Hello,
I want to test working of 5 drivers using labview.i am using NI PXI
6251 and 6509 for generating and receiving signals.At a time i will use
one of these(6251 or 6509) to communicate with a microcontroller.I want
to devolope it like follows.
It should have a main VI in which 5 buttons are present.Testing of each
driver starts with the press of the corresponding button.when a button
is pressed a serial indication will be given to the
microcontroller and it will do the necessary operations on the
microcontroller side using some api's.After that microcontroller will
send the O/P to the vi .Then at the vi side some comparisons for
checking the reslut will be done and result is displayed.
Now coming to my questions
1.I am trying to send the serial commands using serial VI's.IS it
correct to do like that?(serial command is the process name .It
consists of a string).i want to use the serial port of PC for that
2.when using the NI 6251 and 6509 for generating signals and for
getting i/p from microcontroller i have to use DAQmx for the purpose.Is
it posible to do like this ?
Sending the serial command using the serial VISA vi's and for communication with the devices DAQmx can be used?

I have a problem with the Real Time card PCI-7041/6040E, I think it is properly installed because my software run with the traditional NI-DAQ. When I try to use the new DAQmx to acquire one signal, Labview doesn't see any device for de DAQ card 6040E.
Information, I work on Windows XP and LabView v7.0.0 (NIDAQ RT v7.0.0, NI-Serial RT v2.5.2, NI-VISA v3.0.1 and NI-Watchdog v2.0.0).
Could Labview RT run with new DAQmx ?

How do I correctly time while loops using SCPI and VISA/Ethernet communication to send DC current Values to a Power supply?

I'm rather new to using labview and I having an
issue with a test Data Aquisition lab I'm trying to setup using a
Keithley 6221 AC/DC current source and a basic PCI M-series NI-DAQmx.
First of all, I'm looking to update the current value on a power
supply at a rate of atleast 10Hz and I'm using SCPI commands and VISA
communication through ethernet to do so. Attached below is the VI I
have written.
The issue I'm having is this:
My VI will
loop through the values fine in software, or so it seems. I am unable
to get the Power supply to update sequentially if I don't set my loop
delay to anything greater than 130ms. If I try to run the loop faster
it starts skipping values instead of counting 1,2,3,4,5,1,2,...etc. it
goes 1,2,4,5,2,4,1,2 on the display of the power supply and my DAQ unit
also skips these values so I know that the number just isn't getting
read to the Power supply in time. I was wondering if this was due to
my sloppy programming or if it is a hardware issue, my computer or the
method of communication to the power supply? Is this due to the fact
that I'm using ethernet and VISA communication? Is there a faster way
to communicate or is GPIB faster? Any input at all would be extremely
helpful.
On a side note: Right now I'm using an pre-determined
array of values that I can update on the fly but in the future this
with be put into a closed-loop control system. The value for the
power supply output will be determined by the loop and sent that way.

Also, one of the string constants is NOT set to '\' Codes Display. Here is an alternative method of calculating the index. I removed the DAQ and VISA stuff since I could not run it.

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

Using iPhote Keywords with PS Elements and visa-versa

Does anyone know if you can xfer (import/export) iPhoto keywords to PS Elements 4 or Photo Bridge and visa-versa?
Or do you have to create a new Keyword list with Photo Bridge and PS Elements 4

You can use iView MediaPro in the Demo mode to catalog your iPhoto LIbrary and then sync (write) the keywords back to the original file. That will permit other applications to read those annotations in the source file. Check out Tutorial #1 here. The methodology is there to do what you want even though it's geared for a different issue.

ICloud help: universal apps wont automatically download to iphone 4s after downloading them on ipad and vis versa.

Some apps that are universal will automatically download like, temple run, ibooks, bejeweled. But many other apps that are also universal like watchespn and pandora radio , wont automatically download to my ipad when i download them on my iphone and vis versa. Idk what the problem is and the guy i called at apple couldnt figure it out. Is this happening to anyone else and if so have you fixed it? dont say rebooyt or restart because i did that and nothin happened. Thanks

On both devices tap Settings > Store
Toggle Apps off then back on.

Can't open Pages 05 saved in Dropbox on new Pages iPad app and visa-versa

Updated to the new Pages 05 on all my devices (macbook, iPad, iPhone). Problem now is that I want to save documents into Dropbox. Works fine when saving a file from my macbook to dropbox, and then opening it on my macbook again. But whenever I create a document on either the macbook or iPad and save it into dropbox, it will not allow me to open it on the other device. I am very uneducated in this area, especially the new 'packages' that files are put in now, I'm not understanding how this all works and why I cannot open a pages file created on my macbook in a pages app on my iPad and visa-versa.

I've just encountered this problem trying to work away from my main mac on pages and numbers documents, through my iPad - this was a great feature through dropbox - now it's just another frustration - Apple why are you taking us backwards? To resolve it I have to spend time moving all my documents to iCloud which is just making what was a brilliantly simple file sharing option, now very complicated.

