Number columns in Pages 5.5

I am trying to print a table in Pages 5.5 and need to keep the number column that shows up on the left hand side of the page. Does anyone know how to do this?

That is just for your information and working out forumals.
Create a column with the numbers in it. Pages will do series for you.
Type 1 in the first cell, two in the second to show th pattern then select both and pull down on the centre handle to extend the sequence.
It also works for Letters, Dates, Days, Months, Years etc.

How do I number columns in Pages '08?

Hey all,
I was hoping you guys can help me with a very simple question I have. I was wondering how would I go about numbering an entire column in Pages? For instance, let's say I have a document which contains 2 columns and 10 rows. In this document i would like to have the left column to be numbered. So basically, the rows in the left column are numbered sequentially 1 through 10.
The way I would do this in MS Word was to highlight an entire column, then goto the formatting palette, choose "bullets & numbering" and click on the "numbering" button... Word would then automatically number every row in the selected column 1 to whatever.
Is there a way to do this in Pages '08? I've tried highlighting a column with the inspector, going over to "list" and choosing "numbers" and I'm having zero luck. What it does do, is put a number "1" in the first row of the left column which promptly disappears when I click out of the row. Help?

It sounds like you are using a table. If so, doing the numbers should be easy. Although this picture is from Numbers, filling a series of numbers works the same in a Pages table. Type 1 in the first cell & 2 in the cell below it. Now select both cells, click the tiny circle at the lower right of the second cell & drag down to fill with consecutive numbers. This also works with other number patterns, dates, alphabet, etc.

Create equal columns in Pages

Hello all,
Well once again I find myself turning to the greatest forum on the internet. HELP.....
I am trying to create columns in Pages, but when I do, they are not equal (refer to image). Whatever I do just does not work, how do I get them to be the same?

I found out that when the uneven column on the right was created, all I had to do was create a dummy bullet line above and then delete it. This allowed the formating of a new line to remain in place and therefore create even columns. It seems a bit silly that an additional step like this is required, maybe I did something wrong setting it up, if anyone has a solution to my original problem, please let me know.

Page 50 of the Number'09 User Guide explains how to define columns. Download the Guide from the Help Menu in Pages. Inspector > Layout Tab > Layout Button shows details of the columns.
To see the column margins, View > Show Layout:
The blue upside-down triangles on the ruler show left and right margins for Column 1 (the active column where the cursor is). If you thought they were the left margins of both columns, I can see why the columns appeared unequal.
When setting columns, the default is that they are equal. Hope this helps.

How to add an order number to each page of an adobe doc?

I have a customer that is requiring us to add their order number to every page of multipage documents we send them. Right now we're using typewriter and pasting the order number to each page individually. Is there an easy way to automate this process? So that for each order number, we just type in the order number once and each page subsequently has the order number stamped on it.

Have you changed the template?
Some pages may not have numbers in place as default. If you have changed the page or the template page, you may have added a object which as pushed the number out of view, or an image may be in a layer on top of the text.
If you select one object on the page...then go to Edit, select all, you should see the outlines of any content no matter that content may not be seen. Look at the bottom for a page width rectangle outline.. IF its there, you need to shuffle the content until you find that box, and use Arrange > bring to front.

Different page number eve/odd pages pages 5.2

i am writing a thesis for my university and by formatting rules i need the pages number on even pages to be on the to(header) left and odd pages on the top(header) right. now this was super easy to do in pages 09 and before. i haven't needed that feature ever since but now i do and in pages 5.2 it seems to be impossible. as this is also a feature essential to publishing, due to the binding of the pages which makes it necessary to print them either "inside" or "outside" i cannot believe that apple has removed this feature as it would make writing documents intended for publishing in pages pointless. please help. thank you

thanks for your reply but it's the most recent version there is, or at least i assume so because there are no updates available. i wish now i would still own my old notebook because on this machine MBP late 2013 i never had and still don't have a copy of the old iWork's 08/09.
i take it from your answer that my efforts in finding a solution are futile because the formatting option i'm asking for has been removed from the code?
the only way pages lets me have different formats for even and odd pages is by either manually inserting a section break every time i reach the end of a page(as opposed to just writing in the flow) or manually numbering the pages after i have completed my work, both don't really turn me on so much as the document will end up in at least 200pages(required by my university) probably more given my research.
last option appears to be to install MS-word, which i really really really want to avoid because i am a convinced apple user for over a decade now......or maybe would you know where i can procure a copy of the old iWorks, the internet seems to only offer me questionably legal downloads.

