No Read or Write into SQL Database in Distribution configuration (Urgent)

Hello
I have build an application that have use database. It works fine when in debug mode but when i make installer then there is no read or write operation into database. I am using SQL Toolkit 2.2 and LabWindows 2010 and SQL Server 2008.
Kindly help me because now i want to handover application to my client.
Best Regards
Umer

Hi Umer
This is a standard issue with the SQL toolkit. Read the Help under Library Reference->SQL Toolkit Library->SQL Language Reference->Distributing an SQL Toolkit Executable or DLL.
It says:
"Distribute the following files with an executable or DLL that uses SQL Toolkit functions.
You must use the CVISQLShared.msm merge module to install support for the LabWindows/CVI SQL Toolkit. The CVISQLShared.msm merge module is located in the Program Files\Common Files\Merge Modules directory.
Note  Use the CVISQLShared_x64.msm merge module for 64-bit executables and DLLs.
Include the sqldistsupp.exe and sqldistsupp.dsn files when you create a LabWindows/CVI distribution in order to install required database components. Set sqldistsupp.exe as the program to run after installation in the distribution.
The sqldistsupp.exe program, located in the [CVIDIR]\redist directory, creates a system data source name using sqldistsupp.dsn. The sample sqldistsupp.dsn file creates a data source called CVI SQL Samples, which works with the Microsoft Access ODBC driver. You can use the tokens [WindowsDirectory], [WindowsSystemDirectory], [CVISQLInstallDirectory], and [AppInstallDirectory] in the .dsn file. At installation time, the sqldistsupp.exe program replaces these tokens with the proper paths.
Notes
For 64-bit executables and DLLs, use the sqldistsupp.exe and sqldistsupp.dsn files in the [CVIDIR]\redist\x64 directory.
[CVISQLInstallDirectory] is the directory containing sqldistsupp.exe and is equivalent to [AppInstallDirectory].
The location of [CVIDIR] varies depending on the latest version of LabWindows/CVI you have installed.
Version
[CVIDIR] Folder Location
LabWindows/CVI not installed
National Instruments\Shared\CVI
LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 or earlier
National Instruments\CVIxx
LabWindows/CVI 8.5 or later
National Instruments\Shared\CVI
Now, why this essential information is buried is the entirely counter-intuitive SQL Language Reference section I do not know.
Neither do I understand why the install builder does not do this automatically.
Anyone from NI care to comment?

  • Read data from Excel and write into oracle database

    Hi
    I want  to know how can i read data from excel and write into oracle database using java.Kindly help me out to find a solution.
    Thanks and Regards
    Neeta

    Hai,
    I am suggesting the solution.
    I will try out and let u know soon.
    Make a coma separated file from your excel file.
    Assuming that your requirement allows to make a csv file.
    This file may be passed as an file object to be read by java.Using JDBC you must be able to populate the data base.You can also use String Tokenizer if needed.
    You do not want to  go via sql Loader?
    For reading the excel file itself do you want java?

  • Data Type for saving Base64 image string into SQL database

    Hi Team! I have image base64 string to be save into sql database. I use Varchar(MAX) data type. The problem is there are certain image string that cannot be enter (paste) into the table (due to the size) then i need to resize the image then i can paste
    the string into the table. How to make all image string size be able to be save in the table? Or there is limit on the image size to be save into the table? I'm using mssql 2008. Thanks a lot.

    There is a limit of 2GB. Which means that the actual image size must be less, since you encode the image in Base64 for some reason.
    Now, "pasting" strings is not the normal way to store data in an SQL Server database, so the question is a little funny. Normally data is stored in a database through a program of some sort. One way is to use OPENROWSET(BULK) as HuaMin suggested.
    Here is a link to a simple example of how to do it from .NET:

    Step 1:I am using an SQL Query1 it fetches data
    Step 2:  I am using 4 calculation Action block to calculate the values
    Step 3: I am inserting the Calculated values using an SQL Query2
    In the links when i evaluate its showing the value but when i check in the SQL Database it has inserted zeros...
    I found that the first Query is not returning anything if i have set the Date condition in where clause...

