OBE-15065: Syntax error query builder
Hello
i am using the below sql query.
SELECT (
A.emp ||
'200' ||
LPAD((SELECT COUNT(*) FROM TRANSACTIONS WHERE TRANSACTIONS.PROCESSED ='N'),6,'0') ||
LPAD((SELECT SUM(AMOUNT) FROM TRANSACTIONS WHERE TRANSACTIONS.PROCESSED ='N'),10,'0') ||
'000000000000' ||
LPAD(A.ORIGIN,10,' ') ||
RPAD(NVL(A.MSGAUTHCODE,' '),19,' ') ||
RPAD(NVL(A.RESERVED,' '),6,' ') ||
RPAD(A.IMDDEST,8,' ') ||
LPAD(A.BTNUMBER,7,'0'))
FROM CONTROL_TABLE A
This query works fine in sql*plus.
i am placing this query in report data wizard and the query builder gives error "OBE-15065: Syntax error"
the report i am developing is to a delimited output as a fixed length falt file.
because of this query whenever i try to export using desformat=delimite and destype=file in system parameters. the report builder crashes.
have anyone faced this sort of problem.
is there something wrong with the query and iam doing it in wrong way in the reports.
please give your suggestions
thanks in advance
krishna
You haven't said what version of Oracle or what version of Query Builder you are using. There are things that work in SQL, but not in PL/SQL or various tools, especially in older versions. A select statement within a select clause is one of those things that gets rejected. Usually, the easiest way to fix it is to move the select statement from the select clause to the from clause. Please try the following and see if it solves your problem:
SELECT A.emp
|| '200'
|| LPAD (b.b_count, 6, '0')
|| LPAD (c.c_count, 10, '0')
|| '000000000000'
|| LPAD (A.ORIGIN, 10,' ')
|| RPAD (NVL (A.MSGAUTHCODE, ' '), 19, ' ')
|| RPAD (NVL (A.RESERVED, ' '), 6, ' ')
|| RPAD (A.IMDDEST, 8, ' ')
|| LPAD (A.BTNUMBER, 7, '0')
FROM CONTROL_TABLE A,
(SELECT COUNT (*) AS b_count
FROM TRANSACTIONS
WHERE TRANSACTIONS.PROCESSED ='N') b,
(SELECT SUM (AMOUNT) AS c_count
FROM TRANSACTIONS
WHERE TRANSACTIONS.PROCESSED ='N') c

I get OBE-15065 error when I try to go into the Query Builder, or REP-1103 "No column is selected in group G_SPD_YR" if I just click on Apply on Data Source definition tab. I don't know what could be wrong with my Query, if anything. The report runs just fine.
I took the query and ran it directly against the database (using SQL and Toad) and it ran without errors.
How can I find out further info to narrow down what it is that Reports doesn't like?This can be found on Metalink regarding OBE-15065 when using Query Builder, but I guess it's an old bug (what is you version?):
This error appears if there is a space between the column name and
the comparison operator like < , > or =
for e.g
Select empno,ename,sal from emp where job = 'CLERK'
this statement would throw the error since there is a space between
the column name 'job' and the comparison operator '='.
To correct this remove the spaces from the query i.e
Select empno,ename,sal from emp where job='CLERK' -
Can not use SUM in a simple query because of a syntax error?
Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
I am trying to execute the following query:
q = em.createQuery("SELECT SUM((NE.pipeLength - 0.6)+((NE.networkDepth-NE.initialDepth)*0.41)+ NE.standLenght) FROM NExpansion NE where (( NE.contract.contractor=:contractor) AND (NE.pDiameter=:diameter))");
q.setParameter("contractor", contractor);
q.setParameter("diameter", diameter);
l = (Long) q.getSingleResult();And I get the following error:

Thanks.Hello,
From the grammar in the JPA spec, SUM only takes a state_field_path_expression which is defined as
state_field_path_expression := {identification_variable | single_valued_association_path_expression}.state_field
Please feel free to file an enhancement to have this expanded upon.

