OAS's application migrates 4.0.8 to the OAS 10G

I am trying to migrate an application that runs in 4.0.8 to the OAS 10G, and i want to know if you know if some procedure for best practice for do this.

What kind of applications are you running?
4.0.8 is quite old. The documented approach would be to go 4.0.8 > 1.0.2.2.2 > 9.0.2.3 > 10.1.2.0.2, which does not sound to tempting to me at least.

I suppose this paper is Oracle internal only at the moment.
If you have the option, try JDev 11g and setup all the JDBC and JMS stuff in it.

Migration from OAS 10g to Weblogic 10.3

I migrate large app from OAS 10g to Weblogic 10.3.
1.
The main part of the job was to prepare descriptors for Weblogic. Unfortunatelly I don't find any tool that could do the job:( There are some problems with descriptors namespaces. This schema and namespaces given in 10.3 docs are not working (not available):

There are also some bugs in docs about ejb relations.
After fixing some schema compliance exc this step success.
2. Next the EJBComplianceChecker - its much more restrictive than OAS verification. So updates in ejb interfaces are necessary. It is not a problem with small app but when there ale a lot of code/branches to migrate it's become a problem. I have been looking for some switch that could help with this but with no result/

3. Now after EJB compliance checker done its job with success I have an exception that I do not understand:

Migration of OAS 10g v(9.0.4.1) from one server to another?

Hi,
I would want to know how I can migrate j2ee applications that are deployed in OAS 10g v(9.0.4.1)installed on Sun server to OAS 10g v(9.0.4.1) installed on AIX server at the same OAS 10g version and patch level?
My question is: Can I just copy the application files from the existing instance to new instance or do I have to deploy each application independtly on the new instance?
How I can perform migartion of OAS 10g from one platform to another platform?

Hi GN!
I would think that copying the files will not be enough, as the DCM will not have the information about the deployed applications. Just redeploy them and it should waok as well as on the original server.

ADF/Swing/JClient application migration problem from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3

Hi,
I am migrating an application from JDev 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3 in order to deploy it to a java 1.6 JVM which is only certified with JDev 11.1.1.3
No matter what I do the DataBindings.cpx file content is emptied by the IDE, the migration was successful => no errors displayed.
I tried to solve the problem by doing the following but the file stays empty:
1) the removing the project from the application and adding it again, migration is done again => FILE EMPTY
2) adding manually the content in the source file then running XML validation => no errors, I close the file, reopen it and EMPTY AGAIN!
Your is needed and will be appreciated!

Application migration from 10.1.2 to 10.1.3.4

Hi,
In migrating our application from JDeveloper 10.1.2 to 10.1.3.4, we are experiencing an issue on one of the pages. The page contains First, Prev, Next, Last and All pagination buttons where the default range size is 10. If the user clicks the "ALL" button then the range size should be changed to be 500. Unfortunately, the range size continues to be 10 once the "ALL" button is clicked. The application is currently using Struts and the stuts-config.xml file was migrated to 10.1.3.4. I have been unable to find anything under Forums or through Google, so any help that you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Application Migration from HP-UNIX to SUN Solaris

Need help on the application migration from HP-UNIX to Sun Solaris . Copied the filesystems APPL_TOP, OA_HTML, OA_JAVA, COMMON_TOP/util and COMMON_TOP/_pages from SOURCE( HP) to TARGET SUN-solaris as per 238276.1

1. we still need to install jdk in the TARGET or copy the file system from source(HP) to target( Solaris) bring the JDK and how to check jdk on Solaris?
2. In clone autoconfig XML, contextfile=? Is the location of SOURCE or TARGER?
3. I think running above with root permission.
Please help somebody on this issue.

I need your help on the Application migration from HP-UNIX to SUN Solaris. As per the note 238276.1 we dont copy $806_ORACLE_HOME for cross platform migration, Copied all the filesystem from SOURCE to TARGET but rename it because it suppose to create while installing Middle tier.

