Not launching in new browser window?
I have setup a Flash viewer in a HTML Div container. In the Flash I have put a button which, when clicked, launches a new browser window with another site I've done to appear in.
When I test this in Flash its working fine and launches the new window as it should.
But when I go into Dreamweaver where I have placed the Swf. in the Div container, I test it locally in a Firefox browser window. The viewer appears and it works correctly, but when I click the button to launch the new browser window it just opens a window with an error msg 'unable to connect, etc'.
Any idea why this wont work? Is it because it needs to be live (online)?
Hi,
What is the link that you are trying to open.
Please check if you have placed the protocol - like this http://www.xmy.com" format
and used "_blank" as target in navigateToURL API.

Pdf links will not open in new browser window
I have created a pdf document in Acrobat 9 Pro that is password protected. You must enter the password to open it. In this document there are perhaps 15 links to other pdf documents. I set up each of the links to open in a new window. The links work as expected in Acrobat, each opening in a new window, however, when I posted the documents to the web, the links open in the same window as the original document. This would not be a big issue if the original document were not password protected, but each time the user clicks on a link, it takes him out of the original document. To get back to the original document requires re-entering the password. This is a major irritation with so many links.
I know that you can set Acrobat to display the documents in its own window rather than in the browser, but my users don't know that. Control clicking on a pdf link does not open it in a new window as it would with an HTML link. Is there a simple fix to this problem that does not involve user intervention?Well, I came up with a solution, thanks to Ted Padova who offers a simple JavaScript solution on his blog at http://www.acrobatusers.com/blogs/tedpadova/opening-pdfs-new-browser-windows.
The solution is clearly laid out even for beginners, if you know how to create a link or button.
It seems to me that a prime objective of Adobe in developing Acrobat would be to have it behave the same way in free-standing mode and as a plug-in. In this case it does not, and obviously, it has not for the last forty-eleven years that Acrobat has been on the market. Maybe some day they will get around to a fix for this obvious problem. In the meantime, read Ted's blog and be happy we have guys like him who can solve these problems. -
Dialog control flow case not opening in new browser window
Hello -
Using JDev 11gR1.
I have a page fragment that contains a table of command links like so:
<af:commandLink text="#{row.id}" id="cl2"
action="#{reportRunnerBean.runReportAction}"
useWindow="true" windowHeight="500" windowWidth="500">
<f:param value="#{row.id}" name="reportId" id="p2"/>
</af:commandLink>the runReportAction method returns the String: "dialog:runReport"
in my page flow, the page fragment has a control flow case with the outcome "dialog:runReport" that leads to a URL View with the URL setting set to #{pageFlowScope.reportUrl}
(the reportRunAction places a string in page flow scope with the key of "reportUrl". in case it matters, the url is external to the application)
When I click on the link, I am directed to the correct URL. However, it does not open in a new browser window - it takes up the main browser window.
Is there something obvious that I am doing wrong?
Thank you for reading this,
-- ScottWell, I couldn't figure out why the dialog wasn't working correctly, so I changed my page to use a server listener to handle the logic I wanted and just used af:goLink instead of a command link. That command link above became:
<af:goLink text="#{row.id}" id="gl1"
destination="#{row.reportUrl}"
targetFrame="_blank">
<af:clientAttribute name="reportId" value="#{row.id}"/>
<af:clientListener method="logReport" type="click"/>
<af:serverListener type="LogReportEvent"
method="#{reportListBean.logReportInvocation}"/>
</af:goLink>with the following client listener:
<af:resource type="javascript">
function logReport(evt) {
var component = evt.getSource();
var reportIdParam = component.getProperty("reportId");
AdfCustomEvent.queue(component,
"LogReportEvent",
{ reportId: reportIdParam}, false);
</af:resource>and code in the bean:
public void logReportInvocation(ClientEvent clientEvent) {
String reportId =
(String)clientEvent.getParameters().get("reportId");
//...do something w/reportId here...
}Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this. -

ValiRespectfully, that answer isn't particularly helpful. I have already demonstrated that middle-clicking (mouse wheel click) will open a new instance of FF, and other programs. This was true before the upgrade from FF4 to FF6, and is true on all my VM builds (Windows 7 default install with nothing but FF installed).
Nevertheless, I've tried shift-left-click, and it does not open a new instance. It will only open a new instance if I pin FF to the taskbar, which I have already stated I do not want to do. This new behaviour is unique to FF. Other applications (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, whatever) all behave as expected. It is only Firefox that is misbehaving, and it is only misbehaving since the upgrade.
My issue is that FF has changed its behaviour with respect to middle-clicking since upgrading from 4 to 6. I'd welcome helpful comments about getting FF to behave.

