No Preview or Download With My XML feed

I have created an XML feed for my podcasts per the Apple specs and everything is working great EXCEPT my mp3's are uploaded to a streaming server. My feed reflects the URL of the mp3 file on the streaming server.
The itunes store will not play these podcasts. No preview or anything. So, I moved the mp3 off from the streaming server to a regular web server. Updated the feed....and all is good!
So, the problem is now I will have to have these files in two locations. One on my streaming server and one on my web server. Not good joo joo. So, is it possible for itunes to use the streaming server URL? Do I need to change something in my feed or will I be stuck with having the files in two locations?

iTunes does not stream podcast files. So I think you are stuck unless you can make one server do both.

  • Validating HTML with an XML feed

    I'm having difficulty getting my home page to validate with

    there is no attribute "xmlns:wfw".
    This is from the beginning of my XSL file:

    It looks like you did not upload the folder called dsr, which is part of the url for the feed.

  • Error when submitting podcast: unable to download episodes from your feed

    Hi everyone!
    When I want to submit my podcast in iTunes, it tells me it is unable to download episodes from my feed.
    I uploaded my mp3 file and xml file to an ftp-server, could there be a problem?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Jannes

    Your feed won't access in FireFox (my default rss reader) or Safari when set as an rss reader, and it was unable to download the file. I was able to access and read it in Terminal and using FeedValidator but it comes to an abrupt end 28 lines in - see the report:
    http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.setanta.com%2Fie%2F%3Ffe ed%3Dpodcast
    (ignore the error on line 14, this is irrelevant.)
    Either your feed file is corrupt or the server is acting up in some way - you would have to take that up with the people running it.

  • Submit error: we had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed

    I have created a new feed for Lifestream.org at https://www.lifestream.org/podcast.xml and it works subscribing in iTunes, but fails upon submission to Apple with "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed."
    The site is on Drupal 7, with Views iTunes RSS provding the feed.
    Please advise.

    I can't see any reason why this should be. The feed validates OK (there are a few minor niggles but nothing which would cause this problem) and the episode file I checked played perfectly well. None of the usual culprits (wrong sort of media type, https in the media file URL, 'itunes:block' tag set to yes) is the case here.
    We've seen cases where files which worked everywhere else wouldn't work in the iTunes Store; I've not seen any explanation for this - my guess (and I emphasize that it is a guess) is that some servers don't handle requests from the iTunes Store properly, but I don't know enough about server technology to say whether this is possible or what would cause it. You could try asking your server provider whether they have any information on this.
    You could try hosting a few episode media files on another server and see whether that deals with it. Or it might even be a temporary glitch at Apple's end - you could leave it a day or two and try again.
    Other than that I'm afraid I can't suggest anything.

    The missing opening tags problem was caused by your pasting the contents into the forum and is not present in the actual feed. However you have two serious and two minor faults.
    Your media file URL is
    http://phmedia.mediaimages.net:1935/vod/_definst_/mp4:0165/12061_13536.mp4/playl ist.m3u8
    This isn't a media file, it's a m3u playlist at 4kB. You need to provide a direct link to your media file and the URL must end with an extension, e.g. mp4
    Your 'itunes:image' is a png which appears to be a screenshot: it should be 1400 x 1400 px or the feed won't be accepted, and it must be less the 500kB. You should choose a logo which will work when reduced to the size on the Store page.
    You are missing what should be the first line of your feed:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    Your 'pubdate' tag reads
    <pubDate>Thu Feb 20 02:39:12 EST 2014</pubDate>
    There should be a comma after the 'Thu' and the '2014' should be after 'Feb', not at the end.
    Your 'itunes:duration' tag reads
    <itunes:duration>0:0:29</itunes:duration>
    It should read
    <itunes:duration>0:00:29</itunes:duration>
    These last three are not fatal but should be addressed.
    Finally, your title is 'iTunes1' which is valid but not a good title. You should choose something which gives an idea of the content.

  • Unable to submit podcast - "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed"

    Hi there,
    I had tried submitting my podcast feed onto iTunes: http://thecity.sg/media-resour…..e/?podcast
    However, I was unable to and the following prompt was given "We had difficulty downloading episodes from your feed".
    Anyone able to explain or help out?