    Hi Sweety,
    Can you provide some more information?
    The script for each of your queries.  (looking especially at how you are using single quotes around the Param properties for different data types)
    Are you using an Command SQL Query for the insert?
    Why are you using the Calculation action block instead of using the Expression Editor for the calculation?

  • Problem in saving the image into SQL database..

    Hello,
    In my application I have to save image file (say jpg) into the database and retrieve back and display it on the applet. I am through with grabbing the pixels of the image & sending the pixel array to the servlet but I am struck in how to store the image into the database and retrieve the same.
    Can anybody please help me in this regard... its really urgent...
    Thanks in advance
    Swarna

    Hello.
    I've been researching this problem (saving images in a MySQL database) in order to accomplish a task I was assigned to. Finally I was able to do it. I'd be glad if it will be of any use.
    First of all: the original question was related to an applet. So, the post from rkippen should be read. It says almost everything, leaving the code job for us. Since I managed to write some code, I'll put it here, but I'm not dealing with the byte transferring issue.
    To obtain a byte array from a file I'd open the file with FileInputStream and use a loop to read bytes from it and save them into a ByteArrayOutputStream object. The ByteArrayOutputStream class has a method named toByteArray() which returns an array of bytes (byte [] b = baos.toByteArray()) that can be transferred in a socket connection, as said by rkippen.
    My problem was to save an image captured by a web camera. I had an Image object, which I converted into a byte array and saved into the database. Eventually I had to read the image and show it to the user.
    The table in the MySQL database could be:
    CREATE TABLE  test (
      id int(11) NOT NULL auto_increment,
      img blob NOT NULL,
      PRIMARY KEY  (id)
    )I had problems trying to use the setBlob and getBlob methods in the Statement object, so I used the setBytes and getBytes methods . In the end, I liked these methods most because they where more suitable to my application.
    The database operations are:
        public int insertImage(Image image) throws SQLException {
            int id = -1;
            String sql = "insert into test (img) values (?)\n";
            PreparedStatement ps = this.getStatement(sql);  // this method is trivial
            byte [] bytes = this.getBytes(imagem); // * see below
            ps.setBytes(1, bytes);
            ps.executeUpdate();
            id = ps.getGeneratedKeys().getInt(0); //Actually I couldn't make this line work yet.
            return id;
        public Image selectImage(int id) throws SQLException {
            Image img = null;
            String sql = "select img from test where id = ?\n";
            PreparedStatement ps = getStatement(sql);
            ps.setInt(1, id);
            ResultSet rs = ps.executeQuery();
            if (rs.next()) {
                byte [] bytes = rs.getBytes(1);
                img = this.getImage(bytes); // * see below
            return img;
        }* If the bytes are read directly from a file, I think it is not necessary to convert it into an Image. Just send the bytes to the database method would work. On the other hand, if the image read form the DB will be written directly into files, the bytes obtained from rs.getBytes(1) would be enough.
    The image operations are:
        public byte [] getBytes(Image image) {
            ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
            try {
                ImageIO.write(this.getBufferedImage(image), "JPEG", baos);
            } catch (IOException ex) {
                throw new RuntimeException(ex);
            return baos.toByteArray();
        public Image getImage(byte [] bytes)  {
            Image image = null;
            ByteArrayInputStream bais = new ByteArrayInputStream(bytes);
            try {
                image = ImageIO.read(bais);
            } catch (IOException ex) {
                throw new RuntimeException(ex);
            return image;
        public BufferedImage getBufferedImage(Image image) {
            int width = image.getWidth(null);
            int height = image.getHeight(null);
            BufferedImage bi = new BufferedImage(width, height, BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
            Graphics2D g2d = bi.createGraphics();
            g2d.drawImage(image, 0, 0, null);
            return bi;
        }That's it. I hope it is useful.

  • Insert Fixed Width data into SQL database.