In XML Output the values of Number column tags are not displayed properly

Hi,
Our Client have been using AR Invoice Print Program for a long time and it is heavily customized. Also they are using an old version of the RDF. So we have taken the latest version of the RDF (RAXINV.rdf) for Oracle Apps 11.5.10.2 by raising a SR and implement Client's old RAXINV.rdf into it.
All was ok, but when we are running the program, the XML Output did not generate properly. For the Q_INVOICE query (G_ORDER_BY, G_INVOICE and G_INV_TERM group), the value of some of the scaler number columns are not appeared properly. The tags are coming correctly, but the value is appearing as '*', instead of the correct value. We have checked in the RDF Level (By putting srw.message and check in the log file) that those columns are having proper value. So there is no issue with the RDF.
But because of the above mentioned problem, the some of the PDF output field values also is not generated correctly.
I think that because of the lexical parameters which was implementing the Q_INVOICE query (&COMMON_QUERY) this issue is coming. Because the issue is only in the Q_INVOICE query group (G_ORDER_BY, G_INVOICE and in G_INV_TERM group) not in any other query group.
There is no problem with the scaler character columns. The issue is only with the number columns.
Also we have checked that if we hardcode the value of the number columns in the above mentioned lexical parameter, this problem doesn't appear.
If we put TO_CHAR function to those number columns in the lexical parameter (COMMON_QUERY), then this issue get solved. But we can't do it because of performance issue and also Client won't approve it.

I don't know how to read the code you pasted or I would have checked this myself.
Do your fields in the internal table reference dictionary objects or elementary types? If not using dictionary types, the column names will be blank by default. If you can't change your fields to be dictionary types, you can try this to change the column names:

I am not sure if I was clear before. I actully want to add a new column which will give sequential number to rows - 1, 2, 3, 4.... If the user changes drill down, it should automaticlly repopulate as 1, 2, 3, 4. I do not have any infoobject called 'Serial Number' in my cube.

Text to flow 1st column 1st page TO 1st column 2nd page - IS IT POSSIBLE?

Pages 2.0.1v2 en Mac OS X 10.4.7.
I would like to have a 2-column document, where the text flows independently within each column across the pages of the document. That is, when the text of the left column, first page, reaches the end of the first column, first page, I would like the text to flow to the beginning of the left column, page 2. Instead, Pages flows the text to the right column, page 1.
Is that possible.

I'm not a hundred percent sure that I understand you, but I'll take a stab at it. I think what you're asking for is text overflow from column 1 on page 1 to column 1 on page 2. And then the overflow from column 2 on page 1 to column 2 on page 2. Is that correct? If so, insert two independent text boxes on page 1 (make sure you use the Wrap Inspector to define them as Fixed on Page), and from them create linking text boxes on page two. I tested it and it seems to overflow nicely.
That's the good news. The bad news is that you'll have to do this manually for 400 pages, since there doesn't seem to be an automatic way to accomplish this. I even tried copying and pasting a linked box, and the resulting pasted box would unlink each time. So unless there's something I'm missing, it would seem that the process (tedious in your case) is to place two text boxes on page 1, then manually click on the blue "ears" to create the linked boxes for the next page. But I can't imagine you'd want to do this 400 times.

Maximum number of allowed pages in Pivot Table exceeded

I am working on Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.2.1 . We have a requirement to show one report in the Pivot layout.
But it throws one error: "Maximum number of allowed pages in Pivot Table exceeded (Configured Limit: 1000) "
So I have modified the Instanceconfig.xml with the following piece of code:

When trying to create Calculated Item on Pivot table Page section Item like Division dim the calculated item is 'All' -> sum * and Customer again the calculated item is 'All -> sum * . it performs the first calculation (for division) but in the next one it gives the error
"Maximum number of allowed pages in Pivot Table exceeded (Configured Limit: 1000)."

Try limiting the resultset or upgrade the [MaxVisiblePages]

Dynamically set number-columns-spanned

Hi all,
I have a cross tab which has a dynamic number of columns. Each column has a header "Location" (which is determined by the data), but the table also has a master header "Volume" which should span all of the locations. How can I acheive this?
I currently have:
<xsl:attribute xdofo:ctx="block" name="number-columns-spanned">2</xsl:attribute> Volumne
But this is obviously static.

Attached is a quick example of one way to do what you are asking. This is only a general example, and there may be a bettter implementation depending on the architecture of your application. The link here also has information on setting the number of sockets for a specific sequence file. Hope this helps.

How to edit the "Oracle Three Column Layout" page template?

Hello all,
My question is very simple: how can one edit the Oracle Three Column Layout page template? I tried searching the file system for a file called "threeColumnTemplate.jspx" but I cannot seem to find it. Is it hidden into a jar file of some kind? Or at least can anyone tell me the name of the nice component located in the upper right corner that displays the loading activity?

Extract oracle-page-templates.jar with winzip & browse to location oracle/templates
open the file threeColumnTemplate.jspx using jdeveloper.
after you open it , you can edit the logo , save the changes & create this jar again or save it to the zip which will automatically update the jar.
