  • CRM  - how to work with Best Practices

    Hi All,
we will start with the implementation of mySAP CRM during the next weeks.
I'm a bit confused - how should I work with Best Practices, and what are the differences between the 3 ways for Best Practices
    1) we have a 'Solution Manager' System where I can use Best Practices for CRM
    2) Best Practices on help.sap.com: http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv250/CRM_DE/html/index_DE.htm (Buliding Blocks!)
    3) Best Practices DVD to install on the CRM System
Are the 3 ways exchangeable? Is there some information provided by SAP?
We have already installed the Best Practices DVD, but now I don't know how to use this Add-On: Is there a special transaction-code to use them or a extension for the IMG?
    regards
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan Kübler,
If the solution manager is in place, then the suggested (also the best) method is to use the best practices on it.
If you want to install and use the best practices with CRM system then the procedure is given in the best practice CD/DVD. Also you can download the installation procedure from the below link : http://help.sap.com/bp_crmv340/CRM_DE/index.htm. Click on ‘Installation’ on left and then ‘Quick Guide’ on right. Download the document.
Though the best practices give you a way to start with, but they can’t replace your requirement. You have to configure the system as per your exact business requirement.
I never installed best practices before, but extensively used them as reference in all my projects.
Follow the below thread for additional information on  best practices :

  • CRM Best Practices V1.2007 with ERP HR Integration, C01 and C05

    Hi,
working on Best Practices CRM V.1.2007 I  now should proceed with Building Block C01 (CRM Organizational Model).
I want to use the CRM System integrated with a new installed ERP System and HR Integration.
Therefore I have to use the Building Block C05 (CRM Organizational Model with HR Integration) instead of C01 (CRM Orgnizational Model)
My Question: Is it allowed to proceed with C05 by doing the work direct from the SAP GUI Menu; afterwards I could confirm the steps in the Solution Builder for C01?
    Regards, Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
Yes, you could do that. But be aware that the other building blocks for master and transaction data replication should not be started unless you are done with the org model BB C01.

    Padma

  • "Best Practices" for using different Authentication Schemes ?

    Hi
We are using different authentication schemes in different environments (Dev/QA/Prod). Changing the authentication scheme between the environments is currently a manual step during the installation. I am wondering if there are better "Best Practices" to follow, where the scheme is set programmatically as part of the build/ load process for a specific environment. ... or any other ideas.
We refrained from merging the authentication schemes (which is possible) for the following reasons:
    - the authentication code becomes unnecessary complex
    - some functions required in some environments are not available in all environments (LDAP integration through centrally predefined APIs), requiring dynamic execution
Any suggestions / experience / recommendation to share are appreciated.

Thanks Vikram ... I stumbled over this post, I was more interested in what the "Work Around" / "Best Practices" given these restrictions.
    So I take it that:
    * load & change; or
    * maintain multiple exports
seem to be the only viable options
... in addition to the one referred to in my questions.
    Best,
    - ThomasThomas,
Its up-to you really and depends on many criteria +(i think its more of release process and version controlling)+.
I haven't come across a similar scenario before..but I would maintain multiple exports so that the installation can be automated (no manual intervention required).
Once the API is published +(god knows when it will be)+ you can just maintain one export with an extra script to call the API.
I guess you can do the same thing with the load & change approach but I would recommend avoiding manual intervention.

  • What Web frame work to go with EJB3?

Our coming new project dictates EJB so we plan to use EJB3. But what web frame work is best to go with EJB3? We are currently using Struts1 and EJB2 in our existing project.
We narrowed down to Struts 1, Struts 2, JSF, and Spring MVC. Since EJB 3 is new to us, we don't know which one is best for EJB 3 integration. Anyone can share their experience? Thanks.

