Null cipher key?

We had a snoop program ran against our WLS servers and found that some of our hosts allow a null cipher key, which means SSL communication could occur over clear text.
We do not run our servers on SSL, how do I configure WLS to not allow a null cipher key?

I was wrong. We are running SSL on those Admin and Managed servers.
So do I add -Dweblogic.security.disableNullCipher=true to the following SSL section of the config.xml?

    I am using Keytool provided by J2SE. Is there any way to create a "identity" key pair. Basically you put in Unciphered text run the routine and you get back out Unciphered text. This is just for testing purposes.

    The JCE includes one subclass of the Cipher class: the NullCipher class (javax.crypto.NullCipher). This class performs no encryption. Data passes through the null cipher unchanged, and no padding or blocking is performed (the getBlockSize() method will return 1).     I am unable to understand why AMF Channel or Blaze DS is treating the String as HashMap !!!

    I chcked my server side java beans ( which are managed by Spring) and they are all returning the data property and none of the Keys in the returned hashmaps are null.

  • NULL partition key in RANGE partition

    All,
    This is regarding partitioning a table using RANGE partition method. But the partition key contains null. How do I handle this situation? This is because there is no DEFAULT partition in RANGE partition though its present in LIST partition. Will rows with NULL partition key fall in MAXVALUE partition? Seeking your guidence.

    NULLS would fit into the MAXVAL partition yes.

    What happend when two concourrent user try to get the same key on the table? If for example I have 30 users at same time do I have lock table?

  • Storing cipher key within class

    Is there any way that I can store a cipher key statically within a class, ie, not read in (from file or other source) when the an object of the class is created?
    I assume that this will lower the security being offered by any such class, but the level of security required for my application is not really all that high, and by implementing it this way I can save myself quite a bit of work.

  • Load fact table with null dimension keys

    We have OWB 10g R2 and ROLAP star schema. In our source system some rows don’t have all attributes populated with values (null value), and this empty attributes are dimension (business) keys in star schema. Is it possible to load fact table with such rows (some dimension keys are null) in the OWB mappings? We use cube operator in mappings.

    The dimension should have a row indicating UNKNOWN, this will have a business key outside of the normal range e.g. -999999.
    In the mapping the missing business keys can then be NVL'd to -999999.

    These statements show an unexpected behavior when a column is added to a table as 'BOOLEAN DEFAULT FALSE NOT NULL' and added afterward to the table's primary key column set:

    I think the error message '[350] Referential integrity violated' should not happen because the column 'b' really contains 'false'. But there obviously seem to be a difference before and after setting the column 'b' explicitly to 'false'. I can imagine that this depends on the way how the index for the primary key is updated. Probably the index is not properly updated in this context(?)

    you're right, this is a bug and indeed seems to caused by the way the DEFAULT boolean is stored in the page.
    (There is no separate index for the primary key in MaxDB as all data is stored in B*trees - basically the table is the primary key).
    This is how the record looks like when column b is 'false' only due to the change of the DEFAULT value:

    Little difference but this leads to the problems during the foreign key validation.
    I'll inform the developers next week about this.
    As a workaround you'll have to explicitly update the columns for which you change the default setting.

  • How to save a record with null foreign key?

    Dear all,
    Most articles show non-nullable foreign keys; but now I've got a problem with nullable foreign keys.
    With this simple example: an employee has zero or one manager.
    in manager object:
    @OneToMany(cascade={CascadeType.MERGE, CascadeType.PERSIST, CascadeType.REFRESH}, mappedBy="manager")
    private Collection<Employee> employees;
    in employee object:
    @ManyToOne
    @JoinColumn(name="manager_id")
    private Manager manager;
    when updating an employee record, i may use a selectOneMenu to pass a manager id of "0", I expect toplink to save a null manager_id in the employee record; but i tries to create a new manager object of id="0" (i.e. insert a new manager record instead)
    the code i use to save an employee is like this:
    em.getTransaction().begin();
    em.merge(employee);
    em.getTransaction().commit();
    What's the correct way to save the employee record with a null manager_id column?

If you use entityManager.(Employee.class, 0) then you should get back null if there is no Employee with id=0.

  • TLS cipher suites: Is there any Windows application that is using one of the two NULL cipher suites?

    My question is about these two standard cipher suites from Windows 7/8 (and Windows Servers):
    TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA256
    TLS_RSA_WITH_NULL_SHA
    Question: Is there any native Windows 7 application/process that must use one of these two ciphers?
    If not, I would simply kick them out to make sure that they are never used.
    Bonus question: Is there any reason to keep these on any Windows Server?

    Thank you for your response. I kicked out the NULL ciphers and everything weaker than 3DES. Consequently I also deactivated SSLv3 on five windows clients (computers and not servers, no server admin here). Rearranged the order of preference according to
    my needs. So far I don't experience any issues. Did the same with JRE many years ago (just kicked it out), now I lean back and enjoy the show.

    I have a view object derived from an entity object, which the user is allowed edit. it's a standard adf edit. even though the key fields are filled in i keep getting this error.
    i cannot understand why. i have tried creating the view object again and creating a new edit page but i still get the same error.
    if anyone can shed any light i'd be eternally grateful!!

    Thanks for the response. No the problem doesn't show in the tester as well. Another strange thing.. on another jsp i have this view with editing and it never gets this error which would suggest the problem is somewhere on the jsp but i created a new jsp from scratch and i still got this problem????
    this view object is comprised of 2 entity objects, one for a reference and one updateable..
    i dont know what else to do and time is of the essence for me. yikes!!

    DES keys are 8 bytes with the Least Significant Bit (LSB) of each byte being used as a parity bit but taking no part in the encryption process. DES keys are binary data and are normally provided as bytes and not as a String object. If 'keyPassword' does not reference a String containing exactly 8 ISO-8859-1 characters then you will get the Invalid Key Exception since the key has to be exactly 8 bytes.
    I have to ask why you don't have exactly 8 characters in your password? The fact that your code talks of passwords and not key-bytes hints that you should maybe be using Password Based Encryption (PBE).

    I would have expected all constraint violations to be logged to exceptions. I was not able to find any documentation describing the behavior I describe above.

    I'm getting 'null' as a key (for what looks like the HTTP status) in the map returned by calling URLConnection.getHeaderFields. Here's my output from calling toString():