AVG calculation and syntax error while parsing a named query
Hi all,
I've to calcolate the average of polling results for each value column (5 value column in total). I want to use this single row result line for a bar graph.
I created a new named query in the EJB:
@NamedQueries({
@NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAll", query = "select o from Polls o"),
@NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAVG", query = "select o AVG(Value1) as Value1, AVG(Value2) as Value2, AVG(Value3) as Value3, AVG(Value4) as Value4, AVG(Value5) as Value5 o from Polls o") // <-- my named query
...I tried it in the sql query tool of Oracle 10g XE and sql syntax is ok, but when I run my javaServiceFacade on JDev I receive this message:
Exception in thread "main" Local Exception Stack:
Exception [EclipseLink-8023] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 1.0.1 (Build 20080905)): org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.JPQLException
Exception Description: Syntax error parsing the query [Polls.findAVG: select AVG(Value1) as Value1, AVG(Value2) as Value2, AVG(Value3) as Value3, AVG(Value4) as Value4, AVG(Value5) as Value5 o from Polls o].
Internal Exception: org.eclipse.persistence.internal.libraries.antlr.runtime.EarlyExitException
...Where is the syntax error in my named query?
Edited by: Silicio on 22-nov-2008 1.05Thanks Shay, now I think syntax is correct for gain an average for each column:
@NamedQuery(name = "Polls.findAVG", query = "select AVG(o.value1), AVG(o.value2), AVG(o.value3), AVG(o.value4), AVG(o.value5) from Polls o")But still got some trouble to get a bar graph...
If I drag&drop that query from data control, I get an empty graph with 5 values ,look http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/8710/emptygraphag7.png .
In the log there is some errors (due that named query and its methods in EJB):

Parsing Error when using query builder
I have a query with a subquery in the WHERE statement witn multiple fields listed in the select statement.
For example, the subquery starts with "AND (center, jobid) IN SELECT center, jobid FROM ........
The query runs fine and gives me the correct data
However when I click on the Query builder option, I receive the following error
"Text is not a valid, single SELECT statement.
Parsing error:
Failed to parse SQL query.
Invalid Select Statement.
Unexpected token "from" at line13, pos 1.
Query Builder Disabled
I believe this to be a problem with the query builder, Am I correct?Query Builder is a visual environment targeted at novice/intermediate users. Some advanced and/or hard to visualize language features are not supported. The improved error messaging coming in 3.1 would indicate this is 'unsupported' rather than 'not a valid, single SELECT statement.' For example, (using scott/tiger):
Text contains unsupported syntax.
Parsing error:
Failed to parse SQL query.
Invalid SELECT statement.
Unexpected token "," at line 4, pos 16.
Query Builder disabled.

I don't know what your real query is, but refactoring to use join on derived table or table expression (or, as Gary said, separate IN clauses) rather than '(a, b) IN' will allow Query Builder to display it.

Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression
Hi all
I am creating a couple of pages where a dynamic list is created from an access database and then products from that list are displayed, the user then has the option of clicking more details, this then should pass the KITID over to the details page, However when i click on the details page i get the following error
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error (missing operator) in query expression 'KitID = Kit 01'.
/classicclocks/Kieninger_gallery.asp, line 21
Here is the code from the page i am building, can anybody see anything obvious here
strKitID = Request.QueryString("KitID")
' If KitID does not exist then redirect to Gallery page
If strKitID = False Then
Response.Redirect("kit_gallerytest.asp")
End If
' SQL Query for specific KitID details only
Dim objRS
Set objRS = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Recordset")
' Open new objRS
strSQL = "SELECT KitID,ImgKitCatalogue,KitDescriptionShort FROM tblMovements WHERE KitID = " & strKitID & " ORDER BY KitID"
objRS.Open strSQL, MM_dbConn_STRING,,,adCmdTable
' Get all rows from table and asign values to array for use in form
Do While Not(objRS.EOF)
Images = True
fsImagesArray = objRS.GetRows()
Const arrKitID = 0
Const arrImgKitCatalogue = 1
Const arrKitDescriptionShort = 2
Loop
' Close objConn and objRS
objRS.Close
strSQL = "SELECT * From tblMovements WHERE KitID = " & strKitID
objRS.Open strSQL, MM_dbConn_STRING
thanks
JohnString values in a SQL where clause must be wrapped in quotes. Try this:
strSQL = "SELECT KitID,ImgKitCatalogue,KitDescriptionShort FROM tblMovements WHERE KitID = '" & strKitID & "' ORDER BY KitID" -
Session keeps running when the query has a syntax error
I have a weird scenario.
Take this query for example: select distinct physassignednum from hsi.docdeficiency where delinqlevel> 0 and dfcystatus in (1,6));
This query has a syntax error as there is an additional bracket at the end. I know that. When I run it on STJOSE database the session keeps running and never returns. Even if I stop it, it does not. I try to disconnect, it says "Connection is currently busy. Try again?" This behavior is pretty consistent on STJOSET. If I run this query on UMASS database it gives me this error (as expected)
ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
00933. 00000 - "SQL command not properly ended"
*Cause:
*Action:
Error at Line: 1 Column: 99
I do not know what is wrong with the STJOSE database connection that causes the session to hang and never return.
Please help.

