It builds fine for me, looking at your output there seems to be a network issue, for some reason the build process connects to sourceforge to download an xml file (line 29 in your pastebin output) and you build fails to connect. See if you can connect to that page directly.

Why not compile error on "incompatible interface cast"?
simeple code here
class IncompInterfaceTest {
void doTest() {
ClassB b = new ClassB();
InterfaceA a = (InterfaceA)b;
interface InterfaceA{}
class ClassB{}
javac issues "ClassCastException" on runtime rather than compile
error.
as i know incompatible type casting may be caught at runtime and
compiler shows the error.
but why compiler doesn't do it's job for interfaces? it's just so
clear to be compile error to me.
ps. in a case ClassB is final class, compiler issues a error.

I think i might know something wrong about class, object concept, so I wish you tell me more about it.
As I though the code below means
ClassB b = new ClassC();'b' can be an Object of ClassB as a subclass of ClassC.
'b' IS an Object of ClassC.b is not an object.
b is a variable that can point to an instance of ClassB or to an instance of any subclass of ClassB.
>
so
b instanceof ClassB == true // as it can be
b instanceof ClassC == true // as it is
If b is not null, the first line will always be true.
If b points to a ClassC or a subclass, the second one will be true.
It means actual Object(something behind 'b' pointing, i don't know what i call it) is from ClassC to me. (somewhat like c pointer,
'b' is a bowl that called Object and actuall instance is refered by 'b')No idea what you're saying here.
if b IS an Object of ClassB
shouldn't "b instanceof ClassC" is false?If we have C extends B, then...
B b1 = new B();
B b2 = new C();
b1 instanceof B // true
b1 instanceof C // false
b2 instanceof B // true
b2 instanceof C // true
I Think compiler should be known that instance 'b' hold. No, it doesn't, and it's good that it doesn't, as it keeps the language simpler and more consistent.
Also, b doesn't hold an instance. It holds a reference to an instance. -
Compile Error: "schema 'name' does not exist
Im trying to build a program that quereys a table in a database but i keep getting this error. Am i missing a link between the files or am i missing a line of code in my program??
Apologies. I receive a compiler error which reads as follows;
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver
java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException: Schema 'DEMO' does not exist
Heres the main body of code i am trying to execute.
public class Main {
* @param args the command line arguments
public static void main(String[] args) {
// TODO code application logic here
try{
Class.forName("org.apache.derby.jdbc.EmbeddedDriver");
}catch(ClassNotFoundException e){
System.out.println(e);
try{
Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:derby://localhost:1527/SimpleDBDemo", "demo", "demo");
Statement stmt = con.createStatement();
ResultSet rs = stmt.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM DEMO.Table1");
while (rs.next()) {
String s = rs.getString("Name");
float n = rs.getFloat("Age");
System.out.println(s + " " + n);
}catch(SQLException e){
System.err.println(e);
I am using NetBeans IDE and have created a database under: Services->Databases-> Java DB->SimpleDBDemo.
I have a database connection in which theres a simple table (called "TABLE1") created which contains the names and ages of two people.
Hope this makes the problem a bit clearer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

Error while transforming XSLT,"Could not compile stylesheet"
Hi,
During transformation of my XSLT I needs to fetch data from method named *"myMethod(String str)"*, which is in *"mypackage.test.MyClass"* class. MyClass is in{color:#000000} XXX.jar. {color}
This XXX.jar is not in context of my web application.*
Following is part of XSLT which I am using.
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:aaa="mypackage.test.MyClass">
<xsl:template match="/responseData">
<xsl:for-each select="response">
<XMLResponse>
<xsl:for-each select="status">
<xsl:variable name="Vvar_ResResponseType" select="."/>
<xsl:attribute name="ResResponseType">
<xsl:value-of select="aaa:myMethod($Vvar_ResResponseType)"/>
</xsl:attribute>
</xsl:for-each>
</XMLResponse>
</xsl:for-each>
</xsl:template>
</xsl:stylesheet>So I tried to use reflection API to load XXX.jar file at runtime.
But while transforming Transformer does not find "myMethod(String str)" and gives error like "Could not compile stylesheet"
Following is full exception stacktrace

