Number formate should be (5,3) how?
Hi
I want the number formate as (5,3).. for suppose 234578.98746 is there i want it as 23457.987
using trunc fucntion i can trunc the fraction part. but what about integer part? how to trunc one at a time
select trunc(234578.9874,3) from dual
234578.987
How does it make sense to format a number by dividing it by 10? It's one thing to truncate the decimal portion (though most people would round)-- that's a sensible formatting option. But truncating the integer portion essentially divides this number by 10-- that's not a sensible thing to do display a number; it completely changes the meaning.

Invalid number format for portnumber
I am trying to install Oracle 10G Lite
During this process it requires a password.
Leaving the 1st line unchanged (system) I fill in the 2nd line "Manager" (Which is supposed to be the password)
After this, I get the message
i/o uitzondering: invalid number format for portnumber
Who knows how I can correct this
Thanks in advance
HeinFor repository information, if you have already Oracle 10g server installed and running database. Then you should supply system/password/1521/<sid> information to generate repository. Otherwise no reason to select repository from wizard
Check this installation document for verify that your system are passing pre-requisite to install Lite.

When editing an existing Voice Recognized word document I'm not able to format the numbering so that the text on the second and following lines indents to the same tab that the first line does.
I'm assuming that is because of the way the document was originally formatted.
Is there a way to correct this?I'm afraid this is the wrong place to ask your question. The MSDN forums target programming questions using the Microsoft programming languages (such as VBA for Word).
Your question is in the category "end-user" and would be better asked at:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/word
When you ask, be sure to mention the version of Word involved. You may also need to be more specific about what a "Voice Recognized" Word document is - that's not a term I'm familiar with; others may not know what it means, exactly, either.
FWIW a setting in the number format is probably required, but how to do that will depend on the version of Word inolved and what kind of numbering was used.

How do I change the number formatting within a Cell Table in Microsoft Word?
Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me out on an issue I've been having... I work for an accounting firm and we do a lot of financial statements.
I was wondering if we would be able to treat a cell table in Microsoft Word 2007 like I would a cell table in Microsoft Excel. Meaning, I would like to change the formatting of the numbers in the table to the "Accounting" (number) format so it
aligns by the decimal point and use the $ signs and () for negative numbers. We do use the link tables feature, however, most of our balancing pages just can't be done in Excel because of the way the text is written. It would be much harder to format
the text if it were to be typed in Excel. We have also tried creating an Excel sheet within Microsoft Word but it is the same as linking the tables... Again, a text formatting issue. The only option is to use tables within Word but how do we change
the number formatting to a "accounting" (number) format where the numbers would align with the decimal point and use () for the negative numbers. Is there ANY option for us to do this other than manually entering this information in using tabs?
If there are no options other than entering it in manually, please consider this as an option for your next software update. I believe that a LOT of people out there will be interested in this feature... My manager and I just attended a webinar on Microsoft
Advanced Word Tips Tricks and Techniques and 75% of the attending people had this question but no answer.
Thank you very much for your help!!!!!Word does not really have number formatting for table cells. You can align cell contents on the decimal point, though, by setting a so-called decimal tab stop.
Option 1:
- Select the cells for which you want to do this.
- Display the ruler.
- Click the Tab box on the left hand side of the ruler until the box contains an inverted T with a dot.
- Click in the ruler where you want the decimal tab.
Option 2:
- Select the cells for which you want to do this.
- Click the arrow in the lower right corner of the Paragraph group on the Home tab of the ribbon.
- Click the Tabs... button in the lower left corner of the dialog.
- Specify a tab position in the box, e.g. 1.5".
- Select the 'Decimal' radio button under 'Alignment'.
- Click Set.
- Click OK.
You will have to type the numbers as they should appear, including the $ for currency and the ( ) for negative numbers.

How to set locale to accept German number format?
I'm just evaluating the BC4J framework and built a struts-based JSP page for BC4J. The application should be multilingual. How can I change the locale (especially the number input format) to german, so that a decimal comma is accepted? If that isn't possible, can someone give me a hint, in which class/method to put the code for parsing or validating the input string?

How to override the NUMBER format in BEX?
Hi,
I want to override the number formats in BEX queries (Excel).
In the Query Designer -> Query Properties -> Value Display,
or in 3.x: Query Properties -> Display -> Number Format,
the setting "Display of +/- Signs" affects how the numeric values in Excel will be displayed. This setting seems to take effect after everything else is done.
I can change any cell formatting (pattern, border, color, etc.) except the number format. I have tried redefining Styles, assign different styles to the Result Area, setting up a default template, even Visual Basic (Sub SAPBEXonRefresh), nothing works, my settings always get overwritten by the query setting.
For example:
I am trying to assign the Number Format "Accounting", with a "$" sign in the far left of the fields, to the amounts in my workbook.
It should look like this: "$ (123,456.00)"
The results: my settings are replaced by the format "Currency" with the "$" sign.
" ($123,456.00)"
It must be due to that number format setting in the query designer.
I was hoping the number format setting in the query designer could be switched off. But apparently it is not possible. Not even the "Adjust Formatting after Refreshing" setting affects this behavior. It always takes effect.
Does anyone have any idea what could be done about it?
Thank you,
VinceOK, I think I have just found the answer to my own question...
I had done something in the VB editor that created this whole problem. Now it is fixed and works as it should.
Thanks anyway. -
How to globally modify number formatting in Crystal Reports
How do I globally modify the number formatting in Crystal Reports to NOT use the default which is “System Default Number Format”? The goal is to modify the number formatting to NOT contain commas. This modification should be global and should apply to any local account that will launch and use Crystal Reports on the server where it is installed. Can anyone help?
Hi Raghavendra,
For new reports, we have tried the setting you specified. The question is, how can we force Crystal Reports to “keep” and “retain” the adjusted format globally every time users create a new report?
Thank you!

