"No tables found in XLSX" file?
I created an XLSX file in Excel Online and downloaded it. But when importing to Siena it says "No Tables" found.
The spreadsheet has lots of cells of text in column A. Am I doing something wrong? It is like this:
A
1 Text
2 Text
3 Text
\^_^/
you need to format your data in Excel as a table. on the home tab, click the format as table icon. it does matter which style you choose, you just need a table. in Siena, your table will be Table1, unless you rename it in excel!

How to download internal table data to .xlsx file ?
Hello All,
I am using SAP ECC 6.0. I need to download internal table data to .xlsx file.
I tried GUI_DOWNLOAD, all the data are getting transferred to the .xlsx file, but while opening I am getting the below error.
Excel cannot open the file "download.xlsx" because file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.
Though Microsoft office 2007 is installed in my system.

Export .xlsx file from Webclient UI using abap2xlsx framework
Hello,
I have an urgent requirement to export the contents of internal tables to a .xlsx file using abap2xlsx framework.
Classes like CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES or FM's like GUI_DOWNLOAD doesn't work for Webclient UI.
Could anyone suggest me the proper stepwise solution with code snippet.
Regards,
SuyogHi Suyog,
Do you want to download the table view contents to a xls file right?? Is my understanding is correct?
IF it is then go to the .html page of your table view and there fill the attribute downloadToexcel.
Data: lv_excel type string.
Further clarification check the view BT115QIT_SLSQ/Items.

I know I've REALLY struggled with this before. I just don't understand why this has to be soooooo difficult.
I can very easily do a straight Data Pump of a .xlsX File into a SQL Server Table using a normal Excel Connection and a normal Excel Source...simply converting Unicode to DT_STR and then using an OLE DB Destination of the SQL Server Table.
If I want to make the SSIS Package a little more flexible by allowing multiple .xlsX spreadsheets to be pumped in by using a Foreach Loop Container, the whole SSIS Package seems to go to hell in a hand basket. I simply do the following...
Put the Data Flow Task within the Foreach Loop Container
Add the Variable Mapping Variable User::FilePath that I defined as a Variable and a string within the FOreach Loop Container
I change the Excel Connection and its Expression to be ExcelFilePath ==> @[User::FilePath]
I then try and change the Excel Source and its Data Access Mode to Table Name or view name variable and provide the Variable Name User::FilePath
And that's when I run into trouble...
Exception from HRESULT: 0xC02020E8
Error at Data Flow Task [Excel Source [56]]:SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occured. Error code: 0x80004005.
Error at Data Flow Task [Excel Source [56]]: Opening a rowset for "...(the EXACT Path and .xlsx File Name)...". Check that the object exists in the database. (And I know it's there!!!)
I don't understand by adding a Foreach Loop Container to try and make this as efficient as possible has caused such an error unless I'm overlooking something. I have even tried delaying my validations and that doesn't seem to help.
I have looked hard in Google and even YouTube to try and find a solution for this but for the life of me I cannot seem to find anything on pumping a .xlsX file into SQL Server using a Foreach Loop Container.
Can ANYONE please help me out here? I'm at the end of my rope trying to get this to work. I think the last time I was in this quandry, trying to pump a .xlsX File into a SQL Server Table using a Foreach Loop Container in SSIS, I actually wrote a C# Script
to write the contents of the .xlsX File into a .csv File and then Actually used the .csv File to pump the data into a SQL Server Table.
Thanks for your review and am hoping and praying for a reply and solution.Hi ITBobbyP,
If I understand correctly, you want to load data from multiple sheets in an .xlsx file into a SQL Server table.
If in this scenario, please refer to the following tips:
The Foreach Loop container should be configured as shown below:
Enumerator: Foreach ADO.NET Schema Rowset Enumerator
Connection String: The OLE DB Connection String for the excel file.
Schema: Tables.
In the Variable Mapping, map the variable to Sheet_Name, and change the Index from 0 to 2.
The connection string for Excel Connection Manager is the original one, we needn’t make any change.
Change Table Name or View name to the variable Sheet_Name.
If you want to load data from multiple sheets in multiple .xlsx files into a SQL Server table, please refer to following thread:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7411741/how-to-loop-through-excel-files-and-load-them-into-a-database-using-ssis-package

How to import the data in a .xls or .xlsx file into a oracle database table
Hi,
Please tell me how to import the data in a .xls or .xlsx file into a oracle database table in Oracle 10gR2 using Oracle Warehouse Builder 10gR2.....can we do something through Non-Oracle->ODBC?Yes, it is possible, look at this thread
[SQLServer access from AIX Warehouse builder|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2502982]
If your server (with target DB and OWB runtime) is on Windows OS this configuration will be simpler - you can use single server.
And additional link on OWB blog (with 11g transparent gateway)
[http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2008/01/11g_heterogeneous_agent.html]
(configuring nonoracle connection with 10g generic connectivity very similar to 11g gateway)
Also look at

