Pos and Neg numbers in an array, with 0 considered as non-Pos. It is easily modifiable to other parameters - including using the X-axis value as your compare point versus only Zero.
This is a modified VI from LV (Separate Array.vi)
Compare this with your other responses to find the best fit.

  • Total Newbie Question ... Sorry :-(

I know it's a windows thing, and I am now converted to Mac but I gotta know this because it's doing my head in. It's a complete stupid green gilled newbie question.
When installing new programs on a Mac can you create shortcuts to the programs on the Dock? I did what I THOUGHT it would be, i.e I made an Alias and stuck it in the dock, but on rebooting my Mac later on, in place of the shortcuts where 3 question marks which when clicked on did absolutely nothing???
    Help?

You aren't installing something from a dmg file are you? The dmg is a disk image – kind of a virtual CD. So when you double click the dmg and then get the little disk/hardrive/custom icon on your desktop that is the same as if you had mounted a CD. You then need to drag the application off of that "CD" into your application folder. Then it is truly installed.
You can then "eject" the icon your your desktop. This is what happens when you shutdown and without remounting the image your dock shortcut can't find the original.
    Just a thought.

  • Newbie Question about FM 8 and Acrobat Pro 9

    Hello:
I have some dcouments that I've written in FM v8.0p277. I print them to PDF so that I can have a copy to include on a CD and I also print some hard copies.
My newbie question is whether there is a way to create a  PDF for hard copy where I mainitain the colors in photos and figures but that the text that is hyperlinked doesn't appear as blue. I want to keep the links live within the soft copy. Is there something I can change within Frame or with Acrobat?
    TIA,
    Kimberly

    Kimberly,
How comes the text is blue in the first place? I guess the cross-reference formats use some character format which makes them blue? There are many options:
Temporarily change the color definition for the color used in the cross-reference format to black.
Temporarily change the character format to not use that color.
Temporarily change the cross-reference definition to not used that character format.
Whichever method you choose, I would create a separate document with the changed format setting and import those format into your book, create the PDF and then import the same format from the official template.

How can i design square signal which having a positive and negative values equal to each other and separated from each other by controlled time or distance, As it is shown in the figure below. and enter this signal in a daq.

By the time you spend for the nice diadram you might have done the vi
Your DAQ like to have a waveform (array of values and dt ak 1/samplerate)
If you set the samplerate you know the array length , create a array of zeros, and set the values of both amplitudes ...
Since I don't want to wire others homework here are some pictures
And there are some drawbacks is room for improvement in my solution, just think of rounding errors ... and what might happen if the arrays get bigger ....

  • Domain name settings - Newbie question

    Sorry for a newbie question!
I am already pointing a domain name to web hosting for email account. Now, I need an application server to run ERP software and Oracle, and installing Solaris and Oracle need a domain name.
If I point my domain name to the server, how do I receive emails from web hosting???
Install an email server to the application server instead? What can I do if I want the same domain name? Any option?

Setting up a mailserver and making sure it doesn't suddenly turn into a spambox is not something you do with the use of a few commands. I suggest to dive into the Solaris admin guide on docs.sun.com and read up on e-mail and network services.
If that is asking too much of your time you'll be better off getting your ISP to handle all this for you.

Your questions are completely off-topic for the forum.
These SunOS forums are for questions on <i>"how do I install my OS"</i>
You particular question is in the <i>"how can I install Solaris while using the CD drive"</i> forum.
So, if you had a question on how to edit the /etc/inet/hosts file to establish a FQDN on the computer, then it might be appropriate for the forum.

  • Numeric Integration of positive and negative values in the same signal

Hello.. I need to perform an evaluation of Area Under Curve of my signal, but it contains positive and negative values. I am using the "Numeric Integration" function, but the result expressed by my VI represent: AREA OF POSITIVE VALUES - AREA OF NEGATIVE VALUES, in other words, my result represent the difference between these two areas. But I want to know the total area, the sum of positive values area and negative values area, and because both values has are "+", my final result should has "+" notation.
    For example:
    Area of positive values: +45.00
    Area of negative values: +34.00
    Total area: +79.00
How do I modify my VI to obtain the total area value?
I try to split my values in two parts:
    A) only the positive and zero values
    B) only the negative values
I calculated the areas of both splits and performed an sum of them, but the final result does not matches with total area (computed by another software to know the real value)
I attached an picture of my VI
    Thank you