    I have a file sent from a client that I need to get into a SQL database.
    The file name is ELIG and it is in a flat file, fixed width format.
    I am just going round and round how to get the data into a database using SSMS.
    Because another user is going to be doing this in the future it needs to be easy.
    I tried tasks, import data, flat file, file path and then "Fixed Width", but it puts all of it in one field.
    the data does NOT have headers either.
    I'm not good at this kind of thing so would appreciate any help I can get.
    Gee

    Yes I saw Uri's request and I'd love to comply, since this is giving me such a hard time, but the data is too sensitive and I would be shunned by my employer and thrown out into the street.
    I've been all over google trying to find a solution.  I'm still a bit of a novice, but even so, I have never found data that is so hard to normalize.  Just error after error.
    Gee
    Hi Gee,
    I can understand your issue :-)
    it is a common issue that people think that we can read minds, troubleshoot issues without having the option to test it and without any information regarding the issues. It is like going to the children doctor and ask him to treat your children without taking
    the your children to the doctor. If you can not take the children to the doctor, then you  might need to take a doctor to the your children!
    Troubleshooting can be tedious, because there may be quite some information you will need to supply. If you can not post the information in public, then maybe you need to get a private supporting, but this will cost you (your boss/company).
    Option 1: Create a case study which is based on your real issue. Use different DDL and DML (database structure and data) than the real database, and reproduce the issue in a way that you can post us the information that we need. We have
    to get the ability to reproduce the issue in our server as well, if you need our support.
    Option 2: Use the real database information with private support,
    after the supporter sign a Confidentiality agreement. If you check people profiles in the forum, then you will find that most of the supporters here are actually work as consultants and they give support on a daily
    bases. This is our job. In the forum we come to help volunteer, but
    there is a reason why people continue to pay for support. free public support do not fit all :-)

  • Using the Borland Database Engine to read AND write SHARED Paradox Database Tables

    I need to read and write Paradox database tables with a C# AT THE SAME TIME AS people using the Paradox tables with legacy Paradox programs interactively.
    I think the only way to do that reliably without corrupting the tables is to use the BDE Borland Database Engine.
    Does anyone know how to do that? I found this c++ program... But I don't know how to integrate this into c#
    http://www.codeproject.com/KB/database/bdedatabase.aspx
    Is there another way to do this? Again, most important, I don't want to corrupt the paradox database.
    I can read the paradox records all day long, that is no problem, it is updating at the same time as the legacy program users..
    I also know that the whole thing needs to be updated, but that can not be done overnight.
    Thanks in advance
    Dave

    Being pretty new to programming, I am trying just to read info from Paradox tables with C#. Info is actively being updated from another program at the same time. The program I am trying to write only needs to read data. The other program does use the BDE,
    so it is already present running on the computer.
    I've been looking at code but just haven't found quite the right combination.
    Thanks. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I guess, you can use the Oracle InterOffice Product for your

    Using UTL_FILE i'm able to read csv file. I'm stuck up in appending some more columns to same csvYou'll struggle to append data to an existing CSV.
    You'd be better to read the data from one CSV, and create another CSV using that data, and the extra data you want, and then when finished, delete the original file and rename the new file to the old filename.
    You should be able to do that using External Tables to read the source file (easier than using UTL_FILE) and UTL_FILE to write the new file.

  • Insert data into sql database where the values are in an array

    Hello Experts,
    using vbscript i want to store data in MS SQL. i have prepared a script which works fine when i provide the static value but in actual i get the values in an array and now want to store values from there.
    Below is not complete code but the block in question.
    oRecordset_Working.Open "INSERT INTO tbl_work (release, version, state, Arch)" & _
    "VALUES ('5.2', '11.25' , 'Active', 'XYZ')", _
    oConnection, adOpenStatic, adLockOptimistic
    i verified the database and can see the information is feeded.
    What i really want to make work is:
    for i=0 to UBound (arrValues)
    oRecordset_Working.Open "INSERT INTO tbl_work (release, version, state, Arch)" & _
    "VALUES ('arrValues(i)')", _
    oConnection, adOpenStatic, adLockOptimistic
    Next
    logically it is incorrect as INSERT query comes inside the loop but then how can someone make it work?
    can someone help me with this?
    -KAKA-