    The problem lies with the URLs for your media files. Looking at the most recent episode, the URL is
    http://thecity.sg/media-resource/?show&file_name=12Jan14_DanielChua_The%20Master %20Key.mp3
    which redirects to
    http://thecity.sg//wp-content/uploads/sermons/12Jan14_DanielChua_The%20Master%20 Key.mp3
    when entered in a browser, and the file plays there as it should. When subscribing manually in iTunes it does work OK. However, because of the problems which are caused in XML by having an ampersand ('&') the feed has rendered the URL as
    http://thecity.sg/media-resource/?show&file_name=12Jan14_DanielChua_The%20Master %20Key.mp3
    replacing the ampersand with the code &amp; as would be correct if it were in a description or other text tag. If you enter this changed URL in a browser you get a web page, and presumably this is what the Store is seeing.
    This use of server-side scripting to handle your file access is asking for trouble and you would be better off using the actual URL of the file,
    http://thecity.sg//wp-content/uploads/sermons/12Jan14_DanielChua_The%20Master%20 Key.mp3
    While we're looking at this, your filename has spaces in it. Spaces are not allowed in a URL and the feed has correctly substituted the code %20 for each space, so it does work; but it's preferable not to do this. The usual practice is to substitute an underscore for each space as you have already done for part of the file name.

  • Image code in XML feed

    I am having a problem validating my feed -- it is giving me an error message with my image code. I definitely just copied and pasted from the itunes site, and it looks identical. Can someone help??

    Lizzie,
    are you by any chance using Word to edit your XML feed? I suspect that's the main issue you're having here, as in a couple of your feeds you had a hard return in the img tag, and in another you had what looked like the MS "Smart Quotes". You should use Notepad or a similar text editor to avoid that.
    Anyway, I downloaded your feed and fixed a few things see here: http://home.comcast.net/~afranquiz/holyroad.xml
    Besides the hard return in the img tag, fixed these:
    Missing description (used summary)
    "Thurs" should be "Thu"
    Fixed closing tag at end of "..I Pledge Allegiance ..."
    I think that was most of it.Anyways, looks valid there
    (http://feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http://home.comcast.net/~afranquiz/holyro ad.xml) except that comcast serves it as plain text. Should work on yours though.
    Hope that helps

  • HTTP support for XML feed in XMLProvider ??

    Im trying to customize a XMLProvider with HTTP url for the XML feed in the display profile. I get a FileNotFoundException while running the portal and "Error getting conent" is diaplayed in the channel.
    It works fine when i download it and give the path of the file in the url element. Can I use http in the url element ?? Any suggestions please.
    Sunil.

    same problem, scheme "file" is working, path in the filesystem is working, and "http" don't work ( same xml content in the 3 cases).
    I see with truss that the web server answer ok with 200 so the GET seems to work...
    I have copied the xml content in the portal web server, and same behaviour.
    Is there a workaround ?
    thanks

    Hello;
    You can try installing glibc-devel to fix this.
    However on my version :
    Application Server Control Release 10.1.2.3.0 - PHP 5 does not seem to work. The conflict on mine is that PHP 4 came wrapped in the Oracle install and they don't play well together.
    Make sure your httpd.conf does not have this in it :
    LoadModule php4_module libexec/libphp4.soI'm NOT advising you to remove it if its there, I'm merely pointing to a possible conflict.

    Hey ,
    I hope someone can help.. been trying to upgrade from 9841 to 9860 for the last few days.. and I cant seem to get the preview build download part to work..
    Seems like "80246017 Flight Settings Failure Content Download Error: Download failed" is the main error (more logs below)
    And it doesn't seem like(from other blog posts) there are any manual downloads (ISO, .EXE's) so I'm stuck.
    I know I could possibly do a full "clean" re-install of 9841 and then upgrade to 9860 but I really want to find out why its not working..

    Hi,
    I had this same issue and tried many things to fix it. I finally found a fix with a small registry edit.
    Open command prompt under admin and follow these steps (which I found here:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_tp-winipp/error-code-0x80246017-when-trying-to-download-new/b188df4f-8e7a-443a-b584-61c4d59407d8)
    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability" /v "BranchName" /d "fbl_release" /t REG_SZ
    /f
    reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability" /v "ThresholdRiskLevel" /d "low" /t REG_SZ /f
    reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability" /v "ThresholdInternal" /f
    reg delete "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability" /v "ThresholdOptedIn" /f
    After you have done that open regedit and navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost\Applicability
    If there is a folder called "recovered from" delete it. Then open up Windows Update in PC settings and go to preview builds and click Check Now
    This worked for me. Hopes it works for you to.

