Not enough memory to perform...Error

Hi,
I previously used PS CS on XP Pro and all was fine. I then upgraded to Vista. Since I reverted back to XP Pro I keep getting error messages.
When I use the 'Open as' command, I get:
"Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document" (yet it's a JPG) - works ok if I just usen File >Open.
When I try and shut/close down the file/program, I get:
"Could not complete the Close command becuase there is not enough memory (RAM)"
Strangley enought these messages then just disappear. Really stuggling to use this software due to the annoying pop up messages. Appreciate any advice. Thank you!

First, when you say you 'reverted' to XP Pro, I will assume you did a complete uninstall/reinstall of ALL software. If not, start there.
After that, try trashing your Prefs file (second item in the FAQ folder) http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.ef4a07f/0
If that doesn't do it, check your preferences in Adobe itself to see how much memory, etc. you are allowing it. Increase as necessary.
Beyond that, I'm just a minor wizard, junior grade. We'll have to hope that one of the Yodas will help.

  • Audition CS6 - "An error was encountered: Not enough memory to perform operation"

When I try to export my entire session using the "Multitrack Mixdown" I get this error message: "An error was encountered: Not enough memory to perform operation"
    To give context:
    • Audition CS6
    • All other applications are closed
    • 26 audio tracks
    • Approx. 22 seconds long in total
    • Average of 2 effects per track
    • I've reinstalled the program twice now
    My computer:
    • iMac (2010)
    • 3.4GHz Intel Core i7
    • 16 GB 1333 MHz DDr3
    • Flash and HDD storage (which are not full)
    • OSX 10.8.2
If anyone can offer any advice, that would be great!
I have to get this done by this Monday (May 6, 2013).
So I really hope Audition won't fail me, since it has always been successul until now (which is why I'm stumped).

'Not enough memory' hasn't got anything to do with your HD, but the amount of RAM available to Audition at the time it needs it. All DAWs, to work efficiently and successfully, need most of the machine to be free from running other apps. The reason for this is simple; If another app trys to hog a machine that's running a process in real time, it inevitably hiccups the machine. And if this other app has reserved RAM addresses for its own use, they aren't available until it's stopped.
Typical nasties involve anti-virus software, and the machine doing things like repeatedly polling a wireless connection, but there are plenty more, and this applies equally to Macs and PCs.
So the 'update' you need to rectify most of these problems is one you have to carry out yourself. Audio editing is a bit of an oddball from this POV - you invariably need a very lightly loaded machine for it to be reliably successful. The machine I use as a DAW doesn't do anything else at all; all unnecessary services are stopped whilst it's in this mode, and the physical spec of it is similar to yours - except it's a PC running W7-64Pro.

  • Multiplexer error.  Not enough memory to perform operation?  iDVD crashes!!

Everytime I try to burn a DVD it gives me the same error and the program automatically shuts down. I have tried going into preferences and switching
the preferences everytime this window pops up.
"Your project exceeds the maximum allowed content duration. You will not be able to burn your DVD while your Encoder Setting is Best Performance. This can be changed in your iDVD Preferences."
The preferences are now set for best quality performance. iDVD shuts down saying that there is not enough free space to perform operation....Can someone help???

    Hello!
    Welcome to discussions!
First, we need much more information regarding your mac, RAM, Disk Space, etc.
See how I have my specs written at the bottom? Go to your right and click on 'My Settings' and fill it out. That will help us here!
    thanks!

    Hi,
the out of memory error is not an error wich comes out of a VI itself, the error occurs at an particular VI but most likely isn't caused alone by this VI.
Plus the error isn't trackable without the whole setup, so having the camera and the robot itself in your case.
However I can give you a couple of pointers, where you can start taking a look at it and work at it:
The error is most likely caused by your multiple bitmaps, wich stress out the memory
Use the LabVIEW 64bit edition, because it is designed for vision applications, you need the extra amount of memory wich can be addressed by a 64bit application
Take a look at the VI in wich the error occurs, look at the memory usage and try to go through it step by step, the purpose of this is, to see where the memory usage gets out of hand
    Best Regards,
    Frank

  • J2A080 v2.4.1 R3 - Not enough memory.

I am using Jcop 2.4.1 card. I am able to install the java card applet on the card but when I try to install it inside the simulator (JCOP on NXP SmartMX - J2A080 v2.4.1 R3), I get the error „Not enough memory“. The error is raised in the java card applet constructor while trying to allocate the transient variable. When I run the applet in older simulator everything is ok. Also I was able to install the applet on the card. At the beginning of the applet constructor, variables have got next values:
    the free transient heap 1721
    the used transient heap 1303
First what surprises me the used heap at the beginning of the java card initialization. What is occupying that space. What I need do in order to test the applet with this simulator? The detailed information about the JCOPTools:

    Hi,
You may be able to find an open source biometric library. It would probably not be the javacardx.biometry package though. I have not looked for one but you could search the forum for similar posts. I believe this has been discussed before.