I'm new to Publisher and I have an issue when I build a SQL Query Data Set. I have tried both the Default and Oracle OBIEE data sources. I am able to select my fields, etc but when I got to test results I get the following error:
java.io.IOException: prepare query failed[nQSError: 27002] Near <->: Syntax error [nQSError: 26012]
I've looked at the sql and it looks fine to me. I found one posting on here about the jdbc connection but I tested that under the Admin page and the OBIEE jdbc data source tests just fine.
Any idea what I'm missing?
Thanks
RichardThere is apparently no solution to this issue. Worse, it exists still in 10gR2.
I suspect the Oracle*Reports developers do not use tables having constraints and that they do not read the many reports of it on this forum. -
Immediately after supplying userid/password/database parameters when launching the Oracle Query Builder, the following error message is displayed:
OBE-15952: User privilege table not loaded
OBE-15950: No Query Builder tables--Database open/save is disabled
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
What needs to be done to eliminate the messages?hello,
query builder is no longer a supported product. however, you might want to try adding verbose=no to the commandline.
thanks,

Query Builder error when loading importing certain SQL files
Using an SQL statement which causes Oracle*Reports 6i to issue "Error loading data constraints" messages, the following error is displayed form the Oracle Query Builder:
OBE-15952: User privilege table not loaded
OBE-15950: No Query Builder tables--Database open/save is disabled
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
These are the same errors issues just by launching the Query Builder.
The database contains multiple virtual databases, called entities, such that we can have multiple, virtual systems sharing some common data between them. Could it be that there are problems with the 'virtual database' entity features?hello,
what database version are you using ? it might be, that query builder does not support the version/features you are using.

Syntax error while writing a select query.
Hi all,
I have a requirement where I have to pick a value if the text for that value is
MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car.
And so I wrote a query that
SELECT RUECK INTO XRUECK FROM AFVC WHERE ltxa1 = ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
ENDSELECT.
But it gives me a syntax error saying
u201CLiterals taking up more than one line not permittedu201D.
Can some one tell me what is wrong. I need to select RUECK value from AFVC table if
ltxa1 value is ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
Kindly help what is going wrong...
Regards,
Jessica SamHi,
Narendran is right use two single quotes.
also careful wile comparing string. i think as you write ltxa1 value is ' MYCARu2019S Lovliest Car'.
so while comparing you must not use space just before staring use the following
SELECT rueck INTO xrueck FROM afvc WHERE ltxa1 = 'MYCAR''S Lovliest Car'. " Not use Space before M
ENDSELECT.
Hope will help you.
Kind Regards,

Select-options in SELECT query - syntax error
Hi all,
I get the error below when I try to use the select options in a SELECT query . Please help me.
"The IN operator with "SO_AWART" is followed neither by an internal
table nor by a value list."
The code i have used(Logical database PNP is used):
TABLES: pernr,
catsdb.
INCLUDE ztime_cwtr_top. " global Data
INCLUDE ztime_cwtr_f01.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B1 WITH FRAME.
SELECT-OPTIONS SO_AWART FOR CATSDB-AWART.
PARAMETERS P_THRES TYPE I.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B1.
Get data from CATSDB table. Workdates within the date interval are considered.
SELECT pernr workdate awart catsquantity beguz enduz status
FROM catsdb
INTO TABLE it_catsdb
WHERE pernr = pernr-pernr AND
workdate GE pn-begda AND
workdate LE pn-endda AND
status IN ('20', '30') AND
awart IN so_awart .
awart IN ('1100', '1137', '1138', '1139', '1140',
'1147', '1148', '1149', '1157', '2003' ).
when I give the values directly i do not get any syntax error, but when I use select options in the where condition I get the syntax error.
I have tried different options like using only the select-options in the where condition.
Thanks in advance.....
MadhuSolved.
Code with syntax error:
include z...top .
include z...fo1.
select-options: xxxxxxx
Code with no syntax error:
select-options: xxxxxxx
include z...top .
include z...fo1.
Thanks for all your help,