Uploading data from a xlsx file into an Oracle table
Hi All,
I want to know what would be the best approach and tool to upload the data from an xlsx (excel) sheet into an Oracle table.
Can I use 'sqlldr'?
~ParagParag Kalra wrote:
What if the excel sheet is exported from some other third party database and not explicitly generated on Windows? I know if we can export it to excel why can't we also export it to csv but what if that option is also not available.
Also what things do I need to take into account when I export a xlsx file to csv file. I mean I hope in no circumstances there would be a data loss.How about instead of of these "what ifs" and "I hopes" you tell us exactly what you have to work with and describe the real business problem. If you ask the wrong questions, you get the wrong answers.
You "hope" that there would be no data loss? Do you really think Excel would survive as a product, much less be the overwhelming dominant product of its type, if it screwed up something that fundamental? The only thing that will be lost is the formatting meta-data. -
So we have an Invoice .xlsx File from a 3rd party vendor. It contains two worksheets..."Enrolled" and "Engaged". The data and data columns in each worksheet is different. Is it possible to loop through multiple .xlsx files using SSIS
and a Foreach Loop Container for each spreadsheet, and then another Foreach Loop Container to control each worksheet, and pump the Excel data into a SQL Server Table first for "Enrolled" and then for "Engaged"? How can I control the Foreach
Loop Container in SSIS to process ONLY the "Enrolled" worksheet first? And then the "Engaged" worksheet next?
I know I have multiples out here and I apologize for that...but right now it seems as though I take three steps forward and then two back.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks in advance!If the structure of the Excel sheets does not change from file to file then you can by having one ForEach Loop processing always the "Enrolled" sheet and another always the "Engaged" this is doable because the Excel OLEDB connector allows
to pick individual sheets, it is problematic therefore when sheet names themselves change.
MSDN has an example: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-ca/library/ms345182.aspx

My head is spinning...soooooo here's the deal...
The client provides us a .xlsx File. Now I have no idea how this is created and saved...via Excel 2007...Excel 2010
When I attempt sourcing the .xlsx File in my SSIS Package I get the error "External Table is not in the expected format"
Sooooo, I figure I'd write a C# Edit Script to read .xlsx File and Save it as a .xls file using the following syntax...
string StrFileName = (Dts.Variables["User::FileName"].Value.ToString());
StrFileName = Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(StrFileName);
string StringSourceFile = (Dts.Variables["User::FilePath"].Value.ToString()) + StrFileName + ".xlsx";
string StringDestinationFile = (Dts.Variables["User::FilePath"].Value.ToString()) + StrFileName + ".xls";
// This initiates the Excel Application
Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application excelApplication = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Application();
// This Opens the Source .xlsx File from Emdeon ePaySmart
Workbook workbook = excelApplication.Workbooks.Open(StringSourceFile, XlUpdateLinks.xlUpdateLinksNever, true, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
// This will Save the Source .xlsx Emdeon ePaySmart File as a .xls File...note xlFileFormat.xlExcel5
workbook.SaveAs(StringDestinationFile, XlFileFormat.xlExcel8, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, XlSaveAsAccessMode.xlExclusive, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
// This will Close the Source
workbook.Close(false, Type.Missing, Type.Missing);
// This shuts down the Excel Application
excelApplication.Quit();
Note xlFileFormat.xlExcel8
Now this worked PERFECTLY client side. Then when I created a SQL Server Agent Job it blew up and from what I read the SQL Server Agent Job does not like running dynamic Excel commands.
Soooooooo now I'm back at the drawing board and figured I'd use OLE DB to source the file.
I am using this Connection String for the .xlsx File
string StringConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + sourceFile + ";Extended Properties=\"Excel 8.0;HDR=Yes;IMEX=1\"";
Now I understand that the OLEDB.4.0 Connection string is incorrect for a .xlsx File. (Which is why I probably tried to do this with dynamic Excel commands to begin with)
Now comes the chicken and the egg problem...
If instead I try using the OLEDB.12.0 Connection String it tells me it isn't installed
My network, copied Microsoft Office 2010 installed is 32-bit
So if I try to install the 64-bit Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 it tells me I have to Uninstall Microsoft Office 2010. Well that is not possible
So my question is this...How in God's name can I try and process this .xlsx File??? I am at a complete loss here.
I did come upon this Posting previously...in italics below but it fell short in terms of providing a solution.
Can anyone please help me out here?
Thanks in advance for your review and am hopeful for a reply.