  • Error Message - Couldn't complete your request because there is not enough memory

I'm using Adobe CS5 Extended on a PC running under Windows Vista Home Premium with 4GB RAM.  When I complete editing a RAW file in ACR and choose to Open Image into Photoshop, I often receive an error message "Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM)".  However, Task Manager shows that about 2.5 GB of RAM is in use, the rest is free.  Any ideas?

First, an apology - to John as his original post appears to have got somewhat hijacked.
    Noel Carboni wrote:
Did you even TRY the advice given?  You have to make the change in the Preferences - Performance panel, then close and restart Photoshop to test it.
YES I did actually - made absolutely no difference whatsoever.
    Noel Carboni wrote:
You ARE aware you're talking to just other users here, right?  We're just regular folks who have LONG SINCE figured out that we need bigger machines to work on large Photoshop images.
I don't actually class 22MB as a large Photoshop image - you might, I don't.  If it had multiple layers, or I was doing massive amounts of processing, fair enough, but just opening the file from ACR?
As for upgrading the machine to open the files, this is Adobe's official requirement for CS5.1:
    Windows®
    2GHz or faster processor*
    Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3, Windows® Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 2, Windows® Vista® 64-bit or Windows® 7
1GB of RAM or more recommended
1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (Photoshop CS5.1 cannot be installed on flash-based storage devices.)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® graphics card, 16-bit color and 256MB VRAM
The machine way excedes the requirements, so, I stand by what I said before.
Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

  • Downloading itunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory".  How do I fix the memory issue?

When dowloadning tunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory.  I've deleted tunes from my library & ipod and I still get the error. How do I get around this?

It could be the newer version of iTunes requires more physical memory than your computer currently has available.
Do a right click on "My computer" and check out your computers memory/RAM specifications.
Windows XP is a bit bloated in the latest updates, trying to get people to upgrade to Windows 7, might be little room for other programs, especially one as huge as iTunes.
If you finally do choose a new machine, I have some tips:
For 3D gaming laptops, I wouldn't pick any graphics card scoring less than 1000 on this sites scale. Not scoring less than 2000 for towers.
    http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I would also choose a quad core processor scoring 5000 or better on this scale,  64 bit,  Windows 7 Pro (so you can virtualize your XP programs) or OS X, and 4GB of RAM expandable to at least 8GB or future proofing your investment.
    http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
I would also choose 7,200 RPM hard drives for both towers and laptops for performance. On laptops while using the battery, set the energy savings to stop the hard drive spinning when not in use. Only choose the slower 5,400 RPM drive option if your always on battery and need maximum life as you lose about 20% with the faster drive, but gain 20% or more in performance.
Dual cores and 32 bit processors/OS with their 4GB RAM limit is soon to be old news.
For laptops, I highly recommend anti-glare displays for maximum use in any environment.

  • ITunes 6.02 problem ("not enough memory error")

I attempted to update iTunes to the newest version yesterday, and for the most part everything went as planned. The application updated, everything seemed to be working afterwards.
The next time I went to open iTunes I get an error of "The iTunes application could not be opened. There is not enough memory available." Seems odd to me, but I quit out of everything and try again, still no iTunes. I can still open Photoshop, Flash, Logic Pro and other more memory intensive apps, but iTunes will not open.
    Computer setup:
    Dual 1.4Ghz G4 w/ 1GB RAM
    Things I've tried so far:
    Restarted computer
    Repaired permissions
    Reinstalled iTunes
Deleted iTunes prefs that I could find
    Ran around screaming
So if anyone has any other ideas as to what to do, let me know. Is there a way to get a hold of an old version of iTunes? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dave

As long as I don't wear you out with this Unix command-line stuff, let's plug away at cracking this nut.
I'd be interested in seeing the 'top' headers immediately after a reboot. Check that nothing much is running in the dock. Then try iTunes right then. I know you've said you've done this, I have to ask anyway, sort of like Apple causes you to do stuff in their sequence when you call them.
I've never heard of 'SupportedApps.txt' find it and tell me what's in it. Does it mention iTunes? If you can't find it via Finder or Spotlight,
    Type: find -x / -type f -name SupportedApps.txt -ls
That will search the entire boot drive for it.
361 Mb (+ 12 Mb should be plenty of memory to run iTunes.
Okay, did you add any codecs to your system recently?
Like me, I see you've installed DivX and Flip4Mac.
According to the trace, the last two files iTunes opened before it exited were both /Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
That seems a little odd to open and read in its contents twice in a row. Anyway that file seemed to indicate another codec called Soundflower?
    com.apple.audio.CoreAudio.DeviceSettings.Soundflower_AudioEngine
That's one to dup and delete and retry iTunes.
As is the above GlobalPreferences file.
In fact, you might look at this list and try and figure which other ones to try getting out of the way. I say to dup and delete the original, as opposed to simply renaming the original, because those darn Mac aliases can locate a file even if you've renamed it, unlike Unix symlinks.
Every time you retry iTunes, recheck the most recently modified files in /var/log.
Note that all of the files listed below might not exist, they were attempts to open the named files.

