Number Precision lost while inserting

I have a table with following structure
Desc dummycol1     number(28,7)
When I try following query:
INSERT INTO DUMMY1 VALUES (9999999999999)
Output is:
A
9999999999999.0003200
This output is taken from a software called PL/SQL Developer.SQLPlus shows the value as "1.0000E+13"
The result varies with different values and correct for values upto 12 digits number.
How can a confirm what value is stored in database.And if wrong value is getting inserted what is the reason for it.
Thanks is advance.

Then what you send to the database is not what you specified...
This is not an Oracle issue, but likely on due to NLS settings, local client environment settings, or the the like.
In SQL*Plus, Oracle 10.2.0.1:
SQL> create table dummy( col1 number(28,7) );
Table created.
SQL> insert into dummy values( 9999999999999 );
1 row created.
SQL> commit;
Commit complete.
SQL> col col1 format 999999999999999999999990.000000000000000
SQL> select col1, DUMP(col1) from dummy;

  • OBI precision lost while drilling

    Hello,
    I would like to ask experts if any of you encounter problem with precision being lost while drilling.
    Environment:
    MSSQL database
    OBI 11.1.1.6.0
    I've created measure (let's call it "ab") which is adding two other logical measures (a + b).
    "ab" logical column is nullable with formula: "case when a is null and b is null then null else ifnull(a, 0) + ifnull(b, 0) end"
    When I'm drilling location dimension from level X to Y (lower) precision for ab measure is being lost.
    Source of that problem is SQL phrase convert( REAL , NULL ) which OBI is generating for DOUBLE PRECISION logical column (ab).
    At the end of SQL statement when all location levels are folded OBI is providing statement which is limiting precision
    case when convert( REAL , NULL ) is null and D1.c1 is null then NULL else isnull(convert( REAL , NULL ) , 0.0) + isnull(D1.c1 , 0.0) end as c14
    Column c1 in statement above is DECIMAL(20,2) type.
    Could you please provide any workaround for this?
    PS. I've created service request but 6 months of no resolution so I hope to get some workaround here :).
    Regards,
    Lucas

    thanks for answer, but it's not the case.
    For example on Europe level I'm getting 123'456'426.8 value and after drill down I'm getting 123'456'432.0 (also for Europe) because of precision truncate in database query. Precision is changed because of convert( REAL , NULL ) statement.
    When I run same as OBI physical query with convert( REAL , NULL ) changed to convert( FLOAT , NULL ) values are correct.

  • Number gets rounded while inserting

    Hi,
    Help required
    query is as below :
    desc test_load
    Name Null? Type
    B VARCHAR2(10)
    select b,substr(b,1,length(b)-2)||'.'||substr(b,-2,2) amt from test_load;
    B AMT
    3232922618 32329226.18
    desc sql_amt
    Name Null? Type
    A NUMBER
    insert into sql_amt
    select substr(b,1,length(b)-2)||'.'||substr(b,-2,2) amt from test_load;
    select * from sql_amt;
    A
    32329226.2
    the above values rounded 32329226.2 it should be 32329226.18
    Pls let me know the Solution
    Thanks & Regards
    Vishal

    As Citrus pointed out, it's merely to do with how the data is displayed in the tool which retrieves it, not how the data is actually stored on the database.
    If your retrieval environment (SQL*Plus, Toad or whatever) is set to display numbers with a single decimal place then they will automatically round your numbers as they are retrieved. This doesn't mean that the data is stored wrongly on the database, just that you haven't specified the correct display format for your requirements in your tool.

    I have lost IMEI number and WIFI while downgrading on Iphone 3GS 8GB.Would I get back IMEI while resotring?

    Since you attempted to downgrade the phone, you have no warranty and your ability to get support here or from Apple has been forfeited.
    You're on your own.  A Missing IMEI is generally unfixable.  Buy a new phone.

    ORA-06512: at line 7The problem is that your variable subject_obj is not in scope inside the dynamic SQL you are building. The SQL engine does not know your PL/SQL variable, so it tries to find a column named SUBJECT_OBJ in your SAM1 table.
    If you need to use dynamic SQL for this, then you must bind the variable. Something like this:
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'insert into op_sample (select id,name,:bind_subject_obj from sam1) ' USING subject_obj;Alternatively you might figure out to use static SQL rather than dynamic SQL (if possible for your project.) In static SQL the PL/SQL engine binds the variables for you automatically.

    If I try to insert only BLOB object (lines 30, 42 are NOT COMMENTED OUT, line 43 is commented out) - everything is OK again.
    If I try to insert them both having some values (lines 30, 43 are commented out, 42 is not commented out) - it fails right on "command.ExecuteNonQuery();" (line 54)
    with the following exception:
    "ORA-21500: internal error code, arguments: [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%s], [%]".
    Even when I nullify oraBlob before assigning it to OracleParameter value (line 30 is commented out, line 42 and 43 are not) I have the same exception.
    XMLDOCUMENT and DLOB data logically are very coupled objects (in my application), so I really want to insert them simultaneously in one stored procedure in transactional way.
    Is it bug of drivers, server, .net environment, or I miss something in implementation?
    PS. In some articles on Oracle web and in MSDN site I found a mention about necessity of wrapping all write/update operations in a transaction, while working with temporary LOBs. I use it here, but it does not look like changing anything.