How to change number format to international setting
Hello everyone,
I need some help on how to change the number format on my phone from the standard US format to an international format with no spacing between the numbers. Currently, my numbers appear as: 0706 343 3456. However, I will like for it to appear as 07063433456. When i recieve calls, the number format is not recognised and I cannot tell who is calling. Same goes for SMS messages. In this part of the world, the number format is not spaced, which is quite frustriating.
Can anyone please advice me on how to go about this.
ThanksReally? I tried that but it did not work. I restarted the iphone several times but the number format did not change.

How to change number format in web reports
Hi, Experts,
Simple question, if I want to change the number format on web report as following
. . . . . . . . Actual
. . . . . . . . *1000SGD
new order . 341.5
sales . 567.45
if I click "Actual" then select properties, set data format from "in 1000" & "0" to "in 1" & "0.00", nothing changed in web report after refresh.
if i click one number (for example: 341.5) or "New order" to set data format from "in 1000" & "0" to "in 1" & "0.00", only this row's format is changed, others row still keep old format.
how to change whole column's data format at once setting?
thanks in advance.

In iCloud you have the ability to NOT format phone numbers of contacts; this ability is not available on the contacts of iPhone. If I set-up a phone number in iCloud with NO parenthesis, ex. 123- 456-7899, then this format should be available on the iPhone contact.
That is correct is doesn't. Standardized formatting of phone numbers in the iOS app is more important because it supports contact from a variety of locations (gmail, hotmail, etc.). iCloud doesn't (not directly).

select * from table name where filed name =2.44705130197009E18 ,field name is of number (20) data type .but i am not getting any data fectched .
your advice is at most appriciated .
Regards,
SujaExample of what I was saying...
SQL> create table myexp (name number);
Table created.
SQL> insert into myexp values (2447051301970090001);
1 row created.
SQL> select name from myexp;
NAME
2.4471E+18
SQL> col name format 9999999999999999999999999999999999999
SQL> select name from myexp;
NAME
2447051301970090001
SQL>
The number you are seeing as an exponent is not just the number that is stored with lots of 0's on it, there's other information you are missing, so you need to change your format to see the true value. -

I have 2 sections in my Pages document. I am using Insert Auto Pages in footers to number my pages, but when I try to change the number format for one section it changes the format to the same as my change for the other section. I want auto page number in each section but want each section's page numbers to have different formats. I have managed to get the auto page numbering to begin separately in each section, but just can't get the formats to be different. There must be a way to do this. Anyone know how?
You look on the right edge of this page in the box entitled [More Like This].
The dumb machine was able to find threads containing available answers .
Using the Search feature with a simple request like
page number AND format AND section
would have give these links without opening a new thread.

How to stop Outlook 2007 from changing my telephone number format?
I'm using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007 (and Exchange 2007 SP1).
Now, in Outlook's contact, whenever I enter a telephone number, the stupid Outlook 2007 always tries to be smart and add brackets to the first few digits! There's no brackets in tel number. How could I make it stop from being too smart and changing anything?I've found another PC with XP and Outlook 2007, but I still can't find any service called "Windows Dialing". But I tried it anyway. Guess what I got: in this computer, a normal local telephone format isn't changed. But when the number is in long distance format, ie +XX YYYYYYY, Outlook 2007 stupidly removes the '+' sign in front of it!
I then tried in my first PC to see what would happen to international telephone number format.... it's OK, the '+' sign isn't deleted.
What a f**k! What's this ____ called Outlook 2007 which tries to reformat things it can't understand??
I have exactly the same problem - I am in the UK and have a pile of UK numbers stored in international format (which most cell phones recognise and some generate automatically from incoming calls). So the number would be entered as +44 1234 56789. Outlook strips off the + and, because I sync with my pda, the numbers get exported to it in a broken state :-(
In the UK, we don't drop leading digits - to dial a number I either dial 01234 56789 or +44 1234 56789. We don't really use local numbers a lot in the UK - it doesn't make any difference within a local area if I dial the full code, just the local number or the international version. So there is no need for Outlook to do anything.
This is extremely aggravating - sure ly Outlook is not hard coded to use US phone dialling methods?
There must be a way to disable the automatic parsing of numbers - if not it is bug that needs fixing, IMHO...

How to make sure what material number format is the same in SRM and R/3?
Hi all!
I faced the following problem:
"Product does not exist in plant or it has been flagged for deletion". This error message occurs during shopping cart creation or during transferring purchase requisition from R/3 to SRM. It seems like SRM carries out some material checking in R/3 before shopping cart save and can't find out appropriate R/3 material. The only reason I can assume is different material number formats in SRM and R/3. Material number length is the same in both systems.
Thanks in advance,
Alexander.Alex-
We experienced this problem just recently. Our situation involved trying to add a material to the cart from an internal catalog (CCM). As mentioned earlier their is a configuration setting to indicate the number of characters the "Product" (SRM terminolgoy) or "Material" (R/3 terminology) should be. We made our setting 18 characters (same length as field in R/3). The important thing to understand is that the material number is actually defined as a character field, not a numerical field so the length of the material "number" is critical for the system to accurately check the material. Do the following and see if you correct the error.
1) Go into transaction COMMPR01 in SRM, select the search tab and choose Material in the Find box, then click start. Choose the material you are experiencing the problem on and verify that the number of characters is the same in SRM as it is in R/3.
2) Next, go into R/3 and look at table entries in MARC for the material. This will show you all the different plants associated with the material.
3) Finally, create a cart and procure the material. If you get the error message go to the basic data of the cart and verify the location (plant) is one of the plants you found in step 2. If not, change the location to one from step 2 and check the cart.