Hi Folks,
Is there a limitation in BEA's web services implementation? I have a simple web
service that returns an array of java objects. However I am calling another middle
tier API that returns a Set. I convert this Set into array of object and return
it via the web service.
However the .jws file that implements the webservice does not compile. I get the
following error message:
java.util.Set is an interface. This interface is not supported.
Is there a limitation on using Collections within the .jws file? If that is the
case it is a severe limitation.
Note my Web Service API returns an array of java objects with no collections in
them.
SanjayHello,
Generic java collections can only be handled in a very generic, weakly
typed manner.
Take a look at the
http://workshop.bea.com/xmlbeans/guide/conXMLBeansSupportBuiltInSchemaTypes.html
and also
http://workshop.bea.com/xmlbeans/guide/conJavaTypesGeneratedFromUserDerived.html
You might also ask your question to the XMLBeans newsgroup:

Hello experts,
I'm totally new to C#. I'm trying to modify existing code to automatically rename a file if exists. I found a solution online as follows:
string[] allFiles = Directory.GetFiles(folderPath).Select(filename => Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(filename)).ToArray();
string tempFileName = fileName;
int count = 1;
while (allFiles.Contains(tempFileName ))
tempFileName = String.Format("{0} ({1})", fileName, count++);
output = Path.Combine(folderPath, tempFileName );
string fullPath=output + ".xml";
However, it gives the following compilation errors
for the Select and Contain methods respectively.:
'System.Array' does not contain a definition for 'Select' and no extension method 'Select' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Array' could be found
(are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
'System.Array' does not contain a definition for 'Contains' and no extension method 'Contains' accepting a first argument of type 'System.Array' could be
found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I googled on these errors, and people suggested to add using System.Linq;
I did, but the errors persist.
Any help and information is greatly appreciated.
P. S. Here are the using clauses I have:
using System;
using System.Data;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using System.IO;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Text;
using System.Linq;Besides your issue with System.Core, you also have a problem with the logic of our code, particularly your variables. It is confusing what your variables represent. You have an infinite loop, so the last section of code is never reached. Take a look
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Linq;
using System.Text;
using System.Threading.Tasks;
using System.IO;

And remember that nobody but you can see it yet. If you like you could post it here and then others could see it and comment on it. -
Compilation Error for import classes not found in generated Proxy Class
Hi,
We are generating java classes for the COM dll using JCOM com2java compiler.
We are getting a compilation error for import class not found when compiling the
generated Proxy java source code. It can't find the com.bea.jcom.Dispatch class that
the generated Proxy java source code extends. It also can't find com.bea.jcom.Variant
or com.bea.jcom.Param. These are interfaces or data types or classes used by COM
library.
I added weblogic.jar to my class path and the only Dispatch class i found inside
the weblogic.jar is com.linar.jintegra.Dispatch;
We have com objects for which we want to develop an EJB client to interface with
the COM object using JCOM with Native Mode disabled.
Any help on the compilation error..I tried changing the extends for Dispatch to com.linar.jintegra.Dispatch
but the other errors are still there.
To begin with, I think the generated code should not refer to any of the COM data
types.
Any help please.
Thank you in advance,
Regards,
Rahul Srivastava
[email protected]Hi,
I resolved the other errors by changing all references from com.bea.jcom.Variant
etc to com.linar.jintegra.class name..all were present under the com.linar.jintegra
package.
Thank you all anyways,