"Go to URL" not opening in a new browser window
We are using FrameMaker 10 and RoboHelp 9 in a Windows 7 environment.
When we create hypertext links, we use the "Go to URL" command. According to the FrameMaker 10 online help, this is what the command is supposed to do: "Launches browser and displays the specified Web page."
Then we publish the content to RoboHelp's WebHelp.
When we see the hypertext link in the WebHelp/HTML output, it looks like this: http://www.adobe.com
When we click it, the Web page appears inside the content frame of the WebHelp. It does not open a new browser window.
We can manually go into the html file and look at the hypertext link. It looks like this in the WebHelp output:
<span class="FM_Link"><a href="http://www.adobe.com">www.adobe.com</span>
In order to manually change the link so that it opens the Web page in a new browser window, we can edit the link as follows:
<span class="FM_Link"><a href="http://www.adobe.com" target="_blank">www.adobe.com</span>
After we manually edit the HTML file, save it, launch the WebHelp, and click the hypertext link...it now opens the Web page in a new browser window.
Is there a way to create the hypertext link in FrameMaker so that the WebHelp output will open the Web page in a new browser window?
Thank you in advance!
TimPlease see the previous posts in this thread to review how you create hyperlinks in FrameMaker that open the Web page in a new browser window.
The problem is this: If you publish the exact same file to PDF, the hyperlinks will not work.
The properties (syntax) of the hyperlinks in PDF output need to look like this: http://www.adobe.com
The hyperlink syntax in WebHelp (in FrameMaker) needs to look like this: http://www.adobe.com" target="_blank
(...so when they are published to Webhelp, they look like this: "http://www.adobe.com" target="_blank")
Other than going into either the HTML or the PDF output and manually changing each hyperlink URL syntax for the specific output, is there a syntax that opens a new browser window in both PDF and HTML with one single "Go to URL" command?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Default size of new browser window launched from community links portlet
Does anyone know of a way to control the size of the new browser window that is launched when the user clicks a link in a Community Links portlet (or any other links that launch a new browser window)?
We default all users to open links in a new browser window and I can't seem to find any rhyme or reason to how it sizes the resulting window. Some community links come out really skinny and un-user friendly, while others are nicely sized to near full screen.
Is there some way to control this?
Thank you.
DarlaDarla,
Which version of the portal are you guys running? We are currently using 6.5 and all the links/Documents/ExternalLinks/Pages open up in a new browser window with the same sizes.
Its basically controlled by javascript.

Disable menubar and location from popup dialog in new browser window
How to hide the toolbar, menubar, location and status for the popup window (not inline, but new browser window style) using ADF 11g?
Just like HTML javascript:
window.open ('page.jsp', 'newwindow', 'height=100, width=400, top=0, left=0, toolbar=no, menubar=no, scrollbars=no, resizable=no,location=no, status=no')In ADF 11g, I have a jspx refered by a taskflow action with "dialog:" prefix, and I call it from a button like this:
<af:commandToolbarButton text="Add"
id="ctbAdd"
action="dialog:create"
useWindow="true"
windowEmbedStyle="window"
windowModalityType="applicationModal"
windowHeight="400"
windowWidth="600"
/>How to control the toolbar, menubar, location and status for the popup window?
Thanks in advanced,
Samson FuI tried it but not success. My code as below:
public void handleAddLaunch(LaunchEvent launchEvent) {
launchEvent.getWindowProperties().put("toolbar", "no");
launchEvent.getWindowProperties().put("menubar", "no");
launchEvent.getWindowProperties().put("scrollbars", "no");
launchEvent.getWindowProperties().put("resizable", "no");
launchEvent.getWindowProperties().put("location", "no");
launchEvent.getWindowProperties().put("status", "no");The popup windows contains all the toolbar, menubar, location...
Is there any example or reference for the keys and values for getWindowProperties()?

Opening a new browser window in APEX
Hi.
I am trying to open a new browser window in APEX (v2.1) for a new Navigation Bar Entry.
What I did is the following:
1) Created the new Navigation Bar Entry
2) On the properties of this entry I put the Target Type: "URL"
and on the Target: javascript:window.open('f?p=&APP_ID.:63:&APP_SESSION.:::::' , 'Despre','scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=400,height=600');
when I click on my Navigation Bar Entry, the page 63 opens on the same window,NOT on a NEW browser window.
Can you please help ?It seems that I found the answer.
I had to do the following:
javascript:(window.open('f?p=&APP_ID.:63:&APP_SESSION.:::::', 'Despre','Scrollbars=1,resizable=1,width=400,height=600')).focus();
and then logout and login back in the application and it worked. -

Hi all,
I want to open a view in a new browser window.
I try this two code:

but in this case i can only open an url...
2)IWDWindowInfo windowInfo = wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("ExternalWindow");
IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createWindow(windowInfo,true);
but in this case it open an internal windows, not an external new browser windows...