Thanks for the reply. I think I figured out the problem. Apple has confused (at least in my mind) the different IDs that people can have. In the iCloud settings, they use the term Apple ID and not iCloud ID. I guess there really is no such thing as an iCloud ID. There are Apple IDs with various attributes. This is not clearly explained or easy to see (how could I look up to see if my Apple ID is associated with iTunes for example?).
I created, what I thought were iCloud IDs for each family member, but we all use my Apple ID for iTunes.
One other question - why does the syncing of Notes using iCloud require an @me.com email account. That makes no sense to me.

How do i Drag and drop From one tree to another and vise versa?

I have two tree structures and i'm trying to drag a leaf of a branch from one tree to another and vise versa. i'm using flex 3 to code it. I'm also trying to put a prevention on dropping a leaf of one tree from being dropped inside a branch of another tree. Anything that is dragged over to another tree should be placed as a dangling node in that tree. Please share this code and help me find a solution.

Yes, I have set dragEnabled and dropEnabled to true. I trying to put restriction on dropping the node(aka leaf) of 1st free tree inside the branch(aka folder) of the 2nd tree. If something is dragged from tree1, it should be dropped only on tree2 i.e., dragged node should be appended at the end of tree2 and not inside nay of the branches of tree2. This functionality should work on both the trees. I'll be glad if u can provide the solution.

"Sounds like you guys are using the same apple id for imessage. You will need to create a separate id for you wife. OR go to settings - message - receive&send and make sure your phone number is the default for both you and yoru wife.

Sharing typedefs and VIs between different targets in the same project

Hi,
I'm writing a distributed application that runs on a PC and a CompactRIO. There are some data structures and convenience functions (typedefs and VIs) that I'd like to share between them. What's the recommended way of doing so? Is an LVLIB suitable for this purpose?
I currently just host the shared items on the "My Computer" target. However, when I'm editing my code, I sometimes have to click "synchronize with other application instances". Also, the shared items show up on the dependencies list of my cRIO target. I'd rather not have these happen; is it possible to avoid these?

Why do you want this not to happen? When you assign a VI to one target, but still use that VI on the other target, LabVIEW has to recompile for that other target (read: No, you can't avoid that!).
I do the same for many VIs (a lot of them in my user.lib) but still have no problems with it. And using the same typedef for all targets in a project really helps minimizing errors!

Creating INDD file from INX and visa versa

Hi
My task is to create a inx file from indd file and that was easy. I just use

but my problem is that I now have a more that one INDD file and one INDB file and client ask me to make INX file from it.
(I;m just a developer and I never use InDesigner application at all so is it possible? and how?
and than I have to form INX file create INDD file , text file and all Linking files in Links folder.

I'm a designer not a developer, so I'm not sure I'll be helping but the normal behavior when opening an INX file is creates an untitled .indd file. This is is typical. I'm not sure how you would automatically rename back to what it was previously. Have you tried packaging the indd file BEFORE you make the INX file? Also InDesign has the ability to embed the images in the file or link them to external files. You might check to see if that is done, by checking the links pallet. Unfortunately I'm not following what you're starting goal and end goal is. I'll be helpless with the programming end, but any questions regarding how InDesign would typically do it, I'm happy to help with. Pulse Generation application with DAQmx and a PXI-6624 module?

What is the best implementation method for the following pulse generation application
using LabVIEW, DAQmx and a PXI-6624 counter\timer module?
I have two rising edge trigger signals (Trigger-1 and Trigger-2).
There is ample spacing between each trigger. They never occur at the same time.
I need to generate a single pulse (fixed width, variable delay) whenever Trigger-1 occurs and
a finite pulse train (fixed width, variable delay, N-pulses) whenever Trigger-2 occurs.
However, the output must appear on one counter output because this composite signal
will be used as a trigger source for another PXI module in the rack.
With DAQmx and a TIO counter\timer can I use both the GATE (for Trigger-1) and
AUX (for Trigger-2) at the same time on the same counter to gate out the desired pulses?
Trigger-1 would be wired to the GATE of CTR0. One Trigger-1 event would generate one pulse on the output of CTR0.
Trigger-2 would be wired to the GATE of CTR1 and the output of CTR1 would be routed to the AUX input of CTR0.
One Trigger-2 event at the GATE of CTR1 would generate multiple pulses on output of CTR0.
Would DAQmx and the PXI-6624 TIO support this implementation?
What is the best way to accomplish the task at hand.

Hi Scooby,
I have looked into the application you have described and I see a potential problem with what you describe. In DAQmx, it is not possible to call the counters of the same DAQ device in the same task, so you cannot have the finite pulse train generation and the single pulse generation tasks running at the same time. What you can do, since you mention the triggers will not occur at the same time, is to stop one counter task while you are triggering another. The way I would suggest you merge the outputs is with a two input Or logic gate to avoid damaging your counters. Your signals will effectively be added together by this logic gate. I do not see any way to merge the outputs internal to the DAQ device.