Oh, you downloaded the Sims 2 via P2P using Azureus, just like me. Ya might want to take down yer trace file now
I'm surprised there's not something more in /var/log.
cd to /var/log, type: touch asl.log
    type: chmod 777 asl.log
I'm not sure what asl.log stands for, but it sure gets a heck of a lot of stuff on my system.
That's it for now, you've got to plug away at those plist files. Someone just posted about a plugin (they are also a likely culprit). These are all the OSS references:

  • "Not Enough Memory" Error when programming Keithley 2400 using LabView 6i

I'm trying to use LabView 6i drivers to control a keithley 2400 via GPIB interface. Most of the drivers work fine but the high level operations such as a the sweep functions or even functions that perform a single measurement gives a "Not enough memory" driver error. What doesn't have enough memory? A single measurement can't overload the PC's or Keithley's memory buffer so why am I getting the error?
Thanks for any help you can offer...
    Evan

    Evan,
That's not a LabVIEW, GPIB, or NI-VISA error code - that error is generated by the instrument driver. I went ahead and downloaded this driver from keithley.com to take a look at this Perform DC VI.vi function's source. But unfortunately, the heart of the Perform DC VI function is a "Call Library Node" call to a keithley DLL, so that is a black box. Also, no c-source included that I could find, so I could not look at that either. And since I don't have a Keithley 2400 to play with, that brings me to the end of the rope on my system.
A couple of more things you could try, however, since you actually have the instrument.
    (1) Definately build a simple VI to eliminate other aspects of your program. In this case, the most simple
VI would be an Init, Perform DC VI.vi, and then a close. Make sure this simple program reproduces the error. If it doesn't, then the problem is likely introduced in your code, not the driver.
    (2) If #1 reproduces the problem, then check that you have all the driver pre-requisites correct (ie, that NI-VISA is installed, that the GPIB board is working properly, etc).
    (3) If #1 and #2 do not result in any discoveries, then you will have to enter the black box of that DLL. Primary method to do that, to be honest, is to contact Keithley and ask for help, since they developed the driver. Second method is to use our NI-SPY utility, which can capture all calls to VISA drivers, (since this is a VXIpnp driver, it should be fundamentally using VISA within the DLL). Within NI-SPY, you will be able to see the individual function calls, and which ones are returning errors. That may help point in the right direction.

  • Any fixes for LR5 export error message 'Not enough memory'?

I have plenty of hard disk space, and the files being exported are only 10MB each. I'm exporting from PEF raw files to jpg's.  Closing and restarting LR5 fixes the issue after two or three goes, but it's getting annoying.  Anyone know of this issue?

Don't be tempted to just upgrade your RAM, as Windows 7 32 Bit is unable to utilize more than the 4 GB you already have installed.  If costs are an issue upgrade your OS to Windows 7 (or higher) 64 bit first, then upgrade to 8GB of RAM if/when required.
I have Lightroom 5.4 installed on two Windows 7 64 bit desktops, one with 4GB of RAM installed and the other with 8GB.  I have never experienced a 'not enough memory' error with either, although performance is significantly better on the 8GB system.

  • A FIX for error message: When I try to open Snood (it's a game) I get this message.  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101  Can you help?

After years of playing Snood, w/o problems, I started getting this error message, on my iMac, OS 10.5.8,
with 4 GB of memory when opening Snood:  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101
My MacBook Pro w. Mac OS 10.6.8 did not have this problem.
Initially I thought that Snood raised its minimum requirement to Mac OS 10.6.
I had several correspondences with Snood. Their tech support is great. Quick and thorough responses.
They thought the issue was in Mac's system preferences/ Sound. It was.
I didn't realize that my sound input and output devices were gone.
The fix was resetting the PRAM. I found this advice on MacFixIt.com.
    MacFixIt help with volume:   http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10415659-263.html
Resetting the PRAM is on Apple support:   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
My sound (music!) is back, along with Snood. So glad I reset the PRAM before reinstalling the OS software!
Thank you to Snood, MacFixIt and Apple.
    Happy new year all!

    Good work, nice post/tip, thanks!