    Hello,
    I tested your code with the 10.1.0.4.0 ODP and 10.1.0.4.0 Client and it worked fine.
    Can you please apply the 10.1.0.4.0 patches for both ODP and client to see if this resolves the issue for you.
    Here is the output from the same execution of the ODP application you provided as a testcase. These rows were inserted at the same time when I executed the application and passed the data as parameters to the SP you provided.

    Hi Murthy
    With a first glance, I think you have given a wrong parameter value to "validityend". It should be '99991231' not '31129999' .
    If your problem still persists, try inserting the data online from PA30. If your input causes no errors, then please state what the return parameter contains.

  • Issue while inserting a BDC program in Inbound Proxy.JDBC-- PI-- SAP.

    The scenerio is jdbcsender-sappi-inboundproxy(ECC6.0).
    The issue is related to SAP Plant Maintenance Module where  We have a requirement for creating Maintenance item
    programmatically from (SQLDatabase)Legacy Data for one of the interface.
    since there are no standard BAPIS/Idocs or function modules available from SAP side for creating the maintenance item. So I
    have written BDC program and with the help of submit statement in inbound proxy program, I am calling BDC program for
    creation of the maintenance item.
    When I tested the program independently on proxy side  the Maintenance Item is getting created successfully but when I
    executed from end-to-end ie.  SQLDATABASE->SAP PI-->SAP. The message is getting strucked into the queue and queue  got stopped on SAP.
    ECC side and the status of the message is scheduled state  on SXMB_MONI  transaction of SAP ECC.
    As the message  is in scheduled state multiple number of Maintenance Items are getting created with the same values.
    Has any one of our SAP friends, encountered this type of issue while inserting a BDC program in inbound proxy, please help
    in fixing this issue. FYI... I am using sap pi7.0 with service pack 24 and ecc6.0
    Waiting for your kind expert guidance...
    cheers,

    Raj,
    Thanks for the reply. I have tried registering the queues but still the same problem. the message got stuck in the queue of ECC and showing below message in queue.
    function module                                    StatusText

    I have checked in the forums especially  for this issue but no one has provided the answer for this.

    Actually the problem is being occurred while inserting value in Job Flex Field Value set, we have created two segment for job key flex filed, No and name, it was working fine, but since we have uploaded bulk data via api "fnd_flex_values_pkg.INSERT_ROW" which was around 100 off record, but after completion this task system is not taking new value by Values set interface, and show message "APPS-FND-01206: You entered duplicate values or sequence of value that must be unique for every record",

    It insert the value as 12345678901234600 (value changed after Apply)
    The I tried with simple SQL insert statement to insert data and it successfully insert 12345678901234567.12345 value.
    Any item property I missed here to set?

    this statement ,it seems that it is definitely applying round or somthing like that function in the code before inserting value in the table("try with select round(12345678901234567.1234 ) from dual u will get the same result = 123456789012345600 ") ,
    bcz u r able to insert the same directely into the table using insert statement so kindely have look on the code if something like this is not happening there.try to check code in related EOimpl class
    try to to use debugging mode ,and the 23 char problem is related to maximum lenghth of text box make it 23 it will get resolved and u will be able to enter 17 digits with 5 digits after decimal point
    thanx pratap

  • Pan number compulsory field while creating vendor code

    is it possible to make pan number compulsory field while creating vendor code

    Dear Sanjeev
    you can make PAN number mandatory use t.code shd0 in that first give transaction code than give screen variant detail for screen variant program go to xk01 and then go to pan field here click on f1 then click on technical specification u can copy the program and screen name after that click on create tab the xk01 screen field comes again go to pan field double click on that field and then select this as required field and save . then go to transaction variants give the transaction name and add a row in which insert row and gives screen  variant , program and screen then save it now move to standard variant give your  screen variant name and activate  now your pan field is mandatory . if you have any problem in understanding i can provide you the screen shot also on your mail. provide your email id

  • Wm_Valid: Fail to convert to internal representation error while inserting

    Hi,
    I'm trying to execute an insert via XmlCommand. The table is created with this statement:
    create table testtable4 (testtable4_pk number, mydate date, myts timestamp with time zone, wm_valid wm_period);
    I have a problem while inserting on a simple table with wm_period field. The c# code is the following:
    OracleConnection oraConnection;
    OracleCommand insertCommand;
    string[] KeyColumnsList = null;
    string[] UpdateColumnsList = null;
    string xml1 = "<?xml version=\"1.0\"?>\n" +
    "<ROWSET>\n" +
    "<MYROW num = \"1\">\n" +
    "<TESTTABLE4_PK>1</TESTTABLE4_PK><MYDATE>2012-01-20T00:00:00.00000</MYDATE><MYTS>01-01-11T00:00:00.000000000 +00:00</MYTS>" +
    "</MYROW>\n" +
    "</ROWSET>\n";
    string xml2 = "<?xml version=\"1.0\"?>\n" +

