Noise reduction using extended kalman filter

How do i go about eliminating noise from a signal using extended kalman filter in labview?
Regards,
KM

Dear Kamasani
Are there any updates regarding the subject of this threat?
I also want to use one of Kalman filters for noise removal but till now I can not figure out how to create the input matrices for the state space and noise models.
Thank you

    Dear fellow members,
Currently I am working on a research estimating tremor parameter from patients using Discrete Extended Kalman Filter.
I am from Nanyang Technological Univeristy Singapore.
Now, I face a problem in running the Kalman Filter. The error board keep saying that my E(v) has wrong dimension although I have checked my code several times but not find any mistakes in dimension.
    Please advice.
    Thank you.

  • Daydreaming - Noise reduction using iPhone mic

Wouldn't it be great if there was noise reduction software built-in in iPhone, which make use of the iPhone mic to monitor surrounding noise and do things like noise cancellation etc.?

Update: It turns out it isn't a 100% day dreaming -- Sony has announced the latest generation of walkman that features noise cancellation technology.

  • Noise reduction using "Set Noise Print" in Process Menu

I have FCP 5.2 with Pro Tools and have searched the forum for the specific technique mentioned several times but NOT detailed out sufficiently for me. I want to remove a hiss and can isolate with ins/outs in the audio track where there is no voice. (this is a voice over produced clip).
I can click on the track and see the wave forms in the viewer. I can also edit the in and out playing only the his.
From what I gather, I can now somehow "set Noise Print" doing something (?) and then somehow (?) copy this noise to the entire click for removal. I know I could probably go through an extensive equalizing trial and error but if I could try this first, it may be just what I need.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,

We would all love this to be an FCP question, because it would be fab if this could be done within FCP. But alas, it is a Soundtrack Pro feature. Select your clip and "Send To" Soundtrack and you'll find noise removal there.
I'm guessing Pro Tools does something similar, so if you're familiar with it maybe you want to look there.

  • Script for noise reduction

I would like to apply noise reduction using a script. I captured the noise profile then recorded the script.
When I play it back, nothing happens. If I select "stop at dialogs" then the noise reduction dialog comes up and tells me that I need to capture a profile.
Is there any way to use the existing captured profile in a script?
    Bruce

    Thank you, that did it!
For the benefit of anyone else wanting to use noise reduction in a script, here is all you need to do. Before recording the script, capture and save the noise profile. In the example below, it is saved to
    i C:\my_profile.fft.
Then record the script. In the noise reduction dialog, select
    i Load from Profile
and choose the profile you saved. Adjust any other parameters, do the noise reduction and save the script.
Here's an example of what a script that just does noise reduction looks like:

  • Accelerometer + Gyro Kalman Filter

    Hello,
Do you guys have any sample VIs to demostrate the Kalman filter particularly for an IMU that has a 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyro using LabVIEW's Control Design Toolkit? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    - James

    Hi to all!
I know this is an old topic, but i have a similiar issue. We are using a Kalman Filter, which differs from the embedded (in LV) ones and wish to port this filter to cRIO to run in real time.
I have ported most of the code (the simple version) to a couple of VIs and I would like to get it going in Real time. We have 9 IMU units therefore 9 separate (reentrant) filters have to run simultaneously, at 100 Hz. The sampling frequency is 200 Hz.
Firstly I would like to confirm, that the cRIO will be able to run the Kalman filters in Real time.
Could someone give me some guidelines and help me with the problems I am having:
    - One Kalman filter in a timed loop at every 10 ms works fine (i think, based on the tick count)
    - 9 Kalman filters work really slowly, at 1Hz!
I attach my VI's for illustration.
Now, in this version, the UKF is written in a MathScript node. There are two cases (which I should join, of course). First case, during the first 100 samples, we initialize the KF parameters and get the bias, the scaling factor etc..., and afterwards take this data into the KF and calculate the KF for the rest of the samples.
I have little experience with LV Real-Time and any suggestions as to making the code lighter and faster are appreciated. Thanks,
    Luka

  • Camera raw filter 8.x artifacts (not posterization, not banding) when using noise reduction

hi. i use camera raw filter for frequency separation, using noise reduction. And these strange lines keep appearing and messing everything up.
What is this and how do i get rid of them. Maybe it's a bug of some sort? It looks like ACR is breaking the image to pieces and working with them individually and combining them back.
If the sliders are not 100-0-0, the lines reduces, but is still there

I am seeing the same thing in a random test image someone else posted of buildings at night.  The discontinuity becomes more apparent if you maximize the sharpening but it is not there in the saved result so appears to be the difference between rendering for the display and rendering for output:
The output TIF does not have it:

  • Neato Video Noise Reduction Filter

    Merry Xmas
A fellow filmmmaker has used the 'Neato Video Noise' plug in with pretty good success. Was wondering if anyone else out there has tried it?
I have some underexposed footage shot on a DVX100, (low daylight footage), which I tried tweaking with the FCP HSL Filter. But as you may know, the HSL Filter must be used carefully (sparingly), or it will cause grain.
Anyone know if Neato's Noise Reduction Filter works more efficiently?