When I create my connection manager to connect to a .xlsx file, I get the error message that says:
"Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. External table is not in the expected format."
The provider selected was the ole db "Microsoft office 12.0 Access Database Engine...", and in the All tab I entered "Excel
12.0" at the top where it says Extended properties.
Here is the stumper:
My import package(s) has (have) been running manually for the last 2-3 weeks, but now i've finished an automated system that downloads
the files from the ftp site, unzips them, validates all the expected files are there, renames and relocates the files to the names/locations expected by my ETL, and then runs the ETL.
I found out today that the people who manually did this process were each time opening the file and then saving it to the correct location
in Excel 2007.
When I try to run my ETL on the files in the automated process, it fails with the above error. If, however, I just open the file and
save it (also in 2007), it runs fine. I have been trying to figure out what saving the file is doing to change it to be in the expected format.
I have tried to use an excel 2003 connection to connect to a copy of the file with a modified extension of .xls and that didn't work.
(in case it was in another version of excel and someone just changed the ext)
I then tried to access the file with the OLE DB provider, as above, but instead of entering 12.0 on the Extended properties line, entering
9.0 or 14.0 in turn (creating new sources/connections each time), and when I do that, both times I get an error that says:
“Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Could not find installable ISAM.”
Am I missing something? Is there something else that simply opening and saving the file might be doing to make it paletable to ssis?
If we install excel on the db server I realize i could probably open it up and save it as excel 2007 and that would do the trick, but
the dba is resistant to this idea, so I thought I'd see if anyone has any other ideas?
If we do have to install excel on that server, does the version have to be excel 2007 in order to programmatically save it as type 2007?
thanks in advance for your thoughts on the issue...You just need to install the latest ACE OLEDB (JET) provider, then when you set the package to run use a proxy with proper rights to access the Excel file on the file system.

Services for Object - Store Business Documents (issue with XLSX files)
Hi,
We are using the Services for Object > Store Business Document to be able to drag and drop files into (for example) Sales Inquiry, Sales Order, Sales Quotations etc.
Within OAC2 we have set up the global document types and these have been linked to the relevant Object Types and Content Repositories in OAC3. We have also set up the Content Repository as Document Area 'ARCHLINK'.
The ArhciveLink Basic Settings in OAG1 have the 'Always Copy Document Class from Document Type' set under Storage Settings.
The issue we are having is with XLSX document types. When we drag and drop the XLSX documen type using the Store Business Document the file is stored against the Sales Order but when you come to view the attachments MS Excel opens but an error message appears saying 'Excel cannot open the file '******' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'?
We have reviewed SAP notes 1925897, 1739026 and 1145885 however non appear to give me a clear answer as to why this is happening?
I have found that if we unselect the option 'Always Copy Document Class from Document Type' in OAG1 then we can open the XLSX files.
As we have a significant amount of documents attached to various objects, what would be the implications of making this change agianst existing records and new records?
Any advice on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Gary BHi David,
No joy I'm afraid!!
I added entry 'xlslx' with the relevant MIME Type, Application and Description into table TOADD for the ArchiveLink settings and also this entry was already in tables SDOKMIME and SDOKFEXT for KPro.
I then following the process via the Services for Object within VA12 (Change Inquiry) to then Create > Store Business document > Select the relevant Document Type > Drag and Drop the XLSX file into the empty box.
I then saved the record and tried to view the attachement but I am still getting the same message 'Excel cannot open the file '******' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'?
Our client is on componet SAP_BASIS release 701 Support Level 0014 and Support Package SAPKB70114 and I can see that note 1237688 is for SAPKB70112?

'Excel cannot open the file 'filename.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file'
Ok buttom is coming not able to open the file.
When i use the FM: SAP_CONVERT_TO_XLS_FORMAT to download the XLS it self it is going abap DUMP that file type error.
Any one help any Function Module or how to download data through abap programing into XLSX file.
Thanks.
Murali.
Message was edited by: Matthew Billingham - adjusted wording...If you want to download your ALV to an .XLXS format file, with all the formatting intact, please try the following code. I have tried to create a custom Function module Z_EXCEL_DOWNLOAD_TEST wherein I pass all the callback variables, the final ALV internal table and all the ALV details like field catalog, sort, layout, event list and so on, along with the concatenated file path and file name in I_FILE. I have used a custom class ZCL_SALVEXPORT_XML which is a copy of the standard class CL_SALV_EXPORT_XML_DIALOG, with few modifications in Method: EXECUTE and Method: DOWNLOAD. The methods where I have modified the code are also shown at the end.

