No iCloud support in iwork on mac?

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion and I seems to have a problem: there is no Icloud support i iwork.
My copy of iwork is not from the mac app store, is that the problem?
I really hope someone can help, since this feature is one of the reasons i upgraded in the first place.

Apple issued an iWork upgrade early last week.  You need to be on the latest release.

From your point of view and the framing of your question, Apple does indeed support WIndows better than Mac for the limited issue of iCloud.

...YET, Leopard and Snow Leopard are NOT iCloud compatible. How can that be justified? Obviously, Apple can make iCloud available to Snow Leopard, but disdains us...
Historically speaking, Apple has rarely gone backwards in its OS development.  Once they have released a new OS with new technology, I can only think of one example of when they backtracked:  They released TrueType technology in System 7 and then released System 6.0.8, which included TrueType technology for continuing System 6 users.
So it is part of their culture to move forward and not backwards.  Other examples:
    •  Inclusion of the then novel SONY 3.5" disk drive in its release of the first Macintosh (and not the industry standard 5.25" drive); after its use in the Lisa and adoption for the Apple II series of computers.
    •  Elimination of the floppy drive completely in the release of the first iMac.
    •  Use of then novel AAC audio compression as "state of the art" compression for the iPod release in 2001 instead of the outdated mp3 standard.
    •  Refusal to allow use of FLASH in iPod Touch/iPhone/iPads.
How could they justify these decisions?  The marketplace justified them for Apple!
So, yes, they could release 10.6.9 with iCloud support.  But why now, if not then?

how do i set up multiple iCloud accounts on the same mac?

Interesting - I was sure I'd seen a note somewhere that it was only Mail, but this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4020
    does say
Your secondary iCloud accounts can be set up and viewed in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on your iOS device, or Apple () menu > System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on OS X Lion. You may choose to do this if you have a second iCloud account and need to access its Mail, Contacts, or Calendar data.
Note: While you can configure multiple iCloud Mail accounts in iOS, Push mail will only work for the primary iCloud account in iOS. Secondary account(s) will check for mail based on the settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.
It's not something I can test - I suppose the second account's data gets added to the lists in iCal and Address Book?

  • ICloud's "Back to My Mac" Crawls after 10.7.3 update

Before I upgraded all of my systems (MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Pro) to 10.7.3 I was able to have very fast mouse responsiveness and graphics updates using vnc:// and iCloud's "Back to My Mac" when connecting to any of my Macs in various offices. Over Cable/DSL links and on fast campus networks, I never had problems before with using iCloud's "Back to My Mac". However, since the latest 10.7.3 update, all of my vnc:// and "Back to My Mac" sessions have slowed down to a crawl, literally. Mouse clicks are unresponsive. Screen updates are delayed and infrequent. I've tried both Adaptive Quality and Full Quality, both are equally terrible. Please help fix this once monumentally useful tool from the iCloud suite so that I can continue working remotely from home. Thanks.
ps, It was recommended on "Mac OS Ken's" podcast to download and install the 10.7.3 update using the 10.7.3 (client combo), available via download from http://support.apple.com/downloads. Updating using this method did not fix my problems. Please advise.

Launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search, and select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the times of the log messages referring to boot times. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the time of the most recent boot when you had the problem. Look for error messages in the minutes before that time, and post them here -- the text, please, not a screenshot. Edit out excessive repeats, if any. Do the same with kernel.log.
If the logs don't go back far enough in time, scroll down in the Console file list to /private/var/log/system.log.0.bz2 and /private/var/log/kernel.log.0.bz2. Search those archived logs, and if necessary the older ones below them, for the same information.
Also in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please do not post shutdownStall or hang logs -- they're very long and not helpful.

How do I get iCloud to work with my mac that has snow lepard and is pre intel?