I suggest you seam framefork with richfaces components, this framefork integrates JSF + EJB and based on MVC of coarse, so that framework gives you great flexibility to write good application
for jsf UI components you can see this [http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/actionparam.jsf|http://livedemo.exadel.com/richfaces-demo/richfaces/actionparam.jsf]
    and for seam framework [http://seamframework.org/|http://seamframework.org/]

  • Best Practice for Image placement and Anchored Frames for use in Robohelp 9

    Hi,
I'm looking for the best practices in how to layout my images in Framemaker 10 so that they translate correctly to Robohelp 9.  I currently have images inside of Anchored frames that "Run into" the right side of my text. I've adjusted the size of the anchored frame so that my text flows correctly around the image. Everything looks good in Framemaker! Yeah! The problem is that when I link my Framemaker document to Robohelp, the text does not flow around my image in the same manner. On a couple of Robohelp screens the image is running into the footer. I'm wondering if I should be using tables in Framemaker in order to get the page layout that I'm looking for. Also, I went back and forth...is this a Framemaker question or is this a Robohelp question. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I think Jeff is meaning this section of the RoboHelp forums:

  • IPhone Best Practices - A Work In Progress

Hello all. I've been tasked with introducing my coworkers into the inner workings of the iPhone, and there are a good number of pointers that I find myself saying over and over again. I'd like to share my best practices with everyone, as well as collect more pointers and opinions from the community at large.
    Care and Handling:
First - wash your hands, often. Now I know we all do this often anyway, but I'd like to point out that a healthy amount of hand washing will really go a long way to keep your iPhone screen smudge free. The worst offender, unfortunately, is doughnuts. A small layer of sugar will render that area un-tappable, without any real indication that it has done so. If you are frantically tapping the screen on the iPod button and nothing is happening, clean your phone before you do a hard reset.
Second - Pockets. Keeping your phone in your front pocket is natural and what most of us do. In these summer months, however, keeping your phone in a sweaty front pocket can do a good deal to the dirt level of the screen. If you find yourself cleaning your phone constantly, try a belt clip.
Lastly - Battery Life. Your iPhone's battery life is in your hands, literally. Being aware of your power consumption and planning accordingly is going to be infinitely more important that the battery's native charge-holding ability. This goes especially for the day of purchase - as tempting as it may be to open the box and activate, immediately running around the house watching YouTube, it is best to let the phone charge for 12 hours before use. Charging the phone every night is an absolute must, skipping a day will kill the battery life as your ride the bottom edge the following day. Most of us have access to a USB port while we're at work, best idea will be to plug in your phone when you sit down at your desk.
    iPod:
Large Libraries: In the opening weekend, I got many complaints that you cannot manually manage your music. There is a workaround that has made me change the way I work with all of my iPods: the iPhone specific playlist. Simply create a playlist with all of the music you wish to put on your phone and sync that one playlist. This also helps with sync time - you have a start sync and an end sync, not a constant sync all throughout your music management, slowing your computer down in the process.
TV Shows: I watch a lot of MST3K, which I have organized into iTunes as TV shows, split into seasons, the works. The problem that has arisen, therefore, is the one of selective synchronization - you cannot specifically select the TV show you want to sync to the device, instead getting the choices to sync all, unwatched, or latest shows. This is problematic when each show is 700MB large. Here's the work around - select all of the episodes of a specific show and right click, selecting "Mark as Not New", removing all of the little blue dots from the episodes. Select the one, three, or five episodes, and right click them, selecting "Mark as New", then sync the last one, three, or five unwatched episodes. The shows you selected will sync.
    iPhoto:
Many users are complaining that iPhoto opens whenever the phone is connected. This is not a preference of the phone, but rather iPhoto. Remember when you first launched iPhoto and it asked you if you wanted to use iPhoto whenever your camera was attached? iPhoto is detecting that your phone is a camera and launching, just as you told it to do.
    Mail:
POP accounts - too many unread messages: When first adding a POP account, all of the messages downloaded to the phone arrive as unread. Tapping a message, tapping back, and then tapping the next message can get tedious. Here's the workaround - tap the small down arrow to the upper right hand side of the screen, watching closely to the number next to Inbox. When that number goes down by one, tap the arrow again. If that number hasn't gone down yet, wait a sec, and do not try to tap tap tap tap tap, you'll flood the input queue and crash Mail.
Syncing Mail accounts - All too often people blame the iPhone when their mail does not work. A perfect test is sync you accounts from Mail. If they work in mail, they'll work on the phone, if they are unreliable in Mail, they will also be unreliable on the phone. The Mail client on the iPhone is just as powerful as any other mail client in terms of how it connects to mail servers, if you are having problems you need to check your settings before blaming the hardware. If you prefer to leave your install of Mail.app alone, create a new user account on your Mac, set up all of the accounts you want there, and use iTunes to sync that data to the phone. Make sure to remove that portion of sync from your actual user account's instance of iTunes, however, or it will all sync back.
This message has not been downloaded from the server: This message has snagged a couple users, but upon investigation, these users have filled their iPhones to the absolute brim with music and video. It hasn't been downloaded from the server because there is no space to download to - this also applies to the Camera application dumping to the Home screen. Because there is no space, it can't add any new data. Make some room, then be patient as the mail client gets to that message in cleanup (often a sync or reboot will clear it up).
    Safari:
Safari and iPod: Many users have reported iPod stopping in the middle of browsing, often pouting and pursing their lips crying, "This is terrible, I can't even browse the web and listen to music at the same time?". I then check their phone, and lo and behold they have upwards of eight separate pages open at the same time. This device (like every other computer out there) has a finite amount of memory, each page taking up a significant portion depending on how busy the page is. I've routinely gotten through entire albums while browsing through Safari, but I've got one page open in total, and it's usually mostly text. Keep it to one or two pages open and iPod will run forever if you let it.
Web Apps: "This web app is terrible, it keeps booting me to Home!" When was your last reboot? How many other pages are open? In the same vein as Safari and iPod, Web Apps need a good deal of breathing room - give it to them. Close down other pages, stop iPod, or even reboot. Give the app a clean slate and it will perform, every time. iPhoneRemote users will attest to this.
    iCal:
Multiple Calendars - Default Calendar: When adding a new appointment, it adds to the default calendar. Appointments can't be shunted to the correct calendar until after sync anyway, so create an "iPhone" calendar and make that the default. Because it's in that calendar, you'll know enough to move it to the appropriate calendar after sync.
Please feel free to add your own best practices, and ask questions, too.