  • Photoshop cs6 error "Could not complete command because there is not enough memory (RAM)"

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite 6, and all of my other adobe programs run smoothy with the exception of photoshop. For about the past year and a half now, I will very inconsistency receive the error message, "Could not complete ___ command because there is not enough memory (RAM)."  Sometimes this problem gets so bad that I am not even able to open my preferences.
My computer seems as though it should have plenty of space to run photoshop, and I have taken my computer to a number of differed tech supports, but they have only been able to temporarily make the problem less severe for short periods until it acts up again and completely prevents me from using Photoshop. I recently updated to Yosemite and deinstalled/reinstalled photoshop, hoping that would fix things, but I still get the message almost any time I try to complete a command.
Your help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Hey! Don't knock my system, Trevor.Dennis: Processor speed: 3492 MHz,

3.5Mhz?  Do they even make processors that slow?
I'm trying to think back through Photoshop versions, but IIRC it became hungry for RAM with CS5, but it might even have been CS4.  But certainly from CS5 onwards a 32 bit system was going to be severely compromised with its 3.5Gb RAM limit, of which Photoshop could access only a bit over 2Gb.  You might remember the 4Gb switch that let you use a bit more of your 4Gb of installed RAM.  That worked OK with XP but was still flakey, and third party plugins used to fall over all the time through lack of RAM — at least Photoshop has a Scratch drive.
So nowadays you can forget trying to use Photoshop on 32bit hardware.  You need 64 bit and at least 8Gb RAM.  So like I said, the OP needs to look deeper into the 'apparent' over heating issue, and put that other 4Gb back in.  I can't even conceive of why a person would cripple their system by removing RAM. _Especially_ when it leaves just 4Gb

  • Help Needed REP-1800 Formatter error VGS-1701 Not enough memory

    Hi. Gents
    Help needed
I’m working on a Report, it gets some 2 million records and the report pages are approximately 52,000
It works fine if the pages are lesser then 48,000 or the data is less let say one and half a million, the problem occurs only after 48000 + pages formatted.
Report is generated successfully when trying to go to the last page it throw an error.
    REP-1800 Formatter error
    VGS-1701 Not enough memory
I have already gone through the metalink DOC Id 95505.1 as well as OTN
    But all in vain,
Any comments or help much appreciated.
    Details are:
Reports 6i (Clients/Server) on Windows platform
(Windows XP Professional with SP 2)
Database: Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0
    Computer:
    Pentium(R) 4, CPU 3.00GHz, 1 GB of RAM
    Still 20 GB free space
    Thanks & Regards

I don't see the point in making a report with more than 48,000 pages, I think Al Gore will not be happy when you start printing it...
The problem might be caused by the fact that Reports needs to format all output at once, and then even 1GB of memory will probably be not enough. Formatting all pages at once is needed if you use pagination with displaying total number of pages. If you have this, try to get that out of the report definition and try again.

  • When I try to import, I receive the following message: "An internal error has occurred: not enough memory".  I always download my photos onto an external hard drive.

Yesterday,I downloaded an update for Lightroom 5.  Now when I try to import, I receive the following message: "An internal error has occurred: not enough memory".  The message comes up right after I click import, before I choose a file to upload. Here is the information I can think of that might be needed to answer this question:
    - I always download my photos onto an external hard drive. It is about 10 % full.
    - It says I have Lightroom 5.6  64 bit
    - I am working from a newer laptop (Windows).  The internal drive on the laptop has 289 gb and I am using 61 gb total memory.
    - I have edited 2794 photos in Lightroom and it is all in one catalog.
    - I did not have this problem until I made the update.  I did have my first "bug" earlier this week when one of my photos had a line show up through the middle of it when I exported it. I was able to export it a second time without the line.
If there is more info. needed, let me know.  I do photography as a hobby and know enough about Lightroom to edit out blemishes and adjust color balance, but not too much more, so forgive my ignorance if this is an obvious fix.
    Sincerely,
    Adrianne

Not Enough Memory typically refers to RAM.  How much RAM do you have on your 64-bit OS computer?  Do you have other programs running that may be using most of the memory?

  • Getting " Not enough memory for the operation error " in BOE

    Hi,
    We are using BOE 11.0.
we try to schedule a new report with multiple database logins for testing in BOE. When we run the report we are getting error like "Not enough memory for the operation error"
The same report has been executed successfully when we run using Crystal reports developer. The report is fectching less than 10K records from all the databases together.
Please let me know which is causing the issue and also let me know is there any limit in the number of databases connecting for a single report.
many thanks in advance for all your help.
    Cheers,
    Suri ;-)

    Hi Sarthan,
Sorry. I'm new to BOE. We know only scheduling the reports creating folders etc. :-)
I've seen one parameter "Maximum Cache Size Allowed (KBytes)" and the value for this parameter is 5000.
If we change it to a big number whether we can solve the issue ? Please suggest.
    Cheers,
    Suri ;-)