  • How to work with Fedex xml request

    Hi Developers,
    In USPS I can send the xml request with http url in the browser and successfully getting the xml response. How can we achieve the same concept in FedEx?
    Is this possible?
    In FedEx site i downloaded the xml-transaction pdf, which contains the multiple xml request. I don't know how to test it with the browser.
    Sample xml request for Fedex which i founded in the above mentioned pdf is shown below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <FDXSubscriptionRequest xmlns:api="http://www.fedex.com/fsmapi" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchemainstance"
    xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="FDXSubscriptionRequest.xsd">
    <RequestHeader>
    <CustomerTransactionIdentifier>String</CustomerTransactionIdentifier>
    <AccountNumber>123456789</AccountNumber>
    </RequestHeader>
    <Contact>
    <PersonName>Jim Smith</PersonName>
    <CompanyName>Creative Widgets</CompanyName>
    <Department>Shipping</Department>
    <PhoneNumber>5405559900</PhoneNumber>
    <PagerNumber>9999999999</PagerNumber>
    <FaxNumber>5405559901</FaxNumber>
    <E-MailAddress>[email protected]</E-MailAddress>
    </Contact>
    <Address>
    <Line1>123 Main Street</Line1>
    <Line2>1st Floor</Line2>
    <City>Anycity</City>
    <StateOrProvinceCode>VA</StateOrProvinceCode>
    <PostalCode>24060</PostalCode>
    <CountryCode>US</CountryCode>
    </Address>
    </FDXSubscriptionRequest>
    and they also provide the sample xml response which is given below:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <FDXSubscriptionReply xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
    xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="FDXSubscriptionReply.xsd">
    <RequestHeader>
    <CustomerTransactionIdentifier>String</CustomerTransactionIdentifier>
    </RequestHeader>
    <MeterNumber>1234567</MeterNumber>
    <SubscribedService>FedEx Express Shipping</SubscribedService>
    </FDXSubscriptionReply>
    I want to know how to send the above mentioned FedEx xml request in the browser to reach the FedEx Server or how to achive the FedEx xml request using java
    code.
    But these concepts is possible in the USPS because we make a connection with http url(provided by usps) and then we will send the xml request, where as in FedEx the http url is inside the xml structure. So how can we achive this?
    Please help me to come out from this problem
    Thanks
    Srinivasan

    You might have to tweak this code some to get it to work, but it should at least lay the groundwork for solving your problem:
    Code Snippet
    /* Declare an XmlNode object and initialize it with the XML response from the GetListItems method. The last parameter specifies the GUID of the Web site containing the list. Setting it to null causes the Web site specified by the Url property to be used.*/
                System.Xml.XmlNode nodeListItems =
                    MyListsService.GetListItems
                    (listName, viewName, query, viewFields, rowLimit, queryOptions, null);
    System.Xml.XmlDocument xd = new System.Xml.XmlDocument();
    xd.LoadXml(nodeListItems.OuterXml);
    System.Xml.XmlNamespaceManager nm = new System.Xml.XmlNamespaceManager(xd.NameTable);
    nm.AddNamespace("rs", "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:rowset");
    nm.AddNamespace("z", "#RowsetSchema");
    nm.AddNamespace("rootNS", "http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/soap");
    System.Xml.XmlNodeList nl = xd.SelectNodes("/rootNS:listitems/rs:data/z:row", nm);
    foreach(System.Xml.XmlNode listItem in nl)
      listBoxProsjekter.Items.Add(listItem.OuterXml);
    I hope this helps!

  • Need to get rss/xml feed from itunes

    I need to get an rss/xml feed of the albums I am selling on itunes -- to insert into an iphone app I am working on.
    Any one know how to get this feed?

    If you had iTunes Match before all this happened, yes. Just log in, activate iTM and download the music. If you did not have iTunes Match prior to these incidents, no, it can not help you.
    You should also be doing regular backups of your personal data to an extnal HDD. If you had a backup hue could simply restore it.
