No Java 6 on Leopard
I am a java developer and was very surprised to see that the java 6 SDK is not available on Leopard.
And recently more surprised that it was shipped for Tiger.
So when java 6 sdk will be released ?
Java SE 6 Developer Preview 9 is available on http://developer.apple.com/java/ through the ADC Member Site (click "Download Software", then "Java"). This Preview includes Java SE 6 version 1.6.0_04.
I have some troubles/crashes...in any case, you can use it for your internal development.

Hi,
I have been working on an app. with rmi support under tiger - and everything worked fine.
I've now upgraded to Leopard and suddenly things stopped working.
I have tried simple "Hello world" RMI examples which worked fine under Windows (BootCamp) but not in Leopard
Have others had similar RMI problems with java 1.5.0_13 under Leopard?
Thanks in advance,Its very simple.
Just put in your Mac OS X Leopard disk that came with the macbook
It should pop up on your screen automatically
Go into the optional installs folder and then to XCode Tools
Now just double click on XcodeTools.mpkg and just do as it says -

and im wondering how to use java on it so i can make programs
so any help would be awesomeIts very simple.

Can't fix Java under Leopard - help!
I was using Tiger with Java 1.6 SE set as the default. I then upgraded to Leopard and have found that 1.6 is not supported (ok, in my haste, I didn't research this properly).
However, now, I'm stuck because I can't switch the default back to 1.5. When I launch Java Preferences, I get the following error:
Dyld Error Message:
Symbol not found: _CTFontGetGraphicsFont
Referenced from: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Libraries/libawt.jni lib
Expected in: /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Application Services
But this is a Unix system, isn't it... so there must be a file somewhere that I can edit to fix all of this?
Also, how can I uninstall Java 1.6 SE?Hmmm.. I see what you're getting at but in fact the CurrentJDK folder is already linked to the 1.5 folder. When I run java -version it shows as version 1.6. So...
$ ls -l `which java`
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 74 30 Oct 23:22 /usr/bin/java -> /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/java
And in the Versions directory there's this odd directory called simply "A", which Current points to:
Mac:Versions Rick$ ls -l

The "A" directory only contains JRE 1.6 as far as I can tell. -
I wanted to learn java and have Mac OS X 10.5.1 (Leopard). When I type in "java -version" it says I have version 1.5 (which I guess is Java 5). But the tutorials on the java.sun.com website are for java 6. It gives a link to download java 6 for Mac OS X at apple's developer's site. The download at the site, however, is for Mac OS X 10.4. Will this work for Leopard? Is there another place to download Java 6 for Leopard? Thank you in advance.
I've been learning Java on windows for a while now using Java 6 (and the tutorials it has), and when I switched to mac all I had to do was recompile the files and they worked fine. It doesn't seem there's any major differences between the versions that someone just starting out would notice.
(I think it's actually better to keep java 1.5, since when you compile from it for web applets you know they'll work on other macs, whereas the programs I'd compiled using Java 6 weren't working on my mac) -
Ayuda con Snow Leopard y JAVA, quiero instalar SQL Developer, y no hay manera! alguna idea? Necesito una maquina virtual de java, pero no la encuentro en el sistema....
Uninstall Norton using their uninstaller, it's bad for Mac's and likely outdated. (rare to get Mac malware)
Since 10.6.8, Apple has incorporated their own OS X anti-malware, so your covered.
Make sure System Preferences > Security > Automatically update safe downloads list is checked ON.
If you need further anti-malware to rid the Windows files you get of their malware, then the free ClamXav is great and free.

Where do you get jnlp.jar for Mac Leopard 10.5.5
Hello,
I am trying to use Persistence in JNLP on a Mac 10.5.5 with either 1.5 or 1.6. I have searched
my local disk the Mac developer web site and this website for "jnlp java Mac Leopard" no useful results.
Where can I get a jnlp.jar file that works on a Mac?
RinaldoI was able to get the question answered on the mailto:[email protected] list.
My friend http://www.google.com/search?q=jnlp.jar+mac+java&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t answered it.
Greg also provided some very useful information, especially the mdfind javaws.jar command
http://lists.apple.com/archives/Java-dev/2008/Nov/msg00052.html
I see that in JDK 1.5, javaws.jar is included. For now I will assume that the javaws.jar classes have been moved to javaws.jar
jar tvf ./Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/lib/javaws.jar | grep jnlp

