Newbie Table Nightmare on I.E.
Hi all. I have just finished a website in Dreamweaver using
just the design mode. Time was pushing so I haven't got my head
around HTML yet but it is definitely on my to-do list, especially
after viewing my site in Exoplorer.
The site is contains a lot of tables and I designed it on a
Mac, frequently checking the preview in Firefox and Safari. As soon
as I was happy with it I launched it (www.coletteali.com) and
checked it on I.E. 7 on a PC and the layout is everywhere!
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this I would really
grateful. Thanks in advance.

OK - different pages layout differently - so two initial
things spring
to mind:
To keep the same basic layout - how about doing a template
for the
basic layout -
put
creating Dreamweaver templates
into the Dw help system
to learn more -
Then
Instead of having CSS in each file, move it out to a separate
external
css file.
put
Link to an external CSS style sheet
into the help system.
this will get all the pages looking similar and make testing
and
maintenance so much easier.
Then take it from there

Sorry I'm a newbie here and to website design. I just
installed CS3 with DW (version 9.0) and was trying the Tutorials in
the manual from online.
Tutorial #4 on pg 56 "Creating a table-based page layout".
After you've created the 3 tables (straight forward and are easy
enough), it says to:
1. click on the 1st table, row 1. Go to properties (at the
bottom of the screen) and enter 90 for cell height. press enter. (I
have no problem doing this.)
2. click on on the 1st table, row 2, Go to properties and
enter 166 for cell height and press enter. (no problem)
3. click on the 1st table, row 3, go to properties and enter
24 for the cell height and press enter.
HOWEVER now when I go back to Row 1 the cell height for row 1
is 24. I have tried several different times but it seems that all
rows in the table are going to the latest entry for cell height.
Tutorial seems simple enough, simple idea, but it doesn't work. Is
there a default I need to turn off or something?
It doesn't make sense to me (am a newbie), but if I click in
the 1st table, 1st row and then have to click in the Properties box
at the box there isn't a cursor left in the table... how would the
program know that I only want row 1 changed?
There has to be a simple answer here, but I'll be darned if I
can find it. Help please...Are you supposed to be putting anything into these cells?
Regardless of
whether you put in a height for a row / cell, it will only
shrink or grow
depending on the contents within the cell. The rows are just
shrinking
back to their default height, until you place something
inside them. Also,
if you placed an image into the row that was 28px high and
you entered 24px
for the row height, it would not go down to 24px it would
stay at 28, the
height of the image inside it. Seems like a strange way for a
tutorial to
be written - must be something from the 'old days' :-)
May I recommend instead that you head over to the Adobe site
and read
/practise through the tutorials there. You'll actually learn
the latest way
to develop pages and that is with CSS layout - rather than
using tables.
Nothing wrong with using tables while you start, but as a
fresh beginner,
you may as well start off with using CSS.

Newbie Table Data Source Question
Hi,
I have a question about table data sources. I can set them up OK but I can't find the answers I'm looking for in the documentation or online.
With a table data source, the content column is the one that's indexed right? Are the attribute column sindexed as well? If the content column is null, will the attribute columns still be indexed?

Mark.The attribute column is indexed along with the content column. However, the attribute column will not be indexed if the content column is null. That is, empty document is not indexed.
The workaround is to at least fill in a few space characters to the content column.

ORACLE NEWBIE - table creation
I currently use MySQL, but I am starting work on an application which runs on Oracle 8i. I am in the process of learning 8i, but for now I would like to work on the application in MySQL (since the API is database independant). Is there an easy way to dump the SQL table create statments from the Oracle instance (ie. is the a function equivalent to mysqldump on MySQL)?

This is really a silly question from my "Global security implementation Project"
An issue came up:
How do we access the infotypes in a role , list the infotypes with description for that role
Now this is what I did
1. SE16 - AGR-1251 gives the ouput , filtered by keyword infty and infoty got the list
2. pulled all the infotyes being used in the HR system with its description
3. wrote a lookup to get the infotype and its description specific to that role
Now the fun part is :
the AGR-1251 does not expand the ranges for infotypes having from(LOW) and to(HIGH) value
so i missed out on many infotypes in range, manual entry is not an acceptable path or solution.
Simple question with no answer available so far is
how do you expand the From and to value to get all the infotypes in range in the role?
example below(part of AGR_1251) the low and high column is what I am talking about

My input is what you entered in role is what you get, anyone with a different approach or ideaThe best people to analyse HR authorizations in my opinion are those who understand the data and config. There are a lot of options... so try to work closely together with them otherwise it will be futile.
A little example is P_PERNR. Finding an infotype or range of this can go in all directions and overrides other authorizations. Avoiding ranges is generally good advise anywhere in SAP security....
The executive summary in this case is in the function module HR_READ_INFOTYPE's code if you want to read it...