    Here is the preferred method of inserting multiple values into multiple fields.  It is very fast and very easy to set up.
    Const adBSTR = 8
    Const adInput = 1
    Const CONNECTION_STRING = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=c:\temp\test.mdb;Persist Security Info=False"
    Const SQL_INSERT = "INSERT INTO Table1(ID, Name, Notes) VALUES(?, ?, ?)"
    Set conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    conn.Open(CONNECTION_STRING)
    Set cmd = CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
    With cmd
    .ActiveConnection = conn
    .CommandText = SQL_INSERT
    .Prepared = True
    ' create parameter object and assign to command object
    .Parameters.Append .CreateParameter("ID", adBSTR, adInput)
    .Parameters.Append .CreateParameter("Name", adBSTR, adInput)
    .Parameters.Append .CreateParameter("Notes", adBSTR, adInput)
    End With
    ' bind and insert values
    For i = 2 To 10
    cmd.Parameters("ID") = "ID" & i
    cmd.Parameters("Name") = "Joe" & i
    cmd.Parameters("Notes") = "My notes"
    cmd.Execute
    Next
    conn.Close
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Error upon inserting data in sql Database using stream analytics job: Datatye error conversion

    I have a data passed into the Event Hubs, queried by stream analytic job inserting it into sql database. Upon running the job, it becomes idle a few seconds after since it has an error:
    Message: Conversion from 0 to System.Boolean failed. 0 was of type - System.Int64.
    Conversion from 0 to System.Boolean failed. 0 was of type - System.Int64. Exception message at level [1], exception number [0], parent exception number [0]: Conversion from 0 to System.Boolean failed. 0 was of type - System.Int64.
    The data type in one of my field(IsHistorical) is Boolean with a value of false. The data type of the column in the sql table where this is to be inserted is of type bit. In this case, it seems that stream analytics could not convert the value "false"
    into a bit data type when inserting in sql table.
    I'm wondering if you already have encountered this problem. Could you help me resolve this problem?
    Thank you.

    Azure Stream Analytics does not have Boolean type. On input we will convert JSON Boolean value to bigint.
    Here is the list of supported types and conversions:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn835065.aspx
    You  can fix this erro by changing column type from bit to int in SQL table schema.

  • How to restore sql database in Private Azure Cloud subscription?

    I want to restore my database bacpac file
    into Private
    cloud Azure Subscription but I do not get any option in Azure portal :(
    Is there any way to do this?
    questions I asked here at stackoverflow
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28847844/how-to-restore-sql-database-in-private-azure-cloud-subscription

    Hi itsashuthinks,
    Currently for private cloud Azure there is no Import/Export Service to import your BACPAC file into SQL Database.
    Because of this you will need to use client tools.
    The process to do this is the following.
    Open SSMS and connect to your cloud server.
    Right click on "Databases" under your server in object explorer and select import data-tier application.
    Follow the import wizard instructions to start the import.
    Learn more about Data-tier applications and migrations here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee210546.aspx
    Hope this helps!

  • Insert a large file into a Database?

    I have the following situation and am unsure of the best solution.
    I have to do an update on a record within an MS SQL Server database, adding files that are potentially 50mb plus in size.
    Basically I would like to read this file into the database bit by bit so as not to get OutOfMemoryExceptions thrown whilst attempting to load a large file into memory.
    Is there a way I can open the file and read x number of bytes at a time into the database, say with the FileInputStream.read(byte[]) in a while loop.

    My preference would be to save the path of the file to the Database, but the requirements state the file has to be stored within a Database!
    My problem is I am not sure if the preparedStatement.setBinaryStream() will work the way I would like.
    I think this:
    preparedStatement.setBinaryStream( 1, in.read(), 50000);
    will just read the whole file into memory and error with OutOfMemoryException. Or will it read in a byte at a time?
    I would like to Do Something like:
    byte[] data = new byte[1024];
    preparedStatement.setBinaryStream( 1,
    while((eof = in.read(data)) != -1), 50000);
    which obviously will not work, but I hope you get what I would like to try and do.
    Put in words "pass small portions of the file from the Disk through JDBC into the database till the End Of File is reached".
    Thanks for the response in advance.