InfoSet Query: Syntax Error while generating the program.
Dear All,
I have a Query in CRM system which contains an Infoset based on LDB.
The InfoSet Query throws up a Syntax error while generating the program.
So, we are not able to change the Infoset using the Infoset Query through SQ01.
The error is as follows:-
Syntax error in program "AQZZ==/SAPQUERY/CRM_ACTMON1 ".
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "CL_QUERY_OUTPUT_DEFINITION====CP" had to be
terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
The following syntax error occurred in program "AQZZ==/SAPQUERY/CRM_ACTMON1 "
in include "AQZZ==/SAPQUERY/CRM_ACTMON1 " in
line 28:
""CRMT_REPORT_LOCATORLIST" must be a flat structure. You cannot use int"
"ernal tables, strings, references, or structures as components. -"
Please help me arrive at an solution, so that we are able to change the Infoset through the InfoSet Query.
Awaiting your reply as soon as possible.
Thanks and Regards,
Pankaj.There is an error in your query, specifically in the definition of CRMT_REPORT_LOCATORLIST. In the short dump (transaction ST22) you will see more details and the exact location of an error if you just scroll down.
I can't tell more because this problem is specific to your system, to which I have no access. Read the whole dump and look at all the objects mentioned there. -
Internal errors during Query Builder
Please help me to correct a problem. Database user has a very simple cube: a measure with two dimensions. User (named "warehouse") owns it, the fact table, the dimension tables etc.; client application connects using warehouse account too.
While QueryBuilder makes a data source, one dimension (providers) fails at the some selections; for example, selections "top 10" and "last 3" works, but selection "measure value > 10000" fails; the other dimension (services) works great with all selections tried.
"Fails" means that selection step can be selected (moved from "available" to "selected" box), but cannot be configured (edited) at any manner, both in the left and right boxes - for example, I cannot edit value "10000". This selection cannot be applied too. Visually query builder does nothing, but prints exception trace (see below).

MS SQL - Syntax error for valid query
I have a problem with the second query in this code (gives me
a syntax error in my HAVING line)
<cfquery name="getDupes" datasource="#application.ODBC1#"
dbtype="ODBC" username="#application.userNameODBC1#"
password="#application.userPassODBC1#">
SELECT *
FROM view_FormCount
WHERE formCount >= 2
ORDER BY formNum
</cfquery>
<cfset variables.lstForms = "">
<cfoutput query="getDupes">
<cfset variables.lstForms=
listAppend(variables.lstForms,"'#getDupes.formNum#'")>
</cfoutput>
<cfset variables.whereClause = "(formNum =
#ReplaceNoCase(variables.lstForms,',',' OR formNum =
','ALL')#)">
<cfquery name="getDetails"
datasource="#application.ODBC1#" dbtype="ODBC"
username="#application.userNameODBC1#"
password="#application.userPassODBC1#">
SELECT tblForms.formNum, tblForms.formName,
tblForms.formCustNum, tblCompanies.companyAbbr
FROM tblForms INNER JOIN tblCompanies ON tblForms.formCustNum
= tblCompanies.companyNum
GROUP BY tblForms.formNum, tblForms.formName,
tblForms.formCustNum, tblCompanies.companyAbbr
HAVING #variables.whereClause#
ORDER BY tblForms.formNum, tblForms.formCustNum
</cfquery>
Now, the really odd thing is if I just take the query text
out of the CFQUERY tags and use CFOUTPUT instead (to see in my
browser what query is getting executed) I get a query that I can
paste into Enterprise Mgr and runs fine.
I can even paste the resulting text into my code in a CFQUERY
and CF will run it fine.
In other words, the dynamic version query gives me an error,
but if I just output the SQL statement, copy-and-paste that into
the CFQUERY that's erroring out (replacing what's there) to run as
a static query, it works fine (sample of static query below).
The error I get when I try to do it dynamically is "Error
Executing Database Query. [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC
Driver][SQLServer]Line 4: Incorrect syntax near '10169318'. The
error occurred on line 21." which is where the HAVING clause
starts.

tblForms.formCustNum, tblCompanies.companyAbbr FROM tblForms INNER
JOIN tblCompanies ON tblForms.formCustNum = tblCompanies.companyNum

As I said the default behavior is to escape the quotes in
your variables
as data. So the default output of your SQL statement, before
preserveSingleQuotes() would be like this.
HAVING formNum = ''12345'' OR formNum = ''54321''
As you can see that is not the desired results in your case.
In your
case you have the proper number of single quotes in your
string and you
do not want any added. You want to preserve them so to say.
Thus
adding preserveSingleQuotes() around your whereClase
variable, i.e.
preserveSingleQuotes(whereClause) says do not add any quotes,
keep them
all single.

REST API: Query for object based on name instead of objectId
Please correct me if I'm wrong... Right now I have to query anything and everything by the objectId. The issue is that I don't know what that is. I know the name. So, for example, If I know the objectId of an edge device named "myrouter" is "edge-1",