HT202822 I need Java for OS X 2013-005 - where do I get it?
A key website for me has updated its Java requirements as of today. For some reason Java is not in evidence on my iMac, although it seemed to be doing its job until today. The catch is that I'm on Snow Leopard, which I realize Apple no longer supports. I'd still like to try installing the final Java Snow Leopard update (I know, it's a long shot) but it's not available through Software Update and I can't find it on the Apple site.
Suggestions welcome — but preferably not a lecture that I should be on Yosemite.Yes, you're likely correct. The version of Java for Snow Leopard is too old to function correctly with that site.
When you have Yosemite installed, pick up Java 8 from Oracle (Apple stopped altering Oracle's Java to work with OS X after version 6). The latest version, unbelievably, installs adware if you aren't paying attention. Or at least it did. I downloaded it again just now, and the adware option is gone. I don't know if that means it now installs the adware without giving you a check box (as it did before) to opt out, or if Oracle was deluged with angry emails and phone calls asking just what in the he** they thought they were doing. -
What if I need to reinstall Java?
I made the mistake of trusting a Java applet and the site downloaded a .jar which apparently corrupted the " javaws cache". I went into the java cache and deleted the items that were installed and no longer get the error but I am concerned that i don't have a complete java...
Do I need to reinstall Java?
Where do I get the latest Java for Leopard????
thanks!Thank you for your time to answer my question... the problem is that the reference you posted is java for Apple OSX 10.4 only....
Is there a java for 10.5 out there? Is it in the Leopard install disk? How do I get to it? thanks so much! -
HT4592 What Java update do I download for os 10.5.8
Can someone tell me what version of Java I need to download to be current? I have a Mac os 10.5.8. Thx so much. kl
The final update of Java for Leopard was:
Update 10, 29 June 2011 - This release updates J2SE 5.0 to 1.5.0_30, and updates Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_26. J2SE 1.4.2 is no longer being updated to fix bugs or security issues and remains disabled by default in this update. Support for out-of-process Java applets on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard has been removed with this update.
This release is only for Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later versions of Mac OS X 10.5. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359
and for Snow Leopard:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1360
Note: Java 1.6 for Leopard is 64 bit only, but for Snow Leopard it is available for both 32 and 64 bit.
http://www.roguish.com/blog/?p=266
But since August 2012 updates for Java (and especially Java Runtime Environment, which is what you actually need) must now be downloaded direct from Oracle:

What are my options (Java)?
Hi all,
I have a macbook (2009) running on OS v 10.5.8. I've read that there are no more Java updates made for this version. I need it for school. Some of the lessons I need aren't opening properly. What are my options at this point? Can I even get Java on my macbook anymore?
Thanks
NicholeThere is no further update to Java for Leopard than this one:

Hi guys,
I have a question about JMenuBar in Java for Leopard,
I just make a little program with a menu
i used this to put my JMenuBar in the apple MenuBar
*static {*
* System.setProperty("apple.laf.useScreenMenuBar", "true");*
that works fine !
but my menu is like
*File - Profile - New*
actually when you'r not logged in you only get "File" menu !
so i just put a *static int logged = 0;*
for checking
then after login i want add "Profile" and "New"
so i just call back my method
it check the static logged variable
it's equal to 1
so i do
menu.add(profile);
menu.add(neww);
menu.UpdateUI();
and i run my programm but NEVER it add my other menu !
and i don't know why ... it's like never updated
maybe you have an answer ?
or just any help
thanksapparently ... after my searching day ...
it's a swing problem ... people said to call the function by the event thread but i really don't know how to do it yet
because there aren't examples shown. -
Mac OS10.5.8 Have not had problems with other sites but do not try others often. Have tried clearing cookies and cache. Thought it may be Norton and tried as much as I could understand of the fixes on this site.
I would check Software Update (in the Apple menu) to make sure you have the latest [http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1359 Java for Leopard] , which was updated a few weeks ago. Of course, now that I say that, it's possible the update is what broke things for you, but I've used Citrix's GoToMyPC plenty since Apple upgraded Java for 10.6, and it uses a similar launcher.

Just updated to lion and my cctv access has stopped functioning all I get is a white screen in the middle of the control panel where the camera shots should be. I think it is caused by JAVA but am confused as when i view on snow leopard it works can you help
Open "Java Preferences" either from spotlight or your utilities folder...it's probably going to say you need to install a java runtime. Then just click install!

I just upgraded to Snow Leopard (OS 10.8.2) from Lopard and am now not able to launch Photoshop CS3 extended. I get a warning that says: To open “Adobe Photoshop CS3,” you need to install a Java SE 6 runtime. Would you like to check for and install one? But when I click on "Install" I'm told it is currently unavailable. I need PS to work! What can I do!?
Manually download and install it from Oracle.
