Nook can't recognize ADE's */acsm file types.

Previous ADE file types */prn worked fine on my Nook. Now I'm getting */acsm files from my library via ADE. Nook doesn't recognize them. Others have posted this problem. Will ADE help us?

Make sure that "DiskImageMounter.app" is selected as the app to open all .dmg files...

  • How can a .mov be an "unsupported file type"?

I've saved a PowerPoint presentation as a .mov and it plays fine on its own (as a quicktime movie.) It also shows up as availabe file in my "movies" pane. However, when I try to drag it into a drop zone, I get the following error message: "Unsupported File Type: Unknown Format" but it's a .mov file!??
    What's going on?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I'm going to answer my own question so others may benefit
After some serious thinking I did the following and it worked: I imported the .mov file (in this case a PowerPoint presentation) into iMovie where it became a simple clip, then saved that as a new .mov, and now it's suddenly recognizable to iDVD! Simple, huh? I bet it works with all kinds of "unsupported file types" as long as you can get them into iMovie...

  • Can I only search for specific file types?

Oftentimes I need to pickup just the InDesign file. I sort by type but there are word docs, images (lots of them!), web pages, etc. Is there a way to search in Client A's folder and all sub-folders for just InDesign files? Thx.

You can use the filter panel for this. Click on the triangle in front of
File Type (if it is not already open yet because it does so the moment there
are two or more different File types in the folder you pointed Bridge to)
Click on the File type you want to show and only those will appear in the
    content window

  • All I can save a project under is .prproj - why can't I save under another file type?

I'm using a trial version to edit my Gopro videos that are in MP4 file type. after I edit the videos the only option that it offers is the .prproj which I can only use this software to watch my video afterwards. I want to save my project in the MP4 format and watch on whatever media player I want like I always do but it isn't allowing me to do so. Why is this? Is it because I am using a trial version? I was told that I can do what it is I'm trying to do and that the trial was a FULL working version. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Never mind. I was able to figure out the problem via YouTube. Thanks anyway.

  • IPhoto 5 can not recognize Panasonic G1 RAW files.

I learned by an unfortunate experience that the iPhoto libraries are very sensitive. I have thousands of photos in these libraries, all backed up. I never upgraded from iPhoto 5, which came bundled with this Mac. I now have the Panasonic DMC-G1 digital camera. This camera is supposed to be compatible with iPhoto. iPhoto 5 can upload only jpegs but not the RAW images.
I once read where someone upgraded only to find a new iPhoto version could not recognize their old libraries. I don't want to mess with the these libraries and so I'd like to keep iPhoto 5 functioning.
Question: In order to get the newest version of iPhoto do I need to purchase iLife?
Question: Can I leave iPhoto 5 installed AND install a newer version that will be compatible with my Panasonic G1?

Newer versions of iPhoto (particularly iPhoto '09) are more stable and have more recovery features than iPhoto 5 does
In general if you stay out of the iPhoto library you will not have problems - although computers do fail and the backups are important (I have several backups including a daily clone, Time Machine and periodic backups to DVD )

While someone may have had this problem, it is not normal nor is it common - the general case is that libraries upgrade flawlessly and the vast majority of people find that after an upgrade their libraries are identical to the way they were before the upgrade
Question: In order to get the newest version of iPhoto do I need to purchase iLife?
    Yes
Question: Can I leave iPhoto 5 installed AND install a newer version that will be compatible with my Panasonic G1?
Yes - but it is easy to mess things up with multiple versions running and it would be very complicated to have your new photos in one library and your olds one in a different library (different versions of iPhoto can not access the same library)
I do not keep old versions of iPhoto - Old Toad does - if you want to do that ask here and he can advise on how to accomplish it and teh issues to watch for