    Richard Kerns wrote:
And it kills me that a friend who has pc computers and just has an iphone and ipad can breeze through all this with no problem and he still has XP.  So Apple goes back and helps old OS for pc but not for it's own kind!!!
Richard, I agree with you 1,000%. I wrote this in a forum a few weeks ago, when a user was complaining about Snow Leopard not supporting iCloud:
Why is it that if I bought a Mac before July of this year, I must pay to upgrade my operating system in order to take advantage of iCloud? Meanwhile, a Windows Vista SP2 user, who bought a new computer in May 2009, already has everything they need on their computer to use iCloud.
Why was it possible for Apple to write a free iCloud Control Panel that was compatible with existing versions of Windows, but Mac users must buy an entirely new operating system?
If Apple gave Mac users the same amount of backwards compatibility that it gives to Windows users, people with OSX 10.5 (Leopard) would be able to use iCloud. That's something to think about the next time you go to purchase a new computer.
(P.S. Something else to think about: If you bought a Mac before October 2007 (when OSX 10.5 was introduced), your computer won't run iTunes 10.5 unless you buy an upgrade. But a PC user, who purchased their computer as long ago as Sept. 2004(!), can run iTunes without an OS upgrade.)
I got so angry thinking about this, that I ended up writing an angry note to Apple on their feedback page. After repeating what I just wrote here, I asked them to commit to providing at least the same level of support to Mac users that they do for PC users when it comes to their cross platform products (iPhone, iPad, iCloud, Apple TV, Safari, iTunes, etc.) And, really, is that so much to ask?
I wish I knew how to start a petition requesting that Mac users get comparable treatment as PC users. But then again, shouldn't that go without saying?
Please leave feedback about this revolting double standard on the Apple feedback page. They should be thinking long and hard about why their own customers are treated worse than the customers of their competition.

iwork for ios accepts for upload and also happily opens all your Microsoft office files, from Office97 standard doc/xls/ppt to the 2011 versions of docx, xlsx, pptx and various other of these format extensions.
Notice : the upload feature in www.icloud.com is only active if you in fact own these apps on your iPhone/Pad/pod. it is not a feature of iWork for the Mac ( iwork09 ) which itself is not icloud capable at all.

  • ICloud support, customers, developers: PLEASE HELP !!

I forgot to sign out of icloud.com on a computer I was using it in my friends' home. I have gone back next day to his home to check login status and he told me that he closes the browser (automatically signed out); I've changed the password and I've checked the login status to be successfully signed out from his computer.
But honestly I trust no one in case of private information [Top secret] so I'm now worried if he has downloaded any attachment in mail or in iWork files.
I just want to know how many times such a file has been downloaded [From my account] ?
Note: I've searched to my important files in his computer; I've also checked the download list and history in his computer and no one of my files found.
Did you think that because I extremely fear of my files from theft, I expect the worst possibilities became, that my friend has changed the names of the files, removed the downloaded files from list and history of his browser to prevent me tracking my files in his computer ?
Is there any action could be followed to track the activities in mail for example mail logging [date, time & description] !?
    Thank you very much.

There is no risk in using Console (it's Terminal which is dangerous) but the viewing you propose doesn't give you history - I quote:
Apple includes an AppleScript to turn Mail logging on. Once it's turned on, the Console logs will keep track of your Mail logs until you quit the Mail application. If you want to keep Mail logging active, you'll have to re-run the script before each time you launch Mail.
(My emphasis.) So it wouldn't do you any good, and in any case there is no equivalent facility in the iCloud website. If you think that Apple have records you could contact Support and ask, but frankly I doubt you will get this from them.
To contact  iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

  • Syncing iCloud Calendar with Outlook for Mac (new Outlook)

Does anyone know if it's possible to sync your iCloud Calendar with Outlook for Mac yet (Outlook for Mac is the new Outlook that comes with Microsoft Office 365)? If so, how do you do it?
I've done some research on this question, and most of the responses are a few years old... wanted to see if anything has changed since. I find it weird how I can sync my iCloud Calendar with Outlook 2013 on my PC, but not with Outlook for Mac on my Mac--which is practically the same thing.
    Thanks ahead of time!

    Greetings kipp0606,
If you would like to use iCloud mail in an email client, you may want to review the following article. It contains the mail server settings you'll need to set it up:
iCloud: Mail server settings for email clients - Apple Support
Use these mail server settings if you need to manually set up your email app (client) to use an iCloud email account.
Do you need these mail server settings?
You can use the mail server settings in this article to manually set up your email app to send and receive email with an iCloud email account. However, you shouldn't need to do that if you meet the iCloud system requirements and can use any of these setup methods:
OS X Lion v10.7.4 or later: Use iCloud Preferences.
Microsoft Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2010 or later: Use iCloud for Windows.
iOS 7 or later: Use iCloud settings.
If you're using the Mail app in OS X Snow Leopard v10.6, use the mail server information in the iCloud Mail setup instructions for Snow Leopard instead of the settings below.Mail server settings
Refer to your email app's documentation for information about how to use these settings. iCloud Mail uses the IMAP and SMTP standards supported by most modern email apps. iCloud does not support POP.