    KeyColumnsList = new string[1];
    KeyColumnsList[0] = "TESTTABLE4_PK";
    UpdateColumnsList = new string[4];
    UpdateColumnsList[0] = "TESTTABLE4_PK";
    UpdateColumnsList[1] = "MYDATE";

    cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();
    insertCommand = new OracleCommand();

    insertCommand.XmlCommandType = OracleXmlCommandType.Insert;
    insertCommand.XmlSaveProperties.KeyColumnsList = KeyColumnsList;
    insertCommand.XmlSaveProperties.RowTag = "MYROW";
    insertCommand.XmlSaveProperties.Table = "TESTTABLE4";
    insertCommand.XmlSaveProperties.UpdateColumnsList = UpdateColumnsList;

    insertCommand.Dispose();
    oraConnection.Close();
    oraConnection.Dispose();
    catch (Exception err)
    this.WriteLogErr("ERROR: " + err.Message);
    With the first ExecuteNonQuery I attempt an insert of a data value and a timestamp with timezone value. The execution is ok (xml1).
    When the second ExecuteNonQuery is run (with the value of wm_valid), the execution fails with this error:
    ERROR: ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: 'java.sql.SQLException: Fail to convert to internal representation: 01-01-11T00:00:00.000000000 +00:00' encountered during processing ROW element 0. The stored procedure at row 111 calls this Java method:
    oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLStaticSave.insertXML(int, java.lang.String) return int
    The structure of complex data type wm_period is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE wm_period AS OBJECT (
    validfrom TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE,
    validtill TIMESTAMP WITH TIME ZONE);
    The problem is: I am able to insert a timestamp with timezone value (myts) but I'm not able to insert a wm_valid that contains two values of the same type...
    This works: <MYTS>2011-01-01T00:00:00.00000</MYTS>
    This fails: <WM_VALID><VALIDFROM>2011-01-01T00:00:00.00000</VALIDFROM></WM_VALID>
    I also tried to change the format of NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT with a lot of various setup, but nothing changed.
    Thanks in advance for your precious help.
    Best Regards,
    Mario.

    Hi jschell ...thnx for ur reply......
    the getString(2) parameter is just avarchar which
    return the error from the procedure, if its ok,then
    the query is executed properly..its just a check I've
    kept to jump into the next step.If the status is OK,
    then I'm retrieving the values from the cursor. I'm
    getting right value for this parameter.I wasn't questioning the logic. I understand what you are doing.
    However JDBC drivers can have problems when items are retrieved out of order.
    You might also try switching driver types. If the thin works and oci doesn't (or visa-versa) then you know it is a driver problem and you will just have to try a work around.

  • Oerror while inserting in to 11g database from SOA suite 11g db adaptor

    Hi,
    I am getting following error while inserting in to 11g database from SOA suite 11g database adaptor. Can you please help me on this.
    "{http://schemas.oracle.com/bpel/extension}bindingFault" has been thrown.
    Exception occured when binding was invoked. Exception occured during invocation of JCA binding: "JCA Binding execute of Reference operation 'insert' failed due to: DBWriteInteractionSpec Execute Failed Exception. insert failed. Please examine the above error message carefully to determine a resolution. ORA-01722: invalid number 1722
    Regards,

    It looks like you try to insert a string-value in a number-column.
    can you check all your assign and their values before you invoke the db-adapter, then you should be able to narrow down the problem.

  • Tag structure lost while combining multiple PDF files

    Hi All,
    As per client requirements, we have been using ABBYY Fine reader to create PDFs. After creating multiple PDFs of a huge book (separated logically according to Units consisting diff Chapters), we have tagged them correctly.
    We need to know put these tagged PDFs together. However, while combining multiple tagged files, we loss the Tagged structure!!! (using Adobe 8 Professional)
    Any idea, why are we losing our tags in the combined file? Any help in this matter would be highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!
    Mamta

    Hello Steve (and ALL),
    We are combining the files using File --> Combine Files... dialog box. We also tried Document --> Insert Pages. In both the cases, my tag structure of all files just dont appear!
    While combining files we get the following:
    Tags
    --- Document
    -----Part (Empty)
    -----Part (Empty)
    -----Part (Empty)
    (The number of "Part" corresponds to the number of files I try to combine)
    While Inserting the pages into a file, we only get to see the tag structure of the first file into which we insert the pages.
    Are there any other methods to combine the files???
    Regards,
    Mamta
