Nokia firmware update via phone only

i have nokia 5233 , i backup the data thru ovi suite and tried to download firmware
1- it gave me network error,
I solve it by deleting Gte certificates
2- now running for update still give same network error
3- Nokia ovi suite does nt have pause or resume option to stop the downloading
4- I tried to download the firmware thru my phone it shows Update via pc which is nt working
And i want to download firmware thru phone only
Help will be appreciated

No, sounds like when you dropped it an cracked the screen it may have also damaged the logic board or the repair person damaged a cable.

Please nokia. Is there any system or downloadable application that can download and install new Nokia E63 software(software updater over OTA)?. Firmware update via Java/USB/PCSuite?

Lets say Nokia solved some bugs on the N95.
Is it possible to update that new firmware via PC?
For example: I have Nokia Version "N95-1". And then there is the new updated version "N95-2".
Will it be possible to update the N95 with PC Suite OR do I have to send my N95 to the Nokia Service Center?
If it is possible, WHY are some people waiting to buy a N95??? They could buy it now and upgrade it anytime via PC Suite! OR?

The short answer is yes, many are updated that way. But not yet, if you keep checking on the Nokia software updater page you will see many updateable phones but not as yet the N95, I'd imagine as soon as an update is made available the N95 will be supported in this way.

Firmware update via mobile WI-FI help!

I would like to update my N95's software to newest version. Since i cant update it via pc i would lik to update via mobile ( via Wi-Fi) . But the problem is that in phone there is not any application that can check for updates.When i type `#0000# it only shows the newest version,there are not any options . So what should i to to update my phone? This is immportant for me so pls any help. Thanks!

Nokia Firmware Update Lacking Accuracy & Consisten...

I own a Nokia N73 Music Edition, was perfectly working fine since i bought but one day while surfing Nokia web site i found Nokia Software Updater and from then onwards the actual problem started after updating though it was successful, i have a question for who is responsible for making the firmware for Nokia N73 that before launching it on the web for update they don't test it or what, why only we the consumers suffer and i have found that one new firmware update version 4.0839.42.0.1 is available on the site but when i read the discussions page i found that this firmware also has a problem, so i am not going to update this firmware to make my cell the worse.
Problem i'm facing since the update:
In the middle of any conversation the phone automatically restarts and this is happening frequently nowadays and i have not installed any third party software in my cell, all the default software's are installed.
I want my problem to be solved as soon as possible.
Note: Please test the Firmware before releasing on the site, so that we the consumers don't have to suffer.

You can probably not bother with videos, photos and music, especially if you store them on the memory card as that should be untouched by the reset. They also take a long time to back up and I've found it can fail the backup for some reason. Instead I copy them off manually or sync photos, videos & music using Ovi Suite's sync functionality. The backup I do with the backup option in Ovi Suite.
Oh, and if you have apps installed on the memory card, the phone may try to install them after the reset. If you want to avoid that, then it may be worth removing the memory card for the reset, but it will still try and install them when you put the card back in.

Camera firmware update via USB thru ImageBrowser EX?

Hello everyone!
I recently made my first ever Canon camera in the history of the universe (Powershot SX280 HS) and it's amazing.
I have a question, though, about firmware updates.
When I launch ImageBrowser EX, and click on the button to "update to latest version" with my camera connected to my computer via USB, does this update the firmware too? Or does this only update ImageBrowser EX?
I understand that updating the firmware requires me to download a file from my product's support page and manually installing it using a memory card. But I was wondering if updating through USB is also possible.

I am pretty sure you have to do it the way Canon tells you to in its documentation on the support page for the 280, i.e. copying the firmware file to a card in a card reader. There is no mention of ImageBrowser in the documentation. Updating via ImageBrowser is probably just for the browser software on your computer. Most things can be done via USB but updating firmware is usually a pretty rare thing except for this particular model camera which has seen two updates so far and I wish would see another (since I too am verging on returning it to the store before my 30 days are up, the day after I get home from vacation). The issues improved with the updates but are still there (see very long thread about battery issues in this forum).

Xperia Z2 Firmware Update via PC Companion = FAIL!

I appologize if this is a duplicate post. I searched the forum before posting but it seemed similar posts weren't exactly the same issue(s) I'm experiencing.
I'm getting the notification that there is a firmware update for my Xperia Z2 tablet but that I am required to use PC Companion to download/install it. However, for some reason PC Companion refuses to detect that my tablet is connected. I've tried multiple usb ports and two different computers. Under device manager it doesn't show any device driver issues and the usb drivers are installed and up-to-date. However I constantly run into error message after error message. The tablet is set to MTP mode and connected via the included Sony usb cable. I've followed every wizard, prompt, guide, etc. but in the end PC Companion still says there's no phone/tablet connected. Would be so much easier if it would just download the update to the tablet like EVERY other android device I own does.