I should have someone local who can help me, but I don't. Hopefully this forum can!
I'm an old fashioned pen and staff paper composer upgrading to the 21st century because I've been asked to score a 30 minute documentary in May. So after weeks of research, Friday I bought:
-Yamaha S90 ES
-MOTU Ultralite I/O Interface
-KRK RP8 Monitors
-Logic Pro (using Express Trial until it gets here)
various mics, chords, etc.
Also, I'm using a Macbook Pro 2.16ghz - 2g dram for now.
I spent much of Friday and 16 hours yesterday getting to where I now have MIDI & Analog coming from the keyboard, through the MOTU to the computer, back out from the computer through the MOTU to the monitors as sound. (Built an Autoload template file per the Martin Sitter book - Logic Pro 7/Express).
The sound I'm getting this way is weak, probably 1/4 or less of that available when I plug the monitors directly into the keyboard. It's also coming through both the computer and the monitors (which distorts it). I've turned off the computer's sound via it's own preferences, but can't find out how to do it via the Express Trial version. I also have the "Volume" in my Autoload song template at 127.
So for now, two questions - how do I increase the sound level going to the monitors, and how do I get Logic Express to stop expressing sound through my Mac (without just turning off the Mac's sound via Mac preferences)?

Macbook Pro Core Duo 2 Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2 gig SDRAM 2.33 GHZ Core Duo 2Actually, I figure that if you are on an Audio Instrument track, when you play on your S90, you're hearing the soft synth assigned to that track. You're recording midi data from your S90 in a Audio Instrument track and the soft synth from Logic plays it back. If you want to use the sounds of your S90 but keep working the same way, you'll need to use an Instrument track instead. You'll still record midi data on the track but instead of playing it back with a soft synth, you'll send the midi data back to your S90 via midi out. You can assign each midi channel a different track and you have to put your S90 in multi-timbral mode. To be able to hear the S90 in Logic, you'll also need to create an Audio Input track and select your MOTU's inputs related to your S90.

A newbie problem - Why 'ORA-00942: table or view does not exist'
Hi,
I am a newbie having a very basic problem.
I have just created a table by reading in a CSV file.
However when I try to SELECT from it, I get an error message saying :-
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
How can this be when I can see the table name ?
I have tried a couple of things that I found in the Discussion Forum, like 'ALTER SCHEMA' and 'GRANT SELECT'.
Neither seemed sensible because I have just created a table, and sure enough, neither helped.
It's disappointing that something so basic can go wrong.
I will be very grateful for any advice.

Newbie question - parameter selection -- update the table - basic flow?

Newbie here trying to work my way through a 'simple' example for a demo.
I'm currently using a workspace on the Apex web site and have uploaded a table with seven (7) columns of which the first three (3) make up the primary key. This is a copy of an actual Production table so I can't change the PK setup.
What I'm trying to develop as a demonstration of OAE is a Page 1 parameter form that allows the user to input any portion of any or all of the PK values, press the GO button and have Page 2 be a multi-row form showing the results based on the values input on Page 1 and having the user be able to update any of the remaining non-PK columns. After pressing an 'Apply Changes' button to perform the update the user will press a 'New Query' button and go back to Page 1 with the original values cleared out.
It sounds pretty straight forward but I know the 3-column PK creates some headaches.
What I'd like is some guidance on what types of pages I need to create and how to clear out the parameter values.
I was able to create a page with the parameters on it and get them assigned to the session variables but was not able to create the 2nd page that would even just report on the data based on the input parameters.
I don't need the user to be able to add or delete rows, just update existing ones to correct data values.
I'm continuing to go through the documentation and manuals but a little nudge in the right direction would certainly help.

Thanks to your guidance I've made some good progress. I have been able to create a parameter form that will accept part or all of my three (3) PK columns and put those in session variables. a 'GO' button is pressed and the 2nd page comes up which is based on a SQL query using the session variables from the first page and displays multiple rows of data. It even shows the correct data!
I also modified the non-PK column attributes to make them updatable, at least I can over-type what shows up.
The issue I'm struggling with now is how to get the COMMIT to happen to the database. I have an 'APPLY CHANGES' button on my report page and I thought I was relating that to a simple 'COMMIT' PL/SQL page process, but nothing gets committed.
Do I need to code a manual version of a multiple row update (MRU)?
If so, how do I do that?
If not, what basic piece of understanding am I missing?