No, there are no built-in noise reduction filters.
There are a number of free and commercial solutions out there ... the free ones are obviously worth checking out but less capable (try TMTS Noise Reduction and Smart Noise Reduction), of the commercial filters http://www.neatvideo.com/ and http://www.revisionfx.com/products/denoise/ seem popular.

  • Workflow using a PS noise reduction action with LR???

OK, I've taken maybe 1200 pictures at a Volleyball tournament. I import them into LR and delete the OOF shots and keyword them with the players numbers. Then I filter for just one player's number and assign the ten best as picks...I need to do it by player number so each player ends up with the about the same number of pictures on the website. I repeat for the other nine players and now I have a a total of 100 picked photos.
Now I want to use a PS action for Noiseware to reduce the noise because LR's noise reduction isn't enough at ISO 3200. How can I get all of these to run as a "batch" in PS.
What I have been doing is to export these and then batch that folder in PS, but then I lose any keywords that went with the individual pictures.
    Help...Thanks,
    Bill

    Bill-
You shouldn't be losing keywords just by virtue of running a batch in PS- double check the image's info after Export and before batch operation.
Next, make a PS action to do this. Then, from that have it make a droplet. Place droplet in LR folder for such, then make a custom Export preset in LR that calls in the droplet at the end of the choices. (Choose sRGB for your color space)

  • Encore 2.0 Noise Reduction Filter Information

    Adobe Staff and Forum Members,
Would somebody please explain how changes in the noise reduction filter change video quality. It seems the standard setting is 30% and I don't have a manual with the trial version to understand what changes to make on order to best transcode older video. I'm waiting for my hard copy of Encore 2.0 now but in the mean time any information would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day!
    Thank you,
    Don

    > How much time does a change in the noise reduction filter have on transcoding time?
I don't have any hard data to quote, but it's significant (and also depends on whether you use CBR vs. VBR 2-pass). But offhand, I'd say the filter will at least double your transcode time. You may find the results worth the wait...the output preview should help you to decide this.

  • Noise reduction filter???

Does anyone know of a high quality FCP-compatible video noise reduction filter for HD footage? Is there even such a thing?

All of the software that works with this does this... soften the picture.
The controls are precise however, and I've used it with really low light footage to advantage.
Denoise is a video noise reduction filter plugin for FCP google it... render is awfully slooooooo. Color renders faster. free download of demo with big red x thru all footage I think. Lots more controls.

  • Noise reduction function built into built into graduated filter and adjustments brush!

Really useful functionality, but maybe the tool name shout be "Noise reduction" rather than "noise" for the graduated filter and adjustments brush.  If I understand it correctly, the way all the sliders work now is that that movement to the left decreases the function of the slider, and to the right increases the function - if that is the case, then by labelling the slider "noise" would suggest that moving to the right is increasing the noise when in fact it is the reverse!

The explanation is that "noise reduction" doesn't fit the available space in all languages.

  • Has anyone use the 'NeatVideo' noise reduction plugin?

Today I spend most of my time looking for a noise reduction technique in FCP and came across a couple of plugins.
    Noise reduction from Netvideo
    De Noise from Re-vision effects
Most of the people pick the plugin from Neatvideo because even after redction that grain and noise it re-tains the video quality but having said that it is very hign on the CPU usuage.
So I was wondering if anyone has given the full version a try on FCP?
    -A

Neat Video plug is great. Here's how I used it.
6 camera HDV 1080i 50, 100 min music shoot. Each Cam output was 2 x 50 min clips.
Half way through editing, I decided the HDV looked noisy because of a lot of low light footage, so tried the NV plug and got great results on a couple of clips. So I decided to process all the original Cam output and then substitute the files using FCPs reconnect process(just as I did with my photo-jpeg multi-clip footage) AND de-interlace at the same time.
Create Prores 422 sequence for each original cam clip in one FCP Project - 12 sequences.
Drag a HDV clip into each Sequence.
Drag the Nattress de-interlace plug onto each clip in each sequence and then the Neat Video Reduce Noise lug
Create the Device Noise Profile(which is actually the clip noise profile in my case) and add just a touch of sharpening in the Noise Filter Settings.
Select all the sequences in the browser and batch export them all as a quicktime movies.
Here's the sting in the tail - I then went on location for a month leaving the Mac Intel 8 core 3GHz on an uninterruptible power supply, to process it all.
When I returned it had taken 3 and a half weeks but looked very good. Luckily I'm away often!

  • Soundtrack Pro on the fly noise reduction filter?

The microphone I use for voiceovers has some fuzzyness that I always end up having to clean up afterwards by taking a noise print sample and then applying the filter.  Since I am always using the same mic for this, is there a way to create a preset filter on the front end (as I am recording) so I don't have to go back and reprocess the noise reduction afterwards?  Basically I am looking for a way to create a microphone profile and apply the filter on the fly so I can streamline my work flow.
    Many thanks.