Hello Forum!
Because I don't have broadband, I was wondering if Apple mails a CD w/ software and firmware updates.
I need the following updates according to Apple:
Java for Mac OS X 10.4 Release 5.0
Airport Extreme 2007 1.0
iPhoto update 6.0.6
Battery update 1.2
Superdrive firmware update 2.1
iTunes 7.3
Mac OS X update combo. 10.4.10

Apple does not usually provide updates via CDs to individuals. However, if you were to pop down to the Cincinnati Apple store with a blank CD, they'd probably help you get the updates. Or you could just use their own free Wi-Fi network to download the updates directly to your MacBook.

Ok, so I synched my iphone 4 to my computer recently and now when I go to play music on my phone, only the songs I've bought on Itunes play. I put all of my music collection that is in CD form on my computer and it used to play on my phone too, but now it just skips those songs. They still play on my computer though. I've been trying to figure out what the problem is for over three days or so and am about to loose my friggin mind! Can anyone help me?

De-sync all your music to remove it from the device, then restart (hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go). Now re-sync your music.

No, the 1200 is too basic to be supported by the NSU. None of the budget 1xxx or 2xxx models can be updated in this way.
It can only be updated at a nokia care point.

I didn't have any problems with the phone. It's just when I originally got the phone about a year ago I was enthusiatic about updating the firmware as this had solved many problems on my previous N73 but I couldn't find an update. I had thought that a pre-emptive strike was in order before I started to use the phone.
Having become used to the E71, I really like it, I thought I'd check to see if a software update was available as it hadn't been when I first had the phone.
The only problems I've had weren't really phone specific e.g. the positioning server for the assisted-gps needed changing and I had to buy Adobe Reader LE 2.5 to be able to usefully read documents i.e. word re-flow and large file sizes and was so greatful that Opera released mini beta 5 - excellent.
When I upgrade firmware on a PC you always get a chance to backup the original just in case things don't work out so you can get back to a working state. This doesn't seem to apply in the World of mobile phones. When you update firmware on a PC it doesn't stop programmes from working.
During the update process you are asked to ensure that your memory card is not encrypted or locked. Not very clear. It would be much better if you were warned to un-install security programmes, then backup, then update, then restore, then re-install security programmes. It would be truely wonderful if you could backup or download the original firmware just in case or make an image of the phones present state so that this could be replaced intact if necessary.
Does anything like that exist for the S60 platform?

Nokia Belle update failure - phone now bricked

I happened to see my phone(N8) telling me that an update was available and I had to perform the operation through PC suite rather than previous FOTA methods. Strange, but I was very excited to try my hands on Belle. I setup the battleground for the update. Got the latest Suite(3.3.86), downloaded the firmware through it, and started the update.
The suite tookup the backup of the phone contents and then started to update. The update procedure asked to ignore any windows complaints of USB device being unplugged, and I just followed. After sometime, a pop-up comes saying that the communication with the device failed, and I need to press the power key for 10s. I performed and three vibrations came. Nothing happened. I kept waiting for much more time and later terminated the process to see my phone is bricked.
My attempts to search to reset the phone to some factory setting(I wonder why 16GN eMMC was required then) also failed. There is no way one can get his phone back if the update fails. Now its not strange for me why Nokia is a failure brand.
I purchased N8 believing the quality of Nokia phones. Initial updates like Anna and other minor updates to it went on well. I am now unhappy with Nokia. I think the whole process of update is pain. I am not sure why, but the method chosen to update was painsome. I hope someone responsible in Nokia would read this, and I want to tell them, N8 would be your brand's last phone to be owned by me, even if you sell moon through microsoft(another pain company) in future.

As of now, your only option is a three finger reset mentioned by Tim. Try it. You've nothing to lose. I hope you've a back up of all data. If that doesn't boot up your phone, then take it to a nearest Nokia care.

Hello, Im from Costa Rica and I bought the N8 from Amazon 2 months ago, everything working great till last week, I have slow responsiveness on everything, so I backed up all data and, via OVI suite, I restored the software on the phone. Everything went OK, cellphone speed back to normal... But the agenda was not working 2 days later I did the exact same procedure as before, cellphone connected to power and USB cable, hit on the restored option, procedure started, I got message that the cellphone was restarting but it never came up. Right now there's no light on the cell, I can't see the mass storage device via USB, I can only see the NOKIA USB flashing parent and NOKIA USB flashing generic when I connect it to the PC. I have try hard reset (volumen down + camera button + action button) and removing the battery for 1 hour with no luck, I can't restore my back-up because OVI suite can't detect my N8 and I can't take my phone to nokia cause IM in Costa Rica and I bought the cellphone in USA. I know 1 have 10 months left of warranty but is not that easy to send my phone 2 another country mainly cause of $$$. Have anyone faced this problem? I can't find much info on the web and the authorized nokia place in Costa Rica will validate warranty with phones sold by them (not my case and can't believe nokia is OK with these). Ask the Nokia Care Centre where you live the cost of restoring your Nokia unit. It may not be that much and outweight the cost of mailing it to where you purchased it from.
On hindsight its nice to purchase the unit for a little less from another country, but then loses its shine if an issue occurs, and the Nokia Care centre in your own country wont touch it as per warranty policy.
Learning curve is next time purchase local my friend.