is there any application you can get for the iphone to enlarge text and phone numbers ?
If included with an email or on a website, yes with no application needed.
If you are referring to the text size for your iPhone's contact list, no.
can you insert a phone number from your contact list into a text message ?
    No.
i cant seem to figure it out, does the alarm clock work if you turn off the phone at night,
No - powered off with the iPhone means powered off. Any phone that provides for this is not powered off - it is in deep sleep or deep standby mode, which the iPhone does not support. If you don't want your phone ringing or don't want to receive SMS at night but you want to use the iPhone's alarm feature as a wake-up alarm, you can turn on Airplane Mode before going to bed, which will also conserve the battery if your iPhone is not plugged in at night.
can you send a multi media text message ?
    No.

  • Best Practice to Setup an application to work with both oracle and db2 db

    Hi,
We have an application that currently supports both oracle and db2 databases . It is currently using JPA with eclipselink as backend mechanism and we want to move to ADFBc as our backend . So what is best practice to do this?
I came across an old post in https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/adf-methodology/UlJZSTu14Io that states to create two different model projects to support oracle and db2 .
Is this still the standard ? Is there a way that we could work around rather than creating multiple projects?
How do i get the view controller to work with multiple model projects if this is the case?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for the response .
The problem is i would have the same schema on both the databases (both in oracle and db2) .
I don't see a scenario where i want both the application model projects at the same time . What i meant is , Application will either be deployed with Oracle DB or DB2 but not with both on a production environment .
So is there a way where i just change the connection parameters alone rather having two different models ?
If i have to use two model projects ,  would it be possible say i built the view controller for Oracle , and use it for DB2 if i make sure the BC objects names are similar between model projects and switch just the model jar based on the deployment environment ?