IWDDeployableObject deployableObject = WDDeployableObject.getDeployableObject(dcName);
if(null!=deployableObject && WDDeployableObjectState.STARTED.equals(deployableObject.getState()))
boolean found = false;
int i = 0;
WDDeployableObjectPart[] parts = deployableObject.getParts(WDDeployableObjectPartType.APPLICATION);
if(parts!=null)
for(;i<parts.length;i++)
if( applicationName.equals(parts<i>.getShortName()))
found = true;
break;
if(found)
return WDURLGenerator.getApplicationURL(parts<i>, null);
else
throw new EntryNotFoundException( "Application '" + applicationName + "' not found" );
} else {
throw new EntryNotFoundException( "Application '" + applicationName + "' not found in '" + dcName + "'" );

Load balancing 10g forms - Connection from new browser window not supported
Load balancing 10g forms - Connection from new browser window not supported
We're experimenting with using webcache to load balance between multiple applications servers running OC4J forms processes.
We currently have one machine with infrastructure and mid-tier (BI & Forms) installed, which is being used for the webcache functionality, this is load balancing between 2 other servers each of which just have the mid-tier (BI & Forms) installation
In order to get this to work, I had to follow the instructions in the Forms deployment guide : http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/web.1012/b14032/tuning.htm#sthref707
The main gist of this is that you need to set the following in the orion-web.xml file in order that the sessions are maintained:
<session-tracking
cookies="enabled">
</session-tracking>
This all works fine in most cases.
The problem I am having is if I do one of the following on the client machine:
1) From IE6 / IE7 run a copy of a forms application. Then open a new window using the "New Window" menu option, and attempt to run another forms application.
2) In IE7 or Firefox 2.0 open a copy of the forms application, and then open a new tab and try and open another forms application.
If I try either of these I get a FRM-92101 error, and the following is displayed in the java console:
oracle.forms.net.ConnectionException: Connection from new browser window not supported
From trawling various forums (including metalink and otn) it looks like a problem with the way coockies are handled.
Unfortunately the usual workaround is to ensure that the session tracking option in the orion-web.xml file is disabled.
The problem is that I need this enabled in order for the load balancing to work.
Does anyone know of any other workarounds or patches that might help resolve this?
We're using Application server 10.1.2.0.2 running on windows 2003 servers.You were right. Carriage returns were stopping it from working (the document is laid out over separate lines, so I assumed it would make no difference...).
I've now managed to get it so the forms at least run, but they are all being run in the forms OC4J instance on the same machine as the OHS.
Has anyone actually managed to get this to work, or am I doing something wrong?
I did wonder if using an OHS instance on a machine with no forms installation would make any difference?
I had raised a support call via metalink on this subject, but they eventually came to the conclusion that the only way to do this is with a hardware load balancer (Despite several documents suggesting that webcache is the way to go (including the forms deployment manual)).
I'm at the point now of giving up and writing some custom scripts to do the job instead... -
New Browser Window not working on My Mac Intel pro
I have set a behavior in Dreamweaver CS3 to open a new
browser window to a set size and to only show scroll bars if
needed. I have left all other attributes unchecked. This is not
working for me. Can you tell me how to make a new browser window to
my settings using the behaviors in Dreamweaver CS3? I do all the
steps right. what do I do when I follow all the steps for setting
up a new browser window correctly and it doesn't work!? The new
browser window never pops up even when i use an image map. The
Behavior is not working correctly and I even re-installed
Dreamweaver CS3. I am on an intel based mac pro. Running Firefox
version 3 and Safari 3.1.2 on Leopard. I have done this several
times before and it has worked. but that was before Leopard. Here
is my code:
<area shape="rect" coords="4,3,78,77" href="#"
onClick="MM_openBrWindow('images/02.jpg','','width=378,height=504')">
The only way I can get it to halfway work is add it into the
link area
on the properties panel. The window will then open but not to
the
specified size.?
please advise as this is taking a long time to figure out!?Schafer Design wrote:

This is an unusual way to go about doing this. Typically you
simply put
the thumbnails up on the page rather than combining them into
a collage
and then adding imagemaps to that.
Nevertheless, it can be done.
You have code like this:
<area shape="rect" coords="0,0,80,80" href="images/12.jpg"
target="_blank"
onClick="MM_openBrWindow('images/12.jpg','','width=378,height=504')">
Try adding
;return false
to each like this:
<area shape="rect" coords="0,0,80,80" href="images/12.jpg"
target="_blank"
onClick="MM_openBrWindow('images/12.jpg','','width=378,height=504');return
false">

Do NOT want to open link in a new browser window - iWeb '09
I do not want links that navigate around my website to open a new browser window every time. Right now, for example, From my main page, I click a link to a secondary page, it opens it in a new window, I then click the link back to my main page, and it opens in a new window. I now have 3 windows open.
I am not using the navigation bar as it set ups with iWeb (I have it hidden). I am using hyperlinks I attached to text boxes. Would this problem be remedied if I was using the navigation bar? If so, is there anyway to edit the appearance of the navigation bar and it's location on the page?
Primarily though, I would like my text hyperlinks to just navigate my page and not open in new windows.
Thanks!And that's the way it should be.
If you look at this page about navigation you'll see that the main navigation uses eternal links and the sub navigation internal ones....