Error when connecting XLSX file
Hi,
I have a xlsx file which made 8Mo with 7 sheets. Each of this sheeet is a report with EPM addin connection - to BFC or BPC cube.
When i try to create a request in webI based on this file, i have an error with this code : IES 10872 : Impossible d'ouvrir le classeur - see attached file.
When i convert this same file into xls. I success to charge it. (56Mo).
I try to identify the problem, and I saw this:
- The Add in the EPM contains multiple technical areas named in WebI that appear on the screen for changing the settings of the source excel (xls)
My questions are as follows:
- Is there a technical limitation of Webi to connect to a large xlsx file?
- Webi he communicates easily with reports EPM addin - table cells contain formulas like "OLAPMember ..."?
My work around is to use the xls file but it has limitations in view of the limited number of lines.
Thank you.This may be a file association problem. To solve that:
In Windows 7:
1. Right-click the file,
2. Select "Open With"
select [Your Program Here]
3. Check always use this program.
In Windows XP:
1. Locate the file as you have described above
2. Right click the file
3. Select Open with from the pop-up menu
4. Click Choose default program…
5. Select Excel in the Recommended Programs box
6. Check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
7. Click on OK.
1. Make Excel not available from Office 2007 listed under Programs and Features in Control Panel.
2. Take a registry backup using the steps given here
3. In the registry editor window expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and navigate to .xls right and delete it.
4. Exit Registry Editor
5. Undo Step 1 to make Excel available.
6. Restart the computer and verify it the issue is fixed.

SSIS package not able to connect to XLSX file under SQL Agent Job
I have a very simply package using an Excel connection to an XLSX file. It's a straight read of the file and import onto a table.
The package works fine in Visual Studio 2008 development and also runs fine when executing on the (server I copied it to) under Integration Services.
However, under a SQL Agent, the package (32-bit is checked) can not acquire the connection to an excel file. I use UNC pathing to the file. I've read other posts about similar problems and tried various scheduling options (including Owner of
job).
I even tried a to trigger it with a command-line which did not work:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\DTS\Binn\DTEXEC.exe" /sq "\our packages\My_XLSX_File_Import" /SERVER myserver /X86 /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
All errors are: "DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0209302."
I can certainly post more, if someone can help. Sorry, but I am not getting the right help form those posts.
Please, are there any hints at how I can get the Agent job to work?All errors are: "DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0209302."

Ensure that below correct drivers are installed on your target server because I see that file is

Hi Everyone,
I know there is a seperate thread about a similar issue
Namely Upload of XLSX File using XLS2COLLECTION
But the error message in that thread is different to what we are getting,
When trying to upload an XLSX file in Apex 4+ and the 2.0EA listener we get the following error message.
Error - Error while executing this process "Upload Supporting Documents" ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small

I have tried to look at the above packages but they are all obviscated.
Also, looking at the code in the APEX action, there was a table(rec_supporting_docs) that had a 50 length mime type column, which i changed to 255, but this has still not fixed it.
The code in the apex action is
declare
l_blob blob := null;
l_mime_type varchar2(50) := null;
begin
-- Get the uploaded supporting document
select blob_content, mime_type
into l_blob, l_mime_type

How to read xlsx files using file sender adapter in PI7.11
Hi All,
i have scenario where i need to read the xlsx file and convert it into idoc.
i have gone through the few bolgs
but not got proper result to read the xlsx file.
please guide me how can i achieve this scenario using standard way(like standard adapter modules,graphical mapping).
i saw in some blogs using API....
but i am not aware of the process of develop custom modules in PI.
please if there is any step by step process document to develop custom module for adapters.
thanks in advance.
maheshHI Hareesh,
i have gone through that blog.
i tried it...but i am getting mapping error no receiver determination fond because there are so many excel files.
my data is available on sharedString.xml but also it is in not same order.
i have no clue how to handle this part form the blog.
"This way our mapping will receive all data from the sheet in an XML format. The only thing that's left is to create an XSD file from the XML file we received in order to be able to use it in the mapping and as our Service Interface and we can proceed with mapping. As you can see from the sheet.xml files all the data is placed with column name and row number so it's not that difficult to map it to an table type format using the Message Mapping only (no java, abap mapping required)." -

Edited by: Phanikanth on Feb 28, 2013 7:42 AMHi,
can you describe what is happening when you run the ODI procedure described below:
- Does the procedure fail with an error, if yes, which error(full details)?
- Does the procedure pass but no xslx file is been created?
- Does the procedure pass and an xslx file is been created, but Excel can't read it? If yes, what is the structure of the xslx file when read in an editor?
What I can see from your code below is that you have choosen -FILE_FORMAT=VARIABLE, but the XSLX format is supposed to be XML.

Alex