I recently purchased QuickTime 7 Pro to convert avi files to mov files for editing on Imovie. However, QuickTime won't play the files. How can I get them to play and how can I convert them to mov files?
Both the AVI and the MOV file extensions refer to the file container and not the compressed data the file contains. Both are generic file containers in that each may contain any valid combination of audio and/or video data that is compatible with the codec component configuration of the system on which the file was created. On the other hand, whether a file is playback compatible, conversion compatible, and/or edit compatible depends on the data actually contained in the file container. So, you are basically dealing with two separate issues here—the container and what is inside it.
Basically, if you want to make your files ediit compatible with iMovie, you must change your file container to one that is acceptable to iMovie and convert the data to edit compatible audio and/or video compression formats as may be necessary. The best approach is to determine what codecs were actually used to create the original AVI files and add them to your system if possible. In most cases a codec package like Perian can be added to your system's codec component configuration to may the AVI file playable. Once they are playable, in the QT 7 app then they can be chnged or converted to file types and compression formats that can be edited in iMovie. (While Perian handles most codecs commonly used to create AVI files, it does not handle all possibilities and, while the Perian codec package still works under cureent Mac OS versions, its development group has decided to drop further development/support of the package.)
Background: AVI is a file container originally developed by Microsoft back in 1992 but for which official support was discontinued about 11 years. Despite its limitations, Windows users still tend to use this file based on its open source ease of use and generic nature, thus, making its use so popular that most users are unwilling to switch to more modern but less generic file types. Since some AVI legacy compression formats have never been transcoded for the Mac or use beyond OS 9 or OS X PPC platforms, it is often important to know what specific compression formats are contained in the AVI file to know which codecs to add to your system and which not to add in order to avoid possible codec conflicts.
You can use many different converters to convert AVI files to iMovie edit compatible files. Most third-party apps contain their own buit-in codecs which do not relay on the Mac codec component configuration. Free ones, like HandBrake, usually have limited conversion capabilities while those that have more varied outputs are usually commercial in nature and will cost you additional cash. QT 7 Pro or the free MPEG Streamclip app allow you to access you own system's component configuration and use any available codec component like DV, AIC, MPEG-4, H.264, Photo JPEG, etc.—all of which are iMovie compatible for editing purposes—but only after making the AVI file QT 7 player compatible.
In order to determine what compression formats wewre used in your AVI files you can
    1) Try checking the Finder "Info" window,
    2) Use the "Inspector", "Media Info", or "Properties" window of any player app that will open the file, or
    3) Use a general media utility app like "MediaInfo" to read the file characteristics.

  • File Type Associations--no mp4

From Alias(.pix) to XML (.xml), I can find NO mp4 in the File Type Association list, found in the Edit-Preferences dialogue.
    What?
    No mp4?!?!

I don't think mp4 and mp4a are the same thing.
    Try this:
    http://www.ehow.com/info_12198542_mp4a-file.html
I did not go through all the info but it seems the 'a' stands for only audio.
Bridge can handle a lot of file type but by far not everything. It should handle all Adobe Suite possible filetypes but even this is still not the case. However trying to get all kinds of file types handled will be a big task

  • How to add file type fiter in FileUpload component in Java Web Dynpro

    Hi All,
In FileUpload UI, i want to set file type filter, for example as *.PDF, *.JPG, is that possibel in Java WebDynpro?
    Thanks a lot!
    Huang Jia

    hi!
you can achieve this filter thing of file type by just taking some strings for diffrent types as extension and assign those to the resource type .
    eg.
    String extension = ".doc";
    WDWebResourceType.getWebResourceTypeForFileExtension(extension));

  • Save as for Web gives inappropriate file type estimation

When I go to Save As For Web (and devices) I'm brought to the next screen that allows me to do a multitude of things. I can adjust the resolution of my image with many other settings but I can also, more specifically, change the file type and, upong changing the type, can see the estimated file size down on the bottom right.
The trouble is the estimated file size is stuck on the GIF format and doesn't repopulate when I change file types.Below is a screenshot of my difficulty.

Clearing my preferences file didn't work.

Ecto5 wrote:... OpenGL is enabled, as well.
I meant - you try if it works when OpenGL is disabled
As for fixing the problem, make sure you have the latest driver for your video card and if not, uninstall the old and install the latest driver.

  • Specify file type filter in FileReference.save

Is there a way to specify the file type filter in FileReference.save()?  It is possible to specifiy a default filename, but the user can potentially override this and the file type extensation can be lost.
Any other options to work around this, ?

I don't believe you can get that functionality using FileReference in Flash Player.

  • PS CS3 unknown file type (?)

    Hi
I've been working in PS CS3 with some images and went to open them tonight and PS gives me an error 'unknown file types' these images were created in PS CS3 and are .jpg
    Any ideas?

Do you have finder set to show file extensions?
If you aren't careful when saving, and when you rename a file from untitled.psd (default for new files in PS) to (name).jpg the extension can drop if you switch the file type first and then change the name. It may appear to save it as a jpg, but if it dropped the extension, the Mac Kernel will tell PS that it is an unknown file type, or a generic document and you'll see the error. Without showing extensions in Finder, you're none the wiser when it happens.
Finder>Preferences and Advanced. Check the box to show extensions. Then look at the files to see if the extension dropped when you saved them.