  • How do i sync my icloud contacts with outlook for Mac 2011

I need to sync my icloud contacts with Outlook for Mac.  Help!

You can't, as Microsoft chose not to include the CardDAV protocol necessary to do so (even though they do in Microsoft Office).  See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2648915.  To sync your iCloud contacts with your Mac you'll need to use the OS X Contacts (Address Book) app.

Does Lion support MS Office for Mac 2011? The RoaringApps compatibility list shows Office 2011 having some unspecified problems with Lion. Any confirmation yest showing compatibility with Office 2011?

I'm running MS Office 2011 on Lion and it runs just fine.  No "Full Screen", but it runs just fine.  There may have been an update to install (I know there was an iWork one anyway), but even before I installed any updates Office '11 worked just fine.

  • How to change iCloud password on a remote Mac?

I use iCloud and Back To My Mac (BTMM) to access some of the computers I have overseas. Everything was fine up until yesterday when I had to change my iCloud password. I now have lost access via BTMM to those remote computers as they need to have the iCloud password updated in the iCloud panel in their System Preference (and the Back to My Mac option has to be disabled/re-enabled to have it restarted).
I have remote SSH access to those remote Macs (all running Lion and in one case Snow Leopard), so I have a working SSH shell on them. But I cannot figure out how to update the iCloud password that is stored on those Mac via command line. I can reboot them if needed of course remotely, I'd just need to update the password used for the iCloud services...
Having someone walk to those Macs, login with my account and have them enter the password for me is not really an option, as to do that I'd have to give them both my Mac's account password and my new iCloud password, which is not going to happen :-) In addition, some of the Macs are used by my parents and in-laws, with their computer skill being limited to knowing how to open Safari and the Mail app. They wouldn't be able to help in anything technical.
So... is there another solution other than buying a plane ticket to go overseas and do it myself?

In case anyone wonders, I was finally able to update my iCloud password ont he remote computer. The key was SSH.
Issue this command to connect via SSH to the remote Mac:
    ssh remote_computer -L 5800:127.0.0.1:5900
This forwards all traffic from port 5800 on your Mac to port 5900 (the VNC/Screen Sharing port...) on the remote Mac.
Then open the Screen Sharing app from your Mac. From there, connect to:
    localhost:5800
This will actually connect you to the remote Mac, even though your iCloud password is wrong on the remote Mac. Now you have GUI access and you can login into your account remotely and update the iCloud password on the System Preferences on the remote Mac.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

  • HT2513 my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple.  no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple.  Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac".  Any ideas?

my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple.  no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple.  Of course this only happens with iCloud and not "from my Mac".  Any ideas on how to correct this?  This seems like a trivial error, but it's super annoying.

I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem.  It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about.  (there was a new iCloud release, hence...)  No ETA for a fix yet.  I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list.  I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve).  I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward.  They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset.  ;-)

  • I want to use the same name for my icloud email address as my .mac name

My name for all of my yahoo, gmail, .mac email accounts are al the same.  I'd like to use the same name for my icloud account.  It tells me that the name is not available but I'm pretty sure no one else would have chosen it.  Is the fact that I've used it for my .mac email address somehow blocking it's availability?  Please help.  Thanks.

There is some confusion in my mind about your post.  Let me describe what I think you mean, let us know if I misunderstood...
I'm assuming you already have an Apple ID that you used to define an iCloud account (or an older dot mac account), and the iCloud account has "[email protected]" as its email address.  But the Apple ID for this account is not the same as the email address I just listed, perhaps your apple ID is something like "xyz@???.com" and what you want is to use the ID, "mySpecialName@???.com".   [the "???" could be mac, icloud, or something else]
If I've got it right so far, then  when creating a **new** Apple ID, you must now use @icloud.com.  If you are trying to define "[email protected]", then that is the problem - "mySpecialName" is already associated with @icloud.com, because your current @mac.com also has [email protected] as an alias, so that name is no longer available.
Also, you cannot change the current ID from "xyz" to "mySpecialName" on an existing account.  So either way, you can't get the ID that you desire.
Let us know if this is not what you mean.