Ok, forgive me for being a newbie first off.
What I am needing is to create a report using crystal reports that pulls the following data from a Oracle App Suite 10g database at a sister site in my division and matched to data in my Dynamics GP using the item number to add where we shelf the product. Basically, they send a container. We get the invoices a few weeks before the container arrives. We take the invoices and build a spreadsheet so the warehouse can quickly know where to take the product and note what was recieved as expected and what was different. It is a manual process they choose to follow. The problem is that building the spreadsheet manually takes 4 hours. We established this on the old database but they have been upgraded to Oracle with the corporate initiative. We are years down the road. In the mean time, I need to do the same thing over again but we do not have table level experience in house to do this. So I am seeking where are these tables in the Oracle Database so I can write the new report. I am looking at open active invoices as we will not have paid them at the time the report is generated. These are the fields I need so I am guessing I will be needing to hit both a header and line item table. If anyone knows the name of those tables and the schema they are under, that would be a great help.

Newbie - XML File - How to load data and populate tables
Hi,
I'm newbie to XML data handling.
I have a file that is provided in XML format with data from an external system.
I need to load data from that file and populate some field in one or more tables.
I have two options:
1. Load the XML file directly from OS and populate the tables directly (I'm not sure if this is possible or not)
2. Load the entire XML file from OS into a CLOB or a BLOB(?) and the select the data form the CLOB and populate my tables.
I need some guidance about what is possible and how to do it.
My preferred approach if possible is to load the data directly from OS and populate the target tables without loading into the database previously.

Newbie - JDev Missing Entities from Tables (JPA/EJB 3.0) Option
I'm trying to run through the 'Introduction to EJB3.0 Using Oracle JDeveloper and OC4J' tutorial. One of the early steps says to select the 'Entities from Tables' option under the Business Tier/EJB category. I have six options available - CMP Entity Beans from Tables, EJB Data Control Wizard, EJB Diagram for EJB1.1, 2.0 and 2.1, Entity Bean, Message-Driven Bean, and Session Bean.

I was able to get a few steps further down in the tutorial, but hit more stumbling blocks. This probably isn't something for a true java newbie to try. Newb question - table total coming out double
Hi, I'm a newb to BI Publisher, and running in to an issue I can't figure out. I'm trying to output a table that shows # of hours worked by employee for a given month, along with their department, etc. The table part comes out perfectly - works just as I want it to.
But now I want to add a simple total to the hours worked. Somehow the number keeps coming out exactly double of what it should be. Any ideas?
p.s. using MS Word template builder. Also using OBIEE answers query as a data source, which explains all the ugly underscore characters in the field names.
p.p.s. I kinda suspect this is because I'm using two similar queries to produce info - the first query groups rows by a different category, and the one below does it by employee. Is that why numbers are doubling? If so, how can I basically say "give me the sum for the _Quantity_ field - but ONLY for the LABORTRANS rows?

A colleague sent me a spread sheet made on Excel. It's 1036 pages long but only contains a table taking up 2 pages. How do I reduce the size of the "sheet" to just the two pages or something smaller than 1036 pages. Also, how do I print just the table? I'm a newbie at Numbers but seem to recall a feature on Excel that would print an "area". I've been all over the Helps but not finding how to print anything short of all pages. When I go to print, it wants to load all pages even the empty ones. I'm sure this is a simple task but I just can't get a handle on it. Thanks, Craig

Is there an application (preferably freeware) that can do this? Basically the user interface should show the current list of records and allow user to delete existing records or add new records.

RayThis is not a Web interface, but SQL Developer can be used without any Oracle client installation, just a runtime.
And you have iSQL*Plus which allow you to run any query, almost like the overknown SQL*Plus.
By the way, why did you want to allow all your users to modify data without any application ? You may have some problem of data inconsistency for the business logic, if the data are updated without any application code.

I'm very new to Oracle (using Oracle8i currently). I wanted to know if there is a way to get the list of all tables in the database. Like in mySQL you can use the command " show tables" to get the list of all the tables.

will give u all the tables in the database.
all_tables, dba_tables, user_tables
all_objects, dba_objects, dba_objects
there are many, more tables. login as system and query the tab and try to describe the tables.