Essbase Perform backup, recovery, application migration and task automation

Hi Everyone,
I am very new (actually starting) to Essbase and trying to learn it from the documentation and examples available on the web. At my job, we just are planning to use Hyperion Essbase for planning and budgeting application. As I am the Oracle DBA so the installation and admin tasks are falling on my shoulders. Can you please refer me to the documentation, Note or References for Essbase Performing backups, recovery, application migration, task automation and optimization. Or a starting point from where I can explore the Essbase administration part only.

Upgrading apex 3.0 to 3.2 fail at Installing Application Migration Workshop

I am trying to update apex from 3 (which comes with 11g) to 3.2 on 11g fresh install (2003 server) and it is failing to complete... heres the error from the install log

so far I have tryed direct from the 3.2 and it fails due to a user or some such not being created. I have tryed new 3 and then 3.2 over the top failed. as you have seen... I use the example step script povided by oracle on the upgrade site(http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/install.32/e13366/otn_install.htm)... I have reinstalled the database something like 10 15 times trying variouse methords... with the 3 install there is a simple walk through (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/11gr1_db/install/apexinst/apexinst.htm)... why is there not one for the 3.2

Web Service application - migrating to Glassfish

Hello!
I've a WebService app. which now runs on Tomcat 5.5.23 and was written using JAX-WS. I've install Sun Java System App. Server 9.0 and I intend to migrate our app. here.
The application is delivered as a war file which I've already deployed in glassfish using admin GUI of asadmin. I can see our app. at WebApplications section but I can't see it under WebServices section, although it seems at a first view that the application works and respond to client's request.
I'd like to ask you if I need to use a special tool for migrating our aplication or what I did is enough and there is no need for other changes.

I found how to do this in an excellent TechEd Europe document presented by some guy from SAP AG (I think) from a few years back.
Unfortunately, I didn't save the link. I had only a paper printout and I can't find the document again. It was buried in some article I read on some SAP web page.
Thomas Jung also has a presentation on this that can be found with search, but I was not able to follow that completely. The TechEd Europe piece could be followed line by line and had the necessary code examples (function modules) to demonstrate that the the Web Service was consumed. If I remember correctly, anything that is remote enabled in 6.20 can consume the service.
WebService in WebAS 6.20 is absolutely unique; implementing a web service in WebAS/Basis versions before and after are entirely different from WebAS 6.20.

Struts1.3 Application migration to webcenter

I have struts 1.3 application, Tiles used running on weblogic Server . Now I need to migrate to Webcenter what is the best way I can do . So my plan is create Webcenter portal Application and create task flow ,portlet for exited code .Is that the right way or any sujjestion please If u have any sujestion or do im dooing wrong , do i need to recoding everything any sujestion

You have varius alternatives:
- Register your Struts + Tiles in WebCenter External Applications and you can execute your application without migrating code.
- Creating a Portlet to be consumed by WSRP protocol is the easiest way to migrate a struts applications.
- On the other hand you can build Custom Task Flow. Probably if you haven't good skills at ADF you can lost more time with this way.
You have the last decision.

Is Application Migration Workshop integrated within the free APEX workspace hosted by Oracle at.http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn?
I am trying to evaluate the "Oracle Application Express Application Migration Workshop" (to convert Access Applications into APEX Applications) and it would be nice to not have to create the extensive development environment which can be very time consuming.

From my understanding,
No the APEX Migration workshop is not installed in the free Oracle demo apex public workspace environment.
One of the Apex experts will be able to confirm this information.
I've only used the tool in my own environment and I've never tried looking for it on the free oracle apex workspace.

SCCM2012 Application Migration

We have a development [DEV] site set up on a separate domain to our live [PRI] site. There is a Source Hierarachy set up between the two sites, one each, so we can transfer packages to the dev site to develop them, and back to the live site once
they're up and running. This works perfectly well with no issues [PRI] > [DEV], however not all the applications we have created on the [DEV] site show up as available to migrate to the [PRI] site. The only thing I can find to set them apart from ones that
do show up is that the ones showing up were created by the account NT\SYSTEM, as opposed to a user.
The account used for the migration has full access to the system (as a test) and the issue still occurred. I've also run manual Data Gathering, which shows up any changes I make to other objects, such as collections, without issue. I've been unable to
find any similar issues online, or much information about log files for this situation. Any help would be appreciated.