Compilation error : package "coins" does not exist
Hi
I am new to Jva, though not new to programming.
I want to run a program I downloaded from internet But I cant since I got the following error
SimpleMain.java20 package coins does not exist.
import coins.HirRoot;
^(it points class HirRoot)
My GUESS is that I have to tell the compiler that I have my HirRoot class file somewhere. But I don't know how.
This is what I did:
I am at directory:
downloads/COINS/coinsBKP/examples/ And I want to compile SimpleMain.java inside of it
I have my classes (.class files) at directory:
downloads/COINS/coinsBKP/classes/coins/and Its source files (.java files) at directory:
donwloald/COINS/coinsBKP/src/coins/I input :
javac -d ../classes/coins/ SimpleMain.javaAnd I got many many errors.
What can I do?
btw I have tried also
javac -d ../classes/ SimpleMain.java
javac -d ./classes/ SimpleMain.javaand didn't work
Please help me, Any help will be greatly appreciated.Thanks for your answer.
But I still could not compile it ...
I did this...enriquez-guillermos-macbook:examples nacho$ javac -Xlint:unchecked -d ../classes/ -cp ../classes/ SimpleMain.java
SimpleMain.java:188: cannot find symbol
symbol : method setOptionalParam()
location: interface coins.sym.Subp
lPrintf.setOptionalParam();
^
SimpleMain.java:911: warning: [unchecked] unchecked call to add(E) as a member of the raw type java.util.List
lList.add(hir.intConstNode(0));
^
SimpleMain.java:914: warning: [unchecked] unchecked call to add(E) as a member of the raw type java.util.List
lList.add(lExpRepeat);
^
1 error
2 warnings
enriquez-guillermos-macbook:examples nacho$ As you suggested, I checked setOptionalParam() method. and it wasn't in Subp.java but it was found it in SubpImpl,java.
So How can I do this?
In C something like this might solutionate this problem...
#import "SubpImpl.java" but in java?
Also, I've noticed that SubpImpl is a Subclass of Subp so, importing or including a subclass "header" in the mother class file does not make sense Does it?
Is this a program problem or is the way I am compiling it? -
Compile error "table or view does not exist"
When I run the following code, I get a compile error:
Error(5,33): PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
I can run the select statement by itself as an SQL query, so why does this not work in PL/SQL?
CREATE OR REPLACE
PROCEDURE PREPTEST AS
BEGIN
FOR rec IN (SELECT rep_id FROM diag.diag_rep )
LOOP
DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(' record ID is ' || rec.rep_id);
END LOOP;
END;Within SQL the permissions can be taken from the Role that the user has.
Within PL/SQL permissions are not taken from Roles and have to be explicitly granted to the user.
GRANT the appropriate permissions to the user and the PL/SQL code will work. -

An XJC compilation error - Could not load class (..) for type cvsversion
I've got a strange compilation error using NetBeans 4.0 (I'd guess the version does not matter here) and Ant 1.6.2. When the following task is executed,
<target name="compile_ofx_schema">
<antcall target="clean-ofx"/>
<delete dir="${ofx-jaxb-src.dir}"/>
<mkdir dir="${ofx-jaxb-src.dir}" />
<xjc schema="${schema.dir}/ofx102.xsd" package="com.xxx.ofx102" target="${ofx-jaxb-src.dir}">
<arg value="-nv" />
<arg value="-extension" />
</xjc>
</target>
I get the error from NetBeans console,

And when I run the Ant task from the command line, I don't get the error at all.
Any help is greatly appreciated.That was a great finding from you. Thank you.
I followed your alternative approach and updated the ant.jar file. The "Could not load class..." error went away but the stack trace still remains. Now I am clueless again since I have ant on the debug mode and can't find any more useful info.

How do I add an included jsp to my project and not get a compile error?
Hi,
I have a project with some included jsp's however if I add them to the project, when I build I get a compile error as the jsp uses variables from the calling jsp.
Any ideas on how to get round this.
Thanks
DMThere are two main ways that I deal with this problem (yeah, it sucks, but it sort of makes sense that it happens...) (I presume you're talking static include here...)
#1 - name the included file with an extension that JDev will not try to compile (.jspf - for JSP Fragment - is common) Then it will be compiled in with the including page, but won't gag the project compilation. Advantage - it works, and you find out at compile time if you hosed up the variable reference. Disadvantage: JDev tries really, really, really hard to keep you from naming a JSP file with an extension of .jspf I normally create the .jsp file in JDev, remove it from the project, rename the file outside of JDeveloper, then add it back to the project - pain in the butt, but it works (and you probably aren't building scads of these included files...)
#2 - add the variable to be referenced to the pageContext implicit object as an attribute in your including page (ex, <% pageContext.setAttribute("myVar", myVar); %>), then reference that attribute in your included JSP (ex, <%= pageContext.getAttribute("myVar") %>) . It will compile fine (as the compiler has no way of knowing if the pageContext attribute actually exists, it just sees that the syntax is good and motors along merrily. Advantage: don't have to have differently named JSP files (which isn't actually a big deal). Disadvantage: You hvae to add the variable to the pageContext (and you have to always add Object derivatives, as primitives won't go into a hash) and you don't find out if you screwed the variable up until runtime (when it tries the getAttribute, which could return null if you didn't properly set it to start with) vs at compile-time w/ the direct reference.
HTH!