Use an event structure for the boolean value changed. You also did not follow Lynn's advice to insert an "absolute value". It would really simplify everything.
Here's how it would look in a newer version of LabVIEW (your icons look different because you have an older version. The functions are the similar).
This is just a draft and the program needs to be improved. Use a state machine with events for read file and another for value change on the sampling rate. Place the data array in a shift so you can change the sampling rate without the need to re-read the file. Modify as needed.
    Some important pointers in general:
There is NO need to constantly spin the loop every nanosecond. The only time the loop needs to spin if if one of the inputs has changed.
If you don't use an event structure, all UI loops need a wait to conserve CPU.
Never (almost never) use "switch until released". Typically you want to use "latch when released" which makes the terminal true exactly once until the value is read and it will revert to false after that. "switch until released acts like a doorbell, so if it werent for the file dialog, you would execute the case several times in a row.
You don't need to get the array size and wire N of the FOR loop if you are autoindexing. LabVIEW will spin the loop until it runs out of elements automatically.
There is an atomic operation for "negate" in the numeric palette. No need to multiply with a "-1" diagram constant.
There is an atomic operation for ">=0" in the comparison palette. No need to compare with a "0" diagram constant.
Use a stop button on the loop termination.
Everything that only needs to be done once after the file is read (e.g. you inner loop, etc. also belongs inside the case structure. Right?
In general, you would make things much easier for us if you would attach your actual live VI instead of dead images.

  • Newbie Question:  How much computer do I need?

    Newbie Question:
I would like to use MainStage 3 in a live performance environment to play bars, parties, etc.  I'm not looping, using it to playback recordings, processing outboard equipment or vocal processing.  I want to stop carrying Rolands, Nords, Korgs, etc and get to a controller and a rack with a Mac Mini in it.
I tested a download of Mainstage 3 on my home Mac Mini (late 2012, 3.5 Ghz i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB drive) and it seemed to run fairly well.  $30 well invested so I trekked forward... I purchased a Mac Mini (late 2009,  2.52GHz Core 2 Duo, 6GB RAM, 128GB SSD) for $200.  I started to do more elaborate keyboard setups to see how the CPU would hold up.  It typically runs from 30% to 50% of capacity (CPU and Memory)  It actually boots and runs better than the i5.  I hear the occasion gitch, but it actually seems to be getting better in time (or I'm rock and roll deaf.
I got a rack, an Airport Express, a Radial USB interface and a Nektar Panorama P6.  It's starting to get expensive, but I'm emboldened by the actual quality for the sound and the flexibility of arranging for live performance.  What used to take me two and three keyboards to play, I can now fit on one performance patch.
OK, now the question... am I at the limits of this little Core 2 Duo?  Should I upgrade the i5 with more RAM and a bigger SSD and use that?  Should I get a new(er) i7 and bite the $1,500 bullet for the additional RAM and SSD?
I see that most of you are running pretty nice Macbook Pros with i7 and lots of everything.  My needs are modest; am I OK?
BTW, I want to run a Mac Mini in a box because I don't want to carry a laptop out in the open.  If I was doing bigger shows I wouldn't care but I play some rowdy bars and constantly have folks hanging off me while I'm playing.  It's fun, but hard on gear.  If you can't drop it or dip it in beer, it won't last long where I work.
    Matt Donnelly

Rule of thumb: newer and faster is better. But, depending the complexity of your needs you may be OK with an older Mac. Some glitches that happen in a live performance are due to loss of communication with USB or Firewire inputs, so make sure they're secure. I recently upgraded from a 2010 Mac Mini 2.6 dual core with 16 GB RAM, which was used live for nearly four years, to the latest Mac Mini 3.0 i7 with 16 GB RAM and a 500 GB SSD. I was getting an occasional stuck note with the older one. The new one is rock solid. Some of my patches may have up to a dozen channel strips mapped to three keyboards. The Mini is mounted in a rack next to a MOTU Ultralite Hybrid. It is a good idea to map a panic button on your keyboard to controller # 123(all notes off). Also, you might want to invest in a battery backup power supply(APC, Cyberpower, etc.-$40-$60) to protect your Mac against power loss, which can damage you hard drive.