  • Seaching for Best Practice links that work

    Hi,
past few years I have been able to access SAP Best Practices documents like SAP Best Practices SAP Best Practices for CP and Wholesale Industries
(this one still works and guides me to the building block and process overview documents!).
Recently any link I can find to SAP Industry or Baseline Best Practices ends up with a dead link. See for example trying to get from here SAP Best Practices Baseline packages – SAP Help Portal Page
to Localized for Netherlands V1.607 SAP Best Practices package further below on that page, results in screen shot attached. I have seen that in many more examples (different countries, or in Industry Best Practice Packages instead of Country Baseline packages....)
Does any know whether and how SAP redesigned their access to Best Practices documents (Configuration Guides, eCatts, Scenario Process Overviews etc.?
    Thanks for your reply.
    Thijs

    Hi, Thijs,
There is currently a problem with Best Practices on the Help Portal.  On the home page of the portal (http://help.sap.com/) there is a message that reads "Stay Tuned - There are temporary problems when accessing some content types, for example PDF documents or Best Practices. We are working on a solution."
Our Wholesale Distribution industry group does not manage the Help Portal pages, so, unfortunately, I don't know the status of the problem or when it might be resolved.

  • Best Practice For Working on Composite In Team

    Hello,
I would like to know what is the best practice for working on a single composite by mutiple members in a team.
We have a core services module wherein a single composite contains many services. So, to complete in time, we would like many members to work on it simultaneously.
In such scenarios, if some one adds a new adapter or some other services, composite.xml changes.
Saving it would override other member's changes. Also, it is not possible to apply lock simultaneously on the same file through some version control mechanism.
Please let us know what should be the best practice in such scenarios.
    Thanks-
    Ashish

You can very well use a version control software with JDev. You may refer -
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/soa/jimerson-config-soa-355383.html
I think without version control mechanism (like subversion) it won't be easy to work in a multi-developer environment. If you really don't have a source and version control mechanism then manual merging will be required which may be error prone and time & effort consuming.

  • Best practice for exporting a dps folio so a third party can work on it?

    Hi All,
Keen for some thoughts on the best practice for exporting a dps folio, indd files, links and all, so a third party can carry on the work. Is their a better alternative to packaging each individual indd file and sharing the folio through adobe?
I know there have been similar questions here in the past, but the last (that i've found) was updated mid 2011 and I was wondering if their have been any improvements to this seemingly backwards workflow since then.
    Thanks in advance!

Nothing better than packaging them and using Dropbox to share. I caution you
on one thing as far as packaging:

  • Best Practices for image layout and positioning using anchored frames in Framemaker 10

    Hi,
I'm looking for the best practices in how to layout my images in Framemaker 10 so that they translate correctly to Robohelp 9. Also, I went back and forth...is this a Framemaker question or is this a Robohelp question. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I wish I could offer some advice, rather than simply adding to your question. I think there is something odd that happens with anchored frames.
I have been going through fits trying to figure out why the placement of my graphics shifts when I run them through Frame 10-to-RoboHelp 9 conversion. The placement in our books is flush left to the body text area. However, when they convert, some are flush left, some are centered, and a very few are flush right. My boss is very unhappy with me, as I have been unable to figure out why this is happening. I didn't create these files, so I don't know if it's something that goes back to how the graphics were initially imported. But I can't figure out why everything looks right in Framemaker, with the frame attached to an anchor tag, etc. but the placement goes hinky when they convert.
Any insights are appreciated. I'm wondering if it's going to come down to deleting them and recreating the graphic frame.

  • Working with many sequences- best practice

    Hi.
I´ve just started using Adobe Premiere CS6. My goal is to create a 2 hour long movie, based on 30 hours of raw gopro footage recorded on a recent vacation.
Now my question is, what is the best practice for working with so many sequences/movie clips?
Do you have one heavy project file, with all the clips?
Or do you make small chapters that contains x number of sequences/is x minutes long, and in the end combine all these?
Or how would you do it the best way, so its easiest to work with?
    Thanks alot for your help.
    Kind regards,
    Lars

I'll answer your second question first, as it's more relevant to the topic.
You should export in the very highest quality you can based on what you started with.
The exception to this is if you have some end medium in mind. For example, it would be best to export 30 FPS if you are going to upload it to YouTube.
On the other hand, if you just want it as a video file on your computer, you should export it as 50 FPS because that retains the smooth, higher framerate.
Also, if you are making slow-motion scenes with that higher framerate, then export at the lowest framerate (for example, if you slow down a scene to 50% speed, your export should be at 25 FPS).
    About my computer:
It was for both, but I built it more with gaming in mind as I wasn't as heavily into editing then as I am now.
Now, I am upgrading components based on the editing performance gains I could get rather than gaming performance gains.
